Margaret Youngblood Olander, 84

Thomas L. Price Funeral Home of North Palm Beach, Fla. announces the death of Margaret Youngblood Olander at Heartland Health Care on Aug. 31, 2002, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Olander was a native of Emanuel County and daughter of the late George W. and Mary Lou Youngblood of Nunez. She was a cosmetician for Burdines department store for 40 years until her retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Olander.
Survivors include one brother, Wilbur Youngblood of Boynton Beach, Fla.; four sisters, Dorothy Y. Bell of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Mary Lovelace of Albany, Martha Y. Claxton of Swainsboro and Audrey Y. Murphy of Gainesville.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Bobby Gene Davis, 62

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Bobby Gene Davis, 62, was held Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at 3 p.m. at Smith Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Felton Rowe officiating and the Rev. Richard A. Lawrence assisting. Burial was at Swainsboro City Cemetery.
He died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, at Emanuel Medical Center after an extended illness.
Mr. Davis was a native and life long resident of Emanuel County where he attended public schools. He was a member of Smith Grove Baptist Church and worked in the water well construction industry for several years.
Survivors include one daughter, Sylvia Stokes of Swainsboro; two sons, Lanorris Davis of Swainsboro and Larry Gene Lockett of Macon; one sister, Mollie Strobridge of Jacksonville, Fla.; two stepsisters, Mary P. Cross of Savannah and Lois Peebles of Swainsboro; two stepbrothers, Willie James Peebles and Melvin Peebles, both of Savannah; several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Reno Tapley Mortuary had charge of arrangements.

Katie Thomas, 88

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Katie Thomas, 88, was held Friday, Oct. 10, 2002, at 3 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Isaac Culbreth officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery.
She died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at Emanuel Medical Center after a brief illness.
Mrs. Thomas was a native of Emanuel County where she attended public schools and was a member of St. Paul AME Church of Summertown for several years.
Survivors include two sons, Duke Ellington Cheeks and Johnny Paul "Larry" Cheeks, both of Swainsboro; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Reno Tapley Mortuary had charge of arrangements.

Aretha Moring Brown, 100

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Aretha Moring Brown, 100, was held Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at 2 p.m. at St. Galilee Baptist Church. The Rev. Patrick Jones officiated and the Rev. Robert L. Stephens assisted. Burial was at Swainsboro City Cemetery.
She died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at Emanuel Medical Center Nursing Home.
Mrs. Brown was a native of Emanuel County and daughter of the late Will and Viola Greene Moring. She received her formal education in Emanuel County and was a member of St. Galilee Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, George Brown; two sons, Seaborn Brown and Rufus Brown; one sister, Fannie Moring Brown and two brothers, Tom Moring and Horace Moring.
Survivors include five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces, nephews and relatives.
Active palbearers were Hubert Bynes, Lavern Bynes, Michael Boston, George Harrison, Charles Williams and Woodrow Billups Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were Robert Allen, Nathaniel Billups and Walter Stephens.
Mosley's Funeral Home, Inc. had charge of arrangements.

William B. Shaw III, 42

POOLER--Funeral for William B. Shaw III, 42, will be held Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Holy Angels' Episcopal Church of Pooler.
He died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002 at Hospice Savannah.
A North Carolina native, Mr. Shaw was a member of Holy Angels' Episcopal Church, Lay Minister of the Episcopal Church and former member of the Vestry.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Peggy and Bob Cousins of Bloomingdale; three sisters, Teresa Strickland of Pooler, Lynn Guyer of Vidalia and Harriet Page of Swainsboro; one stepsister, Jennifer Weeden; two stepbrothers, William Cousins and Greg Cousins and several other relatives.
Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, West Chatham Chapel has charge of arrangements.

Billy "Bill" E. Ross, 67

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Billy "Bill" E. Ross, 67, will be held Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. at Swainsboro First Baptist Church with Dr. Bob Blankenship and William Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Cobb Memorial Park of Moultrie.
He died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at Emanuel Medical Center after an extended illness.
Mr. Ross was a native of Colquitt County, an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict and a retired tooling engineer from Automatic Sprinkler. He was a member of Lake Luck Civic Club, member of First Baptist Church, the Steadfast II Sunday school class and served as deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma S. Ross of Swainsboro; one daughter, Sherri Thompson of LaGrange; three brothers, James Ross of Moultrie, Hilton Ross of South Haven, Miss. and Darrell Ross of Norman Park; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Allen Ross, Devaughn Ross, Carey Sellers, Jim Craig, Jack Price and Wayne Sellers.
Honorary pallbearers are members of Steadfast II Sunday school class, Deacons of First Baptist Church and Lake Luck Civic Club members.
Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary has charge of arrangements.

Earl H. Pope Jr., 54

NORRISTOWN--Funeral for Earl H. Pope Jr., 54, was held Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James E. Crandall officiating. Burial was at Chapel Park Cemetery.
He died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at Emanuel Medical Center.
A native of Manatee County, Fla., Mr. Pope was a resident of Norristown for the past four years. He was a retired medic from the U.S. Navy and member of D.A.V. and Moose Lodge. He was also of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Pope of Norristown; one son, Sean Evan Pope of Norristown; one daughter, Julie Gale of Norristown; nine grandchildren and several nephews.
Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home of Brunswick had charge of arrangements.

Ella Parham Andrews, 89

TWIN CITY--Funeral for Ella Parham Andrews, 89, was held Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Twin City United Methodist Church. The Rev. Griffin Thompson and the Rev. Wayne MacDonald officiated. Burial was at Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery near Swainsboro.
She died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center of Statesboro after an extended illness.
A native of Emanuel County, Mrs. Andrews was a homemaker and member of Twin City United Methodist Church. She was the wife of the late John Andrews and sister of the late Eddie Parham, Albert Parham, Mamie Hooks, Georgia Cowart and Emma Olliff.
Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Andrson and Johnnie Fulford, both of Twin City; two sons, Ben Andrews of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Eddie Andrews of Swainsboro; one sister, Margie Faulkner of Twin City; one brother, Brodus Parham of Vidalia; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Mike Fulford, Bruce Fulford, Tal Wimberly, Steven Spain Andrews, John Wall, Ben Bonnette, Eddie Wall and Kenny Wall.
Honorary pallbearers were Loren Williamson, Charles Stewart, Tommy Sconyers, Loy D. Cowart, Rufus Jackson, Clark Dixon, Jim Nix, Edd Patrick, David Price and James T. Hall.
Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary had charge of arrangements.

James Henry Waters Sr., 78

SAVANNAH--Graveside service for James Henry Waters Sr., 78, was held Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
He died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002 at Candler Hospital.
A native of Baxley, Mr. Waters was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army's 34th Division, Battalion HDGR, 53rd section. He was a member of American Legion Post 36, VFW Post 660, life member of DAV Post 8 and member of the 40/8. He was also a volunteer at The Filter Center for the Cuban Missile and worked in the plumbing and heating industry.
Survivors include three sons, Lucien H. Waters of Rochester, N.Y., James H. Waters Jr. of Black Creek and Regan Phillips Waters of Savannah; two daughters, Penny W. Allen of Swainsboro and Katy B. Waters of Corpus Christi, Texas; three sisters, Velma O'Steen of High Springs, Fla., Lavern Churchville of Sante Fe, Fla. and Vonnie Langford of Trenton, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home-Hodgeson Memorial Chapel had charge of arrangements.

Clarcy Beasley Ward, 87

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Clarcy Beasley Ward, 87, was held Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Swainsboro First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Hugh Spivey and the Rev. Ira Whitaker officiating. Burial was at Union Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery near Swainsboro.
She died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center of Statesboro after an extended illness.
A native of Johnson County, Mrs. Ward was employed with Braswell Foods and Cannery of Statesboro. She was a member of Swainsboro First Assembly of God and Women's Ministries. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Myrtice Stockholm; sister, Louetta Johns; and brothers, Talmadge Beasley and J. W. Beasley.
Survivors include one daughter, Jeri L. Stevens of Swainsboro; one son, L. C. Lockhart Jr. of Brevard, N.C.; two sisters, Lemerle Whitfield of Swainsboro and Mary Nell Stroud of Savannah; one brother, Bobby Beasley of Swainsboro; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were Tyson Stephens, Ted Stockholm and Jim Curry.
Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary had charge of arrangements.
