Patricia L. Baylor
(March 21, 1954 - March 21, 2013)

Patricia Baylor, 59 of What Cheer died Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the Serenity House in Oskaloosa. A graveside funeral service will begin at 11:00 am on Monday at the Highland Cemetery in What Cheer. A funeral procession will form at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer at 10:45 am. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home from 5 to 7 pm. In place of flowers the family strongly prefers memorial contributions be made to the What Cheer Fire & Rescue or the Serenity House Hospice.

Patricia Larine Baylor was born icon March 21, 1954 in Oskaloosa, Iowa the daughter of John and Dorothy George Baylor. She was a 1972 graduate of the Tri-County High School and later worked at First Resource in Sigourney. Pat was faithful Hawkeye fan and rarely missed watching a game. She cared deeply for her loyal friends, Herky and Cookie. Pat also enjoyed what some would consider the finer things in life such as Omaha Steaks. Her freezer was generally full of the best cut possible. Pat maintained her independence her entire life. From time to time she could be a bit stubborn but only to keep her sisters on their toes.

Pat is preceded in death by her parents, a sister Jane Baylor and a nephew Daryn Axmear.

She is survived by her two sisters: Betsy (Dave) Axmear of Sigourney and Joann (Larry) Bair of Keswick. She also leaves behind a former brother-in-law, Terry Burger of What Cheer as well as several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy Louise Young
(August 7, 1918 - March 24, 2013)

Dorothy Young, 94 of Montezuma passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013 at the Montezuma Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma. Interment will be held in the Barnes City Cemetery in Barnes City. Visitation will begin after 12:00 pm Wednesday, March 27, 2013 with the family present from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Barnes City United Methodist Church or the Montezuma United Methodist Church.

Dorothy Louise Young, daughter of Edward and Ida (Sanders) Lowe, was born icon on August 7, 1918 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She was a 1936 graduate of Barnes City High School. She attended beauty school and worked as a licensed beautician in Oskaloosa. She married icon Milton Young in 1946 and to this union one son Don was born.

Dorothy worked at Sig. Manufacturing retiring after 20 years. She was a lifetime member of the Barnes City United Methodist Church and taught Bible School and Sunday School. She was also a lifetime member of the Montezuma United Methodist Church. She especially enjoyed her family.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Roger Sampson.

Dorothy is survived by her son Don (Cherie) Young of Montezuma; her grandsons, Justin Young of Montezuma, Preston (Connie) Young of Montezuma and Austin (Taren) Young of Montezuma; her great grandchildren Westen, Willow, Stevie, Brittany, Jordon, Isaiah, Macy, Kayl, Charley, Beau and Jaxon. Also, her sister Ruth Sampson of Montezuma, her nieces Bev (Lamont) Strong and family and Andrea (Dennis) Dursky and family.

Phyllis Delberta Osborn
(February 7, 1929 - March 26, 2013)

Phyllis Osborn, 84 of Montezuma passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the Montezuma Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Montezuma. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am Friday, March 29, 2013 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma. Burial will be held in the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma. Visitation will begin after 3:00 pm on Thursday, March 28, 2013 with the family present from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Montezuma Fire Department or the Montezuma Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Phyllis Delberta Davis Osborn was born icon on February 7, 1929, in Hartwick, Iowa, the daughter of Hefmon and Lydia (Schrader) Davis. The family moved to Montezuma when she was 9. Phyllis graduated from Montezuma High School in 1947. She worked at the Maid Rite during her High School years.

Following graduation, she worked as a secretary for Smith and Swink Attorney, Brownells and in the Clerk of Court office. On October 24, 1948, she was united in marriage to Glenn E. Osborn at the Methodist Church in Montezuma. To this union two sons were born. After they were married, Phyllis became a dedicated farm wife and mother. The couple farmed in the Grinnell and Montezuma area settling at their present farm north of Montezuma.

Phyllis loved caring for her family. She was a wonderful cook and baker. She loved trying new recipes, her pies, homemade breads and rolls were the best! Besides cooking and baking, Phyllis also enjoyed gardening, reading, needle work, and her neighborhood clubs -- KYN and Willing Workers. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hefmon and Lydia Davis and three sisters, Lavone McCaulley, Virginia Johnston and Dema Hall.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, Glenn of Montezuma; sons Kevin (Kathy) Osborn of Montezuma and Ken (Mary) Osborn of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Abby (Ron) Huckins of Coggan, Emily (Steven) Bell of Central City, Andy (Staci) Osborn of Withrop and Eric Osborn of Montezuma; a great grandson, Brayden Bell; a sister, Ladona Anderson, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Beatrice A. Dvorak
(April 20, 1928 - March 27, 2013)

Beatrice Dvorak, 84, of Chelsea died Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at the Belle Plaine Nursing & Rehab Center. A Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at the St Joseph's Catholic Church in Chelsea. Visitation will be held Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church from 4:00 to 7:00 pm with a Vigil service beginning at 7:00 pm. Burial will be in the St. Joseph's Cemetery at Chelsea. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chelsea Public Library or to St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Beatrice Agnes Dvorak was born icon April 20, 1928 in Chelsea, Iowa the daughter of Fred and Anna Vavroch Musel. She was a 1946 graduate of the Chelsea High School . Then on January 20, 1948 she was united in marriage to Donald William Dvorak at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Beaty worked several years as a cook and a teachers aid for the South Tama County Schools. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Alter & Rosary Society, Foresters and the American Legion Auxiliary . Beaty also served as a Chelsea City Council member and later volunteered at the Marshalltown Veterans Home as well as South Tama County Schools. She enjoyed any opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren, quilting, sewing, gardening and reading a good book. Beaty will be remembered for making delicious kolaches and holiday meals.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald Dvorak; two brothers: Bernie and Don Musel and a brother-in-law, James Ledvina.

Beaty is survived by a daughter, Sr. Shirley Shafranek, OSF, of Tiffin, OH; four sons: Jim (Shari) Dvorak of Soddy Daisy, TN, Joe (Peg) Dvorak of Colfax, Jerry (Nikki) Dvorak of Tampa, FL, Tom (Jackie) Dvorak of Chelsea; a sister, Sharlene "Skip" Ledvina of Chelsea; a brother, Bob (Joyce) Musel of San Antonia, TX; two sisters-in-law, Arlene Musel of Belle Plaine and Audrey Musel of Toledo. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Melvin Leroy Hughes
(September 17, 1931 - March 28, 2013)

Melvin Hughes, 81 of New Sharon, Iowa passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the Montezuma Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Graveside services will begin at 11 am Monday, April 1, 2013 at the Woods Cemetery near Lacey. Visitation will be held Monday at 9:00 am until 10:45 am at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in New Sharon. Memorials may be made to: Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter 2290 235th St Oskaloosa, IA 52577

Melvin Leroy Hughes was born icon on September 17, 1931 at Lacey, Iowa. He was the son of John Allen and Beulah Love Heitsman Hughes. He attended school in Lacey until the 8th grade. He worked as a mechanic at the Chevy dealership in New Sharon and as a custodian at the New Sharon High School for years. Melvin enjoyed visiting Branson and garage sales with friends. He also enjoyed riding horses, visiting with friends and family and eating double cheese burgers at McDonald's. He will always be remembered as a kind hearted and caring person.

He is proceeded in death by his parents and his two sisters Dora Craver and LaVadea Dickerson. Melvin is survived by several great nieces and nephews.

NEVA MAE GARDNER

TROY - NEVA MAE GARDNER, age 80 of Bloomfield and formerly of Troy, Iowa died December 1, 2005 at the Bloomfield Care Center. She was born icon February 25, 1925 in Davis County, Iowa to John F. and Elsie M. Darnell Chaplin. She married icon Kenneth Gardner March 21, 1959 in Bloomfield, Iowa. He preceded her in death November 15, 2005. She was a homemaker and wrote articles and Troy news for the Ottumwa Courier. She was a member of the Troy United Methodist Church, the Rebekah Lodge in Troy, Mothers Club and the Troy United Methodist Church Quilters.

She is survived by 2 daughters Dorothy “Dee” Gardner and special friend Rusty Parker of Waterloo, Iowa and Rosemarie Potts and special friend Stephen Kidder of Sedro-Wooley, Washington; a granddaughter Kendra M. Bonnesen; a great grandson A.J. Bonnesen; 2 grandsons Jon & Jason Allen and their children all of New London, Iowa and a sister-in-law Mary Chaplin of Milton, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 4 brothers Vern, Ivan, Lloyd and Forrest Chaplin and 3 sisters Leta Chance and Evelyn and Doris.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM Saturday December 3, 2005 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Donna Olinger officiating. Burial will be in the Troy Cemetery in Troy, Iowa. Open visitation will begin at 2:00 PM Friday December 2, 2005 with the family present from 6:00-8:00 PM. A memorial has been established to the Troy Academy.

MABEL I. BISH

BLOOMFIELD - MABEL I. BISH, age 92 of Bloomfield died November 28, 2005 at the Bloomfield Care Center. She was born icon August 7, 1913 in Davis County, Iowa to Theodore and Ethel Mae Wiggins Richardson. She married icon James E. Bish September 16, 1938 in Memphis, Missouri. He preceded her in death on February 15, 1985. A resident of Davis County her lifetime, she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church, a former member of Rebekah Lodge #1 in Bloomfield and a member of the Waubonsie and the Sew and So Clubs.

She is survived by a son Jerry L. Bish of Bloomfield; 3 grandchildren; 4 great grandsons and 3 great great grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson; a granddaughter; a brother Charles Hubert Richardson and a sister Ruth Lois Knapp.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM Thursday December 1, 2005 at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield with Rev. James Wakelin officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM Wednesday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with the family present from 6:00-7:30 PM. A memorial has been established to her family.

GARY LYNN MOZINGO

BLOOMFIELD - GARY LYNN MOZINGO, age 62 of Bloomfield died November 26, 2005 at his home. He was born icon November 27, 1942 in Maryville, Missouri to Willaim E. and Thelma P. Henry Mozingo. He graduated from Northwest Missouri State College in Maryville, Missouri and had worked for the State of Missouri for Employment Services in Kansas City. He had been a resident of Bloomfield for the past 2 years.

He is survived by 2 sons Philip Mozingo of Daytona Beach, Florida and Eric Mozingo of Kansas City, Missouri and 3 brothers Bill Mozingo of Maryville, Missouri, Bob Mozingo of Burlington, Iowa and Jerry Mozingo of Bloomfield, Iowa.

The body has been cremated. Burial of the cremains will be in the Miriam Cemetery in Maryville, Missouri at a later date. Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of local arrangements.

WINIFRED “WINNIE” LORTON

MILTON - WINIFRED “WINNIE” LORTON, age 90 of Keosauqua and former Milton resident died November 25, 2005 at the Good Samartian Center in Keosauqua, Iowa. She was born icon December 15, 1914 in Scotland County, Missouri to Roy and Lenora Toops Teter. She married icon Jacob William Lorton July 13, 1933 in Memphis, Missouri. She was a homemaker and had been a clerk at Younkers and Ben Franklin. She was a member of the Milton Christian Church.

She is survived by her husband; a son Gary (Kay) Lorton of Bloomfield, Iowa; a daughter Shirley (Charlie) Gandy of Altoona, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a great granddaughter.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Monday November 28, 2005 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Joanne Schlegel officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Sunday with the family present from 6:00-7:30 PM. A memorial has been established in lieu of flowers to the Van Buren County Good Samartian Center.

GLENN WARD WYATT

BLOOMFIELD - GLENN WARD WYATT, age 86 of Bloomfield died November 24, 2005 at the Davis County Hospital Long Term Care in Bloomfield. He was born icon March 20, 1919 in Lee’s Summit, Missouri to Roger and Almyra Temple Ward Wyatt. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was captured in Africa. He was a Prisoner of War for 2 years, 10 months and 10 days. After marching across Europe he was held at Stalag IIB in Hammerstein, Germany. He married icon Kathleen Hinkle June 29, 1947 in Davis County, Iowa. He had worked in construction and as a carpenter, also running a delivery service in Granite City, Illinois. He was later a farmer, and had lived in Davis County since 1967. He was a member of the Dunnville Baptist Church having served as Deacon and Trustee at different times. He was also a member of the Ancient Free and Acccepted Masons of Triple Lodge 835 of Granite City, Illinois and was a 50 year member.

He is survived by his wife; 4 daughters Linda McManus of Lakewood, Colorado, Diane (Donnie) Herteen of Bloomfield, Iowa, Lois (Loren) Walling of Ione, California and Susan (Michael) Battani of Johnston, Iowa; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and a sister Ruth Reese of St. Charles, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 sisters Lucille Hawkins, Mary Jo Sisk and Lavena Reeder.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Monday November 28, 2005 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Marvin Martin officiating. Burial with graveside military rites by Reed Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion in Bloomfield will be in the Dunnville Cemetery in Davis County, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Sunday with the family present from 2:00-4:00 PM. A memorial has been established to the Dunnville Baptist Church.
