Donna Foulkes

WEST BURLINGTON - Donna Foulkes, 62, of West Burlington, and formerly of Keokuk, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, in the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City.
She was born
on June 13, 1942, in Keokuk, the daughter of Basil and Darlene Krumm Huston.
On Aug. 18, 1961, she was united in marriage to Gary Foulkes in Keokuk. He survives.
Additional survivors include: her mother, Darlene Clippert and her husband, Keith, of Keokuk; a brother, Kent Clippert and his wife, June, of Montrose; two sisters, Lori Hagey and her husband, Buck, of Washington, Ill., and Joni Knee and her husband, Richard, of Buford, Mo.; a special cousin, Barbara Conover of Burlington; a niece and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father; her grandparents; and a niece, Tonya Bigelow.
She graduated from Keokuk High School in 1960. She moved to Burlington in 1963 and had been employed by Case as a computer analyst for 38 years, retiring in 2002. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed collecting Precious Moments and Seraphim Angels and loved to do ceramics. She owned her own kiln and molds and had made and painted many beautiful ceramic projects.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, with the Rev. Bill Olmsted officiating.
Burial will be in Keokuk National Cemetery.
Visitation is after 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with family meeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
James Oliver Younggren
July 12, 1916 - Dec. 18, 2004
COCOA BEACH, Fla. - James Oliver Younggren, 88, of Cocoa Beach, Fla., and formerly of Keokuk, died Dec. 18, 2004, in Wuesthoff Hospice Care Center.
He was born
on July 12, 1916, in Burnside, Iowa, the son of Noble O. and Mazie Bakley Younggren.
He married
Eleanor Matilda Shaw on Sept. 19, 1938, in Bakersfield, Calif. She survives.
He graduated from Boone High School in 1934. He attended Simpson College. He served in the United States Navy as a fire control operator from 1944 to 1946 in the USS Keokuk.
He was in the shoe business for 40 years and owned a family shoe store in Keokuk. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, president of the Rotary club and an avid golfer.
He and his wife retired to Cocoa Beach where they have been active members in their church, the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection.
Additional survivors include: three sons, Thomas C. and his wife, Liz, of Boulder City, Nev., Mark R. and his wife, Pam, of Springfield, Ill., and David J. and his wife, Debbie, of Cherry Hills Village, Colo.; a sister, Mary Kelley of Lincoln, Neb.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers preceded him in death.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Fund, Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 525 Minutemen Causeway, Cocoa Beach, FL 32931 or to a charity of the donors choice.

Virginia B. (Brannock) Baker
Sept. 1, 1918 - Dec. 21, 2004
Virginia B. (Brannock) Baker, 86, of Keokuk, died at 12:50 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, in Keokuk Area Hospital.
She was born
on Sept. 1, 1918, in Red Oak, the daughter of Howard and Cecil Reimers Brannock.
She married
Fred Baker in 1962. He preceded her in death in 1974.
She had lived in Keokuk since October 2001 after moving from Falls Church, Va. She had spent most of her adult life in the Washington, D.C., area, coming to D.C. during the war years in the 1940s. She had worked in a number of government offices including the Pentagon and the House Ways and Means Committee. Later on, she and her husband owned and operated Sterling Moving & Storage Company in Falls Church as Wheaton Van Lines operators.
She was an active member of the Resurrection Lutheran Church in Arlington, the Falls Church Lions and Lioness Clubs, and was a long time volunteer and patron of the Kennedy Center.
Survivors include: a sister, Lillian Brannock Sutlive of Keokuk; two nephews, B. Howard "Howie" Sutlive and his wife, Amy, of Keokuk, and Charles L."Lindy" Baker and his wife, Evelyn, of Vienna, Va.; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews in Iowa and Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her parents of Red Oak; her husband Fred; and aunts and uncles of the Reimers family also of Red Oak.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak.
Burial will follow the service.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of the graveside service in Red Oak.
There will be no local visitation or service.

Marilyn L. Dains
Sept. 29, 1937 - Dec. 30, 2004
DONNELLSON - Marilyn L. Dains, 67, of Donnellson, died at 9:45 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, in Fort Madison Community Hospital.
She was born
on Sept. 29, 1937, in Keokuk, the daughter of William Norder and Gladys Arnold.
She married
Lester Martin in 1956. She later married
William E. Dains on Dec. 21, 1985, in Keokuk. He survives.
She was a 1956 graduate of Montrose High School.
She owned and operated MB Ceramics in Donnellson for many years.
Additional survivors include: a son, John Martin, and his wife, Laura, of Donnellson, and their sons, Jeremy Martin and his wife, Allison, and Sheldon Martin; a stepson, William Dains and his wife, Cindy, of Donnellson, and their children Tonya Harvey and her husband, Leonard, and Seth Dains; a brother, Gary Norder and his wife, Carolyn, of Texas; a daughter, Theresa Wall and her children, Laramie and Annie; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Lester.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at New Testament Christian Church, Keokuk, with Bro. Bill Hauser officiating.
The family will meet with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Hofbauer-Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Keokuk.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
Craig L. Potter
Feb.23, 1966 - Jan. 8, 2005
FORT MADISON - Craig L. Potter, 38, of rural Fort Madison, died at 2:02 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, in his home east of West Point.
He was born
on Feb. 23, 1966, in Springfield, Minn., the son of Larry and Ruth Polkow Potter.
He married
Theresa A. Welch on April 8, 2000, in the Argyle Presbyterian Church. She survives.
He had been a resident of the West Point area for the past five years.
He was a superintendent of First Construction Group of Burlington.
He was a member of the Church of Nazarene of Montrose.
He enjoyed horseback riding.
Additional survivors include: a daughter, Violet Ruth Ann Potter, at home; a stepson, Nicholas Craig Weirather at home; two stepdaughters, Katelyn Weirather at home, and Ivy Weirather, also at home; a son: Alexander Potter of Biggsville, Ill.; his parents of Springfield; a brother, Cory Potter of Glencoe, Minn.; a sister, Cristy Potter of West Point; paternal grandmother, Mildred Potter; and his father-in-law, Ron Welch of Argyle.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and paternal grandfather.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. today, with family meeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Link Funeral Home in West Point. A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Shimek State Forest, Farmington, with the Revs. Preston Smith and John Hayes officiating. Family will meet friends at the funeral home at 10 a.m. before departure to Farmington.
Burial will be in Thompson Cemetery, Bonaparte.
Memorials may be made to his daughter, Violet.
Robert Gerald Jerry Hawkins

MOUNT PLEASANT - Robert Gerald "Jerry" Hawkins, 84, of Mount Pleasant, and formerly of Keokuk, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, in the Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.
He was born
on Jan. 16, 1920, in Keokuk, the son of Frank W. and Bessie Bennett Hawkins.
He was united in marriage to Doris E. Hagmeier on Jan. 24, 1942, in Palmyra, Mo.
He had lived in Keokuk until 1986 when he moved to Mount Pleasant to be closer to his children. He was a finish carpenter by trade. After his retirement in 1982, he worked at the Pep Stop gas station in Mount Pleasant for 10 years.
He loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and treasured the times he spent with his family.
Survivors include: his wife, Doris, of Mount Pleasant; a daughter, Bonita Green of Olds; a son, Kenneth Hawkins and his wife, Kathy, of Salem; a brother, Herbert Hawkins of Keokuk; six grandchildren, Robert Canby and his wife, Barb, Rochelle Fulcher and her husband, Mark, Jeffery Hawkins and his wife, Robin, Richard Canby and his wife, Jenn, Clint Hawkins and his wife, Laurie, and Angela Gibson and her husband, Dan; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Teddy; two sisters, Lula McLaughlin, and Lenore Hawkins; two sons-in-law, Rodger Canby and Bill Green; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m Tuesday at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, with Bro. Bill Hauser officiating.
Burial will be in Sandusky Cemetery, rural Keokuk.
Visitation is today at the funeral home, with the family meeting with friends from 7 to 9 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Henry County Dialysis in Mount Pleasant.
O. Lucille Myers
May 15, 1912 - Jan. 7, 2005
O. Lucille Myers, 92, of Keokuk, and formerly of Creve Coeur, Ill., died at 12:35 p.m., Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, in Lexington Square, Keokuk.
She was born
on May 15, 1912, in rural Shelby County, Ill., to William and Clara Pierson Clark.
She married
Ross H. Myers on Nov. 25, 1933, in Strasburg, Ill. He died on Dec. 13, 1984, in Springfield, Ill. She later married
G.R. Beck in November 1988 in Keokuk. He has preceded her in death.
Survivors include: a son, Larry Myers and his wife, Mary, of Kahoka, Mo.; three grandchildren, Kyle Myers of East Peoria, Ill., Kent Myers and his wife, Tammy, of Keokuk, and Kathy Huls and her husband, Eric, of Hamilton, Ill.; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Sheffield of Dixon, Tenn.
She also was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Cody Myers; three brothers; and a sister.
She had worked in the cafeteria at East Peoria High School for many years.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Creve Coeur, where she played in the "Tea Pot Band."
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Clover Leaf Chapter 1102 in East Peoria, Ill.
She enjoyed baking and playing cards.
Funeral services were held this morning at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur chapel, with the Rev. David Lynn officiating.
Visitation was one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Burial was in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
