WILSON - Estella Wilson, 89, of White Oak died on Thursday, March 29, 2001 at the Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center in Brunswick.
Wilson was born on Nov. 26, 1911 in Camden County. She was the third child of Garfield and Amy Wilson. She was educated in the Camden County School System.
Wilson lived in Camden County for most of her life. She resided in Savannah for a short period of time.
Wilson joined Jerusalem No. 1 Baptist Church at an early age. She served as usher president for many years until her health began to fail.
Survivors include a son and daughter - in - law, Henry and Vandora Baker of Spring Buff; two grandchildren, Jamie Baker and Pamela Ann Murphy; a great - granddaughter, Cynthia Wilson Walker (Aaron) of Meridian; one grandson, John (Lajoy) Wilson of Brunswick; one granddaughter, Tamarah Mills of Brunswick; great - grandsons John Parrish Jr. and Paxon Parrish of Brunswick; one sister - in - law, Luida Wilson of White Oak; one brother - in - law, Henry Brunswick of Folkston; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 7 at Jerusalem No. 1 Baptist Church in White Oak, with Pastor Charles L. Green officiating. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery in White Oak.
Active pallbearers were the nephews of the deceased.
Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of Jerusalem No. 1 Baptist Church.
Myers Funeral Home of Woodbine was in charge of arrangements.

LAFORTUNE - Aldrick LaFortune, 84, of Woodbury, N.J., died on March 28, 2001.
He was born March 18, 1917 in Port of Spain, West Indies to the late Fedrick and Conception LaFortune. LaFortune attended public schools.
Survivors include Mary Louise LaFortune; one brother, Knolly LaFortune; sisters, Vitonia LaFortune, Euphemia Bonair, Kathleen LaFortune, Phyllis Kallo and Vialet LaFortune; two sisters - in - law, Freeta Massey of Waverly and Naomi Speed of Kingsland; two brothers - in - law, Rossie Massey of Waverly and Osby Jackson Sr. of Kingsland; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 6, 2001 at the Church of God by Faith in Spring Bluff, with Minister James Ammons officiating. A visitation was held for one hour prior to the service.
Active pallbearers were his nephews. Honorary pallbearers were his family and friends.
Burial followed at Rising Daughter Cemetery.

TOBBY - Margaret Tobby, 51, of Kingsland died on Tuesday, June 5, 2001 at Memorial Medical Center in Jacksonville, Fla.
Tobby was employed with Aventis Crop Science Company in Woodbine for 27 years. She was a lady who loved to fish.
Survivors include a daughter and son - in - law, Jacqueline (Stanley) Brooks of Jacksonville, Fla.; a son, David Brand Malone of New York; four sisters, Doruth Murphy of Brunswick, Teresa Carter of Rochester, N.Y., Rose Marie (Victor) Carter of Rochester, N.Y. and Jacquelyn Tobby of Waycross; four brothers, Timothy Murphy of Texas, and Kenneth Roy, Johnny carter and Willie Frank Carter, all of Rochester, N.Y.; and three grandchildren.
A wake was held at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 11 inside the Butler Memorial Chapel at Myers Funeral Home in Woodbine.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 12 at 11 a.m. at Georgia Avenue Church of God in Kingsland, with Dr. Charles Buck officiating. Interment was at Evergreen Cemetery in the Kinlaw community of Woodbine.
Active and honorary pallbearers were coworkers from Aventis Crop Science Company.
Myers Funeral Home of Woodbine was in charge of arrangements.

JONES - Karen Treffs Jones, 56, of St. Marys died on Friday, June 8, 2001 at Shands Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Fla.
Jones was a native of Brooklyn, N.Y. She had resided in Camden County for more than seven years. She was the manager of Atlantic Coast Title Company.
Jones was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church of St. Marys, American Business Women's Association and Friends of Greyhounds as Pets.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Earl Jones of St. Marys; two daughters, Cynthia Marie Goldstein of Gulf Port, Fla. and Donna Marie Frost of Sarasota, Fla.; and five grandchildren, Ashley Frost, Lindsey Frost, Glenn Frost Jr., Joseph Lee Reid and Austin Michael Reid.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, June 10 at 8 p.m. from Allison Memorial Chapel of St. Marys, with Pastor William Mac Flowers officiating. Visitation was held prior to services from 6 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Friends of Greyhounds as Pets, P.O. Box 54249, Jacksonville, Fla. 32245 - 4249.
Allison Memorial Chapel of St. Marys was in charge of arrangements.

FLOYD - Hiron "Buster" Floyd, 86, of St. Marys died on Tuesday, June 5, 2001 at his home.
Floyd was born to Johnny and Onnie Bell Floyd on Oct. 25, 1914 in St. Marys. He was affiliated with the Wheeler Street Church of God as a deacon.
Floyd was married to the late Reatha Mae Floyd.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Floyd; 24 children, Charles (Joyce), Hiron (Bernadette), Constance (George - deceased), Theola (Charles), Idella (Bernard), Judy (Calvin), Patricia (Carl), Reather Gail (Raymond - deceased), Dennis (Alice) Wayne (Gail), Shelton (Diane), Terry (Ernestine), Valarie (Nathan), Rosalyn, Vanessa (Marceus), Onnie Bell (Sean), Ronald, Hiram, Patricia (Bryan), Ptomely, Michell (John), Annanday (John), Paul and Sharleen.
Survivors also include 78 grandchildren; 91 great - grandchildren; and two great - great - grandchildren. Special friends consist of Frank Williams and Bernard Green; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and a mother - in - law, sisters - in - law and brother - in - law, all of Guyana, South America.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, June 10 at 1 p.m. at Wheeler Street Church of God with Pastor Verdell Griffin Sr. and Pastor Reather Gail Campbell officiating.
Active pallbearers were Charles Floyd Jr., Dwight Jones, Keith Floyd, Bryan Jones, Tracy Livingston, Raymond Campbell III, Carl Jenkins Jr. and Steve Campbell.
Honorary pallbearers were Frank Williams, Matthew Jones, Billy Wilson, Sammie L.Campbell, Ronald Washington, Ulysses Pinkney, Artie Jones Sr., Ivy Ross, Min. Willie Overstreet and George Raysor Jr.
Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
Sunset Funeral Home of Kingsland was in charge of arrangements.

WALKO - Stanley George Walko Sr., 82, of St. Marys died on Friday, June 8, 2001 at his residence.
Walko was born in Pennsylvania. He was a prior resident of Port St. Joe, Fla. and had been a resident of St. Marys for 46 years. He served in the U.S. Army for seven years, and was most recent a retired pipefitter from Gilman Paper Company.
He was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in West Newton, Pa., a member of AARP Camden County in St. Marys and a member of the Quale Historical Society in Camden County.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred H. Walko of St. Marys; two daughters and son - in - law, Iris Walko and Marian and Phillip Howell, all of Wewahitchka, Fla.; three sons, Michael A. Walko of St. Marys, Stanley G. Walko Jr. of Kinard, Fla. and Roland Hernandez of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Josephine Miller of Eldersburg, Md.; a brother, Joseph "Wink" Walko of West Newton, Pa.; five grandchildren; two great - grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Rosary service was held at 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 10 at the funeral home and visitation followed until 9 p.m.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 11 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic church in St. Marys. Interment followed in Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
Active pallbearers were Howard Jones, Henry Buchanan, Dwight McCollough, Ken Day, Donnie Rominger, Lance Weldon, Robert McCullers and Lawton Teston.
Honorary pallbearers were members of International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local #1128, co - workers from Gilman Paper Company and AARP Camden County Chapter of St. Marys.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church or Hospice of the Golden Isles.

MOLE - Alexander H. Mole Jr., 57, of Woodbine died on Wednesday, June 6, 2001 at Shands Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla.
Mole was born in Orlando, Fla. He had been a resident of Camden County for 20 years. He was employed with Ellis & Gross Contractors of Kingsland.
Mole was an avid collector and restorer of antique cars. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Wendy A. Horne and Rebecca Dawn Mole, both of Woodbine; a son, Mark Alexander Mole of Woodbine; his mother, Wilma Mole of Woodbine; a sister, Cynthia Ellis of Woodbine; two granddaughters, Kayla and Cheyanna Horne, both of Woodbine; two nephews; and his fiancee, Shirley Horne of Woodbine.
The family received friends on Saturday, June 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Edo Miller Dekle Wainwright Funeral Home.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 10 at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys, officiated by Pastor Lewis Norwood.

TYSON - Channie Tyson, 68, of Woodbine died Sunday, June 10, 2001 at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla.
She was born on May 27, 1933 to Robert and Willie Mae Hamilton of White Oak and was educated in the Camden County School System. She met and married Franklin Tyson Sr. in 1951 and together they had four children.
She is survived by her husband, Franklin Tyson Sr.; a son, Franklin Tyson Jr.; three daughters, Verneicea (Clifton) Butler, Veronica (Jimmy) Gordon; Victoria (Johnnie) Pinkney; three brothers, Caesar J. (Rena) Hamilton, Leroy Hamilton and Joseph Hamilton; all of Camden County; two sisters, Hagar Mungin of Jacksonville, Fla., and Rebecca (Jonathan) Carter of Woodbine.
Myers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Tyson will lie in state in the Jacob Butler Memorial Chapel at Myers Funeral Home in Woodbine prior to the funeral service.
The funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2001 at Miracle Temple Outreach Ministries in Woodbine, with Dr. E.C. Livingston Jr. officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends. Camden County Sheriff's Department will provide active pallbearers.
Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in White Oak.

RHONE - Houston Rhone Sr., 85, of St. Marys died on Sunday, July 29, 2001.
Rhone was the fourth child of the late Alexander and Victoria Butler Rhone. He was born in Camden County on July 13, 1916.
Rhone joined Young Zion Baptist Church at an early age and became deacon under the leadership of his pastor. He served faithfully until his health began to fail.
He retired from Gilman Paper Company in 1981. He was married to the late Mildred Armstrong Rhone.
Survivors include one daughter, Marion Murray (Cleon) of St. Marys; two sons, Houston Rhone Jr. (Gwendolyn) of St. Marys and Tyrone Rhone (Leila) of Atlanta; two sisters, Vernita Jenkins and Arline Robinson, both of St. Marys; one grandson, James Rhone; two sisters - in - law, Barbara Rhone of St. Marys and Della Armstrong of Houston, Texas; a goddaughter, Ella Wilson; devoted cousin, Deacon Wordie Hubbard; devoted friends, Frank Moore, Deacon Kelly Hubbard and Ethel Lee Glover; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Aug. 4 at 11 a.m. at Young Zion Baptist Church, with Pastor Quan D. Glover officiating. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
Honorary pallbearers were officers of Young Zion Baptist Church. Active pallbearers were nephews.
Sunset Funeral Home of Kingsland was in charge of arrangements.
