Raymond Ross Robinson
BLOOMFIELD - Raymond Ross Robinson, 85, of Bloomfield, Iowa died March 5, 2008 at his home. He was born
February 28, 1923 in West Grove, Iowa to William Marion and Nannie Elizabeth Johnson Robinson. He married
Rexine Mae Taylor October 6, 1943 in Lancaster, Missouri. A resident of Davis County his lifetime, he was a farmer and a small engine mechanic.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Barbara McClure of Drakesville, Iowa; a son, Steven (Judy) Ross Robinson of Sterling, Alaska; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandsons; step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Fay Harris of Bloomfield; and a sister-in-law, Marguerite Robinson of Bloomfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Phyllis Irene Robinson; and a brother, William A. Robinson.
A memorial service will be at 10:30am Saturday, March 8, 2008 at Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. DeWayne Lawson officiating. Burial of the cremains will be in the West Grove Cemetery at a later date. Memorials have been established to Friends of the Bloomfield Library or Hospice Inc.
Berdena Mae White
BLOOMFIELD - Berdena Mae White, 84, of Bloomfield, Iowa died March 2, 2008 at the Bloomfield Care Center. She was born
June 14, 1923 in Davis County, Iowa to Ira and Julia Hilpert Prevo. She married
Raymond R. White June 14, 1947 in Davis County. He precedes her in death March 8, 1975. A resident of Davis County her lifetime, she was a homemaker. She was affiliated with the Open Bible Church in Bloomfield.
She is survived by a daughter, Sheryl McLain of Cantril, Iowa; a son, Terry White of Ottumwa, Iowa; a granddaughter, 2 great-grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 2 sisters, Ollie Yahnke and Doris Gilliand, both of Bloomfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant son, and a brother, Lester Prevo.
Funeral services will be at 10am Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Richard Friend officiating. Burial will be in the Rouch Cemetery in Davis County. Open visitation will be from 9am until 9pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to Hospice of Central Iowa.
Lillieth M. Brooks
BLOOMFIELD - Lillieth M. Brooks, 101, of Bloomfield, Iowa died February 24, 2008 at the Bloomfield Care Center. She was born
September 24, 1906 in Schuyler County, Missouri to Alden Luttlus and Lena (Gingerich) Boatman. She married
Roscoe E. Brooks. He preceeds her in death May 22, 1972. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church and the Waubonsie Club.
She is survived by nieces and nephews.
She is preceeded in death by her parents, husband, 6 sisters, Edna Coy, Icle Kight, Venus Hubbartt, Leona Galpin, Ilda Adams and Lela Gibson, 3 brothers, Earl, Bill and Wesley Boatman.
Memorial services will be at 11:00am Saturday March 1, 2008 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. James Wakelin officiating. Burial of the cremains will be at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the Bloomfield Christian Church.
Debbie Jackson
BLOOMFIELD - Debbie Jackson, 49, of Bloomfield, Iowa died February 15, 2008 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. She was born
April 7, 1958 in Torrence, California to Mearl “Brick” and Linda Miller Moore. She married
Luther Cline May 28, 1983 in Davis County, Iowa. He precedes her in death August 4, 1995. She married
Tim Jackson on August 31, 1996 in Davis County. She worked for Merry Maids, Younkers, Maurices, and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Floris Baptist Church in Floris, Iowa and was a very active member.
She is survived by her husband, parents, a sister, Kathleen Cloyd of Waukee, Iowa; a niece, Jill Cloyd of West Des Moines; a nephew, Sean Cloyd of Waukee, Iowa; and several other nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Hosea and Gladys Miller and Mearl and Madeline Moore.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30am on Friday February 22, 2008 at the Floris Baptist Church with Pastors Gordon Hawkins and Jack Jackson officiating. Burial will be in the Floris Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday at the Wagler Funeral Home with family there to greet friends from 6-8:30pm. In lieu of flowers memorials have been established to the Look to the Stars Cancer Foundation and the Floris Baptist Church.
Leora Marie Hafford
OTTUMWA - Leora Marie Hafford, 69, of Ottumwa, Iowa accepted the following position on February 9, 2008. “Concert pianist for Heaven’s Hallelujah Chorus, engagement length: Eternity.” Leora died at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born
January 2, 1939 in Hiteman, Iowa to Howard and Millie Cox Brock. She married
Franklin Lee Hafford September 3, 1962 in Alton, Illinois. She was a registered nurse and a piano teacher. She was a member of the Grace Pointe Church of the Nazarene in Bloomfield, Iowa and was the church pianist for several years, and was a member of the National Association of Music Teachers.
She is survived by her husband, 4 daughters; Wendy (Grady) Stevens of Bloomfield, Bethany (Tim) Woodard of Ottumwa, Nanette (Scott) Kehrberg of Macomb, Illinois, and Noelle (Dan) Bales of Bloomfield; 11 grandchildren: Jessica, Emily, Paige, Jeffrey, Andrew and Tony Stevens, Benjaman, Brenden, and Catherine Rose Woodard, Michael and Christopher Kehrberg; 1 great granddaughter, Shelby Lynn Shipp; a sister, Joan (Frank) Dorman of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and a brother, Dick (Jane) Brock of Albia, Iowa.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 am Thursday, February 14, 2008 at the Grace Pointe Church of the Nazarene in Bloomfield with Pastor Rick Rigney officiating. Burial will be in the Oakview Cemetery in Albia, Iowa at 2:30 pm Thursday. The family will be at the Church of the Nazarene on Wednesday February 13, 2008 from 5-7 pm to greet friends. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to her family. Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge on the arrangements.
WAYNE W. WARNING
BLOOMFIELD - WAYNE W. WARNING, 81 of Bloomfield died February 9, 2008 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born
April 10, 1926 in Hitt, Missouri to Roy and Opal McDowell Warning. He married
Darlene Arnold December 26, 1946 in Davis County, Iowa. He worked for the REC for 25 years. In 1974 he started Warning Electric Service with his sons, Doug and Rick. He retired in 1995. He was a member of the Bloomfield United Methodist Church, had been a scout leader for the Webelos and had been Red Cross Chairman for Davis County.
He is survived by his wife; 3 sons Gary (Jeanne) Warning of Ames, Iowa and Doug (Sandy) and Rick (Kendra) Warning both of Bloomfield; a daughter Debbie (Stan) Huggins of Bloomfield; 9 grandchildren Michelle, Matt, Brian, Kala, Brett, Tyler, Valerie, David and Katie; 9 great grandchildren Colton, Mason, Olivia, Reegan, Maddy, Abby, Kelsi, Taylor and Ally; 2 brothers Dale (Jean) Warning of Ankeny, Iowa and Gerald (Ritzanna) Warning of Branson, Missouri and a sister Iona (Hank) McDaniel of Branson, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father Bill Denny and a sister Elsie Paschall.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday February 13, 2008 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Kevin Gingerich officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Tuesday with the family present from 6:00-8:00 PM to greet friends. Memorials have been established to the Bloomfield United Methodist Church and Look to the Stars Foundation.
Frances E. Dennis
BLOOMFIELD - Frances E. Dennis, 94, of Bloomfield, Iowa died February 5, 2008 at her home in Bloomfield. She was born
January 10, 1914 in Bloomfield to William and Elizabeth Jenkins Lobbins. She was a typist for a school district in Los Angeles, California.
She is survived by a brother, Robert Lobbins, of Bloomfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a husband, 3 sisters: Helen Smith, Mildred Lobbins and Virginia Wilder, and 4 brothers: Elmer, Lawrence, William, and Harold Lobbins.
Graveside services and burial of the cremains will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at the Bloomfield South Cemetery in Bloomfield, Iowa with Rev. Richard Friend officiating. Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield in charge of the arrangements.
Edna Maurine Hanna Latta
Bloomfield - Edna Maurine Hanna Latta, 91, of Burlingame, California and former resident of Davis County, Iowa died January 16, 2008 in Burlingame. She was born
June 16, 1916 to John C. and Faye Dickson Hanna in West Grove, Iowa. She married
Oris Latta December 18, 1937. He proceeds her in death March 9, 2005. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.
During the depression, Edna and Oris owned the general store in Drakesville, Iowa. Seeing the potential of the West, they left in 1945 for California where she remained the rest of her life. From 1945 to 1948 Edna and Oris were in Sacramento and then moved to San Mateo.
She is survived by a son, John Latta of Alexandria, Virginia, a daughter Linda Grandov of Burlingame, California, 4 grandsons, 2 step granddaughters, 6 great-grandchildren and a sister, Evelyn Spurgeon of Bloomfield, Iowa.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister, Dortha Friend.
Funeral Services will be at 9:30 am Saturday February 2, 2008 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa with Pastor Kevin Gingerich officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation will begin after 9 am Friday with the family present from 6-7pm at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the Bloomfield United Methodist Church.
DOYLE PRESTON SCHMITTER
BLOOMFIELD - DOYLE PRESTON SCHMITTER, 97 died in Bloomfield on January 28, 2008. He was born
to Otto Wilhelm and Amy Morgan Schmitter of Rubio, Iowa, in 1911. He attended the local grade school and Richland High School, surrounded by a loving extended Morgan family. After one year at William Penn College, he graduated from Iowa State in 1934 with a degree in Agricultural Economics. He worked with the USDA from 1934 to 1974, thirty eight of those years with FM(H)A in Davis and surrounding counties. In 1948 he received a Superior Service Award from the largest loan program in Iowa. He loved the land, his work, and the many people he was able to assist through the agency.
In 1937 he married
his high school sweetheart, Lucile Jones. Two years later, they moved to Bloomfield where they were active in the community: Lucile as a homemaker, club member, and teacher, and Doyle as a Rotarian, community theater actor, school board member, and avid tree planter. They are survived by two children, Hal Schmitter of Middlebury, Vermont, and Nancy Swope of Ottumwa, Iowa, and by four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
After Lucile’s death in 1981, Doyle married
Lois Davis Irvin. He quipped that he had the good fortune of marriage to the world’s two most wonderful women. He and Lois moved from Madison Street to Mulberry Place Retirement Apartments in 2003, where they were well cared for and where Lois continues to reside.
Memorial donations can be made to the Mutchler Community Center in Bloomfield , where Doyle spent many enjoyable hours exercising throughout his 80’s and well into his 90’s. Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield is assisting the family.
LaVELLE W. PICKRELL
BLOOMFIELD - LaVELLE W. PICKRELL, 83 of Bloomfield died January 28, 2008 at Ridgewood Care Center in Ottumwa. She was born
April 21, 1924 in Floris, Iowa to Stewart and Maude Brookshire Pilcher. She married
Virgil W. Pickrell September 26, 1942 in Lancaster, Missouri. She was a homemaker, farm wife and raised corriedale sheep.
She is survived by her husband; a son Marvin (Carolyn) Pickrell of Oskaloosa, Iowa; 2 grandsons Aaron (Joanne) Pickrell of Columbus, Ohio and Nathan (Valarie) Pickrell of Des Moines, Iowa; 2 great grandchildren Nathan, Jr. and Gracelyn and 3 brothers Lloyd Pilcher of Sigourney, Iowa, Clifford Pilcher of Ottumwa, Iowa and Forest Pilcher of Bloomfield, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister Sylvia Lowe and 2 brothers James Eugene and Dale Pilcher.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM Thursday January 31, 2008 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Marvin Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Floris Cemetery in Floris, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Wednesday with the family present from 5:00-7:00 PM. A memorial has been established to Hospice, Inc.
