BETTY NICOLI

BLOOMFIELD - BETTY NICOLI, age 84 of Bloomfield died March 15, 2007 at the Bloomfield Care Center. She was born icon April 11, 1922 in Pulaski, Iowa to Joseph E. and Almira Taylor Crose Hobbs. She married icon Johnny O. Nicoli September 7, 1940 in Lancaster, Missouri. He preceded her in death May 25, 2004. She was a resident of Davis County most of her life. She was a homemaker and ran a Grade A dairy farm with her husband. Betty was a patient, gentle and kind woman. She loved being with her family. Her favorite hobbies were fishing and gardening. She was a member of the Mid American Dairymen’s Association.

She is survived by a son William F. Nicoli of Ottumwa, Iowa; 3 daughters Lorene Francis of Bloomfield, Iowa, Laurell (Orland) Weatherington of Milton, Iowa and Betty Ann (Russ) Woollums of Smithville, Missouri; 17 grandchildren and 25+ great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 brothers Vernon E. and Francis “Pete” Hobbs; 4 sisters Viola C. Thompson, Mary E. Gladson, Hazel I. Morris and Ruth L. Hermanstorfer and a son-in-law Jerry L. Francis.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Monday March 19, 2007 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa with Rev. Richard Friend officiating. Burial will be in the Dunnville Cemetery in Davis County, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am Sunday with the family present from 6:00-7:30 pm. Memorials have been established to the Bloomfield Care Center Activities Fund and the Drakesville Shelter House.

MIKE “GOOFY” D. NORMAN

ELDON - MIKE “GOOFY” D. NORMAN, age 54 of Eldon, Iowa and former Bloomfield resident died March 7, 2007 at his home. He was born icon August 27, 1952 in Kirksville, Missouri to Bob and Joan Reed Norman. He graduated from Davis County High School in 1970 and served four years in the United States Navy. He was a semi driver for several years.

He is survived by his parents Bob and Joan Norman of Bloomfield; a son Jesse Norman of Ottumwa, Iowa; 2 daughters Angie (Scott) Huber of Warrensburg, Missouri and Cassie Norman of Ottumwa, Iowa; 3 granddaughters Lauren and Morgan Huber and Kylie Norman; 2 brothers Ron (Linda) Norman of Dundas, Virginia and Randy (Dee) Norman of Pulaski, Iowa and his maternal grandmother Bernice Reed of Memphis, Missouri. Goofy was surrounded by many faithful friends and neighbors.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 am Saturday March 10, 2007 at the Troy Cemetery in Troy, Iowa with Bill Eakins officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am Friday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the family present from 6:30-8:00 pm. Memorials have been established to Hospice and his family.

HELEN MARGUERITE RUSSELL

BLOOMFIELD - HELEN MARGUERITE RUSSELL, age 88 of Bloomfield died February 19, 2007 at the Davis County Hospital Long Term Care. She was born icon January 29, 1919 in Lancaster, Missouri to Conda Lewis and Vera Cecil Brunk Saner. She married icon August Lee Russell November 12, 1937 in Greentop, Missouri. He preceded her in death in 1982. She was a homemaker and health aide with Davis County Social Services. She was also a caregiver and companion to the elderly in Davis County and worked at the Davis County Home for many years. She was affiliated with the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Bloomfield.

She is survived by 3 sons Dean (Linda) Russell of Sigourney, Iowa, Steven (Chengqien) Russell of Oxford Junction, Iowa and John (Phyllis) Russell of Milton, Iowa; 4 daughters Betty (Harold) Forrester of Terrebonne, Oregon, Cheryl (Charley) Leech and Mary (Jack) Chadwick both of Wheatland, Iowa and Rose (Raymond) Condon of Hobart, New York; 35 grandchildren; 57 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren and a sister Bonnie Schurkert of Scottsdale, Arizona.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 daughters Bonnie Griffith and Helen June Russell.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday February 24, 2007 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Kramer Smith officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am Saturday with the family present from 1:00 pm until the time of the service. A memorial has been established to the Long Term Care.

VEOLA A. JOHNSON

BLOOMFIELD - VEOLA A. JOHNSON, age 95 of Bloomfield died February 13, 2007 at the Bloomfield Care Center. She was born icon June 14, 1911 in Latimer, Iowa to Albert and Marie Schonemann Johnson. She worked at the Iowa State University registration office as a bookkeeper. She had been a resident of Bloomfield since 1982. She was a very active member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bloomfield.

She is survived by a sister Dorothy Rasmussen of Bloomfield; a niece Anita Shockley and a nephew David Rasmussen both of Bloomfield and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Eleanor Tobie.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday February 24, 2007 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bloomfield with Rev. Nancy Pick officiating. Burial of the cremains will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. A memorial has been established to her church. Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.

VERA D. YORK

BLOOMFIELD - VERA D. YORK, age 77 of Bloomfield died February 13, 2007 at the Bloomfield Care Center. She was born icon October 30, 1929 in Queen City, Missouri to Alfred and Leah Steen Voorhies. She married icon Max York December 11, 1947 in Newton, Iowa. She had been a resident of Bloomfield most of her life and was a nurses aid at the Davis County Hospital for 15 years, retiring in 1979. She was a member of the Savannah Christian Church and the Ottumwa Chapter of the Iowa Artist Association.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter Trudy Reyes of Bloomfield; 2 sons Dale Russ York of Keosauqua, Iowa and Terry York of Loveland, Colorado; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and a brother Bill Voorhies of Chickasha, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers Wally and Lee Voorhies and a sister Peggy Horning.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Friday February 16, 2007 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Jerry Weller officiating. Burial will be in the Darby Cemetery in Schuyler County, Missouri. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am Thursday with the family present from 6:00-8:00 pm. Memorials in lieu of flowers have been established to the Bloomfield Care Center and the Darby Cemetery.

CARL E. FRYMOYER

PULASKI - CARL E. FRYMOYER, age 78 of Pulaski, Iowa died February 7, 2007 at his home. He was born icon September 20, 1928 in Davis County, Iowa to Neal D. and Ruth Gandy Frymoyer. He served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a farmer.

He is survived by a son Carlan “Kim” (Deb) Frymoyer of Pulaski, Iowa; 4 granddaughters; 9 great grandchildren and a special friend Thedus Rushing Frymoyer Jenkins (Teddy) of Pulaski, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Trenton Frymoyer; 2 brothers Richard and Jack Frymoyer and a sister Helen Frymoyer.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Monday February 12, 2007 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Michael Martin officiating. Burial with graveside military rites by Reed Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion in Bloomfield, will be in the Blakesburg Cemetery in Blakesburg, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Sunday with the family present from 6:00-8:00 PM. A memorial has been established to the Blakesburg Cemetery.

DAVID EATON

BLOOMFIELD - DAVID EATON, age 69 of Bloomfield died February 5, 2007 at his home. He was born icon April 22, 1937 in Albia, Iowa to Ted and Olive Swaim Eaton. He married icon Gisela Ebeling August 26, 1958 in Bremthal, Germany. He graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1955 and served in the United States Army. He lived most of his life in Davis County and was a farmer and worked for Davis County Road Maintenance. He was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church and Reed Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion in Bloomfield.

He is survived by his wife; 2 sons Daniel Eaton and Dorvan Eaton both of Bloomfield; 2 daughters Rebecca Swaim of Bloomfield and Cynthia Klatt of Cedar Falls, Iowa; 6 grandchildren; a sister Beverly Janecek of Yutan, Nebraska and 2 brothers Jerry Eaton of Sierra Vista, Arizona and Steven Eaton of Ottumwa, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Friday February 9, 2007 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Kevin Gingerich officiating. Burial with graveside military rites by Reed Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion in Bloomfield, will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Thursday with the family present from 6:00-8:00 PM. Memorials have been established to Reed Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion and the American Heart Association.

RAY DYKES

BLOOMFIELD - RAY DYKES, age 74 of Bloomfield died February 2, 2007 at Hospice House in Ottumwa, Iowa. He was born icon June 28, 1932 in Ames, Iowa to Ace R. and Alice A. Blair Dykes. He married icon Elaine Longnecker June 16, 1953 in New York City, New York. He had been a resident of Davis County since 1969. He was a farmer and law enforcement officer. He served as Sheriff of Davis County for 16 years. He was a member of the Davis County Cattlemen’s Association, Farm Bureau, Retread Motorcycle Club and was a former member of the Iowa Sheriff and Deputies Association and American Trike Association.

He is survived by his wife; a son Darvin (Kim) Dykes of Bloomfield, Iowa; a daughter Dixie (Fred) Hickcox of Ogden, Iowa; grandchildren Clint Markley, Brock and Kyla Dykes and a great granddaughter Alanna Markley.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 infant daughters and 2 sisters.

The body has been cremated at his request. The family will be at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield for a celebration of his life from 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday February 7, 2007. Memorials in lieu of flowers have been established to Hospice, Inc. and the Living Hope Bible Church.

HUBERT AVEN SPEER

AGENCY - HUBERT AVEN SPEER, age 87 of Agency, Iowa died February 2, 2007 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. He was born icon July 19, 1919 in Jefferson City, Missouri to Zola M. and Beulah F. Shook Speer. He was a resident of Agency most of his life. He was a farmer and worked at Lowenberg Bakery in Ottumwa, retiring in 1981.

He is survived by a special friend Kathleen Guyette of Agency, Iowa; Jim and Iris Guyette of Red Hook, New York; Jerry Guyette of Austin, Minnesota; Steve Guyette of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; Wayne and DeAnne Guyette of Austin, Minnesota; Mary Guyette of Austin, Minnesota and Cindy Reinert of Champlin, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday February 6, 2007 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Nancy Pick officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Tuesday until the time of the service. Memorials may be sent to Kathleen Guyette PO Box 152 Agency, IA 52530.

HAROLD W. MASON

BLOOMFIELD - HAROLD W. MASON, age 97 of Bloomfield died January 29, 2007 at the Davis County Hospital Long Term Care in Bloomfield. He was born icon September 12, 1909 in Macomb, Illinois to William W. and Buelah Murphy Mason. He married icon Hulda Irene Jordan July 14, 1935 in Kahoka, Missouri. She preceded him in death July 22, 2002. He had worked for John Deere in Ottumwa, retiring in 1969 and had been a resident of Davis County since 1991. He was a member of John Calvin Presbyterian Church in Apache Junction, Arizona, serving as an elder and deacon. He served on the Seneca Board and received the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts and the Governors Volunteer Award.

He is survived by a daughter Dolores “Dee” (Don) Altheide of Bloomfield, Iowa; 5 grandchildren Shelley (Randy) Mitzelfelt of New Virginia, Iowa, Luann (Mark) Head of Chillicothe, Missouri, Ed (Lori) Altheide of Bloomfield, Iowa, Jeff (JoAnn) Altheide of Pulaski, Iowa and Steve (Sheila) of Lancaster, Missouri; 12 great grandchildren Ian, Ethan, Eryn and A.J. Mitzelfelt; Luke and Mason Altheide; Amber (Carlo) Damazo; Caleb and Hannah Altheide and Travis, Shannon and Tiffany Altheide; 2 great great grandchildren Dylan Altheide and Niya Damazo; a half sister Judy Snyder of Canton, Illinois; 3 step sisters Betty Anderson, Marion Briggs and Carol Horrell and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, a sister Doris Lindsay and a brother Richard Mason.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Thursday February 1, 2007 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Steve Altheide and Kramer Smith officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Wednesday with the family present from 6:00-7:30 PM. Memorials have been established to the Stiles Christian Church and the Davis County Hospital Long Term Care.
