Velma S. Homann
(February 20, 1928 - September 20, 2011)

Velma S. Homann, 83, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, September 20 at Covenant Medical Center.

She was born icon February 20, 1928 on the farm in Black Hawk County, daughter of Carl and Sarah Doepke Faust.

She married icon Edgar W. Homann December 30, 1945 in Waverly. He died November 5, 2009. Velma was a homemaker.

Survivors include three sons, Loren (Janyce) Homann of Cedar Falls, Ray (Karen) Homann of Hudson and David (Mona) Homann of Waterloo; a daughter, Joyce (Scott) Hancock of Centennial, Colo.; six grandchildren, Tammy Adams, Jim (Deana) Homann, Brock Homann, Tonya (John) Richards, Tricia (Gloria) Homann and Nicole Hancock; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Kendra Homann; a brother, Lorenz Faust and a sister, Edna Hildebrandt.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Memorial Park Chapel, Memorial Park Cemetery, with inurnment in the cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday at Hagarty – Waychoff – Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Madelyn Frost
(April 10, 1923 - September 26, 2011)

Madelyn Mary Frost, 88, died Monday, September 26, in the Martin Center @ The Western Home.

She was born icon April 10, 1923 in Jesup, daughter of Arthur Francis and Anna Welter Youngblut. She married icon Harold Mathias Frost on November 4, 1942. He died October 9, 2000.

Madelyn was an elementary teacher at St. Nicholas and St. John’s Catholic Schools and a daycare provider. She managed the Hat Shop and also worked at Walker’s Shoe Store in Waterloo.

She is survived by two sons, Michael (Jill) of Benton, Ark and Mark of Waterloo; two daughters, Sharon (Dean) Dalrymple of Independence and Sheila(Dave) Frost of Minnesota; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; a brother, James (Lenora) of Jesup; a sister, Shirley (Art) Trebon of Hollywood, Fla.; three sisters-in-law, Pat Youngblut , Donna Youngblut and Lois Youngblut.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Vickie Klein; a sister, Gladys Klunenberg and four brothers, Tom, Cleo, Melvin and Charles.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Raymond. Public visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a Catholic Daughter’s of the America’s rosary at 4 p.m. and a vigil at 7 p.m. Visitation also for an hour before services at the church on Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society, Catholic Daughters of the Americas or Cedar Valley Hospice.

Robert B. McMahon
(August 22, 1926 - September 26, 2011)

Robert “Bob” Bernard McMahon, 85, of Waterloo, died Monday, September 26.

He was born icon August 22, 1926 in rural Greeley, son of Bert and Gertrude Hogan McMahon. He married icon Elizabeth “Betty” Leesekamp May 9, 1953 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church, Cascade.

He was employed as a branch manager for Means Services, retiring in 1989.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Shelly (Dan) Kuchera and three grandchildren, Brenton, Hallie and Eliott Kuchera, all of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by an infant son, two sisters, Helen Burbridge and Kathryn Philipp and two brothers, Martin and Harold McMahon.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at St. Edward Catholic Church, with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Public visitation will be for an hour before services on Friday at the church.

Hagarty – Waychoff – Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Bob was a volunteer at the Waterloo Cemetery and also for RSVP. He was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church, where he ushered for over 40 years

Madeline M. Martin

Madeline M. Martin, 91, of Bloomfield died April 19, 2011, at the Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield.

Graveside services with burial of the cremains will be held at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the Friends of the Bloomfield Public Library and may be mailed to Wagler Funeral Home, 304 W. Jefferson St., Bloomfield, IA 52537

Ermaline Smith

Goldan Ermaline Smith, 83, of Bloomfield died April 19, 2011, at the Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 25, 2011, at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Jeremy McElvain officiating. Burial will be in the West Mount Olive Cemetery east of Hamburg.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday with the family present to greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. A memorial has been established to her family.

Donna Jacobs

Donna Jacobs, 77, of Bloomfield died June 24, 2011, at Lantern Park Nursing and Rehab in Coralville.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday June 28, 2011, at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the Rev. Richard Friend officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Visitation will be open after 9 a.m. Monday with the family present form 5-7 p.m.

A memorial has been established to the University of Iowa Foundation Alzheimers Disease Research Center.

Juanita Nalley

Juanita Nalley, 83 of Bloomfield died June 25, 2011, at the Davis County Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Donna Olinger officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Visitation will be open after 12:30 p.m. Tuesday with the family present from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorials have been established to the American Heart Association and St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital.

Kay Tews

Kay Leslie (Frymier) Tews, 59, of Bloomfield died in her home the morning of Friday, July 22, 2011.

A Remembrance Service will be held on Tuesday, July 26 at 6:15 p.m. at Bloomfield United Methodist Church in Bloomfield. Visitation will be held one hour before the service. The body has been cremated.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Friends of the Bloomfield Public Library or United Way.

Ida Mae Horn

Ida Mae Horn, 91, of Bloomfield died Thursday at the Bloomfield Care Center.

A funeral service will be held at the Bloomfield Christian Church at 11 a.m. Tuesday with burial in the IOOF Cemetery, Pastor Jack Knox officiating.

Visitation will open at 4 p.m. Monday at the Bloomfield Christian Church with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Bloomfield Christian Church or Dollars for Scholars.

Memphis Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Ritzanna Warning

A celebration of life will be held for family and friends of Ritzanna Warning at the Bloomfield United Methodist Church Saturday, Sept. 3, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Kevin Gingerich officiating.

She died May 2, 2011, at her home in Hollister, Mo.

Dorothy E. Roberts

Dorothy E. Roberts, 92, formerly of Milton, died Sept. 23, 2011 at the Davis County Hospital Long Term Care Unit.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011 at the Milton Christian Church conducted by Justin DeVries. Burial will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton.

Visitation will open at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua with the family present from 5-7 p.m.

A memorial has been established to the Davis County Hospital Long Term Care Unit and may be left at the funeral home or church or mailed to the family at 55209 North Demoss Road, Benton City, WA 99320

Catherine Arlene Yoder

Catherine Arlene Yoder, 25, of Bloomfield died Sept. 26, 2011 at the Davis County Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2011 at the Pulaski Mennonite Church with Pastor Darrell Zook officiating. Burial will be in the Pulaski Cemetery.

Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Thursday with the family present to greet friends from 5-7 p.m. at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Memorials have been established to her family and her sons education fund.
