Jacquelyn F. Anderson, 74, of 3217 Ravenwood Terrace NW, died Wednesday, March 5, 2003, in her home following a long illness. Services at 10:30 AM Saturday in St. Jude Catholic Church. Rev. Tom Rastrelli will officiate. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Friday with a wake service beginning at 7 PM.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Donald, two daughters, Nancy Stephenson and husband August of Cedar Rapids, Karen Lantz and husband Michael of Des Moines, a son Robert and wife Bernadette of Dallas, Texas, her sister Janet Krumbholz of Des Moines, five grandchildren, Wendy and Kristi Stephenson, Todd and David Lantz, and Blake Anderson, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister Eileen Spaight.
Jacquelyn was born December 12, 1928 in Cedar Rapids to Giles and Coletta Merfeld Joyce. She married Donald W. Anderson on April 15, 1950 in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from St. Patrick's and worked many years for the St. Jude and LaSalle school systems. She also assisted her husband at Don's Auto Supply for several years. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.
A memorial fund has been established.

Cletus Dale Bennett, 61, of 1570 10th Street, Marion, died Saturday, March 1, 2003, in his home following a sudden illness. Services at 1 PM Tuesday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Monday and at the chapel after 12:30 PM on Tuesday.
Survivors include his wife Theresa 'Tari', four brothers Lowell Bennett and wife Toni of Antioch, California, Robert Bennett and wife Tootsie of Cedar Rapids, Richard Bennett and wife Pat of Iowa Park, Texas, and Roger Bennett of Lansing, Iowa, three sisters Eva Ryan of Palatine, Illinois, Charlotte Olsen and husband Elmer of Cedar Rapids, and Joan Alexander and husband Kenneth of Brooklyn, Iowa, his uncle Don McMullen of Mercer Island, Washington, 2 brother-in-laws Lee H. Brown and wife Brenda of Black River Falls, Wisconsin, and Bill Brown and wife Gail of Bangor, Wisconsin, 5 sisters-in-law Betty Houle of Odanah, Wisconsin, Kathryn Brown of Wausau, Wisconsin, Ella Bigboy of Schofield, Wisconsin, Beatrice Brown of Saxon, Wisconsin, and Phyllis Tutor and husband Bruce of Odanah, Wisconsin, many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and his two pets, his dog Paul and his cat Precious.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Forrest, Cleve, and Milton Dean, an infant sister, mother and father in law Lee H. and Elizabeth Brown Sr., and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Rosemary and Leonard Bigboy. Cletus was born April 21, 1941 in Postville, Iowa to Earl and Vera Monnahan Bennett. He married Theresa 'Tari' Brown on October 26, 1967 in Caledonia, Minnesota. He was a laborer at Longview Fibre for 30 years retiring in 1998. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War.
Memorial contributions may be made to Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion.

Pastor Raymond I. Barrett

Pastor Raymond I. Barrett, 63, passed away Wednesday, March 5, at his home north of Cedar Rapids, after a battle with cancer. He had been Senior Pastor of New Covenant Bible Church since 1993. A memorial service will be held at New Covenant, 1800 46th Street NE in Cedar Rapids, on Sunday, March 9, at 2:00 PM. Friends may visit with the family at the church following the service. Interment will be at Milton cemetery near his hometown of Dayton, PA. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship memorial has been established at New Covenant.
Survivors include his wife Sharon; two daughters, Sarah Ray and her husband Marty of Plano, TX; Jennifer Becker and her husband Christopher of Fishers, IN; two grandchildren, Caitlin Ray and Elijah Becker; and seven brothers and sisters the Reverend Eugene Barrett, Lyle Barrett, and Verle Barrett, all of Dayton, PA; Patricia Hetrick of New Bethlehem, PA; Dr. Irene Alyn of Cedarville, OH; Pastor James Barrett of Coraopolis, PA; and Paula Reedy of Mars, PA.
Ray held a Bachelor's degree in education from Clarion State College in Pennsylvania, a Master of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary, and a Doctorate in Pastoral Ministries from Denver Seminary, where his dissertation was on developing servant leadership in the church. He taught junior high in Grand Rapids, Michigan before attending seminary and going into the ministry. He served as Minister of College and Youth in Tyler, TX before becoming Senior Pastor in churches in Fargo, ND; Redwood City, CA; Spokane, WA; Dallas, TX; Fort Collins, CO; and, most recently, Cedar Rapids.
He loved spending time with his family, as well as hunting and fishing with his brothers, Sons-in-law, and good friends. His passion was seeing people come into personal relationship with Jesus Christ and helping them develop into maturity as godly servant leaders. He deeply loved the people of New Covenant and delighted in the team of godly staff and leaders with whom he shared his life. His life and ministry were a tribute to God's grace, and he presently resides with the Lord he served.

William (Bill) P. Hyde, 59, a missionary in the Philippines and former resident of Shellsburg, died Tuesday, March 4th in the Philippines as a result of the terrorist bombing that took place at the Davao Airport on Mindanao Island in the Philippines. Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, March 13th at the Immanuel Baptist Church by Pastor Ed Gregory, Associate Executive Director - Mission Team Leader for the Baptist Convention of Iowa and assisted by Pastor David Miller of the Northbrook Baptist Church. Interment: Shellsburg cemetery , Shellsburg, Iowa. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12th and at the Immanuel Baptist Church after noon on Thursday. Military services will be conducted by American Legion Hanford Post #5.
Surviving besides his wife Garlinda, are two sons, Timothy Hyde of Dallas, Texas and Steven Hyde and wife Noit of Cambodia, a sister; Barbara Brooker and husband Richard of Iowa City and a brother; J. Richard (Dick) Hyde and wife Judy from Chetek, Wisconsin.
Mr. Hyde was born February 3, 1944 in Cedar Rapids to John and Helen (Kibbie) Hyde and was married to Garlinda (Lyn) Gage on June 12, 1966 at Bethany Baptist Church in Iowa City.
After graduating from high school in Shellsburg, Bill went to Upper Iowa University in Fayette and later transferred to the University of Iowa where he graduated with a BA and MA degree in music. After graduation, he taught at schools, both in Barnum and Eldora, Iowa. He later attended Golden Gate Baptist Theological School at Mill Valley, California, before he and his wife went to the Philippines as missionaries. Later, he finished his Master of Divinity degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. While in Manila, he taught music and economics for over 10 years at Faith Academy, a school for missionary children, as well as starting up new churches. They then transferred to Mindanao, where Bill was training Filipinos to start churches all across Mindanao. Bill and Garlinda (Lyn) have served as Baptist missionaries with the International Mission Board, SBC since 1978.
Immanuel Baptist Church was the Hyde's home church and they also maintained ties with Northbrook Baptist Church, a sister church of Immanuel.
Mr. Hyde served in the U.S. Army from 1966-68 and was in the Vietnam Conflict from 1967-1968.
In lieu of flowers, friends may, if they wish, make donations to the Words of Life Ministries, c/o Immanuel Baptist Church, 1900 F. Ave. N.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52405.

Clarence W. Allers, 81, of 436 Teakwood Lane, NE, died Sunday, March 9, 2003, in St. Luke's Hospital following a short illness. Services at 11 AM Wednesday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Thomas E. Hedtke and Vicar Jason Shaw of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Marion will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Tuesday and at the chapel after 10:30 AM on Wednesday.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years Orpha, a son Dan (Jo) of Cedar Rapids, two daughters Peggy Barron (Greg) of Blairstown, and Debby Haddy (Gary) of Cedar Rapids, and 6 grandchildren, Dena, David, Danielle, Catherine, Denise, and Lee, and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Charles.
Clarence was born December 5, 1921 in Keystone, Iowa to William H. and Clara Schluntz Allers. He married Orpha Allen on October 26, 1941 in Belle Plaine, Iowa. He farmed in the Keystone area until 1969 and then moving to Cedar Rapids worked as a welder for Link-Belt Speeder. After his retirement he worked in security at Lindale Mall. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Marion.
Clarence was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Norval L. 'Eddie' Edwards

Norval L. 'Eddie' Edwards, 81, of 150 Thompson Dr. SE, died Monday, March 10, 2003, in his home. Services with military rites at10:30 AM Friday in All Saints Catholic Church with Rev. David O'Connor officiating. Entombment in Mt. Calvary cemetery . Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday with a wake service beginning at 7 PM.
Survivors include his wife Mary, a daughter Maureen Fletcher and husband Greg of DeWitt, Iowa, two sons Thomas Edwards and wife Alexa of Belleville, Illinois, and Terry Edwards and wife Melissa of San Diego, California, a brother Robert Edwards and sister Frances Kunzweiler both of Ormond Beach, Florida, five grandchildren, Kevin Fletcher, Andrew and Morgan Edwards, and Andrea and Amy Edwards, and a great-granddaughter Mackenzie. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
Norval was born August 27, 1921 in Ashland, Illinois, to Charles and Lottie Long Edwards. He married Mary E. Callan on September 7, 1946, in Cedar Rapids. Norval was Vice President and General Manager of the Eastern Region for Mid Continent Bottlers for 41 years retiring in 1987. He served in the US Marine Corp during WW II
in Iwo Jima attaining the rank of Gunnery Sgt. He was a 51 year member of All Saints Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, Past member of the board of directors at Elmcrest Country Club, a member of Cedar Rapids Optimist Club, Elks Club, a charter member of the University of Iowa Athletic Club, Past President of the Iowa Soft Drink Association, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Illinois Soft Drink Association.
Military rites by VFW Post No 788.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hallmar Residential Care at Mercy Medical Center, or to All Saints Catholic Church.

Lewis E. Huston, 75, of 1003 30th St. NE died Monday March 17, 2003 at St. Lukes Hospital after a sudden illness. Services at 10 AM on Thursday at Salem United Methodist Church. Rev. Linda Bibb will officiate. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Wed. The casket will be closed at the Church.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia, two daughters, Linda Hudson of Center Point, Katherine Sauer of Cedar Rapids, two sons, John of Oconamowac, Wis., James of Marion, two sisters, Bertha Shinn of Lancaster, Wis. and Edith Cook of Columbia, Mo. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, a niece, Delores Hoye and a nephew, Marshall Grimm both of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by a sister, Alma Augustine.
Lewis was born on May 17, 1927 in Monfort, WI., the son of Frank and Anna Pierce Huston. He married Patricia B. Whitson on April 16, 1949 in Racine, WI. Lewis was a foreman in maintenance at Rockwell- Collins for 28 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and Boys In Blue Ministries. He was a very active volunteer in the community and served in the Navy during WWII. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Salem United Methodist Church in Lewis' name.

Michael L. Roup, 52, of 1401 Seminole Ave NW, died Sunday, March 16, 2003, in St. Luke's Hospital following a short illness. Services at 1 PM Thursday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Pastor Mick Schultz will officiate. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday and at the chapel after 12:30 PM on Thursday.
Survivors include his wife Julie, two sons Austin and Andrew at home, a daughter Stacey of Chicago, Illinois, his father Melvin Roup of Cedar Rapids, a brother Dr. Ronald Roup and wife Maureen of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Bernadette Mungen Roup.
Michael was born July 1, 1950, in Cedar Rapids. He attended Emmetsburg Jr. College and Upper Iowa University on basketball scholarships. He graduated from Upper Iowa University. He married Julie Caraway on June 28, 1991 in Cedar Rapids. Michael was an 8th grade teacher and coached track and basketball at Franklin Middle School for 28 years. He loved hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his children. They made him smile and laugh often. He will be greatly missed.
A memorial fund has been established for his children.
