Curt Eason
Mount Ayr - Curt Eason, 45, of Mount Ayr died in a tractor accident July 31, 2003, on the family farm west of Mount Ayr.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, at the United Methodist Church in Mount Ayr. The Rev. Susan Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery near Diagonal. Open visitation will be after 10 a.m. Sunday with family visitation 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr. A memorial has been established in his name.

Mr. Eason, son of Nina A. (Morrison) and James L. Eason, was born icon June 21, 1958, in Mount Ayr. He graduated from Mount Ayr High School in 1976 and Northwest Missouri State University in 1982. On Sept. 15, 1981, he married icon Cindy Lou Barker. On Aug. 21, 1997, he married icon Mary Jane Ehm. He worked for K-Mart from 1982 to 1994 in Creston, St. Joseph, Altis, Okla., Charles City and Ardmore, Okla., and as director of support services at Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr since 1994. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mount Ayr.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Eason of Mount Ayr; four sons, James Curtis Eason, Christopher Roscoe Eason, Kyle Christian Beaman and Korey Nikolaus Beaman, all of Mount Ayr; parents, Jim and Nina Eason of Mount Ayr; parents-in-law, George and Betty Ehm of Greenfield; two brothers, Steve (wife Teresa) Eason of Clarinda and Michael (wife Lori) Eason of Ankeny; a sister, Susan Eason of Kansas City, Mo.; three brothers-in-law, Stephens Ehm of Creston, Paul Ehm of Tennessee and John (wife Theresa) Ehm of Des Moines; three sisters-in-law, Rose (husband Jim) Riggs of Norwalk, Helen (husband Greg) McDowell of Blakesburg and Karen (husband Randy) Hanten of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence and Hazel Morrison and Paul and Beth Eason.

Dane West
Prescott - Dane West, 16, of Prescott died of complications from acute myelogenous leukemia Aug. 6, 2003, at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at the Corning High School Activity Center. The Rev. Dan Siepker, pastor of St. Patrick Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery at Prescott. Open visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday with the family receiving friends 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral Service, 701 Seventh St., Corning. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Dane West, son of Kathy Marie (Moore) and Timothy Edward West, was born icon Dec. 2, 1986, in Corning. He was a student at Corning Community Schools and worked in the concession stand at the Adams County Speedway for a few years. He was a computer technical-support person, built computers and did computer repairs. He was a member of the Prescott Workers 4-H Club, Corning FFA and certified scuba diver.

Survivors include his parents, Tim and Kathy West, brother Taylor West and sister Lara West, all of Prescott; grandparents, John T. and Mary Moore of Kent, Lee and Gloria West of Weatherford, Texas, and Marilyn Biase of Council Bluffs; great-grandmother, Helen King of Cumming; aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Elmer and Marie West, Louis and Kathyrn Moore, Joseph Arthur King and Bertha and Julius Hansen; cousin Brett Schafer; and aunt Misty West.

Drexal Turner
Grinnell - Drexal H. Turner, 69, of Grinnell, formerly of the Creston area, died Aug. 7, 2003, at his home in Grinnell.

Services are pending at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Ave.

Leonard Smith
Blockton - Leonard Smith, 74, of Blockton died Aug. 13, 2003, at his home.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Christian Church in Blockton. The Rev. Scott Marcum will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Blockton. Open visitation will be after 10 a.m. Friday with family present 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr. A memorial has been established in his name.

Mr. Smith, son of Millie (Bentley) and Ralph Smith, was born icon Nov. 29, 1928, in Blockton. He graduated from Blockton High School in 1947. On July 5, 1956, he married icon Sandra J. Byers in Warsaw, Mo.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Smith of Blockton; two children, Ricky (wife Rose) Smith of Creston and Kim (husband Jim) Walker of Council Bluffs; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Martha Rini
Lawrence, Kan. - Martha Wietzkie Vicker Rini, 99, of Lawrence, Kan., formerly of the Nevinville and Cromwell area, died Aug. 6, 2003, in Lawrence, Kan.

No services were held. The Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, 601 Indiana St., Lawrence, Kan., had charge of arrangements.

Survivors include a son, Gary (wife Sonja) Vicker of Lawrence, Kan.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Edward Coolidge
Greenfield - Edward Coolidge, 56, of Greenfield died Thursday, Aug. 21, at Adair County Memorial Hospital in Greenfield.

Services are pending at Steen Funeral Home, 101 S.E. Fourth St., Greenfield.

Demarious Smeltzer
Creston - Demarious M. Smeltzer, 95, of Creston died Aug. 21, 2003, at Creston Nursing and Rehab Center.

Services are pending at Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St.

Beatrice Heckman
Greenfield - Beatrice Arlene (Scholl) Heckman, 82, of Greenfield died Aug. 19, 2003, at Adair County Memorial Hospital in Greenfield.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at Mullen Funeral Home, 1008 W. Main St., Anita. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery at Anita. Visitation will be after noon Friday with the family receiving friends 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home in Anita.

Mrs. Heckman, daughter of Dulcie Arlene (Bills) and William Elmer Scholl, was born icon Sept. 7, 1920, in Atlantic. She graduated from Anita High School and Drake University in 1939 with a degree in music. On May 16, 1942, she married icon Wilbur Henry Heckman Jr. at her parents' home in Adair County.

Survivors include two sons, Mark (wife Rae) Heckman of Cumberland and Max Heckman (fiancee Debbie Moore) of Creston; a daughter-in-law, Kristy Heckman of La Mars, Mo.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

William Gore
Fort Morgan, Colo. - William R. "Bill" Gore, 73, of Fort Morgan, Colo., formerly of Afton, died Aug. 20, 2003, at Fort Collins Health Care Center, Fort Collins, Colo.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at Unity Church of Fort Collins, 1401 W. Vine St., Fort Collins, Colo. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Goes Funeral Care, 3665 Canal Drive, Fort Collins, Colo.

Graveside services and burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25 at the Murray Cemetery.

Mr. Gore, son of Viola and Howard Gore, was born icon May 4, 1930, in Western Springs, Ill. He served in Army Intelligence during the Korean War after serving in the National Guard. He graduated from Colorado A&M; (CSU) in 1954 and worked for the U.S. Forest Service in Roosevelt National Park.

On Oct. 13, 1967, he married icon Pauline Ruth Cook in Trinidad, Colo. He was a dairy cow and milk inspector for the Denver County Health. He was a sanitary engineer in Truckee, Calif. He moved to Sacramento, Calif., where he worked as a health inspector. He also lived in Yreka, Calif. In 1989, he retired from the state of California as an environmental engineer (health inspector) and moved to Afton where he lived until moving to Fort Morgan, Colo., two and one-half years ago. He moved to the Fort Collins Health care in April 2003.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline Gore of Fort Morgan, Colo.; four children, Rick (wife Amber) Gleason of Palisade, Neb., Valori (husband Gabriel) Segura of Cheyenne, Wyo., Jodie (husband Marvin) Lane of Sacramento, Calif., and Sherman (fiancé Tammy Boren) Gore of Orange County, Calif.; a sister, Margaret Mangold of North Granby, Conn.; nine grandchildren, Sarah Bradley, April Gleason, Crystal, Rick and Mark Lane, Ameila Cook, Sammi Fehr, Brooke Romine and Bradley Boren; and three great-grandchildren, Michelle Cook, Alexander Sherman and Paxton Gleason.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Claire Gore.

Margaret Lange
Corning - Margaret Lucille Lange, 86, of Corning died Aug. 20, 2003, at Corning Nursing and Rehab Center.

Services will be held at a later date. The Brooks Funeral Care, 7975 University Blvd., Clive, has charge of arrangements.

She was married icon to William Lange, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include three sons, Charlie (wife Sharon) Lange of Creston, Steve (wife Sharon) Lange of Liberty Hill, Texas, and Joe (wife Wendy) Lange of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Margie Frans of Nashua, N.H.; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
