Fannie A. Lubben, 88, of Manchester died Wednesday morning, August 11, 2004 at the Cedar Valley Hospice in Waterloo after a short illness.

Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 16, 2004 at the Manchester Gospel Hall. Friends may call from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester and for an hour before services on Monday at the Gospel Hall. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Manchester.

Fannie was born icon on July 2, 1916 to Albert and Anna (Van Horn) Kampman on a farm near Hansell, Iowa in Franklin County. She attended rural schools in Butler County. Fannie was saved on August 22, 1933. She was baptized and gathered into the fellowship of the believers at Hitesville, Iowa. On January 17, 1948, Fannie married icon Ben Lubben of Manchester. The couple lived all their married icon life in Manchester. After her marriage, she gathered with the Christians at Manchester until her death. Fannie’s life centered around the Assembly. She was a homemaker and enjoyed entertaining, gardening and sewing. Many of the Lord’s servants were entertained in Ben and Fannie’s home.

Fannie is survived by her daughters, Geneva (Bruce) Collins of Waterloo, and Joyce Lubben of Janesville, WI; four grandchildren, Melissa (Francis) Abeywardane of Lexington, KY, Rachel Collins of Long Beach, CA, and Cedric Collins & Megan Collins both of Ames; a great grandson, Jeron Abeywardane; one brother, Albert Kampman of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Alma Studnicka of Blue River, WI, Margaret Asche of Parkersburg and Anne Kampman of Waterloo; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and sister-in-laws.

Fannie was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Lubben, on July 14, 1984; her parents, Albert & Anna Kampman; four brothers, Chris, Willie, Harvie and Robert Kampman; and one sister, Arlene Gentz.

David M. Ealy
Born in Kozta, Iowa on Sep. 26, 1935
Died Aug. 9, 2004 and resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

David M. Ealy, 68, of 4116 Falbrook Drive N.E., Cedar Rapids, died Monday, August 9, 2004, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a sudden illness. Services: 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 13, 2004, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church by Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer and Rev. Harlan Gillespie. Family will greet friends from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, August 12, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, at a later date.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Emrieanne; his children, Kyle Ealy and Karin Ealy and husband Glenn Kieler, all of Cedar Rapids; a special son, Greg Knotts and wife Kathy of Humble, Texas; fourteen grandchildren, Corey Ealy and wife Amy of Cedar Falls, Casey Ealy and fiancé, Emily; Kendy Hindahl and husband Nick and Stephen Kieler, all of Cedar Rapids, Carol and Dawn Kieler of Independence, Michael Kennington and wife Amanda of Baytown, Texas, Ryan Kennington of Channelview, Texas, Alan and Austin Knotts of Humble, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Kaelyn, Cade and Kylei Ealy of Cedar Falls and Addison Kennington of Channelview, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Fran Ealy of LaPorte City; his mother, Marie Ealy of Belle Plaine; two sisters, Eunice Reed of Cedar Rapids and Sandra Wickwire and husband Alan of Belle Plaine; many nieces and nephews; and his pet ferret, Coco.

He was preceded in death by his father, Milo Ealy; a son, Kevin M. Ealy; a brother-in-law, Louie Reed; and his pet ferrets, Sam, Chunk, Bernard, Bianca, Taylor, Norman, Gus, Mollie, Lady, Baby, Maggie, Maggie II, and Susie.

David was born icon September 26, 1935, the son of Milo and Marie (Butterfield) Ealy in Kozta, Iowa. On November 23, 1957, he married icon Emrieanne “Emrie” Usher in the Little Brown Church. He owned and operated Ealy Property Management in Cedar Rapids. David was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church for 36 years and was on the Property Committee, drove a van for the elderly and a bus for the youth for 25 years and was an usher. He was a member of the Greater Cedar Rapids Homebuilder’s Association for 23 years where he was in the Hall of Fame, twice voted Associate of the Year and served as Secretary. He was on the Nominating Committee, the Executive Board and was the local Associate Representative to the National Association Board. He served on the State Homebuilder’s Association where he was also voted “Associate of the Year.” He was on the Nominating Committee, Executive Board, Scholarship Board and was the state Associate Representative to the National Board. David served on the National Homebuilder’s Association Board of Directors, Board of Appeals for the City of Cedar Rapids Housing Department, was a member of the Republican Party and donated blood at St. Luke’s Hospital.

He was the best husband, father and grandfather “Papa” in the world. So many were blessed to have him in their lives. He will leave many sad hearts as well as many cherished memories. We thank the lord for placing him in our little corner of the world and touching all of us. We love you David!

A memorial fund has been established in David'’s memory.

Elsie A. Sherbon
Born in Lafayette, Iowa on Apr. 14, 1922
Died Aug. 10, 2004 and resided in Walker, IA.

Elsie A. Sherbon, 82, a longtime resident of Walker, died Tuesday, August 10, 2004, at the Crestview Care Center, Marion, following a lengthy illness. Services: 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 12, 2004, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Walker, by Father Gabriel Anderson. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, August 11, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Walker. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Walker.

She is survived by two children, Margaret Sauer and husband Edwin of Shellsburg, and Shirley Sauer and husband Don of Walker; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and a brother, Frank Chrisman of St. Elizabeth, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; her parents; an infant son, Francis Jr.; and three sisters, Gladys Edaburn, Mildred Lohf and Ruby Chrisman; two brothers, Clifford Chrisman and John Chrisman.

Elsie was born icon April 14, 1922, the daughter of John and Nancy E. (Matheny) Chrisman, in Lafayette, Iowa. On July 3, 1947, she married icon Francis J. Sherbon. He passed away on December 29, 1986. Elsie enjoyed being a homemaker and gardening.

A memorial fund has been established in memory of Elsie.

Douglas Lee Engbretson
Born in Decorah, Iowa on Jul. 28, 1958
Died Aug. 9, 2004 and resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Douglas Lee Engbretson, 46, of 1332 9th St. NW, Cedar Rapids, died of stomach cancer Monday, August 9, 2004, in his home. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 12, 2004, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha, by the Rev. Daniel Krueger. Friends may call from 4 – 8 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial: Shiloh Cemetery, Hiawatha.

Survivors include his wife, Shawn; his children, Richard and Erica, both at home; his mother, Dorothy Rockett of Cedar Rapids; his father, Robert Engbretson of Marion; a brother, Steve Engbretson and wife LuAnn of Belle Plaine; three sisters, Cathy Engbretson of Cedar Rapids, Robyn Grapes and husband Rick of Cedar Rapids and Tracy Comstock and husband Pat of Hiawatha; his mother-in-law, Linda Toyne and Mike Burhite of Amana; his father-in-law, David Toyne and wife Nancy of Tujunga, California; and several other loving family members.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Almeda Barth and Elmer and Eva Engbretson; and several aunts and uncles.

Doug was born icon July 28, 1958, the son of Robert and Dorothy (Macal) Engbretson in Decorah, Iowa. On June 17, 2000, he married icon Shawn Toyne. Doug worked for the City of Cedar Rapids Street Department. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha.

A memorial fund has been established for the children'’s education fund.

Mary Louise Collins
Born in Mineral Point, Wisconsin on Mar. 25, 1927
Died Aug. 8, 2004 and resided in Marion, IA.

Mary Louise Collins, 77, of 365 Marion Blvd., died Sunday, August 8, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center, following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2004, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion by Rev. John Gossman. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion where a rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include her daughter, Molly Ferrin and husband Dean of Marshalltown; her son, Patrick R. Collins and wife Elaine of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Rev. John Gallagher of Dubuque; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Raymond Gallagher and Thomas C. Gallagher.

Mary was born icon March 25, 1927, the daughter of Raymond J. and Bridget E. (Ryan) Gallagher in Mineral Point, Wisconsin. She graduated from Marion High School in 1945 and from Mercy School of Nursing in 1948. On August 26, 1950, she married icon Michael P. Collins, Jr. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. He died March 4, 1996.

Mary was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion, Mt. Mercy Alumni Association and Mercy Hospital Auxiliary.

Alice L. Hough
Born in West Bend, Iowa on Jul. 17, 1927
Died Aug. 5, 2004 and resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Alice L. Hough, 77, of Center Point, died Thursday, August 5, 2004, at Lakewood Health Care Center, Hamburg, New York, after lengthy illness with dementia. Services: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 21, 2004, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Walker. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point.

She is survived by her children, Rosemary of Florida, Bob (Judy) of London, England, Pat (Vicki) of Iowa, Nancy (Leo) of New York, Madonna (Randy) of Illinois, Susie (Mark) of Missouri, Jody (Ron) of Ohio and Laura (David) of New York; her brothers and sisters, Ray (Barb), John “Boots” (Sheryl), Mary (Archie), Jennie Rose, Margie; her grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and her son, David.

Alice was born icon to Raymond T. and Myrtle E. (Fay) Schumacher in West Bend, Iowa. A long time resident of Center Point, she enjoyed flowers, nature, astronomy, her children and grandchildren. Alice was a registered nurse in Pediatrics at St. Luke’s Hospital and was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for many years.

No flowers please. Instead memorials may be made in her name to the Center Point-Urbana Schools.

Daniel A. Schrock
Born in Shelbyville, Illinois on Jan. 13, 1925
Died Aug. 5, 2004 and resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Daniel A. Schrock, 79, of 2628 12th Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, August 5, 2004, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City, following a sudden illness. Services: 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 9, 2004, at First Church of Nazarene, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Timothy W. Carter. Friends may call from 4-6 p.m., Sunday, August 8, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. Inurnment: Linwood Mausoleum, Cedar Rapids.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; his children, Dianne (Dean) Haynes of Olathe, Kansas City, David Schrock of Lewisville, Texas and Dean (Ruth) Schrock of Vancouver, Washington; three grandchildren, Julianna, Stephanie and Danielle Haynes; his brothers, Ervin Schrock of Wellman, Elmer Schrock of Wayland, Howard (Willeane) Schrock of Medina, Ohio, Jacob Schrock of Kalona; his sisters, Mabel McKittrick of Terra Haute, Indiana, Bessie Swartzendruber of Iowa City, Bertha Miller of Mode, Illinois, Lillie (C.C.) Thomas of Fayettesville, North Carolina, and Esther (Art) Tidy and Lydia (Dwight) Ann Kennel, both of Monmouth, Oregon; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Schrock of Shelbyville, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Raymond, Edwin, John and Fred.

Daniel was born icon January 13, 1925, the son of Dan W. and Anna (Roth) Schrock in Shelbyville, Illinois. He attended Grace College in Omaha, Nebraska, received his THB at Bob Jones University, Greenville, South Carolina and his BD at Trinity Seminary in Chicago. On August 18, 1955, he married icon Jeanette Ingbrigtsen in Gladstone, Michigan. Daniel worked at Pennick Ford in the Starch Department for 18 years. He enjoyed gardening, planting trees and reading.

Memorials may be directed to the First Church of Nazarene in Daniel'’s memory.

Bernita M. Roseberry
Born in Rual Alice on Apr. 18, 1918
Died Aug. 4, 2004 and resided in Center Point, IA.

Bernita “Granny” Roseberry, 86, of Center Point, died Wednesday, August 4, 2004, in her home from cancer with her family at her side. Services to celebrate Bernita’s life will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 9, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point by Rev. Ken Glandorf. Friends may call from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, August 8, 2004, at the funeral home. Burial: Center Point Cemetery, Center Point.

Bernita was born icon April 18, 1918, the daughter of Fred and Ethel Simmen, in rural Alice. She married icon Paul Roseberry on June 6, 1947.

She is survived by five children, Vernon (Velma) Roseberry, Fredrick (Joyce) Cress both of Center Point, Janette (Don) Rhodes of Brandon, Michael (Priscillia) Roseberry of Central City, and David (Sandy) Roseberry of Roscoe, Illinois; 24 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul; a daughter, Shirley; three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

Memorials may be directed to Mercy Hospital Hospice.

Donna Mae Courtney
Born in Delhi, Iowa on Dec. 13, 1919
Died Aug. 3, 2004 and resided in Delhi, IA.

Donna Mae Courtney, 84, Delhi, Iowa, died Tuesday evening, August 3, 2004 at the Good Neighbor Home, Manchester after a sudden illness.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 6 at the Delhi United Methodist Church by Rev. Julie A. May. Friends may call from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Manchester and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Delhi.

Donna was born icon on December 13, 1919 the daughter of Parden E. and Mae (Smith) Keith near Buck Creek. She graduated from Delhi High School then attended Nebraska State Teachers College in Wayne, Nebraska and earned her BA degree from Upper Iowa University in Fayette. On May 25, 1942 Donna was united in marriage to E. Glen Courtney in San Diego, California. Donna taught school for twenty-three years in the Quasqueton, Rowley and Maquoketa Valley districts. She worked as the Activity Coordinator at the Delaware County Care Facility (now the Penn Center) and volunteered in the Adult Literacy Program.

Donna was a member of the Delhi United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Hannah Circle. She enjoyed traveling in most of the United States, Canada and Mexico. Her interests included photography, scrap booking, genealogy and studying the bible.

Donna is survived by her son, RK Keith Courtney and his wife, Bu Wilson of Iowa City; a grandson, Nathaniel Courtney and daughter-in-law, Lois Courtney of Portland, OR; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glen Courtney on June 21, 1991; a son, Curtis Courtney on May 7, 1993; and two brothers, Robert and Maurice Keith.
