Floyd I. Helphrey
The funeral service for Mr. Floyd I. Helphrey, 81, of Mt. Pleasant, who died June 16, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant. Dr. Edward Peterson and Rev. Kiboko Kiboko will officiate. Interment will be in Trinity Cemetery , Mt. Union. Military Rites will be conducted by the American Legion #58, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2561 and AmVets #44. Visitation will begin at noon today at Elliott Chapel, New London, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorials have been established for the Crossroads Hospice, Trinity Cemetery
and the First United Methodist Church, Mt. Pleasant.

Forrest Allen
Forrest E. Allen, 78, of Warsaw, Ill., died Friday, June 15, 2001, at his home.
Born Nov. 15, 1922, in Kahoka, Mo., he was the son of Gurden and Ada Everman Allen.
Mr. Allen worked for Electro Metals in Keokuk for 32 years. He retired in 1985.
He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, serving in North Africa and in the D+3 Day Invasion. He also served in the CC Camp for 2 1/2 years as head baker. He was of the Methodist faith and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. He enjoyed raising and racing thoroughbred horses and won the first Iowa Breeders Futurity. He also enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include one son, F.W. "Bill" Allen of Brunswick, Ga.; three grandchildren; three brothers, Norman Allen of Keokuk, Bob Allen of Ellsworth, Maine, and Charlie Allen of Kahoka; four sisters, Lois Crandall of Smith Grove, Ky., Margaret Allen of Oklahoma, Patty Martin of Blue Springs, Mo., and Judy Gutting of Kahoka; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
There will be no visitation.
A private family graveside service with military rites for Mr. Allen will be in Keokuk National Cemetery , with the Rev. Goldie Laymon officiating.
A memorial has been established for the Keokuk Saddle Club.
Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk is in charge of arrangements.
Frederick Sheffler
Frederick James Sheffler, 73, of Keokuk, died Saturday, June 16, 2001, at his home.
Born Aug. 26, 1927, in Keokuk, he was the son of James and Ethel Hoewing Sheffler. On June 21, 1948, he married Judy Marlin in Keokuk.
Mr. Sheffler worked for St. Louis Diecasting in Keokuk for 10 years. He then became owner of Kumo Foundry in Keokuk, which he operated for five years. He also spent many years as a salesman with Sheffler Real Estate in Keokuk.
He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an Army veteran, attaining the rank of staff sergeant. He enjoyed playing golf and watching the eagles. He also enjoyed building things and had constructed two houses by hand.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Tony Sheffler of Buford, Ga., and Steve Sheffler of Warsaw, Ill.; one daughter, Lisa Wohlfeil of Sterling Heights, Mich.; six grandchildren; two nieces; and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Visitation will begin after 1 p.m. today at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, where the family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Sheffler will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Vigen Memorial Home, with the Rev. Christopher David officiating. Burial will be in Keokuk National Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for Keokuk Christ Vision or Cardinal Stritch High School in Keokuk.
Gordon Stone
Gordon William Stone, 92, of Wapello, died at 4 a.m. Sunday, June 17, 2001, at his home.
Born Sept. 8, 1908, near Arriba, Colo., he was the son of Isaac and Lottie Louise Cutcome Stone. On May 21, 1938, he married Kathleen Wilson in Columbus Junction.
Mr. Stone worked for many years for Pine Motor Co. in Columbus Junction and Wapello. He retired in 1973.
He spent his early adult years in Columbus Junction, moving to Wapello in 1951. He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific. He enjoyed visiting with people, and time at his cabin on the Iowa River near Columbus Junction. He was a member of United Methodist Church at Wapello, Allen Wright Hanft Post 100 American Legion of Columbus Junction, Veterans of Foreign Wars Glenn Allen Post 5166 of Wapello, and a 50-year member of Columbus City Lodge 107 A.F. & A.M.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Brian Stone of Wever; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello.
The funeral for Mr. Stone will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harlan W. Winter officiating. Burial will be in Indian Creek Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for the Iowa City Hospice program and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Jacinto Vasquez
Jacinto "Jack" Vasquez, 61, of West Burlington, died at 2:10 a.m. Sunday, June 17, 2001, at his home.
Born Jan. 24, 1940, in Dallas, he was the son of Joe and Margaret Padilla Vasquez. On Jan. 27, 1956, he married Sara Zamora in Dallas.
Mr. Vasquez was a painter for J.I. Case Co. for 29 years. He retired in 2001.
He was a member of the Apostolic Assembly Church in Bettendorf. He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Corine Cerda of West Burlington; two sons, Mario S. Vasquez of Davenport and Jacinto R. Vasquez of Marion; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ralph Vasquez of Dallas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will begin after 8 a.m. Tuesday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Vasquez will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lunning Chapel, with Brother David Madina officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society.
Lern Prickett
Lern Prickett, 85, of Lockridge, died at 9:48 a.m. Sunday, June 17, 2001, at Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield. Arrangements are pending at Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant.
Patricia Azinger
Patricia J. Azinger, 65, of Montrose, died Sunday, June 17, 2001, at Fort Madison Community Hospital.
Born Nov. 21, 1935, in Cedar Rapids, she was the daughter of Richard Milton and Genefee Margarita Clark Cook. On Feb. 28, 1953, she married Herman W. Azinger in Montrose.
Mrs. Azinger was a 1953 graduate of Montrose High School. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Montrose.
She enjoyed traveling, shopping, working in her flower garden, making crafts and going fishing. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Terry Umthun, Kathy Azinger and Tracie Youngquist, all of Montrose; one son, Mike Azinger of Montrose; six grandchildren; one foster grandchild; and one brother, Rick Cook of Mobile, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her parents, aunts and uncles.
Visitation will begin after 1 p.m. Tuesday at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, where the family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
The Mass of Christian burial for Mrs. Azinger will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Montrose, with the Rev. Gerald Hoenig officiating. Burial will be in Montrose Cemetery.

Wilda Boos
Wilda Pearl Boos, 92, of Fairfield, formerly of Lockridge, died at 3:20 a.m. Sunday, June 17, 2001, at Nelson Nursing Home in Fairfield.
Born Aug. 13, 1908, near Fairfield, she was the daughter of Edward and Lina Brennaman Ogden. On Aug. 14, 1929, she married Harry Andrew Boos in Burlington. He died May 8, 1987.
Mrs. Boos farmed the family farm north of Lockridge with her husband. After his death, she moved to Fairfield.
She grew up in the Bethesda area and was a lifetime resident of the Fairfield and Lockridge communities. She was a member of First Lutheran Church of Fairfield and served as president and program leader for the Esther Circle for a number of years.
Survivors include two daughters, LaVon Hostetler of Fairfield and Eleanor Gaunt of Shelbeyville, Ill.; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 6:30 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
The funeral for Mrs. Boos will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church in Fairfield, with Pastor Marvin Robeck officiating. Burial will be in Lockridge Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for First Lutheran Church.
Charles Marmion
Charles H. Marmion, 84, of Alexandria, Mo., died Tuesday, July 17, 2001, at Keokuk Area Hospital. Funeral arrangements are pending at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk.
Teresa Hunzinger
Teresa Anna Hunzinger, 100, of Mount Pleasant, (formerly of Burlington, Washington, Iowa, and Fairfield) died at 10:55 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2001, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.
Born July 8, 1901, in Augusta, she was the daughter of Albert John and Josephine Mary Blume Hunzinger. Miss Hunzinger was a homemaker.
She was a member of Sts. Mary & Patrick Catholic Church, Legion of Mary and the Altar and Rosary Society.
She is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Friends may call after noon today in Lunning Chapel. There will be no family visitation.
The Mass of Christian burial for Miss Hunzinger will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for her church.
Robert McClure
Robert Milton McClure, 92, of Waterloo, formerly of Morning Sun, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, from complications following a hip fracture.
Born July 30, 1909, in Yellow Springs Township, Des Moines County, he was the son of Samuel McLeod and Etta Jane Mahaffy McClure. He married Marjorie Ruth Bryant on Oct. 5, 1945. She died Sept. 12, 1998.
At the age of six, Mr. McClure's family moved to the farm, where he lived until 1993, when he and his wife moved to Waterloo. He was a 1927 graduate of Morning Sun High School, where he played on the football team and ran track. The Great Depression cut short his college career, and he returned home to run the family farm.
He was very involved in his children's activities, his duties at Sharon Reformed Presbyterian Church and his community. He enjoyed gardening, writing poetry, telling stories, having debates and singing with his family and friends.
Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Jean Mills and Patricia Diane Porter; one son, Robert Bruce McClure; 11 grandchildren; one nephew; and seven great-nieces and great-nephews.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.
Visitation will begin at noon Monday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. McClure will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sharon Reformed Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Ronald Good officiating. Burial will be in Sharon Church Cemetery.
