JACK “JAKE” BLEW

BLOOMFIELD - JACK “JAKE” BLEW, age 62 of rural Bloomfield died April 15, 2007 at his home. He was born icon August 11, 1944 in Davis County, Iowa to Van Howard and Opal Pearl Sample Blew. He married icon Rosalie Burrows April 12, 1992 in Bloomfield, Iowa. Jack lived and worked on the family farm his entire lifetime. He enjoyed his family, bird hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting. He was affiliated with the Midway Calvary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife; a stepson Allen Funk of Scotch Grove, Iowa; 2 step daughters Bobbie Reed of Port Byron, Illinois and Carmen Glosser of Bloomfield, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; a sister Mary Meredith of Bloomfield, Iowa and 2 nieces and a nephew Barbara and Mary Meredith and Jerry Meredith.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Thursday April 19, 2007 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa with Rev. Harold Baker officiating. Burial will be in the Sherman Chapel Cemetery in Davis County, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am Wednesday with the family present from 7:00-8:00 pm. A memorial has been established to his family.

BONNIE L. DAVIS

BONNIE L. DAVIS, age 75 of Moulton, Iowa died April 13, 2007 at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield. She was born icon October 11, 1931 in Moulton, Iowa to Erca W. and Bessie Adams Kirby. She married icon Charles A. Davis September 14, 1952 in Moulton, Iowa. He preceded her in death May 25, 1999. She was a resident of Moulton her lifetime and drove a school bus for the Davis County Community School district for several years, retiring in 1991. She was affiliated with the Monterey Christian Church and was a former member of the Rebekah Lodge in Moulton.

She is survived by a daughter Peggy Spaw of Des Moines, Iowa; 2 sons Lou Davis of Louisburg, Kansas and Russell Davis of Centerville, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 brothers Jack Kirby of Bloomfield, Iowa and Don Kirby of Moulton, Iowa and 2 sisters Wilma Brinegar and Joann Replogle both of Moulton, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 3 sons Gilbert, Scott and Willie Davis; a brother Bert Kirby; a sister Betty Keep and a son in law Joe Spaw.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday April 17, 2007 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Jerry Weller officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral service. Burial of the cremains will be in the Burgher Cemetery in Davis County, Iowa at a later date. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am Monday with the family present from 6:00-8:00 pm. A memorial has been established to the Garrett Memorial Library in Moulton, Iowa.

FRANK A. RYSDAM, JR.

FLORIS - FRANK A. RYSDAM, JR., age 75 of rural Floris, Iowa died April 1, 2007 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri. He was born icon November 19, 1931 in Davis County, Iowa to Frank A. and Edith Fetrow Rysdam. He married icon Jeana Lee Cowell November 17, 1951 in Lancaster, Missouri. He was a resident of Davis County his lifetime and was a 1950 graduate of Bloomfield High School. He was a farmer and worked at John Morrell’s in Ottumwa for 22 ½ years. He was a member of the Floris Baptist Church and was a Lick Creek Township trustee for 30 years.

He is survived by his wife; 2 sons Dr. Richard L. Rysdam of Seattle, Washington and John Rysdam; 3 daughters Trudy (Tim) Tucker of Fairfield, Iowa, Nancy (Craig) Barker of Drakesville, Iowa and Anita Rysdam of Des Moines, Iowa; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 4 brothers James and Don Rysdam both of Drakesville, Iowa and Darrell and Rex Rysdam both of Bloomfield, Iowa and 2 sisters Ruth Gladson of Bloomfield, Iowa and Carolyn Golick of Hastings, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson Marshall Tucker and a great grandson Eric Tucker.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Thursday, April 5, 2007 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Gordon Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in the Floris Cemetery in Floris, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm Wednesday with the family present from 6:00-8:00 pm. Memorials in lieu of flowers have been established to the Floris Baptist Church and the Floris Fire Departments.

BETTY L. THOMPSON

BLOOMFIELD - BETTY L. THOMPSON, age 78 of Bloomfield died March 31, 2007 at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield. She was born icon October 7, 1928 in Davis County, Iowa to Alfred L. and Doris Fox White. She married icon Robert R. Small December 2, 1944 in Lancaster, Missouri. He preceded her in death August 9, 1974. She married icon Glenn “Joe” Thompson February 6, 1980 in Dallas, Texas. He preceded her in death December 3, 1994. She was a resident of Davis County most of her life and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church.

She is survived by a daughter Doris Maria (Barry) Smith of Clive, Iowa; 3 sons Lynn (Randi) Small of Bloomfield, Iowa, Ronnie (Carolyn) Small of Davenport, Iowa and Brice (Laura) Small of Waxhaw, North Carolina; a stepson Tommy (Marcella) Thompson of Bloomfield, Iowa; a stepdaughter Pam (John) Humphreys of Woodward, Iowa; 9 grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 11 step great grandchildren and a step great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; a brother James White; a grandson Kelly Small and a stepdaughter Glenda Myers.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Wednesday April 4, 2007 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. James Wakelin officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitaiton will begin at 9:00 am Tuesday with the family present from 6:30-8:00 pm. A memorial has been established to the Bloomfield Christian Church.

NANCY E. HARBOUR

BLOOMFIELD - NANCY E. HARBOUR, age 81 of rural Bloomfield died March 30, 2007 at her home. She was born icon November 22, 1925 in Appanoose County, Iowa to Jess O. and Frances Alexander Dixon. She married icon Denzyl Harbour April 17, 1947 in Lancaster, Missouri. She was a resident of Davis County most of her life and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Parent Teacher Association and helped with Troop 91 of the Boy Scouts.

She is survived by her husband; a son Dennis (Julie) Harbour of Bloomfield, Iowa and a daughter Dena Sue Harbour of California, Missouri; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 2 brothers Walter Dixon of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Mike Dixon of Durango, Colorado; a sister Enid Ellen Kirby of Moulton, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Max “Bud” Dixon and a sister Ava Nell Miller.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Monday April 2, 2007 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor David Albert officiating. Burial will be in the Harbour Cemetery in Davis County, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am Sunday with the family present from 2:00-4:00 pm. A memorial has been established to the Davis County Historical Society.

WILLIAM C. “BILL” SHERMAN

PULASKI - WILLIAM C. “BILL” SHERMAN, age 67 of Pulaski, Iowa died March 27, 2007 at his home. He was born icon November 19, 1939 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Phillip S. and Edith Cowles Sherman. He married icon Lela Gillaspie April 23, 1960 in Pulaski, Iowa. He was a resident of Davis County his lifetime and was a farmer. He was a 1958 graduate of Pulaski High School.

He is survived by his wife; 2 sons Jerry (Cindy) Sherman of Hallsville, Missouri and Jeff Sherman of Waukee, Iowa; a daughter Cheri (Mitchell) Buckner of Ashland, Missouri; 8 grandchildren Serena (Kirk) Scott, Latitia and Katelyn Sherman, Blake Sherman, Mike Sherman Mattingly, Devin Bullard, Jamie Buckner, Will Buckner; a sister Karen Wisbey of Buffalo Grove, Illinois and a special friend Buck Wheaton of Pulaski, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 pm Saturday March 31, 2007 at the Pulaski Cemetery in Pulaski, Iowa with Doran Bollman officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am Friday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the family present from 6:00-8:00 pm. A memorial has been established in his name.

SYLVIA M.C. LAWSON

BLOOMFIELD - SYLVIA M.C. LAWSON age 86, of Bloomfield, Iowa died March 24, 2007 at the Davis County Hospital Long Term Care. She was born icon August 30, 1920 in Davis County, Iowa to Hulbert and Genevieve Pence Lough. She married icon Clifford W. Lawson on October 4, 1942 in Lancaster, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 22, 1982. A life long resident of Davis County, she was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Monterey Christian Church and was president of CWF for several years, a charter member of the Monterey Welcome Neighbors Club; Rebekah Lodge #1 of Bloomfield for over 50 years, Women’s Relief Corps, American Legion Auxiliary and was a 4-H leader for over 20 years.

She is survived by a sister, Betty Williams of Bloomfield, a brother Charles (Donna) Lough of Vinton, Iowa, a sister in law Lorraine Lough of Bloomfield and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, step father, Vessie Bales, husband and two brothers; John and Richard Lough, a sister Lee Etta Kinder and three step sisters; Aurvilla Luko, Cora Mae Spurgeon and Romera Loar and a step brother, Leonard Bales.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Reverend DeWayne Lawson officiating. Burial will be at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation will begin after 9:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Rebekah services at 7:00 p.m. with family visitation following.

Memorials have been established to the Monterey Christian Church and Bloomfield Christian Church.

ELAINE RUTH TOMLIN

BLOOMFIELD - ELAINE RUTH TOMLIN, age 88 of Ottumwa and former Bloomfield resident died March 21, 2007 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. She was born icon September 27, 1918 in Wyoming to Emil and Signa Erickson Sundling. Elaine was the fifth of six children born icon to Emil and Signa both of whom were born icon in Sweden before coming to the United States where they met and married. Elaine married icon Alfred Robert Tomlin on February 16, 1936 in Sutton, Nebraska where they lived until 1942 when they moved to Iowa looking for better farming country. They farmed near Drakesville, Iowa and later moved east of Bloomfield where they farmed until Robert’s death, December 6, 1981.

Elaine was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where she was active in the women’s group, she was a leader in 4-H in Davis County and was active in Rebekah Lodge #1 where she held offices at the local and state levels. She and Bob were members of a pitch club and loved dancing, but her true love was the outdoors and fishing was her favorite pastime. She was not opposed to leaving the dinner dishes on the table while she made a mad dash to cast a line in the pond with hopes of catching the next meal. She was a creative person who could construct, repair and restore just about anything whether she had the “correct” tools or not. She was not opposed to using her shoe for a hammer if it meant getting the job done in a timely manner. When she thought they needed a barbeque in the backyard, she gathered the brick and mortar and confiscated the grate from a furnace and commenced to building it herself.

Elaine is survived by her daughter Roberta Joyce (Dennis) Archer of Ottumwa, Iowa, 2 grandchildren Kevin Clair (Jennifer) Archer of Albia, Iowa and Carrie Denise (Eric) Hines of Denver, Colorado and a great grandson Gavin Robert Archer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bob and her siblings Melvin Sundling, Hjalmer Sundling, Burnette Sundling, Adeline (Sundling) Bingel and Ina (Sundling) Wilson.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Saturday March 24, 2007 at the Bloomfield Christian Church with Rev. James Wakelin officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM Friday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the family present from 6:00-8:00 PM. Memorials have been established to the Rebekah Lodge and the Bloomfield Christian Church.

REGGIE M. GUITER

BLOOMFIELD - REGGIE M. GUITER, age 64 of Bloomfield died March 17, 2007 at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield. He was born icon May 11, 1942 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Kenneth Vernon and Dorothy Irene Miller Guiter. He married icon Veronica Bolick November 11, 1962 in Bloomfield. He married icon Cindy Stockham August 1979 in Bloomfield. He married icon Sue Hendricks August 26, 1987 in Durango, Colorado. A resident of Bloomfield most of his life, Reggie retired from John Deere Ottumwa Works in December 2000. Reggie and his best friend, wife Sue, enjoyed vacationing in the mountains, car races and building their ’39 Chevy Sedan. Throughout his life Reggie’s passion was building street rods, one of which was a 1951 Chevy pickup that was a high school graduation present for his son Zach. In recent months, his newest interest was building a Rat Rod, which he left for the completion and enjoyment of his son Mike. He was a member of the United Auto Workers.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Guiter of Bloomfield; 2 sons Michael (Sherri) Guiter and Zachary Guiter both of Bloomfield; 2 grandchildren Camile Diana and Clay Michael Guiter; a sister Shirley (Mike) Burgmeier of Pinion Hills, California and a special cousin who was like a brother Tom (Pat) Roach of Bloomfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather Warren Scarborough and a son Charles Lee Guiter.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 am Friday March 23, 2007 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa with Pastor Kevin Gingerich officiating. Burial of cremains will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield, Iowa. The family will be at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday to greet friends. A memorial has been established to his family.
