IOWA CITY - Michael LeRoy Lillig, age 63, of Iowa City, died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, from complications of a stroke. Mick was born icon July 6, 1941, in Keota, to Frank and Veronica (Woltering) Lillig and graduated from Keota High School in 1959. On July 6, 1963, he married icon Jayne Coffman at St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota. The couple lived in Keota until moving to Iowa City in 1994. Mick worked for River Products Company for 41 years, where he was a board member, director, vice president and co - owner. Mick was also president of Shamrock Construction, LLC and vice president of Petroleum Services Company. He was a member of the following industry organizations: Iowa Limestone Producers Association, Associated General Contractors of Iowa, Asphalt Paving Association of Iowa and the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association. He was also a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Iowa City. Survivors include his wife: Jayne of Iowa City; three sisters: Anna Altenhofen of Kellogg, Barbara Lyle of Sigourney and Mary Jane Shaffer of Washington; a brother - in - law: James Coffman and wife Claudette of Iowa City; a daughter - in - law: Teresa Lillig Lineer; his mother - in - law: Lillian Coffman of Keota; seven aunts and uncles, including special aunt and uncle, Margaret and LeRoy Lillig; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son: Christopher in 1996 and father - in - law: James Coffman, Sr. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 25, 2004, at the Holy Trinity Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota with Rev. Marty Goetz of St. Mary Church in Keota and Rev. Rudolph Juarez of St. Patrick’s Church in Iowa City officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2004, at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota, where there will be a prayer service at 8:00 p.m. Saturday. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Mick’s name. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is handling the arrangements.

Williamsburg - Lillie Emma (Glandorf) Doehrmann was born icon August 10, 1914 in Iowa County near Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Herman and Gesina Baack Glandorf. She was baptized on September 6, 1914 by Pastor Bonovsky at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Williamsburg. Lillie attended Immanuel Lutheran School and was confirmed April 1, 1928 at Immanuel Lutheran Church by Pastor Uhlmann. Lillie was united in marriage to Arnold Martin John Doehrmann on January 24, 1935 at Immanuel Lutheran Church by Pastor Bostelmann. The couple lived and farmed on the family farm until the death of her husband Arnold on November 3, 1960. Lillie lived on the farm until 1964 when she then moved to Williamsburg. She worked at the Williamsburg High School as a cook for 19 years retiring in 1980. She also volunteered at the Lutheran Interparish School. As member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church she was active in the Women’s Guild and Altar Guild. Lillie became a resident at Colonial Manor Assisted Living the July of 2003. Lillie died Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City after a brief illness at the age of 89 years, 11 months and 10 days. She is survived by four children: Allan (Marcella) Doehrmann of Williamsburg; LaVerne (Bob) Brandt of Reedsville, WI; Don (JoAnne) Doehrmann of Williamsburg and Gerald (Teri) Doehrmann of Minier, IL; a daughter in law: Jan Doehrmann of Williamsburg; 18 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; a brother Arnold Glandorf of Homestead and a sister in law: Leona Doehrmann of Williamsburg. Lillie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Gene Doehrmann September 15, 2002, a brother Ernest Glandorf, eight sisters: Frieda Brandt, Alina Glandorf, Norma Glandorf, Clara Johnson, Loretta Doehrmann, Irma Krueger, infant Alma Glandorf and Elsie Green. Celebration of life service will be Saturday, July 24, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. Pastor Carl Cloeter will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, July 23, 2004 at the Uhlmann - Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg from 3 to 7 P.M. Memorials are for Lutheran Interparish School or St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 24, 2004 at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman with Pastor Don Ridenour officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m Saturday in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati, IA. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00p.m. Friday, July 23rd at the funeral home. She is survived by daughters Linda Polson of Knoxville, IA; Roberta McConnell of West Chester, IA; sons: Richard White of Wellman, IA; and Don White of Sigourney, IA; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren: sisters: Sharon Smithburg of Delta, IA; Lois Hinton of Washington, IA; Pauline Smith of Unionville, MO; June Clay of Arizona City, AZ and Beverly Vest of Wellman; brothers: Robert Milford of Brighton, IA; Ralph Milford of Smyrna, TN; and a sister - in - law Ruby Sumpter of Moulton, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son David Alan White; a daughter Gloria Jean White, and 9 brothers and sisters. Mae was born icon on October 30, 1926 in Cincinnati, IA, a daughter of Ray R. and Bessie Van Blaricom Milford in Cincinnati, IA. She was united in marriage to Robert Frank White on August 24, 1948 in Centerville. She has lived in Centerville, Ottumwa and in Wellman since 1971. She worked at the Red Lion Inn in Ottumwa, the Washington County Home, Captain’s Table in Washington and Kalonial Townhouse in Kalona. Mae enjoyed her WWE wrestling on TV and working crossword puzzles. Robert preceded her in death in 1972. She lived 77 years, 8 months and 20 days.

KEOTA - Margaret “Peg” Riordan, age 69, of Keota, died Saturday, July 17, 2004, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, following a lengthy illness. Margaret was born icon August 16, 1934, in Keota, to Basil and Kathleen (Reddy) Byrne. She graduated from Keota High School and received her degree from the University of Iowa. Margaret lived in Keota most of her life and taught school for several years. She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota and enjoyed walking, reading, visiting the library. She was also an avid fan of the Keota Eagles and Iowa Hawkeyes. Survivors include three children: Michael Riordan and wife Marsha of Oskaloosa, Gregory Riordan of Hermiston, Oregon and Sheila Mackaig and husband Darrell of Downey, California; two step grandchildren: Sherri Reider and husband Jeff and Jeremy Mackaig; two step great grandchildren: Alissa and Dace Reider; three sisters: Patricia Hughes of Redwood City, California, Helen Kimball and husband Curtis of Prairie Village, Kansas and Mary Wolfe and husband Charles of Iowa City; two brothers: Paul H. Byrne and wife Darlene of Davenport and Basil (Skip) Byrne, Jr. and wife Diana of Raleigh, North Carolina and one brother - in - law: John Laux of Fairfield. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister: Rosemary Laux. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2004, at the Holy Trinity Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota with Rev. Marty Goetz officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota, where there will be a rosary and prayer service at 7:00 p.m. A general memorial fund has been established. KEOTA - Ray Eakins, age 62, of Keota, died Thursday, July 15, 2004, at his home, following a courageous battle with cancer. Ray was born icon April 18, 1942, in Davis County, to Dale and Bettie (Ashcraft) Eakins. He graduated from Blakesburg High School and attended LaSalle University in Chicago, where he studied welding. Ray enlisted in the National Guard Engineer Division in Ottumwa, building bridges. Ray came to Keota from Ottumwa to install the equipment at the Ke - Wash fertilizer plant. On August 8, 1964 he married icon JoEllen Peiffer at St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota. Ray was a partner in Tadlock and Osweiler Spray Division (later known as Keota Chemical) and designed a belt conveyor to use in the spreading business to move lime from a dump truck to the spreader. In 1975, Ray and JoEllen formed Ray - Man, Inc., where he began manufacturing lime conveyors. Today, the company manufactures fertilizer tenders and belt conveyors, which are sold throughout the United States and Canada. Ray has coached Little League and Pony League baseball, served on the Keota City Council, has served as president of the Lagos Acres board of directors and Keota Unlimited. He is also a member of Holy Trinity Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Holy Trinity Choir. Ray especially enjoyed golfing and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife: JoEllen of Keota; four children and five grandchildren: Brian and wife Luann (Kelci and Kyle), Bob and wife Amy (Alex, Carly and Jack) and Melinda, all of Keota, and Lori of Iowa City; two sisters: Barb Kampe of Moline, Illinois and Judi Long of Moravia and one brother: Ron Eakins of Ottumwa. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2004, at the Holy Trinity Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota, with Revs. Marty Goetz and Robert Mann officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 2004, at the church, where there will be a prayer service and K.C. rosary at 7:00 p.m. A general memorial fund has been established. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is handling the arrangements.

OTTUMWA - Martin Louis Schroeder, age 88, of Ottumwa, died Monday, July 12, 2004, at the Good Samaritan Center in Ottumwa, following a lengthy illness. Martin was born icon January 17, 1916, at Wellman, Iowa, to Louis and Otalie (Ziehlke) Schroeder and graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1933. He joined his father in the restaurant and bakery business after the death of his mother in 1936. His father died in 1937. Martin married icon Eunice Marie Arp on January 24, 1938, at the Methodist Parsonage in York, Missouri. He joined the Navy in April 1945 and served aboard the L S M 357 in the South Pacific. Following his discharge, the couple moved to Sigourney where Martin and Art Prall formed a partnership in the S & S Shoe Company. Martin retired in 1978 and the couple moved to Bentonville, Arkansas. In April of 1994 they moved to Ottumwa. Martin is a past member of the United Methodist Chuches in Williamsburg and Sigourney and is presently a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Ottumwa. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Williamsburg and the Williamsburg volunteer fire department. He also served on the Sigourney city council. Survivors include his wife: Eunice of Ottumwa; two children: Janice Crissman of Ottumwa and Larry Schroeder and wife Marilyn of Sigourney; three grandsons: Randy Schroeder and wife Jody of Keswick, Terry Schroeder and wife Missy of Sigourney and Mark Crissman and wife Tammy of Minneapolis, Minnesota and eight grandchildren: Ashley, Andrew, Brooke and Allison Schroeder and Kathleen, Mirinda, Laura and Grace Crissman. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson: Bruce Allen Schroeder. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2004, at the Reynolds - Powell Funeral Chapel in Sigourney with Rev. James Stout officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2004, at the funeral chapel. A general memorial fund has been established. Reynolds - Powell Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service in Sigourney is handling the arrangements.

Emma V. Hostetler was born icon Monday, June 6, 1927 near Kalona, Iowa the daughter Peter and Barbara (Miller) Helmuth. She attended the East Lincoln rural school. On October 8, 1950 she was united in marriage to Leslie D. Hostetler at the Fairview Conservative Mennonite Church in rural Kalona. Emma has lived her entire life in the Kalona community where she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Fairview Conservative Mennonite Church, and she enjoyed helping others while she was able. Emma died on Thursday, July 8, 2004 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona following a sudden illness at the age of 77 years. Emma is survived by her husband Leslie of Kalona; 6 children - Carolyn Miller and husband Perry of Kalona; Dale Hostetler and wife Faith of Johns Island, South Carolina; Donald Hostetler and wife Cynthia of Goshen, Indiana; Judy Balbinot and husband Brent of Coralville; Larion Hostetler and wife Ruby of Lynville, Virginia; Phylis Hostetler and husband Marcus of Charleston, South Carolina; 21 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a brother - Paul Helmuth of Kalona; and a sister - Susan Yoder of Fredericksburg, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant granddaughter - Denise Miller; an infant grandson - Blake Miller; 2 brothers - Edgar Helmuth and Raymond Helmuth; and a sister - Katie Yoder.
A general memorial fund has been established.

Jungjohan, Ruby L.

Ruby Lois Jungjohan was born icon April 16, 1914 in North English, Iowa, the daughter of Benjamin Hugh and Effa M. Carmichael Butler. She graduated from North English High School in 1932, then taught school in Iowa and Keokuk Counties until her marriage to Emmet John Jungjohan of Preston, Iowa. The couple moved to Moline, IL where Emmet worked for John Deere and Ruby worked part time with the Moline School System. Eventually Ruby became full - time secretary for the Swedish Olive Insurance Company. She was active in the First Christian Church of Moline and held numerous leadership positions in the Moline chapter of the Royal Neighbors fraternal organization, as well as being active with the Republican Women and the General Federated Women’s Club. Ruby enjoyed almost every form of needlework, she also loved to entertain friends and family and keeping in touch with her seven brothers and sisters and their families. Upon Emmet’s retirement in 1974, the couple purchased and restored the Butler family home and moved back to North English, where both became very active in the Community Center and in area - wide volunteer programs benefitting older Iowans. Emmet died in 1985, after which Ruby fulfilled his term as Iowa County delegate to the Older Iowans Legislature, later being elected herself for three terms, as well as being a member of the Iowa Department of Elder Affairs State Advisory Council. She was also active in the VFW Auxiliary. As an advocate for the aging Ruby served many years as Community Center president, working with the Heritage Agency Task Force on Aging to create a Well Elderly Clinic for Iowa County, Iowa County Commission member for the Hawkeye Community Action Program, representative for Iowa County Health Advisory Board for the North English area. She distinguished herself for leadership and dedicated voluntary community involvement, receiving the Governor’s Volunteer award in 1986 and the Iowa Methodist “Success After 60 award in 1990, followed by recognition as the 1991 Outstanding Senior Citizen of Area Ten. She was a member of the North English Christian Church. Ruby died Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at the Denton Rehabilitation and nursing Center in Denton, Texas after a brief illness at the age of 90 years. She is survived by her son: Gerald and wife Barbara Jungjohan of Denton, Texas; a granddaughter: Elizabeth and husband Cliff Parrish of Bedford; two brothers: Ellsworth and wife Ruth Butler of Castle Rock, CO and Kenneth Butler of Des Moines, Iowa. Also surviving are seven nephews and eleven nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband four brothers and a sister. Memorial service will be Friday, July 16, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. North English Christian Church in North English. Rev. Don Ridenour will officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour before service time at the church. Burial will be in the Lutton Cemetery near North English. Powell Funeral Home in North English are caring for services.

KEOTA - Norma Nadine Baumert, age 71, of Keota, died Friday, July 2, 2004, at the Sigourney Care Center in Sigourney, Iowa, following a courageous battle with cancer. Norma was born icon June 19, 1933, at home in Keota, the daughter of Floyd and Pearl (Brock) Baumert. She was a graduate of Keota High School and a member of the Keota Christian Church. She worked as a nursemaid for numerous families in the Fairfield and Keota areas for many years. She was a member of the Keota Ed Carris Womens Relief Corps No. 221 for twenty years and has been a member - at - large of the Indoor Sports Club, an organization of people with physical disabilities, for 47 years. She enjoyed genealogy and was considered the family historian, keeping records on the Brock and Baumert families. She also enjoyed checkers, cards, crossword puzzles, bird - watching and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include five sisters: Dorothy Dorsey of Sigourney, Marilyn Van Fleet of North English, Darlene Streets of Gladbrook, Margaret Burk of Bucklin, Missouri and Loretta Streigle of Sigourney; six brothers: Donald Baumert of Burlington, Harry Baumert of Sigourney, Glen Baumert of Iowa City, Dennis Baumert of Keota, Larry Baumert of Marion and Gene Baumert of Keota; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews, as well as an extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father: Floyd in 1964; mother: Pearl in 1990 and three brothers: Paul in 1979, Howard in 1988 and Duane in 2000. Celebration of life services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota with Rev. Frances Baumert and Rev. Jim Bringman officiating. Interment will be at Keota Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 5, 2004, at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Keokuk County, the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or the family. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is handling the arrangements.
