Charles D. Parks, 48 of 1490 Country Club Dr. Marion, died Sunday, June 2, 2002 at Mercy Medical Center after a sudden illness. Services at 10 AM on Wed. at King of Kings Lutheran Church. Rev. Leon Hauser will officiate. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday.
Survivors include his wife, Becky, two sons, Daniel and John both at home, his father and mother, Loren and Dolores Parks, four sisters, Angela Tesar and husband, Dean and Lois Simmons and husband, Kirk all of Cedar Rapids, Gloria Tesar and husband, Don of Mt. Vernon and Mary Whitters and husband, Matt of Hudson, Mass. Also survived by an aunt, Lois Rohman and husband, Bert of Metamora, ILL. and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Ann.
Chuck was born on Aug. 13, 1953 in Ft. Madison, the son of Loren and Dolores Vegalius Parks. He married Becky J. Wenndt on Dec. 6, 1975 in Cedar Rapids. Chuck was an order administrator at Rockwell-Collins for 24 years. He was a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church and was Assistant Scout Master for Troop 360 for many years. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Chuck's name.

Craig E. Thomas

Craig E. Thomas, 42, of Scottsdale, AZ. formerly of Marion died Friday, May 31, 2002 at the Scottsdale Osborn Hospital in Scottsdale, AZ after a long illness. Memorial services at 3 PM on Sat. at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories where there will also be military rites. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Friday.
Survivors include his parents, Edwin and Jerene A. Cady-Thomas of Marion, two sisters, Jerilynn Thomas of Anamosa, Joanne Thomas-Marshall (Scott) Jordan and Julien of Arlington, TX., and a brother, Kevin Thomas (Janine) Zach, Emily and Mackenzie of Mesa, AZ. Also survived by his maternal grandmother, Irene Roscoe of Marion, many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends as well as 'Betty', his beloved '95 Chevy Impala SS. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Gerald A. Cady, step grandfather, Frank J. Roscoe, paternal grandparents, Newton H. and Frances M. Thomas and a step grandmother, Helen Thomas.
Craig was born on April 20, 1960 in Cedar Rapids. As a young person he was a very active participant in the Boy Scouts. He graduated from Marion High School in 1978 and attended the University of Iowa. Craig served in Battery C, 1st Battalion, 14th Marines, USMCR, Waterloo, Iowa and was married in 1989. He spent his entire career in the Cable Telecommunications Industry while living in Cedar Rapids, Houston, Phoenix, Southern California and owned and operated a cable design business. Craig enjoyed photography, outdoor sports and sport cars.
A celebration of life will be held immediately following the service at his parent's home: 1895 2nd Ave. Marion.

Nelda M. Cypra
April 19, 1922 - June 09, 2002

Nelda M. Cypra, 80, of 950 Kerry Lane S.E., died Sunday at her residence following a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by Rev. Howard B. Chapman, First Presbyterian Church, Marion, officiating. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today and at the Chapel of Memories after 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
Surviving besides her husband, is a brother, N. Earl Barber and wife Virginia, 3 nieces, Linda Osmundson, Eileen Goodwin and Carolyn Fowler, a nephew, Bruce Barber, great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Eleanor Roby and a brother, Marlin Barber.
Nelda was born on April 19, 1922 in Urbana, Iowa to George and Olive (Epley) Barber and was married to Earl H. Cypra on July 18, 1965 in Marion.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Marion and the Marion Women's Club.
Friends may, if they wish, make memorial contributions to Hospice of Mercy in memory of Nelda or to the family.

G.W. 'Bill' Eddings

G. W. 'Bill' Eddings, 80, of 2832 Camelot Ave NW, died Tuesday, June 18, 2002, in St. Luke's Hospital following a short illness. Memorial services at 2 PM Friday in St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer will officiate. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Survivors include twin sons Jon and wife Mary and Jay and wife Bonnie all of Cedar Rapids, a daughter Lexie von Yeast and husband David of Waterloo, Illinois, a sister Moline Marriot of Columbia, Missouri, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son David Patton Eddings and a cousin Samuel Semple of Moberly, Missouri.
Bill was born July 19, 1921 in Moberly, Missouri to George and Ethel Bradly Eddings. He married Esther Head in Moberly, Missouri. She died in 1983.
He attended high school at Moberly, Missouri, the Moberly Junior College and graduated from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College at Kirksville. He received his M. A. degree from Iowa State College at Ames through postgraduate work.
In 1964 he came to work for the Cedar Rapids public schools for the Cedar Rapids Vocational Technical School, which later became Area 10 and then became Kirkwood Community College. He had served as President of the Iowa Vocational Association. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, the Rotary club for over 50 years and loved woodworking.
Instead of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Betty F. Altorfer

Betty F. Altorfer, 84, of 2130 Goblins Gully SE, died Wednesday, June 19, 2002, in her home following a long illness. Services at 1 PM Saturday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Dr. Elwin Farwell of Decorah, Iowa will officiate. Entombment in Chapel of Memories Mausoleum in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Friday and at the chapel after noon on Saturday.
Survivors include her husband Edward, sons Donald and wife Patricia of Springfield, Illinois, James and wife Sharon, Bruce and wife Janis, and Richard and wife Candy all of Cedar Rapids, ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers Willis and Bert Fitton.
Betty was born July 7, 1917, in Peoria, Illinois, to Bertron and Salome Reed Fitton. She married Edward J. Altorfer on June 22, 1940 in Peoria. She was a member of the Church of the Red Rock in Sedona, Arizona, Monday League, Cedar Rapids Garden Club, Junior League, a former member of P.E.O., a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana,
and served as a Regent at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Cedar Rapids Foundation, Luther College Endowment Fund, or to the charity of your choice.

Kitteile P. Donaldson, 54, of 4206 Twin Ridge Ct. SE, formerly of Louisville, Kentucky, and Fort Worth, Texas, died Thursday, June 20, 2002, in University Hospital in Iowa City following a short illness. Services at 10 AM Saturday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Friends may call at the chapel after 9 AM on Saturday. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Survivors include her husband Gordon, two daughters Kristin Donaldson of Lexington, Kentucky, and Lauren Donaldson of Cedar Rapids, her parents Martin and Dorothy Pike of Dallas, Texas, a brother Martin E. Pike III and wife Janet of Refugio, Texas, and a sister Sue Ann Chiuminatto of Dallas, Texas.
Kitteile was born October 2, 1947 in Fort Worth, Texas. She married Gordon R. Donaldson on December 31, 1969 in Kingsville, Texas. She was a homemaker and completely devoted to her family and pets.

Arlo Ceylon Klein

Arlo Ceylon Klein, age 78, of 64 Dartmouth Street SW, formerly of Waukon, went to meet his Lord on June 23, 2002 at home, following a battle with cancer. Services with Masonic rites will be at 10 AM Thursday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Rev. Will Jackson of Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church will officiate. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 8 PM on Wednesday and at the chapel after 9 AM on Thursday.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby, a daughter Judi and husband Jon Sandler of Tampa, Florida, two sons Steven and wife Linda of Marion, and Kerry and friend Nadine Miller of Hiawatha, a sister-in-law Eileen Klein of Cedar Rapids, eight grandchildren, Amanda, Jennifer, Bryan, Joshua, Thomas, Molly, Chrystopher, and Brandina, three great grandsons, Corey, Nicholas, and Brandon, nieces and nephews, many cousins, and his pets Tigr and Sassy. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert, his mother, Mary, two brothers, Lawrence and Donald and a sister Gladys.
Arlo was born August 31, 1923 in Ludlow Township, Allamakee County, Iowa, the son of Albert H. and Mary E. (Duvel) Klein. He married Ruby Cowell on August 31, 1957, in the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville, Iowa. He was a farmer in the Postville, Waukon area until 1961 when he came to the Cedar Rapids area. He was employed by Per Mar Security, Farmstead Foods and Wilson's. He was a member of the Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church, Marion Masonic Lodge #6, A.F. & A.M., and Past Worthy Patron of Marion O.E.S. chapter 183. He attended grade school at Ludlow #5 and graduated from Waukon High School in 1941. He liked to garden and always had lots of flowers. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Masonic rites by Marion Masonic Lodge #6 A.F. & A.M.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church or to the American Cancer Society.

Dale H. Phelps

Dale H. Phelps, 77, of 205 40th St. Dr. S.E., died Sunday at St. Lukes Hospital following complications of heart disease. Services: 1 p.m. Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by Rev. William Harnish. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, and at the Chapel of Memories after noon on Thursday.
Survivors are his son, James Phelps and wife Susan of Toddville and a daughter, Kathy Phelps Hogan and husband Dick of Cedar Rapids, a sister, Naomi Wehde of Tipton, two brothers, Gene Phelps and Max Phelps, both of Tipton and two grandchildren, Jason Phelps and Kelly Hogan.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Carrie Etta Stoeber.
Dale was born May 20, 1925 near Alburnett to James and Esther (Sharpless) Phelps and was married to Marilyn Macon in 1949. They were later divorced. He then was married to Joan Wilson in 1974. They were also divorced. He was a graduate of Tipton High School in 1943 where he was involved with music having played the tuba.
He had been in both radio and television sales, having worked for KCRG and WMT in Cedar Rapids. He had been employed at Kenwood House Interiors for 7 years prior to his retirement.
He did volunteer work with St. Lukes Hospital and worked with the Freedom Festival in Cedar Rapids. He also volunteered at the Witwer Senior Center. He was an avid Hawkeye fan and loved all types of music.
Friends may, if they wish, make contributions to the charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank Dr. Lawrence Cook and United Heart Associates and the caring staff at St. Lukes Hospital for their loving care during Dale's illness.
