JAMES W. “JIMMY” MILLER
BLOOMFIELD - JAMES W. “JIMMY” MILLER, age 86 of Iowa City, Iowa and former Bloomfield resident died Tuesday May 10, 2005 at Greenwood Manor in Iowa City. He was born
November 23, 1918 in Stiles, Iowa to Harry Clinton and Ethel Petefish Miller. He married
Eula Maxine Waughop August 16, 1944 in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1936 and served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. He owned and operated Miller Meat Market in Bloomfield for several years and later entered the livestock purchasing business with his father in Bloomfield. He later moved to Woodward, Iowa and was a State of Iowa employee, serving as head of the meat department at the Woodward State Hospital for 20 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church and Reed Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion in Bloomfield.
He is survived by his wife Maxine Miller of Iowa City, Iowa; a daughter Regina Brown and husband Greg of Wapello, Iowa and 2 grandchildren Clinton Brown of Pella, Iowa and Ashley Brown of Wapello, Iowa.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM Friday May 13, 2005 at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield with Rev. James Wakelin officiating. Military rites will be performed by Reed Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion in Bloomfield. Open visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM Friday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Family visitation will be held at the Bloomfield Christian Church following the service. Memorials have been established to the Bloomfield Christian Church and the Avenue of Flags at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield.
VAUGHN ROGER WAGLER
PULASKI - VAUGHN ROGER WAGLER, age 66 of Pulaski, Iowa died May 8, 2005 at his home. He was born
September 7, 1938 in Pulaski, Iowa to Lowell and Florence Cowles Wagler. He married
Patricia Rose Thompson September 6, 1959 in Pulaski, Iowa. He was a resident of Pulaski his lifetime and was a farmer. He was a 1957 graduate of Pulaski High School, a member of the Bloomfield United Methodist Church and a former member of the Davis County Cattleman’s Association, Davis County Fair Board, 4-H and bowling league.
He is survived by his wife; a son Mark Wagler of Pulaski, Iowa; 2 daughters Debra Wagler of Carson City, Nevada and Melody Palladino of Hermann, Missouri and 2 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a son Douglas Vaughn Wagler and a brother Vernon Wagler.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Thursday, May 12, 2005 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Kevin Gingerich officiating. Burial will be in the Pulaski Cemetery in Pulaski, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Wednesday with the family present from 6:00-8:00 PM. Memorials have been established to the Davis County First Responders and the Pulaski Fire Department.
MARY RUTH EAKINS
BLOOMFIELD - MARY RUTH EAKINS, age 86 of Bloomfield died April 21, 2005 at the Davis County Hospital Long Term Care in Bloomfield. She was born
June 25, 1918 in Platte County, Missouri to James Robert and Mattie Lee Wallace Ashcraft. She married
Homer W. Eakins December 24, 1938 in Lancaster, Missouri, he preceded her in death February 9, 1991. She was a homemaker and resided in Davis County most of her life. She was a member of the Mark Baptist Church.
She is survived by 5 sons Richard, Bill, Jack, and David Eakins all of Bloomfield and Garry Eakins of Elkhart, Indiana; 2 daughters Betty Helmick of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Alice Enlow of Bloomfield; 20 grandchildren; 28 great grandhchildren; 1 great great granddaughter and a sister Fern Dagley of Mosby, Missouri.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; 3 sons Tommy and James Eakins and Harold DeWayne Ashcraft; a granddaughter; 9 brothers and 4 sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Monday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Steve Houser officiating. Burial will be in the Wesley Chapel North Cemetery in Davis County, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Sunday with the family present from 2:00-3:30 PM. A memorial has been established to the Davis County Hospital Long Term Care.
JANICE PAULINE “POLLY” FIDLER
BLOOMFIELD - JANICE PAULINE “POLLY” FIDLER, age 84 of Bloomfield died April 18, 2005 at the Bloomfield Care Center. She was born
October 18, 1920 in Imperial, California to Clarence and Gladys Shaddy Oliver. She married
Bernard D. Fidler in Burlington, Iowa, he preceded her in death November 27, 1983. She had been a resident of Bloomfield since 1998. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Denver, Colorado.
She is survived by 2 step sons Danny and Jim Fidler both of Burlington, Iowa; step grandchildren; step great grandchildren and a sister Wilberta Clendenen of Milton, Iowa.
The body has been donated to the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Science in Des Moines, Iowa. No visitation or services are planned. Burial of the cremains will be in the Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado at a later date. Memorials have been established to the American Cancer Fund and the Bloomfield Care Center Activity Fund and may be sent to Wagler Funeral Home 304 West Jefferson Street Bloomfield, Iowa 52537. Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield in charge of arrangements.
LLOYD RAHE WHEELER
BLOOMFIELD - LLOYD RAHE WHEELER, age 85 of Ottumwa and former Bloomfield resident died April 10, 2005. He was born
September 12, 1919 in Davis County, Iowa to Marcus H. “Joe” and Olive Monahan Wheeler. He married
Alta Irene Kieffer March 5, 1944 in Lancaster, Missouri, she preceded him in death December 1, 1986. He farmed the family farm for several years before becoming a truck driver for Warren Transport.
He is survived by 2 daughters Judy (Paul) Gettings of Ottumwa and Connie (Paul) Cantrell of Drakesville; a son Stephan Wheeler of Golden Valley, Minnesota; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter and a sister Telma Keyser of Drakesville.
He is preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Friday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Richard Friend officiating. Burial will be in the North Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Davis County, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Thursday with the family present from 6:30-8:30 PM. A memorial has been established to the North Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
MALINDA J. SCHROCK
BLOOMFIELD - MALINDA J. SCHROCK, age 86 of rural Bloomfield died December 27, 2005 at her home. She was born
April 23, 1919 in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania to Jonas and Nancy Byler Petersheim. She married
Adam J. Schrock October 10, 1940 in Dover, Delaware. He preceded her in death June 8, 2005. She had been a resident of Davis County since 1987. She was a homemaker and member of the Old Order Amish.
She is survived by 3 sons Roy Schrock of LaGrange, Indiana, William Schrock of Hamilton, Montana and Roman Schrock of Fredricktown, Ohio; 4 daughters Mattie Detweiler of Bloomfield, Iowa, Rosa Lambright of LaMar, Missouri, Lena Wickey of LaGrange, Indiana and Dora Lambright of Whitehall, Wisconsin; 73 grandchildren and 267 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and a brother Tobias Petersheim.
Funeral services will be at 9:00 AM Friday December 30, 2005 at the Joseph Wagler residence 19029 Ice Avenue Bloomfield, Iowa, with the Minister In Charge Melvin Schrock. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Davis County, Iowa. Visitation will be Thursday at the Daniel Yoder residence 18392 200th Street Bloomfield, Iowa. Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield in charge of arrangements.
SCOTT F. WAGLER
BLOOMFIELD - SCOTT F. WAGLER, age 67 of Johnston, Iowa and former Bloomfield resident died December 18, 2005 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born
September 12, 1938 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Scott Finch and Ruth Maureen Stinson Dodd Wagler. He served in the United States Army. He had worked for Easter Seals Camp Sunnyside in Des Moines for several years and had been co-owner of the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with his brother, Richard Wagler. He later served as general manager of Merle Hay Funeral Home in Des Moines, Iowa. He was a member of the Bloomfield United Methodist Church and the Iowa Funeral Directors Association.
He is survived by 2 sons Justin (Stephanie) Wagler of Windsor Heights, Iowa and Jason (Mandy) Wagler of Floris, Iowa; 5 grandchildren; a sister Marsha Jarrett of Altoona, Iowa and 2 brothers Gene Wagler of Clear Lake, Iowa and Richard Wagler of Bloomfield, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be at 1:00 PM Thursday December 22, 2005 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. ellis Andrews officiating. Burial of the cremains will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. The family will be at the Wagler Funeral Home for visitation, Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 PM. A memorial in lieu of flowers has been established to the Pony Express Camp Sunnyside.
CARL E. CHADWICK
BLOOMFIELD - CARL E. CHADWICK, age 86 of Bloomfield died December 22, 2006 at his home. He was born
September 1, 1920 in Bloomfield, Iowa to Levi and Ruth Christy Chadwick. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked for Western Electric, retiring in 1980. He was affiliated with the Bloomfield Christian Church and was a member of Reed Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion in Bloomfield and the Bloomfield Country Club.
He is survived by 2 brothers Robert Chadwick of Ottumwa, Iowa and John Chadwick of St. Louis, Missouri and 7 sisters Doris Spurgeon of Washington, Iowa, Joyce Pence of Bloomfield, Iowa, Alice Harder of Central Point, Oregon, Jean Koehler of Burlington, Iowa, Joann Hunter of Seymour, Iowa and Judith and Jeanette Chadwick both of West Burlington, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Martin Chadwick and a sister Mary Lee Lyons.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday December 27, 2006 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. James Wakelin officiating. Burial with graveside military rites by Reed Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion in Bloomfield will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Tuesday with the family present from 6:00-8:00 PM. A memorial has been established to the Bloomfield Country Club.
BONNIE LEE GRIFFITH
PULASKI - BONNIE LEE GRIFFITH, age 68 of Fairfield and former Pulaski resident went to be with the Lord December 21, 2006 at the Nelson Nursing Home in Fairfield, Iowa. She was born
October 16, 1938 in Bloomfield, Iowa to August Lee and Helen Saner Russell. She married
Donny Russell Spriggs August 1958 in Kirksville, Missouri. She later married
George Wallace Griffith August 12, 1978 in Rock Island, Illinois. She received her masters degree in special education from Northeast Missouri State University. She was a retired teacher in the Quad Cities and substituted in the Davis County Community Schools. She attended the Calvary Community Church in Pulaski, Iowa.
She is survived by her husband; 4 daughters Janet McCullough of Bloomfield, Iowa, Charity Roth-Griffith of Lebanon, Iowa, Georganna Torress of Clinton, Iowa and April Hendricks of Fairfield, Iowa; a step son David Griffith of Clinton, Iowa; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; her mother Helen Russell of Bloomfield, Iowa; 3 brothers Dean Russell of Sigourney, Iowa, Steven Russell of Oxford, Iowa and John Russell of Milton, Iowa and 4 sisters Betty Forrester of Terrebonne, Oregon, Cheryl Leech and Mary Chadwick both of Wheatland, Iowa and Rose Condon of Hobart, New York.
She was preceded in death by her father and a sister Helen June Russell.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday December 30, 2006 at the Calvary Community Church in Pulaski, Iowa with Pastor Doran Bollman officiating. The family will be present at the church for visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. A memorial has been established to the Calvary Community Church. Burial of the cremains will be in the Floris Cemetery at a later date. Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield in charge of arrangements.
MARY LEE HERSHEY
BLOOMFIELD - MARY LEE HERSHEY, age 73 of rural Bloomfield died December 15, 2006 at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield. She was born
August 22, 1933 in Davis County, Iowa to Roy and Myra Kinney Downing. She married
Larry Hershey December 21, 1952 in Troy, Iowa. She was a resident of Davis County her lifetime. She taught in rural Davis County schools and was a substitute teacher in the Davis County Community Schools. She was a member of the Troy United Methodist Church, the Mission Circle and was a correspondent for the Troy area for the Bloomfield Democrat.
She is survived by her husband; a daughter Marla Piper of Bloomfield, Iowa; 2 sons Kevin Hershey of Troy, Iowa and Tracy Hershey of Johnston, Iowa; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and 2 brothers Jerry Downing of Columbia, Missouri and Dale Downing of Kirksville, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Monday December 18, 2006 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Donna Olinger officiating. Burial will be in the Troy Cemetery in Troy, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Sunday with the family present from 2:00-4:00 PM. Memorials have been established to the Troy United Methodist Church and Hospice, Inc.
