James H. "Jim" Cameron, 71
SWAINSBORO - Graveside service for James Hampton "Jim" Cameron, 71, was held Friday, March 10, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Dellwood. with Scott Hudson and Dr. Gerald Holsonback officiating. He died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at his residence.
Mr. Cameron was a native of Long County, retired with Coca - Cola and was Baptist. He was a former member of the Swainsboro High School Athletic Booster Club and an avid Georgia Southern University Eagle fan and member of the Emanuel County Eagle Club. He was preceded in death by a great - grandson, Ayden Andrew Stevens.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Tuten Cameron of Swainsboro; two daughters and sonsin law, Renee C. and Ricky Smith and Angie and Dr. Brad Headley all of Swainsboro; two sons and daughters - in - law, Ronnie and Susan Cameron of Swainsboro; and Steve and Melonia Cameron of North Augusta, S.C.; one brother - inlaw, Dr. Irving Rudman of Frankfort, Ill.; 11 grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.
Pallbearers were Cameron Smith, Clay Smith, Jeoffery Cameron, Jeb Cameron, Josey Cameron, Andy Stevens, Jamie Giles and Jimmy McNeely. Honorary pallbearers were the Thursday Night Card Club.

Margaret Hall Purcell, 86
SWAINSBORO - Funeral for Margaret Hall Purcell, 86, was held Friday, March 10, 2006 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Blankenship officiating. Burial was in Swainsboro City Cemetery. She died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Purcell was a native of Emanuel County, retired after 25 years with the Federal Reserve Bank in Jacksonville, FL and from the Emanuel County Tax Accessors Office after 20 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Agape Sunday School Class and a past member of Beta Sigma Phi, Jacksonville, Fla. Chapter.
Survivors inlcude an aunt, Grace Kent of Swainsboro; nephews and niece, David and Martha Kent of Swainsboro; and Edward Canady of St. Mary's; great nieces, Kathy Jones of Swainsboro; Caroline McMillan of Statesboro; and Suzanne Canady of Virginia.
Pallbearers were Gene Hall, Julian Sconyers, Pete Rountree, Tony Oglesby, Daryl Gray, Ken Purcell. Honorary escorts will be members of the Agape Sunday School Class.

Zora P. Meadows, 102
WADLEY - Funeral for Zora P. Meadows, 102, was held Thursday, March 9, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Wadley Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Harrison and Rev. Donald Lumpkin officiating. Burial was in Wadley Cemetery. She died Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at Jefferson County Hospital in Louisville.
Mrs. Meadows was born in Johnson County and had lived in Wadley for the past 40 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Wadley Baptist Church where she was a member of Victory Bible Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Massey W. Meadows; her daughter, Pamela Akridge; and her greatgrandson, Jeremy Blake Meadows.
Survivors include a son, Donald Meadows of Wadley; a granddaughter, Brande Akridge Brady of Oak Park; a grandson, Jeremy P. Meadows of Midville; four great - granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Benjie Leaptrott, David Way, Jimmy Price, Kenny Everette and Ollie Freeman Jr.
Smith Funeral Home of Wadley had charge of arrangements.

Marjorie Coffey Applegate, 89
SWAINSBORO - Funeral for Marjorie Coffey Applegate, 89, was held Monday, March 13th, at 2 PM at First Baptist Church in Swainsboro with Dr. Robert Blankenship officiating. Interment was in the Swainsboro City Cemetery. She died on Saturday, March 11, 2006 at the Eastview Nursing Center in Macon. Mrs. Applegate was born in Ashland, LA., on November 11, 1916, and was a resident of Swainsboro, since 1953. She was a graduate of Northwestern Louisiana State Teachers College, Natchitoches, LA., and taught elementary school for 28 years. In Swainsboro, she taught fifth grade for 23 years. Mrs. Applegate was a member of the First Baptist Church of Swainsboro and its Faithful Workers Sunday School Class and Women's Missionary Union. She served as a voluntary coordinator of mission services for families needing assistance. She was very active in retirement as a volunteer at Emanuel County Medical Center. She was honored for giving over 2, 500 hours of service to the hospital. She was a past President of the Auxiliary of the Emanuel County Medical Center. Mrs. Applegate was a member of the Emanuel County Retired Educators Association and served as secretary for eight years. As a member of Ladies of the Shrine and their "Sewing Club, " Mrs. Applegate made hospital gowns for the Shriners' Children' Hospital. She also served as a Red Cross Blood Drive volunteer. Mrs. Applegate was an avid bridge player and enjoyed sewing as a hobby. She also enjoyed travel with friends and family and activities with the "Happy Rovers" of the Swainsboro First Baptist Church. Mrs. Applegate was preceded in death by her parents, Harrison B. and Alice B. Coffey of Ashland, LA., three brothers, Elton Coffey, Hubert Coffey and Doyle Coffey; sister, Kate Coffey; and her husband, James Henry Applegate, Sr., of Swainsboro. Survivors include her children, Rosalyn A. Thomas (Karl) of Albany, James H. Applegate, Jr. (Diane) of Hiawassee, Richard M. Applegate (Rose) of St. Simons Island, Mary Alice Applegate of Macon, Steven J. Applegate (Janice) of St. Simons Island. Grandchildren are, J. Hunter Thomas (Carla) of Leesburg, Karl H. Thomas (Leslie) of St. Simons Island, Barbara B. Malone (Adam) of Atlanta, James Berry of Marietta, J. Nelson Kunes (Christy) of Tifton, Joseph W. Applegate of St. Simons Island, and Patrick A. Kunes of Atlanta. 5 great - grandchildren, 4 nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were grandsons and great - grandsons. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Swainsboro, or to the Foundation of Emanuel Medical Center, Swainsboro. SWAINSBORO - Funeral for Mary Lee Page, age 88, was held Sunday, March 12th, at 2 PM at Mt. Shady Baptist Church with Rev. Wilmer Hall and Rev.Wayne Page officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Shady Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Donny Bush officiating. She died Friday, March 10, 2006, at the Swainsboro Nursing Home after an extended illness. Mrs. Page was a native of Johnson County but lived most of her life in Emanuel County. She was a homemaker and member of Mt. Shady Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband George Page and grandson, Mike Wilkes. Survivors include seven daughters, Bessie Branson and Lloyd of Albany; Myrtle Spence of Midville; Shelba and husband, Gene Wilkes; Lela Spence; Lavon and husband, Thomas Woods and Della Holt, all of Swainsboro; and Dawn and husband, Vince Larkin of Aiken, S.C.; Five sons, James and wife, Mary Page; Mack and wife, Mary Paige, both of Cumming; Rev. Wayne and wife, Catherine Page of Metter; Ralph and wife, Sue Page of Adrian; and Steve and wife, Janet Page of Swainsboro; One sister, Adel Bird of Swainsboro; 34 Grandchildren, 34 Great - Grandchildren, and 6 Great Great - Grandchildren. Pallbearers were grandsons, Jason Page, Lenon Page, Kanon Page, Ashley Page, Jeremy Page, Chad Page, Tommy Woods, Walter Spence, Chris Scott, Clint Eller, Ranzie Jackson, Bryson Larkin, Matt Holt, Chris Holt, Ashton Larkin, K.C. Paige, Daniel Paige and Ricky Jackson. Honorary pallbearers were deacons of Mt. Shady Baptist Church, Ray Goodman, Ed Jones, Ray Henry, Courtney Terwilliger, and nephews. Peebles - Curry - Durden Mortuary had charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hilliard W. Cockfield
AUGUSTA - Funeral for Mr. Hilliard William Cockfield was held Saturday, March 4, 2006 at 3:00 PM at the Crawford Avenue Chapel with Rev. Paul Fowler officiating. Interment followed in Westover Memorial Park. The beloved husband of Hattie Cockfield entered into rest Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. A native of Emanuel County, Mr. Cockfield was the owner of Hicks Supply Company. He was a US Navy Veteran having served during World War II and in the South Pacific. He was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Augusta. Survivors other than his wife, Hattie Cockfield of Augusta include two daughters, Belinda Shaw and her husband Randy of Griffin; and Mary Ann Ward of Augusta; one brother, Tim and his wife, Merle Cockfield of Jesup, and three grandchildren, Joshua Ward, Marc Shaw and David Shaw. Pallbearers were Marc Shaw, David Shaw, Chip Anderson, Mike Donaldson, Benjie Donaldson, Andy Walden and George Sturgis. The members of the Trinity Sunday School Class of the First Presbyterian Church were Honorary Pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home - Bus Fund, 1101 15th Street Augusta, Georgia 30901. Platt's Funeral Home of Augusta had charge of arrangements.

Wilmer C. Guinn, 80
TWIN CITY - Funeral for Wilmer C. Guinn, 80, was held Monday, Dec. 26, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Southern Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, with the Elder Tommy Rountree officiating. Burial was in Lousiville City Cemetery. He died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005 at his residence after an extended illness.

Thomas Edward Sause Jr., 55
BARTOW - Funeral for Thomas Edward Sause, Jr., 55, was held Friday, Dec. 30, 2005 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Peebles - CurryDurden Mortuary with Father Vic Subb officiating. Burial was in Eastbrook Cemetery. He died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005.

Kenneth I. Boatright, 66

MERIDIAN, MISS. - Graveside services for Kenneth Ivey Boatright, 66, was held Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. David Chandler officiating. He died Friday, Dec. 23, 2005, at Heartfelt Hospice. He was buried with full military honors.

Rubie Johnson Gay, 89

EASTMAN - Funeral for Rubie Johnson Gay, 89, will be held Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Garfield with Elder Tommy Rountree and Rev. Ray Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Hebron Cemetery in Garfield. She died Monday, Jan. 9, 2006 at Heart of Georgia Nursing Home.

Albert Clopton “A.C” Saffold, 84

OAK PARK - Funeral for Albert Clopton “A.C.” Saffold, 84, was held Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Murchison Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Jarrell officiating. Burial was in Pinecrest Cemetery with military and Sons of Confederate Veterans honors. He died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006.

Rilla York Green, 80

LOUISVILLE - Funeral for Rilla York Green, 80, was held Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Peebles - Curry - Durden Mortuary with the Rev. Ed Deen officiating. Burial was in Swainsboro City Cemetery. She died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, at Glendale Nursing Home in Wadley after an extended illness.

Jennifer LaNell Crenshaw, 28

CLAXTON - Memorial service for Jennifer LaNell Crenshaw, 28, was held Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006 at 3 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Reidsville. David Velucchi delivered the discourse. She died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta after a brief illness.

Hazel Harris Patrevito, 54

SWAINSBORO - Graveside service for Hazel Harris Patrevito, 54, will be held Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006 at 1 p.m. in KnowlesEden Cemetery in Meadows of Dan, Va. She died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006 at her residence in Swainsboro after an extended illness.

Wallace Leroy Edenfield, 71

LYONS - Funeral for Wallace Leroy Edenfield, 71, was held Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006 at 3 p.m. at Rock Worship Center with Rev. Ronnie Collins officiating. He died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006 at his residence.

James Monroe Spearman, 80
ADRIAN - Funeral for James Monroe Spearman, 80, was held Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Swainsboro with Rev. Earl Robinson and Chris Spearman officiating. Burial was in the Braswell Family Cemetery near Adrian with military honors. He died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006 at Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin.
Mr. Spearman was a native and lifelong resident of Emanuel County. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1946. He was a farmer. He was chosen Man of the Year in Agriculture in Emanuel County in 1958 and in 1973 by the Agribusiness Council for his outstanding service. He had been chosen in third place as outstanding young farmer in the state of Georgia in 1963. He was a member of Georgia Farm Bureau for 60 years.
Survivors include his wife, Polly Spearman of Adrian; two daughters, Jennie Hodges and Alesia Rich of Swainsboro; two sons, Bruce Spearman of Adrian; and Tyron Spearman of Tifton; seven sisters, Lanell Schrimschier of Alabama; Joyce Thompson, Francine Durberly and Jean Lord of Jacksonville, Fla.; Angie Clark of LaGrange, Fla.; Jimmy Lee Morris of Kelly, Iowa; and Cheryl Finney of Pittsburgh, Pa.
Pallbearers were George Frederick, Brian Frederick, Johnny McCuen, Neal Nichols, Reagan Moxley and Richard Phillips. Honorary pallbearers were members of Norristown Hunting Club, Ned Nichols, Bob Youmans, Don Wilkes, Ezra Price, Neal Brown, Joe Jackson, Tom Lewis, Ephriam Turner, Earl Morris, Jay Lawson and Tyson Stephens.
Tomlinson Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Math ‘Buddy’ Sconyers, 80
SWAINSBORO - Funeral for Math “Buddy” Sconyers, Jr., 80, was held Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Peebles - Curry - Durden Mortuary with Elder Tommy Rountree officiating. Burial was in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery near Kite. He died Monday, Jan. 16, 2006 at Emanuel Medical Center after an extended illness.
Mr. Sconyers was a native of Emanuel County and was a US Army World War II veteran. He was owner and operator of Sconyers Grist Mill, a member of Citizens Bank Coffee Club and Emanuel County Sportsman Club. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Moxley Sconyers.
Survivors include his wife, Eunice Scott Sconyers of Swainsboro; two daughters, Linda Sconyers and Karen Irvin of Swainsboro; one son, Don Scott of Moultrie; one sister, Lorene “Monk” Canady of Swainsboro; one brother, Sam Sconyers of Swainsboro; five grandchildren and two great - grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Math Bennett, Brad Wright, Chad Canady, Lee Canady, Danny Moxley, Sammy Sconyers and Don Rountree.

Billy C. Hendley, 69
SWAINSBORO - Funeral for Billy C. Hendley, 69, was held Thursday, Jan. 19, 2005 at 3 p.m. in the Blundale Baptist Church with Rev. Jamie Archer and Rev. Ray Jenkins officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. He died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006, at the Emanuel Medical Center after an extended illness.
Mr. Hendley was a native of Orlando, Fla. but lived all of his life in Emanuel County. He was retired from the US Marine Corps and the Carl A. Vincent Medical Center in Dublin. He was a member and deacon of Blundale Baptist Church and was a member of the Maggie Lee Garrett Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ezra and Bell Hendley; and sister, Madlyn Wimberly.
Survivors include his wife, Celia Anderson Hendley of Swainsboro; one daughter and son - inlaw, Pamela and Lyn Keyton of Swainsboro; one son and daughter - in - law, Tim and Tammy Hendley of Swainsboro; four grandchildren, Emily and Lauren Hendley and Chris and Miley Keyton of Swainsboro; and one stepgranddaughter, Ashley Cowart of Midville.
Pallbearers were Clifford Young, Bob Frecker, Pete Rountree, Ken Warnock, Irvin Cox, and Mike Williams. Honorary pallbearers were the deacons and brotherhood of Blundale Baptist Church.

Sarah Sybil Portwood Flanders, 88
SAVANNAH - Funeral for Sarah Sybil Portwood Flanders, 88, was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23, 2006 at Holy Church of God with Rev. Ryan Ralston and Rev. David Traywick officiating. Burial was held at Swainsboro City Cemetery. She died Thursday, Jan 19, 2006 at Hospice Savannah, Inc.
Mrs. Flanders was born in Emanuel County and was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Arthur and Sarah Nannie Pearl Hayes Portwood. She was a member of the Holy Church of God for over 50 years, and the Golden Apples Sunday School Class. She was a homemaker who enjoyed flower gardening and traveling with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great - grandmother. Survivors include her husband, Jordan Estus “Preacher” Flanders of Savannah; two daughters and sons - in - aw, Janice and J.C. Davis of Savannah; and Nancy and Wayne Gunter of Richmond Hill; two grandchildren, Clinton and Becky Davis of Richmond Hill; and Debra and Mike Gadomski of Guyton; three great grandchildren, Jordan and Jesse Davis and Alanmikel Gadomski, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were David Flanders, Bobby Stalnaker, Glen Portwood, Lonnie Portwood, Larry Braswell, and Don Braswell. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Michael, Dr. Eugene and members of the Golden Apple Sunday School Class.
Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home of Savannah had charge of arrangements.
