Mary Frances Tant, 43

LYONS--Funeral for Mary Frances Tant, 43, was held Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at 2 p.m. at New Beginning Church of God of Lyons with the Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Burial was at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery near Swainsboro.
She died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at her residence after an extended illness.
A native of Emanuel County, Mrs. Tant lived in Lyons the past 18 years. She was a homemaker and attended New Beginning Church of God.
Survivors include her husband, William H. Tant of Lyons; two sons, Henry Lee Hall of Swainsboro and Jeffrey Tant of Lyons; two stepsons, Andrew Timothy and Billy Jim Tant, both of Lyons; three brothers, James Riner of Kite and Herschel and Robert Riner, both of Swainsboro; four sisters, Hazel Emerson, Laura Mason, Babara Ann Gilbert and Inez Smith, all of Swainsboro.
Jones-Stewart Funeral Home of Lyons had charge of arrangements.

C.L. Welch, 84

TWIN CITY--Funeral for C. L. Welch, 84, will be held Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Franklin Sasser officiating. Entombment will be at Eastbrook Cemetery of Swainsboro.
He died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at Emanuel Medical Center after an extended illness.
A native of Jefferson County, Mr. Welch was retired from the U.S. Postal Service, retired owner of Welch's Service Station and retired farmer. He was a member of Old Bethel Baptist Church of Bartow.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Mills Welch of Twin City; five stepsons, Robbie Mills, Ronnie Mills, David Mills, Richard Mills, all of Twin City and Charles Mills of Marietta; one sister, Donnie Huffman of Hickory, N.C.; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ivan Mills, Patrick Mills, Hank Ogle, Johnny Boatright, Mark Etheridge, Dave Watson, Tim Allmond and Knotty Watson.
Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary has charge of arrangements.

Kathryn Smith Moore, 85

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Kathryn Smith Moore, 85, was held Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Howard Cox officiating. Burial was at Swainsboro City Cemetery.
She died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at Jefferson County Hospital of Louisville after an extended illness.
A native of Emanuel County, Mrs. Moore was a homemaker and member of Swainsboro Primitive Baptist Church. She was the wife of the late Rufus Moore Jr., mother of the late Rufus Moore III and Larry Moore and daughter of the late Walter and Maggie Kitchens Smith.
Survivors include two daughters, Tochie Lee Fields of Swainsboro and Sandra Caldwell of Augusta; two sons, James Rock Moore and Keith Moore, both of Swainsboro; two halfsisters, Faye Hill of Richmond, Va. and Joyce Mest of Columbia, S.C.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Tyson Stephens, Henry Terwilliger, J.E. Moore, Bobby Bishop, Clark Mooris Sr. and Johnny Ray Stafford.
Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary had charge of arrangements.

Veta Grimes Lang

SAVANNAH--Funeral for Veta Grimes Lang, 85, was held Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home-Hodgeson Memorial Chapel with Father Michael L. Carreker officiating. Burial was at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
She died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at Chatham Medical Associates.
Mrs. Lang was born in Emanuel County and lived in Savannah the past 57 years.. She was a communicant of St. John's Episcopal Church, member of Savannah Chapter #52, Order of the Eastern Star, Alee Temple Ladies Auxiliary and Tybee Lite Club Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, George G. Lang and brother, Rollin T. Grimes.
Survivors include one brother, Morris L. Grimes of Swainsboro and several nieces and nephews.
Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home-Hodgeson Memorial Chapel had charge of arrangements.

Johnie Lou Faulk, 91

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Johnie Lou Lawson Faulk, 91, was held Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Tomlinson Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Jack Hanley officiating. Burial was at Swainsboro City Cemetery.
She died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at Emanuel Medical Center.
Mrs. Faulk was a native of Emanuel County and member of Swainsboro Avent Christian Church. She was a cashier at Sanitary Market and Ware's Restaurant for several years.
Survivors include one brother, George "Goose" Lawson of Swainsboro and four nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Harry Martin, Jay Lawson, Jim Screws, Alfred Riner, Kenneth Lawson and Graham Lawson.
Tomlinson Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Lamar West, 82

Metter--Funeral service for Lamar West, 82, was held Monday, Feb. 10, at 11 a.m. at Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Homes Hooks Chapel. Burial was in Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. West died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at Candler County Hospital.
A native of Johnson County, Mr. West lived several years in Savannah before moving to Candler County in the Evergreen Community in 1997. He was an Army veteran having served in WWII and received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He attended Evergreen Baptist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Cleo Richardson of Savannah; one brother, Wiley West of Cobbtown; and several nieces and nephews.
Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Anna J. Turner, 76

SWAINSBORO--Memorial service for Anna J. Turner, 76, was held Monday, March 17, 2003, at 12 noon at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses with Bro. Frank Weigl officiating.
She died Wednesday, March 12, 2003.
Mrs. Turner was born in Wrightsville on June 22, 1926 to the late Jesse and Trudie Thomas. She was married to the late Robert Turner in Detroit, Mich. and was baptized in 1960 to serve as a Jehovah's Witness. She was preceded in death by two children, Reynard and Rhonda, and two brothers, December and Freddie.
Survivors include two daughters, Shelly Horton and Renee Turner, both of Detroit, Mich.; two sons, Reed Turner of Swainsboro and Roderic Turner of Detroit, Mich.; four sisters, Isabel Riggins of Swainsboro, Stella Amos of Ellenwood, Beulah Waites of Westland, Mich., and Mae Connors of Philadelphia, Pa.; two brothers, Ollie Thomas of Bellville, Mich., Carl Thomas of Las Vegas, Nev..; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mosley's Funeral Home, Inc. had charge of arrangements.

Ocilla Bostic, 80

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Ocilla Bostic, 80, was held Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Wiggins Jr. officiating. Burial was at Swainsboro City Cemetery.
She died Friday, March 7, 2003, at Emanuel Medical Center after an extended illness.
Mrs. Bostic was born January 16, 1923 to the late Cora Jackson in Johnson County, Scott, Georgia. Later in life she moved to Swainsboro and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Survivors include five daughters, Cora Harden of Soperton, Ola Mae Coleman, Annie Mae Bostic, Linda Bostic and Patricia Byrd, all of Swainsboro; three sons, Lester Strickland of Douglas, Horace Pullen of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Bonnie Bostic of Soperton; one sister, Mary Lizzie Stanford of Swainsboro; one brother, Joseph Jackson Sr. of Swainsboro; 26 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Nickholas Bostic, Marcus Jones, Willie C. Harden, Lester Wadley, Alfred Harden and Tyrome Harden.
Mosley's Funeral Home, Inc. had charge of arrangements.

Joyce Nedra Gabrysiak

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Joyce Nedra Gabrysiak will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Tomlinson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Louis Pearce officiating.
She died Sunday, March 16, 2003, at St. Joseph's Hospital of Savannah.
A native of Bulloch County, Mrs. Gabrysiak lived in Swainsboro many years and was employed by the Coleman House.
Survivors include two daughters, Leondra Bodiford of Wilmington, N.C. and Taylor Danielle Gabrysiak of Swainsboro; two sons, Jess Bodiford and Paul Gabrysiak of Denver, Colo.; one brother, James E. Smith of Lebanon, Tenn.; one sister, Lorita Smith Jackson of Plantation, Fla. and a stepmother, Eunice L. Smith of Statesboro.
Tomlinson Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Lula Jane Radford Mitchell, 51

GARDEN CITY--Funeral for Lula Jane Radford Mitchell, 51, was held Sunday, March 16, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Kite Church of God with the Rev. Kelmer Durden and the Rev. Allen Meeks officiating. Burial was at Wheeler Cemetery.
She died Friday, March 14, 2003, at her residence after and extended illness..
Mrs. Mitchell was born in Johnson County and she was a member of the Church of God.
Survivors include one son, Bobby Mitchell of Savannah; one daughter Tara Mitchell Bruning of Savannah; three brothers, Melvin Radford of Midville, Jimmy Radford of Daytona Beach, Fla. and Randall Radford of Savannah; three sisters, June Radford of Savannah, Ann Brown of Twin City and Brenda Dutton of Anderson, S.C.; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Tracy Radford, Keith Radford, Chris Radford, Charles Radford, Gene Thompson and Shane Thompson.
Honorary pallbearers were Ben Brown, Chase Radford and Kevin Ridley.
Southern Heritage Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
