Robert Allan Morley, 56, died peacefully on Aug. 6, 2004 of stomach cancer at the home of his significant other, Pam Klemetson, of Cedar Rapids. Friends and relatives may attend a celebration of Bob's life at 12:30 PM on Tuesday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Al Milligan will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral home from 5 to 8 PM on Monday and at the Chapel 11:30 AM on Tuesday.
Survivors include his significant other, Pam Klemetson, a brother, Gil Jr. (Monica) Morley, sisters, Dorothy Morley Wright and Betty Slaymaker Spores, special friends, Rick Sadilek, Doug Willey, Glennis Hald, Randy Reick and Ted Maires, four nieces, one nephew and his cat, Tommy Boy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Esther Morley.
Bob was born on March 31, 1948 in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Washington High School in 1966. Bob served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Qui Nhon, South Vietnam where he guarded a large ammunition supply depot, which was hit on January 31, 1968 during the start of the Tet Offensive. Bob also served in Darmstadt, West Germany. He was employed most recently by Norwood Souvenir and had also worked at Harnisfeger, Evergreen Packaging, Cedar Rapids Inc. and Universal. Bob was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. He was an avid Democrat and worked for social justice and democracy for all. He loved attending Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball games. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Bob's memory.

Betty J. Curttright, 81, of 514 9th Street NW, died Saturday, December 22, 2001, in West Ridge Care Center following a short illness. Services at 1 PM Thursday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Matthew Noffke of the First Congregational Church will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday and at the chapel after 12:30 PM on Thursday.
Survivors include three daughters Nancy Houser and husband Terry of Cedar Rapids, Judy Schoff and husband Douglas of Mt. Vernon, and Karen Pence and husband Rocky of Cedar Rapids, four grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Robert Fosnacht, and a great-granddaughter Hailey.
Betty was born January 21, 1920 in Cedar Rapids to George and Lillian Weithalter Fosnacht. She married
Floyd D. Curttright on March 28, 1942 in Kahoka, Missouri. He died March 30, 1972. Betty worked in the payroll department at Armstrong's Department Store from 1959 to 1986. She was a member of New Encounters and Garfield Girls. She loved cats, traveling, and dining out.

Dorothy C. Gunderson, 67, of the Methwick-Community died there on Monday, Sept. 24, 2001 after a long illness. Services at 11 AM on Sat. at St. Andrew Lutheran church. Rev. T. Edwards Breed will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Friday and at the Church after 10 AM on Saturday.
Survivors include her husband, James, a daughter, Diane Kramer of Cedar Rapids, two sons, Steve Kramer and his wife Kristie, of Tucson, AZ., Ron Kramer and his wife, Lori of Tulsa, OK, two sisters, Mildred Graf of Mission, TX. and Donna Schult of Oelwein. Also survived by five grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, LaVern Begalske.
Dorothy was born on Oct. 29, 1934 in Hawkeye, the daughter of Ernest and Caroline Zupke Begalske. She married
James H. Gunderson on June 6, 1992 at the Little Brown church in Nashua. Dorothy was a hostess at the Springhouse Restaurant for 16 years, retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Eagles Club and St. Andrew Lutheran church where a memorial fund has been established in Dorothy's name. She is now at peace with the Lord and Savior.
Harold Scott Martin

Harold S. Martin, 74, of Belle Plaine formerly of Cedar Rapids, died November 18, 2001 at his home after a short illness.
A Memorial service will be held at the Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine at 11:00 A.M. Friday November 24th. Lunch will be served at the American Legion Hall immediately after. Cedar Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Harold was born on June 10, 1927 in Fairfield to Earl and Mildred McCormick Martin. After graduating from Fairfield High School in 1944, he joined the Navy for a tour of duty during WW II until 1947. Harold married
Mildred Underwood on April 6, 1947 in Winfield. Before retirement Harold was employed by Hawkeye Refrigerated Service and other firms as a long haul truck driver. Harold and Mildred drove as a team for many years.
Harold was a member of the American Legion Post in Belle Plaine, and after retirement he did volunteer work at the Belle Plaine Community Center and the Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehab Center.
Survivors include his wife Mildred; a brother Donald of Fairfield; two daughters, Kathy Kocer and husband Robert of Cedar Rapids and Linda Jenkins and husband Jeff of Aurora, CO; six grandchildren, Julie Hall of Cedar Rapids, Mike Hall of Iowa City, Samantha Hall of Cedar Rapids, Jill O'Neill and husband Gene of Denver, CO, Aaron Spratte of Aurora, CO, and Ben Jenkins of Aurora, CO; and several nieces and nephews.
Harold was a wonderful husband and father. He was a kind and giving man who never missed an opportunity to tell a funny story or a favorite joke.

Lyle S. Wessale “The Colonel”, 78, of 633 42nd St. NE, died Friday, November 5, 2004, in St. Luke’s Hospital following a short illness. Memorial services are at 3 PM Monday in the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Inurnment is in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Friends may register at the chapel after 2:30 PM on Monday. Arrangements are by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Lyle was born in Waconia, Minnesota, on May 23, 1926, the only child of George and Lillian F. Ziemer Wessale. He was a resident of Cedar Rapids since 1937. He graduated from McKinley High School in 1944 and served in the U.S. Army in France and Germany from 1944 to 1948.
During his military service, he became an army photographer and subsequently pursued photography as a career. He was a graduate of The Progressive School of Photography, Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut and the Winona School of Photography, Indiana, specializing in color and commercial photography as related to art forms. In the 1950’s he was a co-owner of Duncan Studios. He then became a partner in the Waconia Sorghum Co. from 1960 to 1979 during which part of that time he managed sales and marketing. After his retirement from Waconia Sorghum, he and his wife, Marilyn Parks Wessale, who predeceased him in 1987, traveled extensively exhibiting his photographic art. He was a 5-Star member of the American Society of Artists, the Photographic Society of America, and in 1959 was awarded the degree of Master of Photography by the Professional Photographers of America. Over the years he also served as a judge of art and photography exhibitions. In later years, he exhibited his photography in local antique, and arts and craft shows.
Surviving Lyle are four children, Jerry of Grayslake, Illinois, Craig of Lincoln, Nebraska, Carol Sinkus of Portland, Oregon, and Sheryl Trinka of North English, Iowa, and five grandchildren.

Anne Elizabeth (Ballantyne) Burns, 52, of rural Solon, died Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids after a sudden illness. A memorial service to celebrate Anne’s life will be held at Peoples Unitarian Universalist Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at 10:00 a.m. Friday December 31, 2004. The Reverend Harold Mincey will officiate. A reception at the Church will follow the service. The visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 30 at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Anne was born June 24, 1952 in West Union, Iowa, the daughter of Dr. S.A. and Florence Ballantyne. She attended Kirkwood Community College and the University of Iowa. She married
Bill Burns on February 23, 1974 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Anne was a computer programmer, a systems analyst and a supervisor at Iowa Electric, LeFebure, Mosler, and most recently, a Project Software Manager at NCS Pearson.
She was a past President of the Hawkeye Area Grand Gaelic Isles Society and was involved in organizing the annual All Things Scottish Celtic Fest and the Robert Burns Supper. She was a past member of the Board of Trustees of Peoples Unitarian Universalist Church.
Anne was passionate about all parts of her life – her family and community of friends and her work. She was an avid learner and she pursued excellence. She was a wonderful musician and gardener. Her home was a place of celebration. Her laughter and joy echo through our days and we miss her terribly.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Burns of rural Solon, her sons, Ben Burns (Cora) and Cy Burns of Cedar Rapids, her grandson, Bailey, her mother, Florence Ballantyne of Cedar Rapids, her brother Robert (Mary) Ballantyne of Ely, Iowa, her sisters, Dr. Carol Ballantyne of Garden City, Kansas, Sandra (Tom) Palma of Lake St. Louis, Missouri, and Robin (Scott) Ballantyne of Springville, Iowa. Her family also includes Bob and Alice Burns of Marion, Iowa, Pam (Jay) Gilchrist of Nashville, Tennessee, Carol Taylor (Bob) of Boston, Massachusetts, Mike (Michaela) Burns of Phoenix, Arizona, Mary (John) Hasley of Cedar Rapids and Barb (Mark) Miltner of Cedar Rapids and many, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Selby Ballantyne and her brother, Scott Ballantyne.
Annie will be remembered by all who knew her as a kind, generous and thoughtful person. She will be greatly missed.

Fred Abdnor, 83, a resident of Cedar Rapids and formerly of Lebanon, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, March 13, 2005 at Greenwood Manor. Services: 9 a.m. Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by Rev. William B. Harnish and Rev. Alexander George. Friends may call at the Chapel of Memories after 8 a.m. on Thursday. Interment: St. George Orthodox cemetery . Arrangements are with the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
He leaves behind his son Steven and daughter in law Danielle and his girlfriend of 40 years, Fidelis Abodeely and her family.
He was born on February 10, 1922 to Fayez and Rachel (Nassif) Abdnor in Ain-Arab, Lebanon, and was married
to and divorced from Helen Henry of Marshalltown, Iowa. They had one son, Steven in 1952, who currently resides in Las Vegas, Nevada with wife Danielle.
Fred had served during WWII in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1943 – 1946.
He was an active member of the former St. John’s Eastern Orthodox Church and worked as a master carpenter and mason most of his life. He was generous and loved by many in the community and always gave of his time and expertise to help those in need.
