Roy Bieri, 78, of 1616 Davis Ave., Nichols, Iowa, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.

Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, Muscatine. Burial is in Nichols cemetery with military honors by Lone Tree American Legion Post 457.

Visitation is 10 a.m. to service time.

He was born July 28, 1922, in Lamar, Mo., to Jake and Lottie Patterson Bieri. He married Betty Irene Elder Dec. 29, 1948, in Muscatine. She died in 2000.

He retired from Amoco Oil Co.

Survivors include a son, Gordon, Davenport; a daughter, Debra Smith, Tipton, Iowa; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. He was preceded by a brother, Wayne.

Opal Blevins
Opal Blevins, 84, Davenport, died Feb. 18, 2001, at Country House, Davenport.

Services are 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Runge, Davenport. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today.

Opal married Orval Blevins July 4, 1936, in Violet Hills, Ark. He preceded her in death Feb. 17, 1999.

Surviving are children, Janet Hopper, Reed Springs, Mo., Fred, Davenport, Loretta Harmon, Eldridge, Iowa, Dwayne and Ronnie, both of Davenport, and Michael, Las Vegas; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dale Ballard, Belleville, Ill.

Suzanne Colleen Barry Bobula
A Mass of Christian burial for Suzanne Colleen Barry Bobula, 53, Madison, Wis., will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport.

Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. today at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, Davenport, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Burial is in Mount Calvary cemetery .

She died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at home.

Survivors include her husband, James; children, Holly and Melissa ``Missy, " both of Madison, and twins, Jenny and Jeff, at home; her mother, Anne Barry, Davenport; sister, Jane Barry, New Jersey; and brother, William Michael Barry, Colorado.

Helen Caster
Helen L. Caster, 85, Davenport, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Davenport Good Samaritan Center.

Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Further arrangements are pending.

Donald Farus
Donald V. Farus, 76, of Davenport, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport.

Leif Morey
Leif T. Morey, infant son of Daniel and Torrie Morey, LeClaire, Iowa, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City.

Memorial services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport. Visitation is 1:30 p.m. to service time. Memorials to the family.

He was born Jan. 13, 2001, at Genesis East, Davenport.

Survivors include his parents; brothers, Chance and Dante Morey, both at home; and grandparents, Linda Fitzgerald, Bettendorf, Lorin Fitzgerald, Enid, Okla., and Sherrilynn Morey, Princeton, Iowa.

William Thompson
William J. Thompson, 66, Rock Island, former lifetime resident of Davenport, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at Rosewood Care Center, Moline.

Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, where further arrangements are pending.

Willie `James' Green
Willie ``James" Green, 61, formerly of Rock Island, passed away Monday, April 23, 2001.

Services will be May 2 at Shiloh Baptist Church, Homer, La. Memorial Funeral Home, Homer, is in charge of arrangements. The phone number is (318) 927-2439. Orr's Mortuary, Rock Island, handled local arrangements.

He was born Sept. 8, 1939, in Homer, La. James moved to the Quad-Cities in 1963. In December 1996, James retired from John Deere Cylinder Division, Moline, after 33 years of service. He then relocated to his birthplace of Homer, La., with his wife, Ruby Jewel, of 35 years.

James attended Southern University, Baton Rouge, La., and graduated from Black Hawk College, Moline, as a journeyman electrician. James served in the U.S. Army's Special Forces Unit during the Vietnam War.

He also was a member of the Tri-City Consistory 82 and performed numerous electrical services throughout the community.

Those who fondly cherish his memory include his loving wife, Ruby Jewel Green, devoted children: LaRussia Yellock, Cartersville, Ga., Prudence Green, Lawrenceville, Ga., and Mr. and Mrs. James Christopher Green, Dallas, Texas; brothers, Thomas L. Green, Taylor Ridge, Lester B. Green, Homer, La., and Jethro Green Jr., Bashtrop, La.; sisters, Emma Hilliard, Homer, Louvester Moore, Homer, Lillie Bernard, St. Paul, Minn., Geneva Smith, St. Paul, Minn., Eliza Smith, Dallas, Texas, and Mary Washington, Homer; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. James was preceded in death by his mother, Irene Wafer Green, his father, Jethro Green Sr. and his sister, Clarice McQueen.

James' loving and compassionate spirit will be missed by all who knew him.

Edith Cooper
Edith M. Cooper, 89, Moline, died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Services are 1 p.m. Monday at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline. Visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Arrangements are pending.

Eva Horde
Eva E. Horde, 83, Moline, died Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at her home.

Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. The Rev. Jerry Helms, Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, Moline, will officiate. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.

Visitation is one hour before the services. Memorials may be made to Illinois Heart Association.

The former Eva Henkle was born Feb. 18, 1918, in Appanoose County, Iowa, the daughter of Jess and Mable (Freeborn) Henkle. She married Harold D. Horde Sr. Sept. 3, 1935, in Centerville, Iowa. He died Aug. 14, 1991.

She was a cook at various Moline restaurants, including the former Tower Restaurant, Plantation, County Cousin, and Harold's on the Rock. She enjoyed cooking, camping, and sewing.

Eva is survived by a son, Gerald Horde, Moline; six grandchildren, Rhonda Smith, Delbert Horde, Lisa Kean, Teresa Wilson, Thomas Horde and Timothy Horde; six great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Theodore and Loretta Henkle, Seymour, Ind. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Harold D. ``Don" Horde Jr.

Carl `Russell' Londberg Sr.
Additional survivors for Carl ``Russell" Londberg Sr., 79, Moline, are a stepsister and her husband, Evelyn and Eugene Hagberg of Minneapolis, Minn.

Memorial services are 11 a.m. Monday at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island, with visitation 10 a.m. to service time.

Russell died April 24, 2001.

Tony Prosen
Services for Tony F. Prosen, 89, formerly of East Moline, are 9 a.m. Saturday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Rapids City cemetery .

Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Prosen died Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospital, Galesburg.

He was born Nov. 14, 1911, in Biwabik, Minn., the son of Anton and Mary (Brule) Prosen. He married Frances J. Osgard Oct. 10 1933. She died Sept. 1, 1990.

He was a brakeman for the former Rock Island Lines. He was a life member of the former Moline Moose Lodge 235 and the former East Moline Eagles 2007.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dwayne and Judith Prosen, Atlanta, Ga.; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Angela Prosen, Julia Granell and Rose Olson, all of East Moline. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Toni Jean Strasser, and a grandson, Robert Prosen.

Florence `Jackie' Timper
Funeral services for Florence E. ``Jackie" Timper, 81, Silvis, are 10 a.m. Saturday at Homewood Evangelical Free Church, Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Memorials may be made to her church.

Mrs. Timper died Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at Illini Hospital, Silvis.

Florence Jack was born Jan. 30, 1920, in East Moline, the daughter of Ernest and Mayvorite (Rice) Jack. She married Tony Comsek, Sept. 1, 1973. He died July 9, 1993. She married George Timper, Oct. 8, 1994, in Moline.

She retired in 1980 as an accountant from the cost department at John Deere Administration. Jackie was on the board of directors at the Deere Harvester Credit Union for 13 years, was a member of the Moline Elks and enjoyed travel. She enjoyed bowling, golf and water-skiing in earlier days.

Jackie is survived by her husband George; brothers, Harris Jack, Edgington, Ralph Jack, Paso Robles, Calif., Ernest Jack and Harvey Jack both of Silvis.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Lanore Adams.

Blanche Geiger
Blanche Isadore Geiger, 99, of Elizabeth, Ill., formerly of Hanover, Ill., died April 26, 2001, at the Elizabeth Nursing Home.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Hanover. Burial is in Evergreen cemetery , Hanover. Visitation is 9:30 a.m. to service time Saturday.

She was born April 20, 1902, in Blanding, Ill., the daughter of Albert and Ida Francke. She married William Geiger Sept. 14, 1933, in Galena, Ill. He died July 26, 1980.

Survivors (and spouses) are a son, Alvin Geiger, Tampa, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Patsy Geiger, Hanover; granddaughters, Suzanne (Scott) Taylor, Bozeman, Mon., and Molly (Jim) Ingraffia, Chicago; great-granddaughter, Molly Taylor. Her parents, husband, son, Nelson Geiger, a brother, Ralph Francke and a sister, Louisa Frnacke, preceded her in death.

Charles `Chuck' Philhower
Charles `Chuck' Philhower, 69, Kewanee, died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at home.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee. Burial is in Pleasant View cemetery .

Visitation is 6-8 tonight. Memorials to Disabled Veterans.

He was born Sept. 22, 1931, in Bradford, Ill., to Guy and Mamie Besset Philhower. He married Beverly Moon July 18, 1958, in Bradford.

He worked at the former Kewanee Manufacturing and then Kewanee Corp., retiring in 1986. He enjoyed fishing, coin collecting, clocks and country music.

Survivors include sons, Bill and Doug, both of Kewanee; a daughter, Christy Harbin, Kewanee; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, two brothers and three grandchildren.

Robert Smith
Robert L. Smith, 62, of 369 E. 1670 St., Galva, formerly of Knoxville, Ill., died Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at his home.

Services are 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, Knoxville. Burial is in Gilson, Ill., cemetery . Visitation is 12:30 p.m. to service time.

He was born April 2, 1939, in Peoria, Ill., the son of Ernest and Ruth Louise Jones Smith. He married Kathleen Carlson Dec. 23, 1966, in Galva.

He worked for various auto body companies in the Galesburg area. He last worked for Wyoming Motors, Wyoming, Ill.

Survivors include his wife; daughter, Kristine Smith, Galva; stepfather and stepmother, Floyd and Jolene Becker, Galesburg; and half-sister, Lucinda VanWynsburge, Geneseo. He was preceded by his parents.

Virginia Weekley
Virginia E. Weekley, 94, of Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at the nursing home

Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Morrison Chapel of Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Burial is in Riverside cemetery , Prophetstown. Visitation is 1 p.m. to service time Saturday.

Mrs. Weekley was born July 27, 1906, in Morrison, the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Shear Bailey. She married Verne B. Weekley June 22, 1927, in Morrison. He died Dec. 13, 1985.

Survivors (and spouses) are her nephews, Milton Kennedy, Browns Mills, N.J., Glenn (Gaye) Bailey, Normal, Ill., and David (Kathleen) Bailey, Moline. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Bernice Kennedy; brother, Rutherford Bailey; and two nephews.
