Lorene Willis Anderson, 85

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Lorene Willis Anderson, 85, was held Saturday, March 15, 2003, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Dr. Bob Blankenship officiating. Burial was at Swainsboro City Cemetery.
She died Thursday, March 13, 2003, at Emanuel Medical Center.
A native and lifelong resident of Swainsboro, Mrs. Anderson was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Willis. She was a retired manager of Sears after 18 1/2 years of service. She served as a field representative of the American Cancer Society and retired from Emanuel Medical Center in 1979 after 10 years. She also worked for Dolores and Woody's for nine years. She was a charter member of Business and Professional Womens Club and was the first woman to be president of Swainsboro Merchants Association. For over 70 years, she was a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Loron Anderson.
Survivors include one son, Robert Brice Anderson Sr. of Swainsboro; one brother, Ted Willis of Brooksville, Fla.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Brice Anderson, Loron Anderson, Richard Madden, Eddie Brantley, James Dutcher and Codi Anderson.
Honorary pallbearers were Bill Dixon, Ray Thompson, Sid Shepherd, Johnny McCuin, Denny Key, Bob Dykes, Eddie Lewis, Johnny McRae and members of the Tel-Joy Sunday school class.
Tomlinson Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Lacey Jerome Bagley, 66

YUKON, OKLA.--Funeral for Lacey Jerome Bagley, 66, was held Friday, March 14, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Yukon, Okla. Burial was at Yukon Cemetery.
He died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Okla.
A native of Lake Wells, Fla., Mr. Bagley was the son of the late Lonnie and Ruth Bagley. He served in the U.S. Air Force four years, was a retired air traffic controller after 20 years of service. Upon retirement, he started Bagley Lawn Maintenance. After moving to Yukon, Okla. from Albuquerque, N.M. in 1981, he worked for O.U. as an air traffic controller instructor for 10 years. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Bagley.
Survivors include his daughter, Rhonda Baker of Yukon, Okla.; one brother, Frank Bagley of Swainsboro; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Yanda & Son Funeral Home of Yukon, Okla. had charge of arrangements.

Ronella Screws Donaldson, 88

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Ronella Screws Donaldson, 88, was held Friday, March 14, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Southern Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kelmer Durden and Bunny Hudson officiating. Burial was at Swainsboro City Cemetery.
She died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at Emanuel Medical Center.
A native of Emanuel County, Mrs. Donaldson was a retired nurse after 18 years of service with Emanuel Medical Center. She was also a member of Church of God.
Survivors include four sons, Alton Johnson, Doc Johnson, both of Swainsboro, John Rex Johnson and Bobby Johnson, both of Adrian; four daughters, Sue Patton of Athens, Burnell Roberts of Evans, Allene Hooks and Linda Coughron, both of Swainsboro; one brother, Jake Screws of Atlanta; one halfsister, Bonita Smith of Lilburn; four stepsons, four stepdaughters, 31 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Donald Hooks, Randy Hooks, Will Snellgrove, Blake Hooks, Al Boatright and John Edward Boatright.
Southern Heritage Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Pearl Rowland, 81

ADRIAN--Funeral for Pearl Rowland, 81, was held Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Adrian United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tommy Veal officiating. Burial will be at Watson-Odomville Cemetery.
She died Saturday, March 29, 2003.
A native of Emanuel County, Mrs. Rowland was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna Foskey Reese. She was retired from J.P. Stevens Co., East Dublin and attended Adrian United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Rowland and daughter, Anna Faye Rowland.
Survivors include four daughters, Joan Rowland-Irvin of Adrian, Dianne Rowland-Jackson of Sandersville, Patty Rowland-Hairr of Swainsboro and Sandra Rowland-Anderson of McDonough; one son, Charles Nathan Rowland of Smyrna; one sister, Estelle Lessing of Adrian; one brother, James N. Barwick of Austell; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jeff Eno, Michael Hall, Darin Hall, Kevin Jackson, Anthony Hairr and Tony Mimbs.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the adult Sunday school class at Adrian United Methodist Church.
Sammons Funeral Home of Soperton had charge of arrangements.

Bennett Dalton "B.D." Whitfield, 79

TWIN CITY--Funeral for Bennett Dalton "B.D." Whitfield, 79, will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Rountree and the Rev. Burnon Jarriel officiating. Burial will be at Antioch Cemetery.
He died Sunday, March 30, 2003, at Candler County Hospital.
A native and lifelong resident of Emanuel County, Mr. Whitfield was a retired farmer, supervisor of the Ohoopee District Soil & Water Conservation program and member of Metter Community Fellowship Church.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Dasher Whitfield of Twin City; two sons, Bennett Whitfield and Jerrell Whitfield, both of Twin City; one daughter, Janice Hinely of Baxley; one brother, Paul Whitfield of Stillmore; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Sidney Lanier, Binion Turner, Wayne Whitfield, Michael Whitfield, Daryl Whitfield and Blake Whitfield.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Brown, Bill Fondren, Gene Ragsdale, Nick Herrington, Bunky Wilson, Sid Shepard, Millard Williams and Barnett Ely.
Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel of Metter has charge of arrangements.

Fronia Mae Haddock, 94

WADLEY--Graveside service for Fronia Mae Haddock, 94, was held Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Swainsboro City Cemetery with the Rev. Kathi Parchem officiating.
She died Sunday, March 30, 2003, at Glendale Nursing Home of Wadley.
A native of Emanuel County, Mrs. Haddock was the daughter of the late Bob and Cari Kea and wife of the late Roy Haddock. She resided in College Park, Md. several years, retired from Pantry Pride, Inc. in 1973 then returned to Emanuel County. She was a member of Swainsboro Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include one brother, Franklin Kea of Metter and several nieces and nephews.
Tomlinson Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Lester Woods, 85

RIDGELAND, S.C.--Funeral for Lester Woods will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Southern Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jamie Archer officiating. Burial will be at Hawhammock Baptist Church Cemetery.
He died Monday, March 31, 2003, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Woods was son of the late Andy Albert and Rosa Bradham Woods. He was a resident of Ridgeland Nursing Center of Ridgeland, S.C. and lifelong resident of South Carolina.
Survivors include one brother, George W. Woods Sr. of Swainsboro and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Buddy Wiggins, Eddie Donaldson, Mike Wiggins, Will Woods, Eric Woods and Tim Donaldson.
Southern Heritage Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Grady C. Lovett, 86

STATESBORO--Funeral for Grady C. Lovett, 86, was held Thursday, March 27, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Townsend officiating. Burial was at Lane Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
He died Sunday, March 23, 2003 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Lovett was the son of the Willie and Ella Lovett, was educated in public schools and served in World War II. He was owner and operator of Lovett's Paint and Body Shop, member of the NAACP and former chairman of the Deacon Board of Bethel Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lona Bell Lovett of Statesboro; one daughter, Grace R. Nobles of Dumfries, Va.; three sons, Grady A. Lovett of Strafford, Va., George B. Lovett of Louisville, Ky. and Thomas D. Lovett of Tulsa, Okla.; one sister, Mary Jane Riggs of Lakeland, Fla.; one brother, Fred Lovett of Statesboro; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were friends of the family.
Honorary pallbearers were deacons of the church.
Jones-Habersham Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Mary Elvira Dowell, 80

MIDVILLE--Funeral for Mary Elvira Dowell, 80, was held Monday, March 31, 2003, in Suitland, Md. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland, Md.
She died Monday, March 24, 2003 at Burke County Hospital.
A native of Green County, Mrs. Dowell was the daughter of the late Thomas Robert and Naomi Fendley McCannon and wife of the late Eddie Lee Dowell. She was a drug store clerk and member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one son, Eddie Dowell of Huntingtown, Md.; one daughter, Betty Quintana of Bridewater, N.J.; one brother, Henry Thomas McCannon of Charlotte, N.C.; one sister, Betty Green of Midville; and six grandchildren.
Southern Heritage Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Rebecca Geraldine Hutto McMillan

Funeral for Rebecca Geraldine Hutto McMillan, 81, was held Saturday, April 19, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Rosemary Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Sam Bowen officiating. Burial was at Rosemary Cemetery.
She died Thursday, April 17, 2003, at Medical Center of Houston County.
A native of Candler County, Mrs. McMillan lived several years in Warner Robbins and attended Oakland Baptist Church. She was a member of Rosemary Primitive Baptist Church and volunteer of the Museum of Aviation in Warner Robbins.. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter L. McMillan.
Survivors include one sister, Ouida Kimball of Twin City and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were nephews and great-nephews.
Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel of Metter had charge of arrangements.
