Martha Fullenkamp

Martha Fullenkamp, 88, of West Point died at 1:50 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, at the West Point Care Center.

Born Sept. 8, 1916, in West Point, she was the daughter of Frank and Josephine Krueger Clemens. On Dec. 29, 1941, she married Richard Fullenkamp in West Point. He died May 28, 1987.

Mrs. Fullenkamp was a homemaker and helped on the family farm north of West Point.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point, the Altar and Rosary Society and West Point Senior Citizens.

Survivors include three sons, Thomas Fullenkamp of Agency and Larry Fullenkamp and Jay Fullenkamp, both of West Point; four daughters, Pat Boeding of Houston, Nancy Powers of Burlington and Jan Winnike and Sue Conrad, both of West Point; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great–grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, five brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Link Funeral Home in West Point. A rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. with the family present from 2:30 to 4 p.m. A Christian vigil service will be at 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Fullenkamp will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point, with the Rev. Apo Mpanda officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in West Point.

A memorial has been established for Marquette Schools Inc.

Jerry Tilton

Jerry Tilton, 66, of Stronghurst, Ill., formerly of Lincoln, Neb., died at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, at his home.

Born May 7, 1938, in Peoria, Ill., he was the son of Lawrence Robert and Agnes Marie Turpin Tilton. On April 19, 1974, he married Phyllis Davis in Burlington.

Mr. Tilton was a supervisor at Lamonte Limited for 13 years, worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant and was supervisor of shipping and receiving at Nebraska Boiler for 12 years, retiring in 2003.

He was a graduate of Burlington High School and attended the University of Iowa. He was of the Lutheran faith. He was a member of Moose Lodge No. 579 of Burlington, Stronghurst Lions Club, Stronghurst Booster Club and Stronghurst Senior Center. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, woodworking and shooting pool.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Kimberly Tilton of Lincoln, Jennifer Tilton of Utah and Becky Tilton of Colorado; three sons, Bob Tilton of Texas, Jay Tilton of Colorado and Jeff Tilton of Utah; one stepdaughter, Denise Zytnowski of Fort Madison; one stepson, Patrick Hagen of Colorado; 14 grandchildren; one great–grandchild; three brothers, Larry Tilton of Amarillo, Texas, Tom Tilton of Lakeland, Fla., and Shane Bronston of Geneva, Ill.; and two sisters, Janet Selleck of DeWitt and Linda Riley of Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother, Eva Tilton.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. The body has been cremated.

The memorial service for Mr. Tilton will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. George Knox officiating. Moose rites will be performed at 2 p.m.

A memorial has been established for Community Hospices of America.

William Ernst

William E. Ernst, 59, of Janesville, Wis., died Saturday, March 5, 2005, at Mercy Hospital in Janesville after a brief illness.

Born July 9, 1945, in Racine, Wis., he was the son of George W. and Jean Kuenzl Ernst.

Mr. Ernst worked at GMAD for more than 30 years before retiring in 1999.

He was a 1963 graduate of Janesville High School. He was a decorated Vietnam War Army veteran. He was a member of VFW Post 1621. He volunteered many hours transporting seniors to doctor appointments, shopping and running errands. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Jean and Bob Weddle of Burlington; his father, George W. Ernst of Edgerton, Wis.; one sister, Janet Strizic of Edgerton; two stepsisters, Paula Brown of Huntsville, Ala., and Karen Lancaster of Texas; one stepbrother, Mike "Bert" Weddle of Burlington; and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

The funeral for Mr. Ernst will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Cemetery Chapel in Janesville. Burial will be in the veterans section of the cemetery. VFW Kienow Hilt Post 1621 will provide military rites.

A memorial has been established for Rock County Humane Society.

Whitcomb–Lynch–Albrecht Funeral Home in Janesville is in charge of the arrangements.

Vera Darby

Vera H. Darby, 95, of Wapello, died Friday morning, June 18, 2004, at Wapello Nursing & Rehab Center.

Arrangements are pending at Dudgeon–McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello.

Lynn Bycroft

R. Lynn Bycroft, 51, of Monmouth, Ill., formerly of Roseville, Ill., died at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at his residence.

Born May 24, 1953, in Monmouth, he was the son of Roy and Imogene Smith Bycroft.

Mr. Bycroft owned and operated B & K Clothing Store in Roseville for many years. He also worked at Bagley Sales and Service and Adkisson Auction Service, both in Roseville.

He was raised and educated in Point Pleasant and Roseville schools. He was a 1971 graduate of Roseville High School. He attended Eastern Illinois University and Carl Sandburg College. He was director of the Department of Human Services in Warren and Henderson counties. He was a member of Roseville Masonic Lodge 519 A.F. and A.M. and Monmouth Christian Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher, youth sponsor, deacon, elder, Men's Steadfast Quartet member and worship team member.

Survivors include his parents of Roseville; one sister, Gloria Thurman of Monmouth; two nephews; one great–nephew and two great nieces.

He was preceded in death by one niece.

Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at Corman Memorial Home in Roseville.

The funeral service for Mr. Bycroft will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Monmouth Christian Church, with the Rev. Jim Epperson officiating. Burial will be in Roseville Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Monmouth Christian Church Worship Team and Sunday School Department.

Robert McKim

Robert W. "Bob" McKim, 80, of Mount Pleasant, died at 8:35 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at Arbor Court in Mount Pleasant.

Born Sept. 22, 1924, in Bur–lington, he was the son of Milo William and Eula Mae Short McKim. On March 15, 1947, he married Cleo L. Humphrey in Cedar Rapids.

Mr. McKim worked for Davenport Machine and Foundry. He later worked for the former Hayworth Motors and Taylor Motors, both in Mount Pleasant. In 1948, he went into partnership with Jack Hodson and they purchased the dealership and salvage yard of Roy Fleenor and formed the Hodson–McKim Motor Co., which he co–owned for almost 25 years. He retired in 1984.

He was raised on the family farm east of Mount Union. He was a 1942 graduate of Mount Union High School and attended American Institute of Commerce in Davenport. He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving from 1943 to 1946. He served in clerk detail in Mississippi, Port Heume, Calif., and Maui, Hawaii, and obtained the rank of yeoman 2nd class. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church, where he served on the finance committee, as an usher and as a volunteer that prepared the church's newsletter for mailing. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Chamber Alliance and was a charter member of Mount Pleasant Jaycees. He was a 59–year member of American Legion Robert Tribby Post No. 58 of Mount Pleasant and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post of New London. He maintained a large model railroad collection for many years.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ted William McKim of Clermont, Fla., and Dennis Robert McKim of Blue Ridge, Va.; one daughter, Sue Ann Lowe of Mount Ida, Ark.; one sister, Jean Riepe of Marengo; one aunt; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, one his twin.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Weir & Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. McKim will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Edward R. Peterson officiating. Burial with full military honors conducted by the Burial Detail Honors Squad of the Henry County Veterans organizations will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.

Memorials have been established for First United Methodist Church and Hospice of Central Iowa.

JoEllen Youngquist

JoEllen Sue Youngquist, 43, of Burlington, died Saturday morning, Aug. 18, 2001, in Des Moines.

Visitation will begin after 8 a.m. Tuesday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Youngquist will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Gary Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.

Trenton Hawes

Trenton Daniel Hawes, 21, of Hamilton, Ill., died at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

Born March 7, 1980, in Keo-kuk, he was the son of Daniel and Dixie Wright Hawes.
Mr. Hawes worked for Sargent's Landscaping in Hamilton. He also worked for Midwest Performance in Keokuk, where he helped build the riding park.

He was a 1998 graduate of Hamilton High School and recently graduated from Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa with a degree in industrial maintenance, specializing in electrical systems. He was a member of New Testament Christian Church in Keokuk. His hobbies included football, baseball and especially wrestling. He enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. He was an avid four-wheeler rider and enjoyed riding with family and friends.

Survivors include his parents of Hamilton; maternal grandparents, Jim and Betty Wright of Hamilton; paternal grandmoth-er, Alice Hawes of Keokuk; two brothers, Justin Hawes and Jordan Hawes, both of Hamilton; aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, one brother in infancy and his great-grandparents.

Visitation will begin after 3 p.m. Monday at New Testament Christian Church in Keokuk, where the family will receive friends between 6 and 9 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Hawes will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at New Testament Christian Church, with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.

Memorials have been established for the Trenton Hawes Memorial Fund through Security State Bank in Hamilton.

Lamporte Funeral Home in Hamilton is in charge of arrangements.

Vera Durbin

Vera L. Davison Durbin, 76, of Hedrick, died at 10:55 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, at Ottumwa Regional Medical Center.

Born Aug. 31, 1924, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of John F. and Mary B. Holland Welcher. On May 24, 1941, she married Dale O. Davison in Kahoka, Mo. He died Oct. 22, 1980. On March 19, 1981, she married Thomas G. Durbin in Lancaster, Mo.
Mrs. Durbin worked for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown for many years. She also worked installing fireplace screens at Heatilator in Mount Pleasant. After moving to Hed-rick, she operated the Red Shed for 14 years before retiring.

She attended school in Mount Pleasant. She was of the Protestant faith.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Richard C. Davison of Mount Pleasant; one daughter, Shirley Kay Duggins of Maybe, Mich.; three grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Paul Welcher of Mount Pleasant, Eugene Welcher of Gladstone, Ill., Bill Welcher of Manchester and Robert Welcher of West Burlington; and three sisters, Irma Howard of Burlington, Genevieve Brown of New London and Betty Hining of Fairfield.

Besides her first husband, she was preceded in death by one son, three brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will begin at noon Monday at Weir Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Durbin will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of the Open Bible in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. William Hornback officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.

A memorial has been established for Henry County Avenue of Flags Veterans Memorial.

James Garnsey

James E. Garnsey, 81, of Morning Sun, died Tuesday morning, Sept. 18, 2001, at his home. Service arrangements are pending at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun.

John Holmes

John Holmes, 37, of Burlington, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, in West Burlington. Services are pending at Lunning Chapel.
