James White
James J. White, 78, of LaHarpe, Ill., died at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at University Hospitals in Iowa City.
Born May 16, 1922, in Ferris, Ill., he was the son of Jarvel and Ruby Sea White. On Jan. 26, 1973, he married Marilyn Wilcox near Blandinsville, Ill.
Mr. White attended schools in LaHarpe. He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving from 1942 until 1946. In 1950, he and his uncle, George Sea, went into business building cabinets in Terre Haute, Ind.
Following his uncle's retirement, he moved the business to LaHarpe, where he continued building cabinets until he retired in 1984.
He was a member of Old Bedford Church and attended LaHarpe United Methodist Church. He loved to travel and play pool, and had spent many winters in Texas.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kathy Stevens of Ocean Springs, Miss., and Tammy Rupp of Quincy, Ill.; one stepson, Donald Wilcox of Richland, Mo.; four grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; and two foster grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and an infant brother.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. today and on Friday until the time of service at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe.
The funeral for Mr. White will be 2 p.m. Friday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Brooks and Tony Newton officiating.
Burial will be with military rites in LaHarpe Cemetery
in LaHarpe.
Memorials have been established for LaHarpe United Methodist Church and LaHarpe Ambulance Service.
Charles Fricke Jr.
Charles Fricke Jr., 81, of Mount Union, died Monday, April 30, 2001, at Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield.
Born June 16, 1919, in Mount Union, he was the son of Charles and Crystal Pearl Simonson Fricke. He married Ella Mae Perrenoud on July 17, 1940, in Nashua. She died Aug. 7, 1996.
Mr. Fricke was a graduate of Mount Union High School and attended Parsons College in Fairfield. He farmed in the Mount Union community for most of his life.
He was a member of Good Faith Masonic Lodge 235 of Winfield, the Mount Union United Methodist Church, a former board member of the Mount Union Co-op and Mount Union School Board. He was a former Boy Scout leader and was active with Midwest Old Threshers.
Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Davis of rural Salem; one son, Jerry Fricke of Winfield; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one great-granddaughter and two brothers.
Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday, May 9 at Honts Funeral Home in Winfield, where a Masonic service will be at 6:30 p.m., with family visitation to follow until 8:30 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Fricke will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 10, at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Sheridan Cemetery , west of Mount Union.
Memorials have been established for his church, Midwest Old Threshers Foundation and Sunrise Terrace Care Center.
Susie Mason
Susie Margie Mason, 72, of 1505 Missouri Ave., Keokuk, died at 9:35 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at Mercy Hospital in Centerville.
Born Jan. 28, 1929, in Leachville, Ark., she was the daughter of Harry and Edith Hamilton Pennington.
She married Herman Mason in 1947.
Mrs. Mason was a lifelong resident of Keokuk.
She worked in production at Swift & Co. and later as a waitress.
She was a member of the Salvation Army Church, the Home League and was an avid bingo player.
Survivors include eight sons, Rodney Mason of Unionville, Mo., Darrell, Frank and Jimmy Mason, all of Keokuk, Oscar and Trell Mason, both of Centerville, Stanley Mason of Glenwood and Terry Mason of Oskaloosa; four daughters, Nancy Benge and Linda Guymon, both of Keokuk, Alice Mason of Hannibal, Mo., and Vickie Bakalar of Oskaloosa; one brother, Frank Pennington of Kingston; one sister, Betty Davidson of Kahoka, Mo.; 29 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, six brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today at DeJong's Funeral Home in Keokuk, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Mason will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Christopher David officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery
in Keokuk.
Alfred Whittlesey
Alfred A. Whittlesey, 90, formerly of Gladstone, Ill., died Monday, July 2, 2001, at the home of his daughter in Upland, Calif. Arrangements are pending at Turnbull Funeral Home in Biggsville, Ill.
Marcella Sinift
Marcelle Faye Sinift, 85, of Watertown, S.D., died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, in Watertown.
Born July 6, 1916, in Woodburn, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Jessie Clark Marquis. She married Maurice L. Sinift on Sept. 4, 1937, in Indianola. He died in 1990.
Mrs. Sinift and her husband lived in various communities, including St. Paul, Minn., Cedar Rapids and Burlington. She moved to Watertown in 1995. She was a homemaker.
She enjoyed crocheting, baking, watching world events and spending time with her family. She was a member of Ninth Avenue United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son, Maurice James "Jim" Sinift of Chicago; one daughter, Karen Fishman of Watertown; one daughter-in-law; and five grandchildren.
There will be no visitation.
The memorial service for Mrs. Sinift will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Wight and Fox Funeral Chapel in Watertown, with the Rev. Roger Spahr officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Center.
Wayne Davidson
Wayne E. Davidson, 71, of Donnellson, died Friday afternoon, Jan. 4, 2001, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant. Arrangements are pending at Hofbauer Funeral Home in Donnellson.
Lawrence Bausch
Lawrence Jarrold Bausch, 50, of Odessa Residential Facility in Wapello, died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, from complications following surgery.
Born Aug. 6, 1950, in Washington, Iowa, he was the son of Stephen and Mae Adeline Male Bausch.
Mr. Bausch had worked at Cross Roads in Muscatine. He loved music, the state of Iowa, pizza, Pepsi, working with his hands, going shopping, going to church and singing.
Survivors include seven brothers, Ronald of Golden, Colo., Douglas of Moline, Ill., Lester and Gary, both of Columbus Junction, Stephen of Coralville, Phillip of Winona Lake, Ind., and his twin, Jarrold Lawrence of Jewitt City, Conn.; six sisters, Hope Niffenegger of Louisville, Colo., Ruth McConnel of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Joyce Johnson of Azle, Texas, Carol Chatfield of Columbus Junction, Marilyn Percy of Sebring, Fla., and Susan Sturgis of Harrisonville, N.J.; his stepmother, Sally Bausch of Columbia Station, Ohio; two stepbrothers, Donald Duffy of Hampton, Ill., and Ralph Duffy of Columbia Station, Ohio.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home in Columbus Junction.
The funeral for Mr. Bausch will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Columbus City Cemetery.

Thaine Metternich
Thaine A. Metternich 83, of the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, Ill., died at 12:44 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2001, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Lamporte Funeral Home in Hamilton, Ill.
Arthur "Tiny" Drinkall
Arthur "Tiny" Lee Drinkall was born November 6, 1944, in Burlington, Iowa. He was the son of Edward and Jennie Bazel Drinkall. Arthur died on August 3rd, 2001, at 4:40 A.M. at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa, after a lengthy illness.
He is survived by his wife and inspiration, Betty Drinkall at home; one daughter, Dawn Gilbert and her husband Dean of Burlington; one grandson, Rhyian Hall of Hastings, Iowa; his mother, Jennie Drinkall of Burlington; six stepdaughters, JoAnna Foster of Burlington, Pam Reinig and husband Mark of Ames, Rebecca Smith of Euless, Texas, Mary Latuska and husband Arnie of Cedar Rapids, Becky Blackwell-Cooper and husband David of Seattle, Washington, Brenda Blackwell of Burlington; one stepson, Harold Jagerson and wife Susan of Junction City, Kansas; 20 stepgrandchildren; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren; many special friends, including Michael Gibson of Burlington, Justin Adams of Burlington, Don and Linda Norton of Burlington, Randy Magnuson and family of Burlington, and David Martin of Euless, Texas, and all his Brothers of The Chosen Few Motorcycle Club, past and present.
His father, Edward Drinkall, preceded him in death.
Arthur married Betty Jo Blackwell on May 19, 1979, in Burlington. He worked for Modern Welding and for Paul Beckman Farms of Sperry for many years. Arthur was widely known for his knowledge and skill as a Harley Davidson rider and mechanic. He was a lifelong member of The Chosen Few Motorcycle Club, joining in 1971.
His great joy was helping others and was fondly known to many as "Tiny." He held great joy in being a husband, father and grandfather, which extended to every child he met.
For many years he organized a prison run to ISP in Fort Madison carrying the message of freedom to those brothers locked down.
He was a great supporter of "Toys for Tots," Toy runs, and "The American Brotherhood Against Totalitarian Enactments." He was at his best when working on, riding and talking about Harley Davidson Motorcycles. He was a true biker, brother and friend. May we all see him in the wind!

Leitha Walker
Leitha Mills Walker, 54, of Keokuk, died at 12:02 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, at University Hospitals in Iowa City. Funeral arrangements are pending at DeJong's Funeral Home in Keokuk.
Bill Fort
Bill Fort, 70, of Pleasantville, died of cancer Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
He was born in Shamrock, Mo., and raised in Henry County.
He lived in Mount Pleasant before moving to Knoxville in 1959 and then to Pleasantville in 1964. He was a member of the Lions Club and St. Paul's United Meth-odist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Gracie; two sons, William Fort of Woodbury, Minn., and Randy Fort of Knoxville; two daughters, Lin-da Brons of Northglenn, Colo., and Lisa Carter of Powell, Wyo.; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his mother, Geneva of Wayland; and three brothers, George Fort of Wayland, Jim Fort of Washington, Iowa, and Ronnie Fort of Central City.
Visitation will begin after 10 a.m. today at Mason Funeral Home in Pleasantville, where the family will receive friends from 3 until 5 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Fort will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Mason Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery , near Knoxville.
A memorial has been established for St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
John Monnier
John Monnier, 81, a lifelong resident of the Basco, Ill., area, died about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at Montebello Health Care Center. Arrangements are pending at Lamporte Funeral Home in Carthage, Ill.
Shirley Hester
Shirley J. Hester, 66, of Warsaw, Ill., died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, at her home.
Born March 9, 1935, in Warsaw, she was the daughter of Orville and Goldie Finton Henkle. On March 20, 1965, she married Duane "Dew" Hester in Warsaw.
Mrs. Hester retired from Keokuk Area Hospital. She was instrumental in establishing the psychiatric department.
She was a lifelong resident of Warsaw and attended Warsaw schools, graduating in 1953. She served in the Army Nursing Corps. She loved flowers, traveling, fishing and spending winters in Texas.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Sally Haylock of Hebron, Ill.; and one son, Kurt Hester of Warsaw.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will begin after 3 p.m. Tuesday at Lamporte Funeral Home in Warsaw, where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m.
The body of Mrs. Hester has been cremated. A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Moss Ridge Cemetery
in Carthage, with the Rev. Donna Harris officiating.
