Arrangements are pending at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., 1216 5th Ave., Moline.

Elizabeth Swanson
Elizabeth J. Swanson, 79, of 1504 26th Ave., Moline, died Friday, April 27, 2001, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Services are 11 a.m., Monday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial is in National cemetery , Arsenal Island.

Visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church, Moline, or to Arrowhead Ranch, Coal Valley.

Elizabeth Dingeldein was born Nov. 14, 1921, in Rock Island, the daughter of Philip and Evelyn Mills Dingeldein. She married Ralph E. Swanson Feb. 26, 1949, in Rock Island.

Mrs. Swanson retired from the Rock Island County Tax Assessor's Office in 1984. She previously had worked at the International Harvester, East Moline Works.

She was a member of Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church, Moline, and the Trinity Medical Center Auxiliary. In earlier years, she had been involved with Moline schools' PTA. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed sports and playing bridge.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph; sons and daughters-in-law, Gregory and Kate Swanson, Rock Island, and David and Margaret Swanson, Eagan, Minn.; grandchildren, James, Thomas and Molly Swanson; brother, John Dingeldein and his wife, Rosalyn, Rock Island; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Swanson, Moline.

Area

Helen Aleshire
Helen Aleshire, 89, Liberty Village, Kewanee, formerly of Galesburg, Mount Sterling and Clayton, Ill., died Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at Genesis East, Davenport.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Church of Peace, rural Kewanee. Burial is in South Side cemetery , Clayton. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Rux Funeral Home, Kewanee. Memorials to any local women's shelter.

She was born Feb. 11, 1912, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Barnett Oaka and Ollie Rash Crabtree Rentz. She married Omer Shank. He preceded her in death. She married James Aleshire. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughters, Nancy Bettinghaus, Waukesha, Wis., Iris Currier, Annawan, and Ilene Aleshire, Fort Worth, Texas; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Nellie Dykeman
Nellie Dykeman, 88, Toulon Health Care Center, formerly of Elmira, Ill., died Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at the center.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Rux Funeral Home, Kewanee. Burial is in Evergreen Memory Gardens, Kewanee. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.

She was born in Canton, Ill., to Calvin and Mae Yocum. She married Chalmer ``Shorty" Dykeman in 1933. He died in 2000.

Surviving are sons, Clint, Port Charlotte, Fla., and Fred, Sycamore, Ill.; daughter, Kathy Wilson, Des Plaines, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marie, Franklin Grove, Ill.

Richard Mason
Graveside committal services for Richard E. Mason, 53, of North Platte, Neb., are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Andover cemetery , Andover, Ill. There is no visitation. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Cambridge, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Mason died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at Great Plains Medical Center, North Platte. Cremation rites were accorded in Nebraska, where a memorial service was held in December.

Mr. Mason was born Oct. 19, 1947, in Clinton, Iowa, to Warren and Phyllis Brodd Mason.

Surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Carol Mason, Sidney, Neb.; foster sons, Larry Hovey Jr., stationed with the U.S. Navy in Lemoore, Calif., Chris Voichahoske, Columbus, Neb., and Leslie John Nichols, Lincoln, Neb.; a niece and four nephews.

Gary Nimrick
Gary Allen Nimrick Sr., 41, of Kewanee, died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at Kewanee Hospital.

Services are 1:30 p.m. Monday at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee. Burial is in Pleasant View cemetery , Kewanee. Visitation is noon to service time Monday.

Gary was born Oct. 3, 1959, in Kewanee, the son of Donald and Alta Johnson Nimrick.

He had been employed at J.B. Rombach Inc., Neponset, and, for the last three years, at Pines Trailer Corp, Kewanee.

Surviving are his sons, Victor and Gary Jr., both of Kewanee; brothers, Jack, Mike and Donald, Kewanee; sisters, Donna Bushnell and Kathy Crist, both of Kewanee, and Bonnie Nimrick, Davenport; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ron and Larry.

Kennard Thomas
Kennard R. Thomas, 87, a resident of Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton, formerly of Erie, died Friday, April 27, 2001, at the nursing home.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Albany United Methodist Church, Albany, Ill., where he was a member. Burial is in Erie cemetery , Erie. Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Fulton Chapel of Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.

He was born March 12, 1914, to Glenn and Carrie (Dennison) Thomas. He married Ellen L. Peterson Nov. 24, 1937. She died March 29, 1993.

Survivors (and spouses) include his daughter, Carolyn (William) Lamp, Charlotte, Iowa; sons, Clifford Thomas, Erie, Richard (Joyce) Thomas, Albany; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Thomas, Western Springs, Ill.

Richard Bagley
Richard Bagley, 49, Davenport, died Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at home.

Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Davenport. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.

Further arrangements are pending.

Clarence Bergheger Sr.
Clarence William Bergheger Sr., 84, Keokuk, Iowa, formerly of Muscatine, died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at his home.

Graveside services are 1 p.m. Monday at New Boston cemetery , New Boston, Ill. Visitation is 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at DeJong's Funeral Home, Keokuk.

He was born July 1, 1916, in Bowling Green, Mo., the son of Henry and Mary Bergheger. He married Wanda Wright in 1937 in Bowling Green.

Surviving are his children, Clarence, Kenny, and Linda Arnold, Keokuk, Paul, Colona, Joe, Milan, Judy Powell, New London, Mo., Bill Hagg, Moline, Connie Moore, East Moline, and David, Kinderhook, Ill.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Donnie, three brothers and a sister.

James Bush
James R. Bush, 88, Bettendorf, formerly of Danville, Ill., died April 26, 2001, at Genesis.

Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Asbury United Methodist Church, Bettendorf, with visitation 9:30 a.m. to service time. McGinnis, Chambers & Sass, Bettendorf, is handling local arrangements.

Masonic services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pape Memorial Home, Danville. Burial is in Sunset Memorial Park, Danville.

Surviving are his wife, Svea; children, Karen, Plymouth, Ind., and James Jr., Bettendorf; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two foster daughters.

Naomi Goin
Services for Naomi Goin, 80, Davenport, are 12:30 p.m. Monday in All Faith Chapel at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in Inland cemetery , Bennett, Iowa. Visitation is 10 a.m. to service time.

She died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at Genesis, Davenport.

She was born Nov. 2, 1920, in Afton, Iowa. She married Albert Goin Sept. 9, 1939, in Afton. He died in 1979.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen Peterson, Blue Grass, Iowa; a son, Joseph, Davenport, five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded by a sister, Sue.

Helen Jacobs
Helen C. Jacobs, 91, died Sunday, April 22, 2001, in Bonita Springs, Fla.

Services are 1 p.m. Monday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park.

She was born March 15, 1910, in Dubuque, Iowa, to James and Ella Flury. She married Lawrence Jacobs July 7, 1929, in Davenport. He died in 1987.

Survivors include a son, Lawrence E. Jacobs, and daughter, Patricia Korch, both of Bonita Springs; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Shirley `Pat' Jacobs Korch
Shirley P. ``Pat" Jacobs Korch, 70, Naples, Fla., died Thursday, April 26, 2001.

Services are 1 p.m. Monday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

She was born May 7, 1930, in Davenport. She married Donald Korch Sr. July 11, 1949, in Davenport. He preceded her in death.

Surviving are sons, Donald, Bettendorf, Bruce, Davenport; daughters, Sherry Carter and Tammy Biittner, both of Davenport; brother, Lawrence Jacobs, Bonita Springs, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Everett Long
Services for Everett Newton Long, 62, Davenport, are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Weerts, Davenport. Burial is in National cemetery , Arsenal Island. Visitation is 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Mr. Long died Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at the VA Medical Center, Knoxville, Iowa.

He married Shirley Dixon in 1960. He married Sharon Greenwald-Schafer in 1974. She died in 1996.

Surviving are daughter, Karen Long, and stepdaughter, Suzie Lafler, both of Cedar Rapids; sons, Wendell and Michael, both of Davenport; grandson, David; and sister, Irene McCoy, Moberly, Mo.

LeRoy Scott
LeRoy Scott, 72, Davenport, died Friday, April 27, 2001, at Trinity North Medical Center, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.

Robert Petrilli
Services for Robert S. Petrilli, 70, of Rock Island, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at St. James Lutheran Church, Rock Island. Burial will be in National cemetery , Arsenal Island.

Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the church or to the Illowa Lutheran Coalition.

Mr. Petrilli died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Robert was born Sept. 27, 1930, in Rock Island, the son of Santonio and Hazel Couch Petrilli. He married Joanne Lindquist March 29, 1959, in Rock Island.

He worked at the Riverdale plant of Alcoa Inc. for 42 years. He retired in 1992.

Mr. Petrilli was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Rock Island, and the Alcoa Retirees.

Bob enjoyed fishing, cooking and duck hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Joanne; daughters and sons-in-law, Janis and Jim Diamond, Davenport, Susan and Joe Basala, Bettendorf; son, Kevin Petrilli, and his fiancee, Rene Wyant, Rock Island; grandchildren, Codey Petrilli, Mitchell and Drake Diamond, Rachel and Alex Basala and Savon Wyant; and a nephew, Craig Petrilli, Coal Valley. His parents and three brothers preceded him in death.

Moline

Ruth Brandt
Ruth M. Brandt, 93, Moline, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at Illini Hospital, Silvis.

Arrangements are pending at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline.

Guy Johnson
Private services for Guy E. Johnson, 79, Moline, are Wednesday at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.

Mr. Johnson died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

He was born March 4, 1921, in Moline, the son of Clarence and Ruth Schell Johnson. He married Elizabeth Thompson April 11, 1942, in Geneseo.

He was manager of the printing department at Modern Woodmen of America, retiring in 1981. He served in the U.S. Army in the 701 Military Police Battalion for 3« years. He enjoyed his family, his pets and fishing.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth Johnson; daughter, Jill Clearman, Moline; son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Marcia Johnson, Port Townsend, Wash.; granddaughters, Caressa Clearman, Coal Valley, and Julia Clearman, Moline; and grandson, Bret Johnson, Bend, Ore. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
