Randall (Buttercup) Coleman, 68

Randall (Buttercup) Coleman, 68 died Tuesday, July 15, 2008, after an extended illness. The native of Emanuel County lived most of his life in the Vidalia area where he was a member of Cedar Crossing Baptist Church. Randall was a line supervisor with Georgia Power, retiring in 1995. He was very proud of his talented musical family and loved hearing them perform. He was an avid deer hunter, loved NASCAR, the Atlanta Braves, and attending classic car shows.
Survivors: his wife of 49 years, Jeanette Moore Coleman; children: Melinda Sue (Leslie R. “Butch”) May of Waldorf, MD, Rhonda Jean (John F.) Morgan of Vidalia, John (Carla Jean) Coleman of Tarrytown, Cathy Whitfield (Don Kennedy) of Metter; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Lee Humphrey of Vidalia, Bonnie Ree Drury of Lyons, and Grace Cowart of Center. Randall was predeceased by his parents, John Henry and Lindy Salome Foskey Coleman, and brother John Henry Coleman Jr.
A celebration of life will be held 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2008, at Cedar Crossing Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers remembrances to Community Hospice, P.O. Box 2277, Vidalia, GA. 30474; or Cedar Crossing Baptist Church, P.O. 157, Uvalda, GA. 30437; or Vidalia Church of God Social Hall Building Fund, 401 Adams Street, Vidalia, GA. 30474

James Eston Dyal, 87

James Eston Dyal, 87, passed away Monday, July 21, 2008, at Candler Hospital in Savannah. He was born and raised in Appling County, Georgia before moving to Glennville where he was the owner and operator of Dixie Auto Parts until his retirement. He was a loving husband, grandfather and an avid hunter and fisherman, knowing Fort Stewart like a book. He loved drag racing, building racecars and his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Ida Pearl Dyal.
He is survived by a special niece, Marie “Tiny” Sellers, of Jesup, GA; step - son, Mike Crummey of Glennville; sisters, Meta Bullard of Jacksonville, FL, Lillian Padon of Jesup, GA and Lottie Mae Johnson of Baxley, GA; brother, Lorace Dyal of Baxley, GA; seven grandchildren, nine great - grandchildren; four great - great grandchildren and other relatives.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ernest Dyal officiating. Burial followed in Loves Chapel Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Daniel Crummey, Brandon Crummey, Keith DeLoach, Al Randall, Albert Dyal and Selina Dyal.
The family will appreciate flowers, but prefer that remembrances be made to the Pledger House, 211 N. Caswell St., Glennville, GA 30427.

John W. “Bill” Hammock Jr., 53

John W. “Bill” Hammock Jr., age 53 of Swainsboro, GA, died Friday, July 11, 2008, at the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, after an extended illness.
Mr. Hammock was a native of Emanuel County, co - owner of Emanuel Peanut & Grain Mill and Cooter Creek Farms and also attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton. He was retired from UPS, a farmer, a member of Mt. Shady Baptist Church and attended Emanuel Christian Ministries. He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Johnnie Bell Sullivan Hammock, and his brother, Harold Hammock.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa Hammock of Swainsboro, GA.; one daughter and son - in - law, Maria and Brian Holland of Reidsville, GA; one son and daughter - in - law, Eric and Crystal Hammock of Swainsboro, GA; one sister and brother - in - law, Romona and Bunny Hudson of Swainsboro, GA; two grandchildren, Tucker Holland of Reidsville, GA and Molly Hammock of Swainsboro, GA.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 15, 2008, in Emanuel Christian Ministries, with the Rev. Bunny Hudson officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Shady Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Randy Fagler, Jamey Oglesby, Steve Johnson, Keith Howard, Thomas Henry, Lonnie Smith, Keith Thompson, and Clay Hall. Honorary Pallbearers were John Deere Employees, FSA Office Employees, UPS Employees, Emanuel Peanut and Grain Mill Employees, Keith and Kathy Claxton, Wes and Amy Way, Harrison Smith, Bobby Claxton, Edward Claxton, John Claxton, Larry Claxton, Lynn Edenfield, Frank Ellis, John George Claxton, Ronnie Cameron, Mickey Garnto, Charlie Larisey and Swainsboro High School Football Players.

John Joseph Hutchinson, 59

John Joseph Hutchinson, 59, of Reidsville, GA, passed away July 20, 2008, at the Glendale Nursing Home in Wadley, GA, after an extended illness. Funeral services will be private.
Mr. Hutchinson was a native of Camden County, NJ. He was a member of the Baptist faith. He was a retired flooring installer and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include a son, John J. Hutchinson Jr.; daughter, Jeannie (D.J.) Bradshaw; grandsons, Troy Hutchinson and Wyatt Bradshaw, all of Hawkinsville, GA; sister, Sara (Michael) Alexander; one niece, three nephews and one great - nephew, all of Warner Robins, GA.

Dennis Bacon White, 50

Dennis Bacon White, 50, passed away Tuesday morning, July 15, 2008, at his home after a brief illness. Dennis grew up and graduated from high school in Swainsboro. He attended the University of Georgia and was a member of the Red Coats Marching Band. He served in the United States Navy, and spent most of his Navy tenure aboard a submarine assigned to the Mediterranean. After an honorable discharge, Dennis completed a B.S. degree at Armstrong University and taught middle school science in the Chatham County School System, for a number of years. After leaving the teaching profession, Dennis was a field technical representative in the Southeastern U.S. District for Telesat Canada until his death. He was an avid outdoorsman, and a frequent tournament player and long - time member of the Swainsboro Golf and Country Club. He was a competitive fisherman and a member of the Ohoopee Bass Masters Club.
Dennis was the only son of the late Joan B. and J.D. White. He is survived by his aunt, Mrs. Joe N. White of Beaverton, AL; first cousins, Jon and Lester Kaney of Ormond Beach, FL, Kathryn Kaney of Glennville; Diane Hankins of Macon, MS, Vickie Norwood of Beaverton, AL, and Steve White of Millport, AL; his beloved longtime housekeeper and friend of the family, Miss Mary Smith and a very large extended family.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 18, 2008, at Beards Creek Church Cemetery, with Reverend Vance Riggins officiating.
Pallbearers were Kenny Banks, Wayne Brewton, Mike Farrow, Phil Hiltbrunner, Steve Rush and Frank Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Maggie Banks, Brent Blocker, Charles Blocker, Joseph Easterling, Chris Farrow and Josh Wimberly.
The family prefers that, in lieu of flowers, remembrances be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, 200 Donehoo Street, Statesboro, GA 30458.

Laverne W. Akins, 67

Laverne W. Akins, age 67, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at her residence.
Laverne was born on February 27, 1941, in Tattnall County, Georgia to George L. and Robie Wilson. She is preceded in death by her son, Fred Jasper Akins, her parents, a brother and four sisters.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Fred Akins; a daughter Donna L. Akins both of Corpus Christi, Texas; two sisters, Barbara (Jimmy) Vincent of Savannah, Georgia, Mary (Paul) Howrey of Richland, North Carolina; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, friends and neighbors.
A funeral service was held on Monday, August 4, 2008, at the Seaside Funeral Home Chapel, and interment followed at Seaside Memorial Park.
A special thanks to Vista Care Home Hospice for all their efforts and hard work.

Lorie Collins Anderson, 86

Mrs. Lorie Collins Anderson, 86, went to eternal rest on Sunday August 3, 2008, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice House in Statesboro, surrounded by her family and friends. The Tattnall County native had lived in the Hillview Community all of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of the Rogers Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Burtie and Minnie Collins; brother, Clifford Collins; sons, Charles B. Anderson and Ronnie J. Anderson; and grandson, Al Anderson.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Jeff Anderson of the Hillview Community; two daughters - in - law, Lois Anderson of Collins and Gail Rushing of Richmond Hill; three sisters, Bertha Shuman, Adell Sapp, both of Collins, and Martha Jane Sikes, of Metter; one brother, J.H. Collins of Lyons; five grandchildren, Sheri and Randy Hendrix of Claxton, Danny and Michelle Anderson of Perkins, Keith and Joanna Anderson of Sylvania, Ricky and Tabatha Anderson of Collins and Melanie and Ed Galbreath of Richmond Hill; eight great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Danny Anderson, Keith Anderson, Ricky Anderson, Randy Hendrix, Edward Galbreath, and Travis Anderson. Honorary pallbearers were Harley Hendrix and Austin Lewis.
Funeral Services were held Wednesday, August 6, 2008, from the Chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home in Reidsville. Interment followed in the Old Anderson Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30459.

Virginia Cohen Cavallaro, 82

Virginia Cohen Cavallaro, 82, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2008, at Doctor’s Hospital in Reidsville. She was born in Screven County, graduated from Glennville High School (Class of 1943) and lived in Absecon, New Jersey for many years, prior to moving back to Glennville in 1972. While living in New Jersey she worked with A & P Grocery Stores, and as a lingerie model and a snow ski instructor. After moving to Glennville she worked with Waters Red and White, Waters Bi - Rite and Piggly - Wiggly Grocery Stores, where she retired in 2006 after 45 years of service. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church where she was instrumental in the Toys for Tots program. She was best known for her cheesecakes, quilting and ceramics.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carman Cavallaro; mother, Louise Dixon Youmans and brother, Billy Cohen.
She is survived by a sister and brother - in - law, Peggy and Roy Woods of Glennville; special aunt, Mary Mangum of Glennville; sister - in - law, Lorine Cohen of Glennville; nephews, Eddie Cohen and Norman Cohen of Glennville; niece, Pam Brannen of Glennville; great - nieces, Risha Cohen, Amanda Cohen and Erin Cohen; great - nephews, Darren Cohen and Jeremy Brannen.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 6, 2008, from the Chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home with Father Tom Murphy and Deacon Louis Andruzzi officiating. Burial followed in Stoney Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Bugajski, James Bugajski, Clayton Dutton, David Dutton, Terry Waters and Jimmy Johnson.

Patricia Barnard DeLoach, 51

Patricia Barnard DeLoach, 51, passed away Friday, August 1, 2008, at her residence under the care of Georgia Home Hospice. The Tattnall County native had lived in this area most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Madison Street Baptist Church of Starke, FL. She is preceded in death by a son, Scott DeLoach.
She is survived by her husband, Roy DeLoach; son and daughter - in - law, Roy Jr. and Vicki DeLoach; granddaughter, Kaylee DeLoach, all of Ludowici; brothers, Mitchell Barnard of Ryepatch and Wayne Mobley of Glennville; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services were held at Pigot Branch Church Cemetery, August 3, 2008, with Reverend Bryan Anderson officiating.
Pallbearers were Andrew Meadows, Vincent Meadows, James DeLoach, IV, Mike McCall, Brad Baxter and Jason Duke.

William H. “Bill” McBride, 68

William H. “Bill” McBride, 68, of Peachtree City, died Sunday, August 3, 2008.
He is survived by his wife, Linda F. McBride; children, Debbie and Alan Travis of Sharpsburg, Mike and Teresa McBride of Hampton, Scott and Samantha McBride of Smyrna; grandchildren, Patrick and Nicole Travis of Sharpsburg, Zakery Daniel of Hampton; brother, Walter T. McBride of Charlotte; sister, Catherine M. and Wayne Smith of Raleigh and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at the Peachtree City First Presbyterian Church with Dr. David Miller officiating. Interment followed at the Macon Memorial Park Cemetery in Macon, GA.
Carl J. Mowell and Son Funeral Home of Peachtree City was in charge of the arrangements.
