Myrvin A. Pope, 94, of the Brookstone Village in Omaha, NE. formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003 at Brookstone after a short illness. Services at 1 PM on Sat. at the First Congregational Church where there will also be military rites. Rev. David Hohmann will officiate. Entombment in the Cedar Memorial Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Friday. The casket will be closed at all times.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine, two daughters, Susan Nelson and her husband,
Harold of Omaha, NE., and Nancy Vivanco and her husband, Sergio of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He is also survived by six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Myrtis Iossi in 1991.
Myrvin was born on Sept. 13, 1909 in Redfield, SD. the son of Charles and Maude
McCarn Pope. He graduated from Coe College in 1931. He married M. Maxine Brown
on June 19, 1937 in Cedar Rapids. Myrvin was in marketing at Northwest Bell for over 40 years, retiring in 1974. He was a member of the First Congregational Church and served in the Navy during WWII. A memorial fund has been established in Myrvin's name. Military rites by American Legion Hanford Post No. 5.

Virginia L. Randolph

Virginia L. Randolph, 76, of Hiawatha, died Friday, October 10, 2003, in Mercy Medical Center from complications of a stroke. Memorial services at 10:30 AM Tuesday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Rev. Neil Manternach will officiate. Inurnment in Mt. Calvary cemetery . Friends may register at the church after 10 AM on Tuesday. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Survivors include two daughters Jean Larkin and husband John of Marshalltown and Kathy Hopkins, a sister Geri Crock and husband Paul of Mechanicsville, six grandchildren, Marie Halverson and husband Heath, Abbey Lenz and husband Kevin, Emily and Laura Larkin, Brian Meyer and wife Cindy, Brent Meyer and wife Jaime, three great-grandchildren Owen, Callie, and Nathan Meyer, Jim Meyer, and special friend Al Otto. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Liz Reihsen and a grandson James Larkin.
Virginia was born May 19, 1927 in Des Moines, Iowa to Louis and Frances Hall Reihsen. She graduated from St. Josephs Academy in Des Moines in 1945 and from Iowa State in 1949. She worked in accounting at Rockwell-Collins retiring in 1992. She enjoyed ushering at the symphony concerts in the Paramount Theatre. She enjoyed dancing, Broadway plays and musicals. and was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church in Hiawatha.
Virginia was the center of her family whom she adored and loved.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mothers Against Drunk Drivers.

Esther E. Ellison

Esther E. Ellison, 93, a resident of Living Center West, died there Wednesday, October 22, 2003, following a
Long illness. Services at 10:30 AM Monday in Bethany Lutheran Church. Rev. Joseph Polzin will officiate. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 3 to 5 PM on Sunday and at the church after 10 AM on Monday.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 66 years, Robert, of Cedar Rapids, and her brother Walter Kettler of Belle Plaine, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters Lillian Studt and Mabel Williams.
Esther was born November 4, 1909 in Luzerne, Iowa to George and Martha Deppe Kettler. She was a graduate of the Belle Plaine Business College in 1928. She married Robert H. Ellison on November 25, 1937 in Cedar Rapids. She was the Librarian at Collins Radio for 29 years retiring January 1, 1972. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, the Collins Employees Retirement Club, and a lifetime member of the Collins Technical Association. She and Bob loved boating, traveling, and bicycling.
Please, no flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

Greggory Alan Fisher

Greggory Alan Fisher 45 of Atkins, passed away unexpectedly Sat. Nov. 29, 2003 in Cedar Rapids. Memorial services at 3 PM on Wed. at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. The Reverend William B. Harnish will officiate. Inurnment at Cedar Memorial Mausoleum Columbarium. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 9 PM on Tuesday.
Gregg is survived by his wife, Sandy of Atkins. Four daughters, Jennifer (20) of Iowa City, Stephanie (16), Amanda (14), Brittney (11) at home. His mother Karen Fisher Cassady and stepfather Ron Cassady of Cedar Rapids. His Father Walter A. Fisher Jr. of Cedar Rapids. His brothers Skip Fisher and wife Eileen, of Cedar Rapids, Eric Fisher and wife Teresa of Tucson, Arizona, Walter A. Fisher III and his wife Lisa of Cedar Rapids, and a sister Connie Petersen and husband Roger of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Gregg was born October 10, 1958 in Cedar Rapids to Walter Fisher and Karen (Kramer) Fisher. He married Sandra Filson September 26, 1982. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1977. He attended Kirkwood Community College. Gregg worked at General Mills for 12 years and was most recently unemployed.
Gregg dearly loved his children and was very talented with computers...creating several programs and innovations. He, also, collected vintage Pontiac GTO’s and J.F.K. memorabilia.
Gregg will be greatly missed by his family and friends who love him dearly.
We would like to add that it is important that families stick together and tell each other of any problems that they can’t handle, because help is always near. Please don’t bottle things inside because it leaves us with the feeling of “what if”.
The Lord has Gregg in his hands now and will give him the comfort that he couldn’t find here on Earth! Gregg, we will always love you.

Carl C. Holthaus, 85, of 631 34th St S.E. died Monday December 1, 2003 in Living Center East following a short illness. Memorial Services: 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories where friends may call after 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Robert 'Bob' Burkhart will officiate. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Cedar Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Gail Holthaus, his son, Kevin Holthaus and wife Lynn and their daughter, Ashley all of Elkhorn, Nebraska, a brother, Ray Holthaus and wife Maudie of Colesburg, 3 sisters, Coelo Shoemaker of Longmont, California, Viola Rigney of Raleigh, North Carolina and Letha Moon and husband Milton of Silver Spring, Maryland.
His parents, and a brother, Rueben Holthaus and wife Lucille, preceded him in death.
Carl was born December 21, 1917 in Colesburg, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Ella Hartbecke Holthaus. He married Gail V. Harry on November 2, 1947 in the United Methodist Church in Colesburg. He was an inspector for the Federal Government. Carl was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and the American Legion Hanford Post #5. He enjoyed Golf, fishing and hunting. He served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War. The American Legion Hanford Post #5 will conduct military Rites.

Survivors include her husband Kermit, her mother Ruth Caldwell of Alburnett, her children, Debbie Doyle and husband Pat of Fairfield, Iowa, Richard Long Jr. and wife Julie of Osceola, Iowa, Roger Long and wife Kay of Rock Island, Illinois, David Long and wife Christine of Olin, Suzanne Edwards and husband Greg of Marion, and Stacy Postier of Los Angeles, California, three sisters Gerry Decious of Lisbon, Diane Hixson of Cedar Rapids, and Ruthann Morrison and husband Richard of Alburnett, three brothers Donald Seedorf of Hiawatha, Larry Seedorf and wife Tina of Appleton, Wisconsin, and Terry Meeks of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 10 grandchildren, and 1 greatgrandson. She was preceded in death by her father Clarence Seedorf.
Rosann was born September 9, 1938 in Marion, Iowa to Clarence and Ruth Lambert Seedorf. She married Richard Long in 1954. They divorced. She married Kermit E. Postier on November 16, 1963 in Denver, Colorado. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marion, and attended the Alburnett United Methodist Church.

Ellen Faye West, 79, of Lenexa, KA., formerly of Marion, Iowa died Thursday Nov. 27, 2003 at her home after a long illness. Services at 11 AM on Wed. at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories where friends may call after 10 AM on Wed. Rev. Dave Higdon will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Cedar Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangement. Per Ellen's request the casket will be closed at all times.
Survivors include her husband, Richard, a son, Philip and his wife, Janet of Eaton Rapids, Michigan and a daughter, Lora Jenner and husband, Brad of Lenexa, KA. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Lowell.
Ellen was born on Jan. 17, 1924 in Brighton, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph and Harma Burns Parks. She married Richard H. West on April 8, 1950 in Chicago, ILL. Ellen was a homemaker. She was a member of a theatre group in Marshalltown, Iowa and the Unitarian Church in Honolulu, Hawaii, where they lived for 12 years. She was active in the Elks Ladies Auxiliary, square dancing and most recently she and Richard wintered in South Texas. Memorial donations may be given to the Salvation Army in Ellen's name.

Dorothy J. Lipp, 97, of 1830 D. Ave. N.E., died Thursday at Mercy Medical Center following a short illness. Services: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew Catholic Church by Father Mark Osterhaus and Father Gerald Condon officiating. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, where a parish rosary service will be given at 5 p.m.
Surviving is a daughter, Sandra J. Jenney of Cedar Rapids, a sister, Lorraine Woodson of Cedar Rapids, 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, a son Edward, grandson Michael, 2 brothers, Leland Sheeley and Dean Sheeley and an infant sister, Margaret Sheeley.
She was born on June 12, 1906 in Winthrop, Iowa to Fred and Lottie (Moore) Sheeley and was married to George E. Lipp on October 29, 1928 in Chicago. He preceded her in death in 1994.
She formerly was employed by the Collins Radio Company from 1964 – 1981 and she and her husband had owned and operated the Lipps Grill in Cedar Rapids for many years.
Dorothy was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, friends may, if they wish, make contributions to the charity of their choice.
