Leland A. Achenbach, 75, of Anamosa, died Monday, November 22, 2004, in Mercy Medical Center following a short illness. Services at 1 PM Wednesday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Rick Gail of First Assembly of God Church will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday and at the chapel after 12:30 PM on Wednesday.
Survivors include his wife Nadine, two sons L. James (Sandi) of Monticello, and Richard (Karen) of Swisher, a daughter Brenda (Bob) Scott, grandchildren, Jason (Mary) Achenbach of Cedar Rapids, Lucas Cheatwood of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Ryan (Stacey) Achenbach of Monticello, Amy (Kasey) Kadolph of Anamosa, and Devin Achenbach of Cedar Rapids, and Great-grandchildren, Tyler Kadolph, Keegan, Ethan, Stephen, David, and Anna Achenbach. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Lois Achenbach, and his stepfather Charles Skriver.
Leland was born June 19, 1929 in West Branch, Iowa, to Alfred and Rose Cihla Achenbach. He married Nadine Duffield on February 10, 1951 in Cedar Rapids. Leland was a farmer, and had worked as a machinist for Energy in Monticello, and Goss in Cedar Rapids. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Swisher American Legion Post No 671.
A memorial fund has been established.

Jo M. Giltrap, 49, of 645 Ashton Place NE, died Thursday, December 20, 2001, in University Hospital in Iowa City following a short battle with cancer. Services at 9 AM Monday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Kenneth Ornell of Christ Episcopal Church will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 2 to 5 PM on Sunday and at the chapel after 8:30 AM on Monday.
Survivors include her daughter Danielle Bentley and husband Brian of Cedar Rapids, her mother Cleo Giltrap of Cedar Rapids, a sister Jane Giltrap of LeClaire, Iowa, two brothers Ray Giltrap of Columbia, Missouri, and Marv Giltrap of Ft. Worth, Texas, and two grandchildren, Cameron and Tanner Bentley. She was preceded in death by her father Donald Giltrap.
Jo was born October 14, 1952, in Cedar Rapids to Donald and Cleo Van Fossen Giltrap. She graduated from Washington High School in 1970. She was a self-employed transcriptionist. She enjoyed country music and wrote music and poetry and compiled cookbooks.
A memorial fund has been established.

Gordon E. Gilbertson

Gordon E. Gilbertson: 66, of 630 Main Street in Robins, Iowa, died Monday afternoon, August 5, 2002 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a brief illness. Services will be held Saturday, August 10 at 10 a.m. at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Kay Slocum officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday and at the Church after 9 a.m. on Saturday. A reception will be held at the Cedar Memorial Family Center following the committal service. Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church 1000 3rd Avenue SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403 or to the charity of their choice in Gordon’s memory.
Gordon is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sally Jean Gilbertson of Robins, a daughter Lorie Ann Gilbertson and special friend Keith Faulkner of Mesa, AZ, a son Greg Gilbertson and wife Andrea of Waterville, ME, a son Rick Gilbertson and wife Korby of Lincoln, NE and a daughter Sandra Gilbertson and special friend John MacEachern of Minneapolis, MN. Two sisters, Janice Lund and husband Richard of Estherville, IA and Jill Gaster and husband Carl of Cedar Rapids, IA and a brother Gary Gilbertson and wife JoeAnn of Swisher, IA. Gordon also had two grandsons he was very proud of; Grant Moody in Mesa, AZ and Trevor Gilbertson of Waterville, ME. Also several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Inez Gilbertson.
Gordon was born February 8, 1936 in Albert Lea, Minnesota, the son of Earl and Inez (Tukua) Gilbertson. His family then relocated to Cedar Rapids in 1947 where he graduated from McKinley High School in Cedar Rapids.
Gordon began employment with Wilson/Farmstead Foods in 1955 where he was a hog buyer. He often traveled to farms to view hogs for possible purchase. After Wilson/Farmstead closed, Gordon worked with Qualex and the Corporate Express. He met Sally Byam while at one of his favorite activities, mixed bowling league. They fell in love and were married July 25, 1959 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Gordon was a 50+ year member of First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Gordon played baseball for many years in the adult leagues in Cedar Rapids. He loved to garden and fish especially at Leech Lake in Minnesota. He was also recognized for his many contributions as an AAU swimming judge in Eastern Iowa and his involvement in Kennedy Booster Club.

G.W. 'Bill' Eddings

G. W. 'Bill' Eddings, 80, of 2832 Camelot Ave NW, died Tuesday, June 18, 2002, in St. Luke's Hospital following a short illness. Memorial services at 2 PM Friday in St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer will officiate. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Survivors include twin sons Jon and wife Mary and Jay and wife Bonnie all of Cedar Rapids, a daughter Lexie von Yeast and husband David of Waterloo, Illinois, a sister Moline Marriot of Columbia, Missouri, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son David Patton Eddings and a cousin Samuel Semple of Moberly, Missouri.
Bill was born July 19, 1921 in Moberly, Missouri to George and Ethel Bradly Eddings. He married Esther Head in Moberly, Missouri. She died in 1983.
He attended high school at Moberly, Missouri, the Moberly Junior College and graduated from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College at Kirksville. He received his M. A. degree from Iowa State College at Ames through postgraduate work.
In 1964 he came to work for the Cedar Rapids public schools for the Cedar Rapids Vocational Technical School, which later became Area 10 and then became Kirkwood Community College. He had served as President of the Iowa Vocational Association. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, the Rotary club for over 50 years and loved woodworking.
Instead of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

David P. 'Mountain Man' McNulty

David P. 'Mountain Man' McNulty, 49, of 1606 K St. SW, died Saturday, November 9, 2002, in St. Luke's Hospital following a sudden illness. Services with military honors at 1 PM Wednesday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday and at the chapel after 12:30 PM on Wednesday.
Survivors include his wife and best friend Susan, his parents Kay and Ed McNulty of Cedar Rapids, three sons John Pettit and wife Julie of Cedar Rapids, James Clemons and wife Amy of Anamosa, and Jonathon McNulty of the home, a brother Steve 'Mac' McNulty of Oakley, Utah, three grandsons, Matthew, Shawn, and Noah, two granddaughters Tanya and Chloe, and his loving pet dogs, Perry and Polly.
David was born at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids on September 21, 1953 to Kay and Ed McNulty. He attended Linn-Mar and graduated from Kennedy High School in 1971. He then served in the US Navy for four years and was a Vietnam War Veteran. He then attended Kirkwood Community College and graduated from cooking school. On September 19, 1982, in Salt Lake City, Utah, he married Susan Clemons of Cedar Rapids. They were married for 20 years. David worked for many years as a cook. He was recently employed as a school bus driver for College Community Schools.
David was an awesome husband, son, father, grandfather, and brother, and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. David loved to cook . He was a Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed watching football, and loved to camp.
Military honors will be by VFW Post No 788.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for his family.

Sharon K. Luedtke

Sharon K. Luedtke Miller, 59, of Oliver Springs, TN., formerly of Marion and Winterhaven, FL. died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002 at her home of cancer. Graveside services at 3 PM on Monday at the Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Rev. Fran Griffeth will officiate. There will be no visitation. Cedar Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Herb Miller, a daughter, K. Epperson of Winterhaven, FL., a son, Chad Luedtke of Orlando, FL., four step children, Kurt Luedtke of Marion, John Luedtke of Ft. Meyers, FL., Jill Mrazek of Cedar Rapids and Kay Bernabe of New Braunfels, TX., a sister, Janice (Jinx) Tracy and her husband, Roger of Iowa City. She is also survived by two nieces, Courtney Tracy of Madison, Wis., Collyn Tracy of Iowa City and a great niece, Kyle Beranek of Iowa City. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Sharon was born on Sept. 13, 1942 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of George and Louise Petrak Bradley. She graduated from Marion High School in 1960. She married Jim Epperson in 1961. They were later divorced. Sharon then married Wally Luedtke in 1965. They moved to Winterhaven, FL. in 1979 and Wally died in 1995. She then married Herb Miller on Oct. 20, 2001 in Winterhaven. Sharon and Wally were former owners of the A&Ws; in the Marion, Cedar Rapids area from 1965 to 1978 and was very active in the A&W; Association. A memorial fund has been established in Sharon's name.

Basil L. Harris Sr

Basil L. 'Big Rock' Harris Sr., 81, of 1328 First ST. SW, died Saturday, March 2, 2002, in S. Luke's Hospital following a long illness. Services with military honors at 10 AM Tuesday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Gary Sneller of Cedar Christian Church officiating. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery . Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Monday and at the chapel after 9 AM on Tuesday.
Survivors include a son Basil Jr. of Cedar Rapids, three daughters Mary Miller and husband Larry of Atkins, Bonnie Fencl of Solon, and Grace Clinton and John Gordinier of Cedar Rapids, a sister Iris Waddilove and a brother Thurman Harris both of Cedar Rapids, fourteen grandchildren and thirty-four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers Archie, Arden, and Charles Jr., a sister Zelma Kasner, and three grandchildren, Richard Hathaway, and Christopher and Christine Fencl.
Basil was born March 21, 1920 in Blythedale, Missouri to Charles and Grace Moore Harris. He married Pearl N. Parmer on July 26, 1941, in Kahoka, Missouri. She died May 2, 1998. Basil was a foreman and worked in the stockroom at Cherry-Burrell for over 40 years. He was a member of Cedar Christian Church, U.A.W. Local 1024 where he had served as Vice President, Chief Steward, and on the negotiating team. He was a member of the Cedar Rapids softball Hall of Fame and had played fast pitch and slow pitch for several years. He served in the US Army during WW II. He enjoyed sports with his grandchildren.
Basil was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Basil's family would like to thank Dr. Charles Pruchno and the St. Luke's Staff on the 4th and 5th floors and intensive care for their special care of Basil.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
