Services for Debra L. Vastine, 39, Blue Grass, are 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Andrew's Church, Blue Grass. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park.

Visitation is 3 to 8 p.m. today at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, Davenport, and 9 a.m. to service time Thursday at the church.

Mrs. Vastine died Monday, April 16, 2001, at home after an extended illness.

Survivors include her husband, Joel; children, Christina Vastine, Davenport, and Timothy, Veronica and Anthony, all at home; and a sister, Cheryl Morgan, Wakonia, Minn.

Ruth Wilcox
Ruth M. Wilcox, 91, Davenport, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home.

Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Runge, Davenport. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park.

She was born Dec. 28, 1909, in Davenport. She married Ray Wilcox in 1930. He died in 1984.

Surviving are children, Viola Behrens, Elsie Burton, Rosella Mumm, Raymond, Louis and Warren, all of Davenport, Betty Johnson, High Point, N.C., Evelyn Bates, Sun City, Ariz.; 31 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren.

Ernest Veys
Services for Ernest C. Veys, 91, Iowa City, formerly of Moline, are 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, and 10 a.m. at Christ the King Church, Moline, where he was a member. Entombment is in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline.

Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with a Christian wake held at 5 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Veys died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

He was born Nov. 23, 1908, in Moline, the son of Gaston and Louise Thienpondt Veys. He married Rachel A. DeSmet June 25, 1935, in Moline. She died in 1980.

Mr. Veys was owner of the former Ernie's Market, Moline. He later was employed at the former DePoorter Cornelis Real Estate Agency, Moline.

Mr. Veys was a member of Moline Elks and president of Highland Business Association, Moline.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Ronald Fairchild, Iowa City; son and daughter-in-law, Maurie and Sue Veys, Edina, Minn.; grandchildren, Rebecca Graf and Randy, Rik, Brian and Megan Veys; and great-grandchildren, Kevin and Emily Graf. He was preceded in death by his sister, Gabriella.

Palmer Casey

Palmer Casey, 65, of 827 7th Ave., Fulton, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at Mercy Medical North, Clinton.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, Fulton. Burial is in Fulton Township cemetery . Visitation is 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.

He was born in Borden, Ind., to Emery and Geneva Bower Casey.

Surviving are his wife, Bonnie; daughters, Debra Weaver, House Springs, Mo., Melody Wilkinson, Thomson, Ill., Rose Graves, Fulton, Connie Frye and Theresa Casey, both of Pekin, Ind., and Pam McCutcheon and Christine McGuffey, both of Sellersburg, Ind.; sons, Randy, Fulton, Dan, Goose Lake, Iowa, Ronnie, Borden, and Wayne, Louisville, Ky.; 21 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Nona May, Charleston, Ind.; and brothers, Russell, Clarksville, Ind., Bobby, Borden, and Perry, Pekin.

Andrew Crews
Andrew Lawrence Crews, infant son of Roxanna and Jeffery Crews, Colona, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Arrangements are pending at Family Funeral Services, Colona.

Frances Golden
Frances Golden, 78, Kewanee, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at home.

Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee. Burial is in Pleasant View cemetery , Kewanee. Visitation is 10 a.m. to service time.

She was born in the Saxon community south of Kewanee. She married Edward Golden in 1941 in Kewanee. He died in 1988.

Survivors include daughters, Sharon Franklin, Mesa, Ariz., Beverly Moon, Kewanee, and Sue Sullivan, Mize, Miss.; six grandsons; two stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; two stepgreat-great-grandchildren; brothers, Marvin and Harlan Craig, and sisters, Murle Loible and Mabel Andris, all of Kewanee; and a brother-in-law, Robert Golden, Amana, Iowa.

L. Margaret Robertson
L. Margaret Robertson, 72, Cambridge, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Cambridge, where further arrangements are pending.

Cheryl Roets
Cheryl Ann Roets, 53, of 9922 136th St. W., Taylor Ridge, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at Trinity Medical Center West, Rock Island.

Services are 1 p.m. Tuesday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park cemetery .

Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

She was born Jan. 7, 1947, in Moline, the daughter of Gerald and Maggie Wise Woner. She married Greg Roets June 5, 1967, in East Moline.

She worked at the Rock Island Arsenal as an information-management specialist.

Cheryl enjoyed reading, hummingbirds, watching softball games and going to movies, and she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her mother, Maggie, East Moline; daughter and son-in-law, Amber and Christopher Thomas, Andalusia; son, John Roets, Lisle, Ill.; brother and his wife, Butch and Linda Woner, Moline; niece, Kelly Woner, Moline; and her fiancee, Neal Christianson, Taylor Ridge. She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald, and a brother, John.

Emileigh Nibaur
Emileigh H. Nibaur, 5-year-old daughter of Lori and Mark Nibaur, Bettendorf, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McGinnis, Chambers and Sass Funeral Home, Bettendorf, where further arrangements are pending.

Elsie Clere
Elsie S. Clere, 92, Rock Island, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island.

Arrangements are pending at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island.

Perry `Blackie'
Picco Sr.

Perry ``Blackie" Picco Sr., 78, Joliet, Ill., died Jan. 23, 2001, at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center, Joliet.

Services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church, Joliet. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today. Tezak Funeral Home, Joliet, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph School Foundation or Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home.

Perry retired from APSA, Rock Island, and the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant in 1981, and from Honeywell in 1989.

He was a World War II Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth; children, Elizabeth Jean, Perry Jr., Louis, Michael, Robert and Ronald; six grandchildren; sisters, Louise Bucciarelli, Mary McCalla and Jen Dubrovich; three sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Willard Foutch
Willard F. Foutch, 65, Moline, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., 1216 5th Ave., Moline. Burial is in Rose Lawn Memorial Estates, Moline.

Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today. Memorials may be made to the family in lieu of flowers.

Willard was born April 22, 1935, in Astoria, Ill., the son of Guy and Elva Lawver Foutch. He married Norma Roush Nov. 13, 1954, at Memorial Christian Church, Rock Island.

Willard was a retired musician. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a collector and loved music. He also loved his dog, Fifi.

Survivors (and spouses) include his wife, Norma; sons, Rod (Sharon) Foutch, Muscatine, Terry (Terri) Foutch, Moline, and Ronald Foutch, Rock Island; a daughter, Gail (Michael) Peel, Davenport; a brother, Willis (Nancy) Foutch, Moline; 11 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Doyla Dean.

Herbert Claeys
Herbert Claeys, 71, East Moline, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Arrangements are pending at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline.

Virginia Carle-Kelsey
Virginia Louise Carle-Kelsey, 74, of Milan died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial is in Oak Grove cemetery , Carthage, Ill.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.

Virginia was born March 11, 1926, in Craigsville, W.Va., the daughter of Alton and Vada Bell Ward Wilson. She married Howard Logan in 1946. He died in 1947. She later married Gerald W. Carle in July 1949 in Carthage. He died in September 1976.

She worked at various restaurants in the Quad-Cities area for many years before retiring in 1980 for health reasons. She attended New Life Fellowship Church, Moline. She was a life member of Rock Island VFW Post 1303 Ladies' Auxiliary. She enjoyed bingo, boats, country music and nature.

Survivors (and spouses) are daughters, Wilma (Michael) Williamson and Brenda (Darrell) Melton, both of Milan; sons, Louis (Robin) Logan, Moline, and George ``Bud" Carle, Milan; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Annabell (Arnold) Webb and Lavana (Earl) Conrad, both of Craigsville, andKay (Kirby) Jones, Belva, W.Va.; a brother, Estal ``Ed" (Evelyn) Wilson, Silvis; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter.

Jeffrey Lipford
Jeffrey L. Lipford, 42, of Coal Valley died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center, Chicago.

Visitation is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., 1216 5th Ave., Moline, where further arrangements are pending.

Joe Gowdy
Services for Joe S. Gowdy, 99, Aledo, are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Aledo, where he was a member. Burial will be in Aledo cemetery .

Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to the church or Juvenile Diabetes Research. Trimble Funeral Home, Aledo, is in charge of arrangements.

Joe died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at his home.

Joseph Scott Gowdy was born Feb. 10, 1901, near Kirkwood, Ill., to Fred W. and Belle (Gettemy) Gowdy. The family moved to Joy in 1902. He was a 1918 graduate of Joy High School and attended Iowa State University.

Joe married Cora Blanche Field Oct. 22, 1924, in Joy. She preceded him in death Sept. 6, 1985.

Joe was a lifelong farmer. He had lived near Burgess since 1944.

Joe is survived by a daughter, Laura Gowdy, Normal, Ill.; a son and daughter-in-law, Bill J. and Leitha Gowdy, Aledo; three grandchildren and their spouses, Douglas J. and Shari Gowdy, Aledo, Denise and Michael Clark, Aledo, and Anne and Tom Troop, Lewistown, Mont. Also surviving are 10 great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert; a sister, Elizabeth Stevens; and four brothers, James G., Fred Walker, Richard L. and William L. Gowdy.

Lorraine Jackson
Lorraine Jackson, 74, of Wyoming, Ill., formerly of Galva, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at Proctor Hospital, Peoria.

Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Rux Funeral Home, Galva. Burial is in the Galva cemetery .

Visitation is 2-4 p.m. Sunday. Memorials can be directed to the donor's choice.

Lorraine was born Feb. 24, 1926, in Galva to Walter and Alice Sall.

She had done housekeeping and various jobs in the Galva area.

Survivors (and spouses) include sons, Daren Sall, Cambridge, and Dennis (Barbara) Jackson, Bushnell, Ill.; a daughter, Jennifer (Richard) Clark, Wyoming, Ill.; 19 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley (Bernie) Jones, Pahrump, Nev. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, a brother, two sisters and a grandson.

Steven E. Youngquist
Steven E. Youngquist, 41, of Fort Collins, Colo., formerly of the Quad-Cities, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001.

Services were held Wednesday at Reager Funeral Home, Fort Collins. The body has been cremated. Local arrangements are pending. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the family.

He was the son of Edmund B. Youngquist of the Quad-Cities and Laverne Strandberg Youngquist of Colorado, formerly of the Quad-Cities.
