Carrie Johnson
Carrie Annette Marie Johnson, 85, of Carthage, Ill., died of natural causes at 3:50 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at Hancock County Nursing Home in Carthage. Arrangements are pending at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage.
Blane Anderson
Carson Blane Anderson, 34, of Iowa City died Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, in a plane crash near Grinnell.
Born Sept. 13, 1972, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of H. Eugene "Gene" and Joy Rayman Anderson of West Burlington. On April 22, 2000, he married Heidi Lynn Kirkwood in Oxford.
Mr. Anderson was the chief pilot for Jet Air Inc., based at Iowa City Airport. As a courier for the Organ Donor Network, he transported doctors, patients and organs for transplant recipients. Prior to that, he was a truck driver for the Trucking Department of Eldon C. Stutsman Inc. in Hills, a deli and bakery cook for New Pioneer Co–op in Iowa City, a guitar teacher at West Music in Iowa City and a bus driver for the Iowa City public schools.
He was a 1990 graduate of Burlington High School and a 1994 graduate of the University of Iowa, where he majored in religion, English and Spanish.
His passion was music. He played and recorded with local bands, most frequently Firewood Revival, as well as Mad for Cheese, Eric Strominous and the Douglas Leaders, the Low Gravity Band, Big Daddy Sugar Snake, Butter, Irene and the Mad River Band and Shoe Money. He began studying guitar at the age of 7 with Terry Hinesley in Burlington.
Survivors include his wife; twins Ruby Jo and Eli, and daughter, RosaMae; his parents of West Burlington; one sister, Kiki Anderson Chanders of Colorado; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Harriette Rayman of Elberon; his paternal grandparents, Fred and Winifred Harris of Burlington; and two nieces.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lensing Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Iowa City.
The funeral for Mr. Anderson will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Old Brick Church in Iowa City with a celebration of his life to follow. Private family burial will be near Burlington.
Memorials have been established for the Anderson Children Education Scholarship fund and the Southern Poverty Law Center.
Anna Kaltefleiter–Glidewell
Anna Mae Kaltefleiter–Glidewell, 59, of Mediapolis, died at 9:57 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Arrangements are pending at Hass Funeral Home.
Clayton Lintz
Clayton M. Lintz, 87, of Crawfordsville died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at Washington Care Center.
Born June 18, 1917, in Richmond, he was the son of Leonard and Antoinette Keifer Lintz. On Feb. 4, 1941, he married Leila Jarvis in Washington.
Mr. Lintz had farmed in the Wyman area since 1942 and was a fur and wool buyer.
He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Washington and enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping and his dog.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gene and Rick Lintz, both of Crawfordsville; three daughters, Lorena Feiner of Oak Hill, N.Y., Carol Steele of Crawfordsville and Cathy Flam of Broken Arrow, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; and one great–granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Jones Funeral Home in Washington, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Lintz will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Richmond, with the Rev. Rich Adam officiating. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to Hospice of Washington County.
Betty Ertz
Elizabeth E. "Betty" Ertz, 83, of Burlington, died at 7:42 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at Prairie Ridge Care and Rehab Center in Mediapolis.
Born Jan. 28, 1922, in Fort Madison, she was the daughter of Thomas Rufus and Mabel Mary Hageman Hopewell. On March 7, 1943, she married Roy Charles Ertz at Garden City Army Air Force Base in Garden City, Kan.
Mrs. Ertz worked at Northwestern Bell in Burlington as a group chief operator and then at Mountain Bell in Phoenix, Ariz, retiring after 20 years in 1983.
She was a member of SS. John and Paul Catholic Church and was a 1940 graduate of St. Paul's High School. She was a member of the Church Alter and Rosary Society, PTA and Cub Scouts. She enjoyed reading, making hooked rugs, watching sports and traveling. She especially loved to fly in her husband's plane all over the country.
Survivors include her husband; five sons, Roy Thomas Ertz of Glendale, Ariz., Robert "Bo Bo" Allan Ertz of Columbia, Mo., Timothy James Ertz of Summerville, Ala., Mark George Ertz of Okinawa, Japan, and Joseph Milburn Ertz of Peoria, Ariz.; three daughters, Mary Hope Cho of Aiea, Hawaii, and Angela Joyce Angeron and Martha Lynn Smith, both of Hammond, La.; 13 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three brothers, Thomas Hopewell of Adel, Dennis Hopewell of Simi Valley, Calif., and Mark Hopewell of Burlington; one sister, Barbara Cain of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson and one sister.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hass–Thielen Funeral Home, with a Rosary recited at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends following a 6:30 p.m. Christian Wake Service until 8 p.m.
The Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Ertz will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Patrick J. Hilgendorf officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to Burlington Notre Dame School System.
David Baxter
David D. Baxter, 44, of Mount Pleasant, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at his home. Funeral arrangements are pending at Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant.
Adele Lampe
Adele Mohrfeld Lampe, 52, of Johnston, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at her home.
Born Aug. 14, 1952, she was the daughter of Theodore "Toby" and Gertrude Mohrfeld. On Aug. 12, 1972, she married Henry Lampe.
Mrs. Lampe was a medical assistant for Dr. Kaboli in Donnellson and later for Dr. Scholtz in Des Moines.
She founded the Heart Connection in Des Moines for terminally ill children with cancer. She also started a summer camp for these children and their siblings.
Survivors include her husband; one son, John; two grandchildren; her mother of Fort Madison; five brothers, James of Houston, Ted and Dan, both of St. Paul, and Rich and Matt, both of Fort Madison; three sisters, Mary Claire of Ames, Ann Schulte of Marshalltown and Jean Anderson of Maquoketa; and 20 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Hamilton's near Highland Memorial Gardens in Des Moines. The body has been cremated.
A memorial service for Mrs. Lampe will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Church in Fort Madison.

Boyd Williams
Boyd E. Williams, 87, of Hemet, Calif., died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, at Morning Star Cottage in Hemet.
He was born Oct. 16, 1917, on a family farm in Denmark. On Dec. 7, 1939, he married Virginia Louise Bischoff in Burlington.
Mr. Williams worked at the Iowa Ordnance Plant in Middletown and Klein Manufacturing in Burlington before moving to California. He retired from Northrop Corp. in Anaheim, Calif., in 1982.
He was a graduate of Denmark Academy and Burlington Junior College. He enjoyed fishing and camping.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Nancy Brodie of Alta Loma, Calif.; one son, Larry E. Williams of New London; six grandchildren and eight great–grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Hemet Valley Mortuary in Hemet.
The graveside service for Mr. Williams will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Anaheim Cemetery.
Arthur Manush
Arthur John Manush, 85, of Burlington, died at 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born Oct. 28, 1916, in Burlington, he was the son of George H. and Myrtle M. Funk Manush. He married Catherine Bradley on June 7, 1945, in Los Angeles.
Mr. Manush was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He worked as an inspector/auditor for the Atomic Energy Commission, retiring after 32 years.
He was a past exalted ruler of the Elks Lodge and a member of the Moose, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, Marine Corps League, I Club, Iowa Letterman — Delta Tau Delta, U.S. Marine Corps Radier Association and Knights of Columbus (4th degree). He retired as a full colonel after 32 years with the Iowa National Guard. He was a member of Sts. John & Paul Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter,Catherine Maurer of Nashville, Tenn.; one son, John Manush of Woodinville, Wash.; one sister, Marjorie Moore of Florida; three grandchildren; three great–grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
His body has been cremated.
The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Catholic Church.
The funeral for Mr. Manush will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Patrick Hilgendorf officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by the Iowa Army National Guard.
Memorials have been established for Knights of Columbus and Elks Lodge 184.

David Menke
David Menke, Sr., 63, of West Point, died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, at Keokuk Area Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Link Funeral Home in West Point.
Albert Brueck
Albert R. Brueck, 89, of Burlington died at 5:15 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Rose Bush Gardens Health Center.
Born June 7, 1915, in Burlington, he was the son of Mathias and Anna Dehlinger Brueck. On Nov. 23, 1944, he married Mary Dorothy Waters in Burlington. She died Feb. 24, 1987. On June 17, 1989, he married Frances Gillaspie in Burlington. She died July 1, 1993.
Mr. Brueck was a 55–year member of Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local 125, as well as a member of Knights of Columbus, Moose Lodge 579, Eagles Aerie 150 and SS. John and Paul Catholic Church. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He loved tending his roses, dancing, playing cards and socializing.
Survivors include three daughters, Ann Inghram of Danville, Kathy Tieman of Burlington and Connie Kehmeier of Denver; two sons, Terry Brueck of St. Paul, Minn., and Tom Brueck of Burlington; nine grandchildren; three great–grandchildren; special friend, Geri Ostertag of Burlington; nieces and nephews; and five stepchildren.
Besides his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and four brothers.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at Prugh's Chapel. A rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Catholic Church, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. A Christian wake service will be at 7 p.m.
The Mass of Christian burial for Mr. Brueck will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Patrick Hilgendorf officiating. Burial with full military rites conducted by VFW Posts 10102 and 9162, American Legion Post 52, Hamilton–Walters Marine Corps League and AmVets Post 29 will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Burlington Catholic Schools.
