Mollie D. Carver, 91

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, FLA.--Funeral for Mollie D. Carver, 91, was held Saturday, May 29, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Settle-Wilder's New Smyrna Beach Chapel. Burial was in Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery in Edgewater, Fla. She died Wednesday, May 26, 2004 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Mrs. Carver was born in Emanuel County and was a homemaker. She moved to Florida in 1950. She was preceded in death by her husband, Issac "Ike" J. Carver Sr.; a son, Isaac "Ike" Jr." J. Carver Jr.; and eight brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ruth Tilley of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; and Thelma Carver Tyler of Port Orange, Fla.; a brother, Frank Drew, of Twin City; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Settle-Wilder Funeral Home of New Smyrna Beach had charge of arrangements.

James Darley Martin, 76

ADRIAN--Funeral for James Darley Martin, 76, was held Thursday, May 27, 2004 at 2 p.m. at eh chapel of Southern Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Taylor and Rev. Elbert Austin officiating. Burial was in Sardis Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. He died Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at his residence after an extended illness.
Mr. Martin was born Feb. 10, 1928 to the late Will Martin and Adell M. Glisson. He was retired from Atkinson Pecan Products and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include six sons, Randall Martin of Dexter; James Edward Martin and Steve Martin of Swainsboro; Carl Martin, Willard "Pete" Martin and Jeff Martin of Augusta; six daughters, Diane Welch and Terri Lynn Goddard of Swainsboro; Martha Fuller of Medicine Park, Okla.; Helen Womack and Donna Ruth Taylor of Millen; and Frances Elaine Martin of Foley, Ala.; three brothers, Carlos Riner of Macon; Elza Martin of Denver, Colo.; and Gene Mills of Twin City; two stepsons, Toby Durden and Richard Herman of Twin City; 30 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and five step-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Joe Hammock Jr., Eric Goddard, Joseph Thames III, Jody Dale Martin, Jay Clayton, Richard Herman, Richard Herman Jr. and Toby Durden.
Southern Heritage Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Jack D. Brannon, 76
SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Jack D. Brannon, 76, was held Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church with Dr.

Robert Blankenship officiating. Burial was in Swainsboro City Cemetery. He died Sunday, May 22, 2005 at the Emanuel Medical Center after an extended illness.

Mr. Brannon was a native of Emanuel County and a 1950 graduate of the University of Georgia. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving in the Korean Conflict, retired from Liberty Mutual Life Insurance Co and was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Jimmy Morgan Sunday School Class and the Kiwanis Club.

Survivors include his wife, Marcelle Smith Brannon of Swainsboro; one brother and sister-in-law, Donald Earl and Polly Brannon of St. Petersburg, Fla.; six nephews, Evan Brannon, Nolan Brannon and Dale Brannon of St.

Petersburg, Fla., David Banks, Brandon Banks and Kirby Banks of Thomaston.

Pallbearers were nephews Evan Brannon, Nolan Brannon, Dale Brannon, David Banks, Brandon Banks, Kirby Banks and Joe Lisenby.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the Jimmy Morgan Sunday Class and the Kiwanis Club.

Should friends desire, contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church or Friends of the Library Fund in care of Franklin Memorial Library, Swainsboro.

Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary had charge of arrangements.

Destiny Jean Lane
SWAINSBORO--Graveside services for Destiny Jean Lane, infant daughter of Daniel and Crystal Lane, was held Monday, May 23, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Dellwood with Rev. Ronnie Young officiating. She died Thursday, May 19, 2005 at Burke Medical Center.

Survivors include her parents, Daniel and Crystal Lane of Swainsboro; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Terrell Colter, Mr.

and Mrs. Allen Johnson and Dennis Akridge, all of Swainsboro; great-grandparents, Jean Roundtree, Louise Collins, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Akridge and Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Johnson, all of Swainsboro; and Hilda Grimes of Twin City.

Tomlinson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Rev. C. David Moore, 54
STATESBORO--Funeral for Rev. C. David Moore, 54, were held Friday, May 20, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Rev.

Paul Hindman officiating.

Burial was in the CorinthLeefield Cemetery. He died Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at St. Joseph’s/Candler in Savannah.

He was a graduate of Groves High School in Savannah and Luther Rice Baptist College in Jacksonville, Fla. Rev. Moore was the former pastor of Dry Branch Baptist Church in Jenkins County and also pastored several other churches in the surrounding area. He was a Safety Manager at Claxton Poultry and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his wife, Wendy Moore of Statesboro; two daughters and sons-in-law, Candace and Scott Hindman of Beaufort, S.C., and Jennifer and Will Tyler of Middleburg, Fla.; two granddaughters, Chelsea and Eva Hindman of Beaufort, S.C.; his mother, Bessie Paul Moore of Oliver; three brothers, Michael Moore of New Hampshire, Stanley Moore of Savannah, and Andy Moore of Peachtree City; one sister, Dii Ann West of Atlanta; and several nieces, nephew, and great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Wayne Schulz, Ricky Saxon, Brent Schulz, Craig Schulz, Andy Saxon, James Ellis Saxon, Bee Jay Rollins, and Jason Shuman.

Hodges-Moore Funeral Home of Statesboro was in charge of arrangements.

Jacob Alan Stavely, 7
SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Jacob Alan Stavely, 7, was held Sunday, May 22, 2005 at 3 p.m. at Midville Baptist Church with Rev.

Jerry Byrd officiating. Burial was held in Midville Cemetery. He died Thursday, May 19, 2005 at Burke Medical Center from injuries received in an automobile accident.

Jacob was born on Dec.

29, 1997 and has been a lifelong resident of Emanuel County. He was a first grade student at Swainsboro Primary School and attended Midville Baptist Church.

Survivors include his parents, Ben and Lisa Stavely of Swainsboro; one brother, Ben Stavely Jr. and one sister, Anna Stavely, both of Swainsboro; maternal grandparents, Brenda and Jack Radford of Millen; paternal grandparents, Ben Stavely and Thelma Turner of Mulberry, Fla.

Pallbearers were Brion Stavely, Adam Hopkins, Roger Burke and Terry Marsh.

Southern Heritage Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

James Lamar Minton, 73
KITE--Funeral for James Lamar Minton, 73, will be held Thursday, May 26, 2005 at 3 p.m. in Rehoboth Baptist Church near Kite with Rev. Lamar Kersey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. He died Saturday, May 21, 2005 at his residence after an extended illness. Visitation will be at Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary Wednesday, May 25 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mr. Minton, a native of Johnson County, retired from the U.S. Military with over 30 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Minton of Kite; two sons, Martin Minton of Germany and Jamie Minton of Swainsboro; two sisters, Eloise Minton of Panama City, Fla. and Martha Waller of Pringle; two brothers, Jackie Minton of Kite; and Billy Minton of Swainsboro; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; six step-children, 19 stepgrandchildren and 30 stepgreat grandchildren.

Peebles Curry Durden Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Krishan C. Patel, 4
SWAINSBORO--Visitation and funeral for Krishan C. Patel, 4, was held Saturday, May 21, 2005 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the chapel of Tomlinson Funeral Home. Burial was in Swainsboro City Cemetery. He died Tuesday, May 17, 2005.

Krishan was born in Plano, Texas, and had lived in Swainsboro for the last 10 months.

Survivors include his mother and father, Jayesh and Rajan Patel of Swainsboro; a brother, Dilan Patel of Swainsboro; paternal grandparent, Rukhiben Patel of Swainsboro; maternal grandparents, Laxmiben and Dayalbhai Patel of New Jersey; three uncles, four aunts and four cousins.

Tomlinson Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

VeEsther P. Kniphfer, 85
BARTOW--Funeral for VeEsther P. Kniphfer, 85, was held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2005 at Powell’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. W.E.

Thompson, Rev. Kenneth Watkins and Rev. R.L.

Rathburn officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. She died Wednesday, May 18, 2005 following an extended illness.

Born in Johnson County, Ms. Kniphfer was the daughter of the late Watson and Lizzie Schwalls Powell. She was a member of Powell’s Chapel United Methodist Church and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Roy C. Kniphfer.

She is survived by her daughter, Esther McCrimmon of Mableton; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Stanley Funeral Home of Wrightsville had charge of the arrangements.

Robert E. Hutton, 87
SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Robert E. Hutton, 87, will be held Thursday, May 26, 2005 at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Wayne DeFore officiating. Burial will be in Eastbrook Cemetery. He died Monday, May 23, 2005 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro after a brief illness. The family will receive friends at Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary Wednesday, May 25 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mr. Hutton was a native of Wilkinsburg, Pa. and a retired from Linde Air Products as machine shop superintendent. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Simpson Hutton of Swainsboro; one daughter and son-in-law, Patti and J. D. Oglesby of Swainsboro; one sister, Sarah Ashman of Iowa City, Iowa; one brother, James Hutton of Simsbury, Conn.; two grandsons, Matt Thomas of Sandersville; and Scott Thomas of Statesboro; one granddaughter, Chelsea Oglesby of Swainsboro; and one great-grandson, Jackson Thomas of Sandersville.

Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Don Corbin, 78
SWAINSBORO--Graveside services for Don Corbin, 78, will be Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Corbin Cemetery with Rev. Phil Wilson officiating. He died Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at his residence after an extended illness.

Mr. Corbin was a native of Emanuel County and a WW II Army Air Corps veteran. He was a retired Enforcement officer with the State Department of Transportation and a member of the Morningside Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, James C. Corbin of Swainsboro; one brother: H. P. Corbin of Swainsboro; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Patrick Phillips, James Phillips, Tom Phillips. Jamie Kirby, Ricky Hooks, Frank Ellis, Michael Hooks, Lew Triplett. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Hooks, Josh Lewis, J E Moore, Richard Ware, Bernard Hall, Grayson Phillips, Tyson Stephens and Everett Carrick.

Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Wynie Mae Bishop, 73

SWAINSBORO--Memorial and visitation for Wynie Mae Bishop, 73, was held Monday, Sept. 12, 2005 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. Ms. Bishop died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005 at Emanuel Medical Center.

Survivors include a son, Ronnie Brantley; and a daughter, Melissa Henderson.

Southern Heritage Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
