OTTUMWA - ARRON D. TURNER, 52 of Ottumwa and former Bloomfield resident died January 28, 2008 at the V.A. Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. He was born icon April 30, 1955 in Bloomfield, Iowa to Ben Miller and Marian Wickes Turner. He served in the United States Navy. He worked at Excel and was a roofer for Dearborn Roofing.

He is survived by his mother Marian Turner Beggs of Bloomfield, Iowa; 2 daughters Crystal Lseldyke and Amber Turner both of Tennessee; 6 brothers Ben of Jacksonville, Florida, Roy of Ottumwa, Iowa, Doug of Bloomfield, Iowa, Mitch of West Grove, Bruce of Bloomfield, Iowa and Tim of Lynn, Missouri; and 3 sisters Pat Potts of Santa Fe, Tennessee, Tammy Troyer of Runnells, Iowa and Laura Beggs of Bloomfield, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday January 31, 2008 at the Pulaski Cemetery in Pulaski, Iowa with Rev. Charles Courtney officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Reed Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion, Bloomfield. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to his family. Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of the arrangements.

CHARLOTTE L. COLLINS

BLOOMFIELD - CHARLOTTE L. COLLINS, 74 of Bloomfield died January 28, 2008 at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield. She was born icon May 4, 1933 in Agency, Iowa to Colbert J. and Eva L. Wheeler Weeks. She married icon James E. Collins. She was a homemaker and Physical Therapy aid at Sunnyslope Care Center in Ottumwa. She had been a resident of Davis County for 27 years.

She is survived 3 sons David Collins of Bloomfield, Iowa, Paul Collins of Irvington, Alabama and Gary Collins of Ottumwa, Iowa; 7 stepsons James Collins of Pekin, Illinois, Herbert Collins of Manito, Illinois, Jack and John Collins both of Wichita, Kansas, Mike Levengood of Georgia, Danny Levengood of Moscow Mills, Missouri and David Levengood of Sutter, Illinois; 2 step daughters Diane Harter of Hedrick, Iowa and Candice Collins of Virginia Beach, Virginia; 7 grandchildren; 18 step grandchildren; lifelong companion J.R. Levengood of Bloomfield, Iowa; 4 brothers William and Ronald Weeks of Ottumwa, Iowa, Harmond Weeks of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Leland Weeks of Floris, Iowa and 3 sisters Constance Clark of Silver Springs, Maryland, Carol Sheldon of Ottumwa, Iowa and Colberta Penrod of Fairfield, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sons Dennis Huff and Joe Collins; a sister Bonnie Bolin; 2 step grandchildren and a great granddaughter.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday January 30, 2008 at the Shaul Cemetery in Ottumwa, Iowa with Rev. Sue Babovec officiating. The family will be at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield to greet friends from 6:00-7:30 PM Tuesday. A memorial has been established to the family.

LUCIA GRACE SWAIM

DRAKESVILLE - LUCIA GRACE SWAIM, 93 of Drakesville, Iowa died January 25, 2008 at the Bloomfield Care Center. She was born icon February 6, 1914 in Hiteman, Iowa to Frank and Millie Shipley Hopkins. She married icon Charles D. Swaim, Sr. May 15, 1933 in Lancaster, Missouri. He preceded her in death April 19, 1997. She was a homemaker and farm wife in the Drakesville Lake Wapello area for 57 years.

She is survived by 2 sons Charles “Toad” (Jean) Swaim and David (Lucy) Swaim both of Drakesville, Iowa; 5 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 16 step great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; 2 sisters Kathryn Eakins of Wickenburg, Arizona and Bettijane Mahoney of San Antonio, Texas and a brother Jack Hopkins of Tampa, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 sisters Mattie Mooney and Mae Garner and a brother Max Hopkins.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday January 29, 2008 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa with Bill Eakins officiating. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery in Appanoose County, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Monday with the family present from 6:00-8:00 PM. A memorial has been established to Davis County Dollars for Scholars.

Mildred Harris

Bloomfield - Mildred Harris, 85, of Bloomfield, Iowa died January 23, 2008 at the Davis County Hospital Long Term Care. She was born icon February 5, 1922 in Schuyler County, Missouri to William and Edna Jarvis Harris. She worked for Citizens Mutual Telephone Company for 30 years and lived in Bloomfield for most of her life.

She is survived by 2 sisters, Maxine McGrew and Myrtle Hudson both of Bloomfield and 5 nieces and nephews.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, a brother, Elmo Harris and an infant sister.

Graveside services will be at 2 pm on Saturday January 26, 2008 at the IOOF Cemetery with Rev. DeWayne Lawson officiating. Open visitation will be from 1-9 pm on Friday and also from 9 am until noon on Saturday at Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield. A memorial has been established to the Bloomfield Christian Church.

Ira Wayne Comer

Floris - Ira Wayne Comer, 67, of Floris, Iowa died January 21, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born icon May 29, 1940 in Floris to Sidney and Jenny Whisler Comer. He married icon Beatrice Ann Evans September 30, 1961 in Salem, New Jersey. A lifetime resident of Floris, he enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and buy-sell-trading but first and foremost he loved his family. He delivered building materials for the Amish and was retired from Rockwell of Fairfield, Iowa in 1999. He also served in the United States Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Ann Evans, a son, David Comer of Kirkville, IA, a daughter Patty (Danny) Rupe of Ottumwa, IA, 2 granddaughters Danielle and Sara Rupe, his mother Jenny Comer of Floris, 3 brothers, Melvin, Ronald (Sue) and Gregory (Brenda) Comer all of Floris.

He is proceeded in death by his father, and a brother, Max Comer.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 am on Friday January 25, 2008 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Gordon Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in Pierce Cemetery in Davis County, Iowa with military rites performed by Reed Whisler Post 78. Visitation will begin at 9 am Thursday with the family present to greet friends from 6-8pm at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the American Diabetes Association.

Robert E. Frymoyer

Bloomfield - Robert E. Frymoyer, 86, of Bloomfield, Iowa died January 19, 2008 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born icon April 14, 1921 in Davis County, Iowa to Ralph and Hazel Gandy Frymoyer. A resident of Bloomfield his lifetime, he worked at John Deere in Ottumwa, Iowa. He was a member of the Izaak Walton League in Ottumwa and enjoyed trap shooting.

He is survived by 2 brothers: Dean (Marianna) Frymoyer of Ottumwa and Harold (Louise) Frymoyer of Bloomfield, and 1 sister, Mary Vannoy of Bloomfield.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, a sister, Florence Downing, and a brother Howard Lee Frymoyer.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm on Tuesday January 22, 2008 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the Pastor James Wakelin officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Open visitation will be Monday from 9 am until 9 pm at the funeral home. The family will be present for visitation from 12:30 pm until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the Friends of the Bloomfield Public Library.

Frances Evelyn Johnson

OTTUMWA - Frances Evelyn Johnson, 95, of Ottumwa, Iowa and former resident of Bloomfield, Iowa died January 14, 2008 at her home. She was born icon January 16, 1912 in Scotland County, Missouri to Ezra D. and Augusta Hougland Boal. She married icon Rex Johnson June 25, 1941 in Ottumwa. He proceeds her in death November 29, 1981. She was a teacher in Agency, Iowa for several years. She was a member of the Bloomfield and Agency United Methodist Churches and was active in the Order of the Eastern Star in Ottumwa.

She is survived by cousins.

She is proceeded in death by her parents and her husband.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 am on Thursday January 17, 2008 at the Agency Cemetery in Agency with Pastor Bob Dvorak officiating. Visitation will be from 9 am until 9 pm on Wednesday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield. A memorial has been established to the Bloomfield and Agency United Methodist Churches and may be left with or sent to: South Ottumwa Savings Bank C/O Tammy Kosman, P.O. Box 516 Ottumwa, Iowa 52501.

Anna A. Hopkins

BLOOMFIELD - Anna A. Hopkins 83, of Bloomfield died January 7, 2008 at the Bloomfield Care Center. She was born icon December 8, 1924 in Davis County, Iowa to Warren and Alta Steele Loar. She married icon Guy Hopkins June 6, 1950 in Hardy, Arkansas. He proceeds her in death March 4, 1975. She was a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell.

She is survived by 3 nieces: Donna (Bill) Downing of Bloomfield, Jeanne (Ralph) Wineteer of Sun City, Arizona, Etta Mae Evans of Oregon, and a nephew, David Loar of Phoenix, Arizona.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, husband, a brother Alpha Loar, a sister Alene Barker, 2 nephews: James Loar and Leon Barker and a niece, Wilda Roberts.

Funeral services will be at 10 am on Thursday January 10, 2008 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Kevin Gingerich officiating. Burial will be in the Troy Cemetery in Troy, Iowa. Open visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 am until 9 pm on Wednesday.

Helen Ruth Ritz

OTTUMWA - Helen Ruth Ritz, 79, of Ottumwa, Iowa and former Bloomfield, Iowa resident died March 6, 2008 at the Ottumwa Good Samaritan Center. She was born icon April 13, 1928 in Bloomfield, Iowa to Fernando and Dorothy Van Horn Tharp. She married icon Keith Ritz April 12, 1946 in Bloomfield. He preceded her in death August 14, 1996. She was owner/operator of Pickwick Sundries in Ottumwa.

She is survived by 3 sons, Dale and Garold Ritz of Ottumwa, and Richard Ritz of Crocker, Missouri; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Irene Hougland of Bloomfield and Janet Myer of Iberia, Missouri; and 2 brothers, Jerry Tharp of Bloomfield, and Richard Tharp of Ottumwa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 sisters, Mary Pickens and Hazel Tharp; and 2 brothers, Donald and Charles Tharp.

Funeral services will be at 2:30pm Monday, March 10, 2008 at Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. James Wakelin officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation will begin after 9am Sunday at the funeral home with the family present to greet friends from 2-4pm. A memorial has been established to the Ottumwa Good Samaritan Center.

BETTY RUTH SCHMITZ

BLOOMFIELD - BETTY RUTH SCHMITZ, 83 of Bloomfield and former Ottumwa resident died March 7, 2008 at the Bloomfield Care Center. She was born icon February 4, 1925 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Roy and Marian Lester Turpin. She was a graduate of Ottumwa High School and had been a waitress at the Ottumwa Country Club and in Burlington.

She is survived by a sister Maxine Byers of Bettendorf, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers Richard, Ralph and Robert Turpin.

The body has been cremated, no services are planned. Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
