Elizabeth Haas
Elizabeth Suzanne Haas, 44, of Apex, N.C., died Friday, July 26, 2002, at her home.
Born Aug. 17, 1957, in Fort Madison, she was the daughter of Donald J. and Elizabeth I. Horn Haas. On Sept. 16, 1989, she married James W. Brown in Fort Madison.
Mrs. Haas worked with her husband in his research laboratory at North Carolina State University in Raleigh.
She was a 1975 graduate of Fort Madison High School. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa in 1979 and her master's degree in 1989 from Ohio State University in molecular biology.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Phillip of Apex; her parents of rural Fort Madison; her paternal grandmother, Gertrude Haas of Fort Madison; three sisters, Marianna Haas of Muscatine, Annette Hanenberger of Fort Madison and Joanne Haas of Minneapolis; two brothers, Joseph Haas of Milwaukee and Frank Haas of Bingen, Wash.; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother and her grandparents.
A memorial Mass for Mrs. Haas will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Sts. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church. The family will meet with friends immediately after the Mass in the parish hall. A private burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Sts. Mary and Joseph Church.

Harold Jackson
Harold Jackson, 81, of Hamilton, Ill., died Friday afternoon, Aug. 8, 2003, at Keokuk Area Hospital.
Arrangements are pending at Lamporte Funeral Home in Hamilton.
Jesse David Ward
The funeral service for Mr. Jesse David Ward, 79, of Gainesville, Mo. and formerly Middletown, who died August 7, 2003 will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Elliott Chapel, New London. Father Gerald Stouvenel will officiate. Interment with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7641 of New London will be held in Pleasant Grove Cemetery , Danville. Visitation will begin at noon today at Elliott Chapel and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials have been established for St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Ozark Senior Citizen's and St. William's Catholic Church.

John Webb
Deacon John H. Webb, 61, of West Burlington, died at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2003, at his home. Arrangements are pending at Prugh Funeral Service.
Anna May
Anna M. May, 91, of Keokuk, died at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003, at Montebello Health Care Center in Hamilton, Ill.
Born Jan. 17, 1912, in Fort Madison, she was the daughter of Theodore G. and Theresa M. Stolmeier Kuhlmeier. On Dec. 28, 1937, she married Roy E. May in Fort Madison. He died July 15, 1995.
Mrs. May lived in Keokuk most of her life. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Keokuk and the Ladies of Charity. For 12 years, she and her husband traveled cross country on long trips in a 1950 Kaiser Vagabond to various car shows and collected many trophies.
Survivors include two sons, Larry L. May of Montrose and Dale E. May of Salem, Va.; one daughter, Kathleen French of Keokuk; six grandchildren; one great–grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Friday at Greaves Mortuary in Keokuk, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. with a Christian vigil at 7 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. May will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at All Saints Catholic Church. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for All Saints Catholic Church.
Clarence Stevens
Clarence "Shorty" Stevens, 78, of Warsaw, Ill., died at 8:25 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Ill.
Born Aug. 26, 1925, in Pekin, Ill., he was the son of James Curtis and Anna Breese Stevens. On Aug. 26, 1944, he married Dorothy Mary Margaret Rosenboom in Warsaw. She preceded him in death on July 27, 1995.
Mr. Stevens was a retired farmer.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Warsaw where he served on various boards and committees. He enjoyed caring for his yard, gardening, fishing and going to his granddaughters ball games. He loved softball and enjoyed being a hired man for Bobby Dean Kaiser.
Survivors include one daughter, Carole A. Nelson of Englewood, Colo.; two sons, Mike Stevens of Mead, Colo., and Curtis Stevens of Warsaw; eight grandchildren; 11 great–grandchildren; and one sister, Doris Thompson of Keokuk.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lamporte Funeral Home in Warsaw, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Stevens will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Trinity United Methodist Church in Warsaw, with the Rev. Mark Horn officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery
in Warsaw.
A memorial has been established for Trinity United Meth–odist Church in Warsaw.
Mary Lou Titus
The Graveside Committal Service and Inurnment for Mrs. Mary Lou Titus, 67, will be 1:00 PM this afternoon at the Aspen Grove Cemetery
with Reverend Richard A. Purcell officiating. Mrs. Titus has been cremated, as per her request. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for Blessing Hospice of Carthage, IL.
Christopher Allen Simmons
The Memorial Service for Mr. Christopher Allen Simmons, 33, will be 1:00 PM Thursday, August 19, at River of Life Ministries in Cedar Rapids with Pastor Steve Irwin officiating. Mr. Simmons has been cremated, as per his request. A memorial has been established.
Mildred V. Richcreek
The Funeral Service for Mrs. Mildred V. Richcreek, 88, will be 7:00 PM Thursday, August 19, in the Chapel of the Hass–Thielen Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Dennis G. Tevis officiating. Visitation will be Monday, August 23, at the Hillside West Funeral Home in Wichita from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Another funeral service will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 24 at the Bethel Baptist Church in Wichita with Pastor Ted Swope officiating. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery
in Wichita. A memorial has been established to the Bethel Baptist Church.
Constance Nightingale
Constance A. Nightingale, 64, of Carthage, Ill., died of cancer Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, at her home.
Born Nov. 20, 1938, in Quincy, Ill., she was the daughter of Bertrum and Althea Loos Merker. On June 22, 1957, she married James R. Nightingale in Mendon, Ill.
Mrs. Nightingale worked at Gardner–Denver Co. in Quincy and then at Lurene's Gift Shop. She later worked in the dentist office of Dr. Richard Georges for 33 years.
She was a 1956 graduate of Unity High School of Mendon. In September 1958, she and her husband made their home in Carthage, where she lived the rest of her life. She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), where she was active in the Lydia Group of CWF.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, David James of Katy, Texas, and Mark Charles of Ocala, Fla.; four grandchildren; her mother of Quincy; one brother, Terry B. Merker of Rockford, Ill.; one sister, Melody L. Jochem of Quincy; one sister–in–law; three nephews; and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Nightingale will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church in Carthage. Burial will be in Moss Ridge Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for First Christian Church of Carthage and Hancock Blessing Hospice.
Garry Mehaffy
Garry W. Mehaffy, 53, of Burlington, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, at his home.
Born Nov. 18, 1950, in Bur–lington, he was the son of Lewis and Glenna Rowe Mehaffy.
Mr. Mehaffy worked as an electrical tester for General Electric for 30 years. He worked in radar maintenance in Germany while serving in the Army during the Vietnam War.
He attended Burlington High School. He was a member of AMA and ATV Association. He enjoyed motocross and quad racing, hunting, fishing, camping, and mushroom and wild berry picking.
Survivors include one son, Scott Allen Mehaffy of Burlington; one daughter, Megan Anne Mehaffy of Burlington; his parents of Burlington; one brother, Dennis C. Mehaffy of Burlington; three sisters, Debbie Buechel and Diane Buechel, both of New London, Kathleen Smith of Sperry, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m.
A celebration of life will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Lunning Chapel. Following services, Mr. Mehaffy's body will be cremated. Burial will be at a later date in Long Creek Cemetery , rural Danville.
A memorial has been established.
Charles Reed
Charles E. Reed, 93, of LaHarpe, Ill., formerly of Lomax, Ill., died at 12:10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, at the Alternatives Home in LaHarpe.
Born Oct. 15, 1909, in Webster, Ill., he was the son of Creed and Martha Darnell Reed. On June 11, 1932, he married Elsie Logan in Carthage, Ill. She died Feb. 4, 1997.
Mr. Reed farmed and then worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for 37 years before his retirement in 1972.
Survivors include his close friends, Edna Markey and Sonja Strange, both of Lomax; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, three sisters, five brothers, a half–brother and a half–sister.
Visitation will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe. The family will receive friends Wednesday at 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
The funeral for Mr. Reed will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Greg Pratt officiating. Burial will be in the Crane Cemetery
near Lomax.
Memorials have been established for the Alternatives Home, Lomax–Carman Senior Citizens and the Lomax Christian Church.
Daryl Schroeder
Daryl Schroeder, 73, of Prairie Ridge Care Center and a former resident of Mediapolis Care Facility died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, at Prairie Ridge.
Mr. Schroeder was born May 16, 1931. He has no known family or survivors.
Burial for Mr. Schroeder will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Kossuth Cemetery
in Mediapolis.
