Hiram 'Ed' Musser, 66, 4525 Westchester Dr. NE died suddenly at his home Thursday November 22, 2001. His family will be gathering to greet people from 4 to 7 PM Monday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. His body will be cremated.
Surviving in addition to his wife Mary Lou; are two daughters, Janine Musser of Cedar Rapids and Julie Allen and husband Jim of Jupiter, FL; a son, Herbert Musser of Swisher; one grandson; and three sisters, Tillie Albertson of Evansdale, Arlene Geesaman of Cedar Rapids and Darlene Vurrell of Ft. Smith, AK.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ed was born July 3, 1935 in Iowa City the beloved son of Ervin and Emma Corn Musser. He married
Mary Lou Klopp on September 1, 1961 in Cedar Rapids. Ed was a printing pressman at Service Press and Litho for over 44 years until his retirement. He was a member of Central Park Presbyterian Church, the Graphics Communication International Union Local #M157 and served in the U.S. Army.

Dallas Abernathy, 93, of 1535 6th Ave SE, died Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at home following a long illness. Services at 11 AM Friday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Dr. James H. Survivors include his wife of 71 and a half years Rose “LaVerne”, a daughter Margery Alderman of Cedar Rapids, four grandchildren, Richard Alderman II of Cedar Rapids, Ronald Alderman and wife Marlene of Dallas, Texas, Diane Abernathy of Columbus, Ohio, and Jord Tanner and wife Kelly of Kelowna, Canada, and seven great-grandchildren, Jamaal Allison, Leila Alderman, Elisa Alderman, John Dallas Alderman, Kirsten Tanner, and twin great-granddaughters Emma and Mia Tanner. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Gary Dallas Abernathy, five brothers, one sister, three half sisters, and three half brothers.
Dallas was born August 10, 1910, in rural Benton county, Iowa, to Jacob and Emma Van Dyke Abernathy. He married
Rose “LaVerne” Dixon on October 1, 1932 in Vinton, Iowa. Dallas was a welder at Link Belt/FMC for 24 years and after retirement worked at the Guaranty Bank and Trust for 9 years. He was a member, trustee, and deacon at First Christian Church, and also a member of the FMC retirees.

Steven R. Blankenburg, 42, of 149 Cedar Dr., Marion, died Tuesday, December 4, 2001, in his home after a long struggle with complications of diabetes. Services at 10:30 AM Friday in Faith Lutheran Church in Marion. Rev. John Albertson and Rev. Mark Hasty will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Survivors include his parents, Arley and Darlene Blankenburg of Marion, a son Travis of Toledo, Iowa, and a brother Robert of Marion.
Steven was born July 11, 1959, in Highland Park, Illinois to Arley and Darlene Ross Blankenburg. He graduated from Linn Mar High School in 1977 where he had participated in music and drama. He then attended Coe College and the University of Iowa. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Marion.

Ronald P. McGee, 69, 1552 Greensway Ct. NE formerly of Waterloo and Cedar Falls died Tuesday December 4, 2001 at Northbrook Manor following a courageous battle with cancer. Services: 10:30 A.M. Friday at St. Pius Catholic Church by the Rev. Donald Klein. Friends may call from 2 to 8 PM Thursday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home where a vigil service will be held at 7 PM. Surviving in addition to his wife Jeanne are five daughters, Pam Christensen and husband Steve of Sioux Falls, SD, Patty Cresap and husband Jim of Shell Rock, Kelly McGee of Phoenix, AZ, Angie Markham and husband Jim of Cedar Rapids and Christy Kalous and husband Bob of Cedar Rapids; four sons, Terry McGee of Ankeny, Kolin McGee of Cedar Rapids, Joel McGee and wife Nancy of Salt Lake City, UT, and Chad Hawker of Cedar Rapids; three brothers, Lyola McGee, Willis McGee, and Leo McGee; four sisters, Eileen Whalen, Gerry Ott, Dorothy Hovey and Millie Ellingson; ten grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Ron was born March 25, 1932 in Cresco the son of Leo and Geneva Cummings McGee. He married
Jeanne Reicherts on August 19, 1988 in Cedar Rapids. Ron, along with his wife and stepson operate McGee Appraisal Services, Inc.. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, the American Society of Appraisers, the Elks Club, Knights of Columbus, the Greater Cedar Rapids Home Builders Association, was President of the Waterloo/Cedar Falls Board of Realtors in 1977, was President of the Iowa Association of Realtors in 1984, and was Director of the National Association of Realtors from 1982 to 1985. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Ron loved to golf, and tailgate Iowa Hawkeye Football Games. Ron will be greatly missed by everyone he touched. His smile and personality is a loss to everyone.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy, a daughter Judy Vincent of Hiawatha, three brothers Walter of Waterloo, Ray and wife Maxine of Cedar Rapids, and Lawrence and wife Vera of Coarsegold, California, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter Sara.
Neal was born August 11, 1918, in Dows, Iowa, to Harry and Amy Harrison Schoonover. He married
Dorothy Maurer on January 26, 1946 in Cedar Rapids. He was a truck driver for Teamsters Local 238 for many years retiring in 1978. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha and a WW II US Army Veteran.

George R. Alexander, 90, a resident of the Meth-Wick Community, died Friday, December 7, 2001, in St. Luke's Hospital following a long illness. Memorial services at 1 PM Monday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Jack Kendall of the Meth-Wick Community will officiate. Inurnment in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . There will be no visitation. Friends may register at the chapel after 12:30 PM on Monday.
Survivors include his son John, granddaughters Christina, Amanda, and Jaclyn Alexander all of Carleton Place Ontario, Canada, a special niece and best friend Shirley Budreau of Cedar Rapids, who was always there for George and was dedicated to his care, and several nieces and nephews.
George was born September 30, 1911, at Martelle, Jones County, Iowa. He grew up and graduated from high school at Lansing, Iowa. He served three years in the US Army during peacetime and was a letter carrier for 30 years in Cedar Rapids, retiring in 1969. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
In 1939 he married
Martha Petersen, they had one son John, she died in 1956. In 1957, he married
Hazel McIlvain, she died in 1995.

Survivors include her husband Orval, a daughter Susan Hemstad of Bemidji, Minnesota, a son Jerry Shaffer of Independence, a brother Leroy Taylor of Cedar Rapids, and two sisters Lois Oliphant, of Omak, Washington, and Jessie Hanson of Greene, Iowa. Also survived by six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Ruth, Jean, and Frieda, and two brothers David and Everett.
Dorothy was born October 2, 1922, in Toddville, Iowa, to Fred and Fern Mason Taylor. She married
Orval B. Shaffer on October 21, 1941 in Cedar Rapids. She was a farmer and school cook for several years. She had been a member of the Greens Grove Community Church, and presently a member of the First United Methodist Church in Independence. She loved horses and camping.

Worth, Texas, and two grandchildren, Cameron and Tanner Bentley. She was preceded in death by her father Donald Giltrap.
Jo was born October 14, 1952, in Cedar Rapids to Donald and Cleo Van Fossen Giltrap. She graduated from Washington High School in 1970. She was a self-employed transcriptionist. She enjoyed country music and wrote music and poetry and compiled cookbooks.

Terry Mann Martin, 65, of 3226 14th Ave SE, died Thursday, December 20, 2001, in St. Luke's Hospital from complications during heart surgery. Survivors include his wife Dixie, two sons, Brad of Los Angeles, and Tyler and wife Beth of Cedar Rapids: three grandchildren, Hallie, Signey, and Samuel Martin, a sister Molly Gray and husband John of Los Angeles, two nephews, and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Terry was born May 30, 1936, in Waterloo, Iowa to Donald E. and Maxine Dickey Martin. He graduated from Traer High School in 1954. He served in the US Army from July 1954 until June 1956 in Germany. He was joined in marriage to Dixie Bradley on August 19, 1956 in Traer. He attended Iowa State University and returned to Traer where he became employed at First National Bank until 1969. He was a vice president of the correspondent banking division of Merchants National Bank\Firstar until retirement in 1992. Terry was past president of Linn County Bankers, a member of Otter Creek Gun Club, and won the Iowa State Trapshoot in 1996. His main interests were spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was an avid golfer and trapshooter. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
