Virginia L. Carlton, 60, Davenport, died April 25, 2001 at home.

Services are 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Burial is in Oakdale cemetery , Davenport. Visitation is 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. today.

She was born Jan. 7, 1941, in Guide Rock, Neb.

Surviving are daughters, Ellen Cook, Angela and Tonya Carlton, all of Davenport; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Norma Greiser, Davenport, Lila Merten, Superior, Neb., and Viola Remmereid, Nebraska; brothers, Robert Seefeld, Davenport, Joseph Seefeld, Omaha, Neb., John Seefeld, Tucson, Ariz. and Homer Seefeld, Nelson, Neb.

James Drummond
Services for James G. Drummond, 72, Donahue, Iowa, are 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Long Grove.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. today at the church with a 7:30 p.m. vigil service, and 10 a.m. to service time. Burial is in St. Ann's cemetery , with military rites by Donahue American Legion. Arrangements by Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, Davenport.

He died April 25, 2001, at home.

Surviving are his wife, Helen; children, Jacalyn Bender and Joseph, both of Long Grove, Dean, Donahue, Edward, Davenport, Jennifer Henningsen, DeWitt; and six grandchildren.

Mildred Fischer
Memorial services for Mildred V. Fischer, 89, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at Runge Mortuary, Davenport., with visitation from noon to service time. Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at Buckhorn (Waterford) cemetery , just west of Maquoketa, Iowa, on Iowa 64.

Mrs. Fischer died April 24, 2001, at Marigold Healthcare Center, Galesburg.

Naomi Goin
Naomi P. Goin, 80, of Davenport, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2001, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.

Roy Johnson
Services for Roy W. Johnson, 87, Davenport, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park cemetery .

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to service time. Memorials may be made to American Lung Association.

Mr. Johnson died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.

Roy Walter Johnson was born Oct. 29, 1913, to John and Marie Hoglund Johnson in DeKalb, Ill. He married Mary Ann Jansen April 3, 1937, in Davenport.

He was affiliated with Pepsi Coloa and A.D. Huising for 69 years and owned and had operated the Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. of Davenport since 1995.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, dancing and playing bridge.

He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Izak Walton League, the Elks and served on the board of directors for Wis-Pak in Watertown, Wis. for seven years.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; daughter, Barbara Polios, Moline; son, William Johnson, Bettendorf; four grandchildren, Julia, Barbara, Michael and Todd; a great-granddaughter, Sydney; and a sister, Evelyn Johnson, Rock Island. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers. May they rest in peace.

Everett Long
Everett N. Long, 62, Davenport, died Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at the VA Medical Center in Knoxville, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Sunday. Further arrangements are pending.

Gladys Krug Read
Gladys Krug Read, 85, Muscatine, Iowa, formerly of Elizabeth, Ill., died April 26, 2001, at Lutheran Home, Muscatine.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elizabeth, with visitation 9 a.m. to service time. Burial is in Elizabeth cemetery . Arrangements are by Law-Jones, Savanna, Ill.

She married Walter Krug. He died in 1970. She married Earl Read. He died in 1986. Surviving are a son, Wayne Krug, Wilton, Iowa; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; three sisters and two brothers.

Carl Graves
Carl M. Graves, 57, Rock Island, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hodgson Funeral Home Ltd., Rock Island. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Military rites will be conducted by Milan American Legion Post 569/200 and VFW Post 1303.

Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to the family.

Carl was born March 31, 1943, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Marion and Ollie Blair Graves. He married Sue Estes Oct. 5, 1962, in Silvis.

Mr. Graves had been employed at Deere & Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1994 as a robotic welder. He and his wife owned Creative Clothing & Embroidery in Rock Island.

He was a member of UAW Local 434 and John Deere Bowling League. He was very patriotic and union-oriented.

He was an Army PFC veteran.

He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, computers and fishing. He was very devoted to his family.

Survivors include his wife, Sue; daughters, Missy Graves DeBord and her friend, Merle Cooksey, Rock Island, Tracy and Jeff Stigers, Davenport; a son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Evelyn Graves, Davenport; seven grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Thompson, DeKalb, Texas, and Mary Etta Daniel, Guthrie, Okla.

Hazel Schafer
Hazel J. Schafer, 82, Moline, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Graveside services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Rock Island Memorial Park cemetery . There is no visitation. Memorials may be made to South Park Presbyterian Church, Rock Island, where she was a member, or to the American Cancer Society. Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island, is in charge of arrangements.

Hazel was born July 13, 1918, in Rock Island, to William J. and Ida M. VandenBossche Schafer.

She graduated from Augustana College. She had worked as supervisor for the state of Illinois Department of Public Aid in Chicago for many years. She retired in 1984 and returned to Moline.

She was an enthusiastic supporter of the Putnam Museum and the Quad City Botanical Center. She loved gardening.

Survivors include her brother, William D. Schafer, Rock Island; and 10 nieces and nephews. Her parents and three sisters preceded her in death.

Rudy Massarolo
Rudy Massarolo, 74, of 538 42nd Ave., East Moline, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, in Centerville, Iowa.

Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Full Gospel Church of God, East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.

Visitation is from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Memorials may be made to the church or to the family.

Rudy was born May 1, 1926, in Chicago, the son of Ray and Pauline Karkella Massarolo. He married Angeline Laferrara Dec. 9, 1949, in Moline.

He was employed as a punch operator for International Harvester, retiring in 1991, after 35 years.

He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping with his friends.

Survivors include his wife, Angeline; daughter and son-in-law, Pauline and Steve Lybarger, East Moline; sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny and Phyllis of East Moline, George and Yoko of Japan, Charles and Charlene of Colona, and Randy of Bloomington, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Beverly Chapman
Beverly Chapman, 74, of 940 Crosstown Ave., Silvis, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at Forest Hill Health Care, East Moline, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.

Graveside services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mount Maria cemetery , Hillsdale. There is no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may go to Indian Trails Pow Wow, Colona, to further the awareness and education of future generations of our Native American heritage. Schroder Mortuary, Silvis, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Feb. 1, 1926, in Beloit, Wis., the daughter of Leonard and Nettie Reimer Parker.

She had lived and worked most of her life in and around the Quad-Cities area, last working at the Nook Restaurant and for Murphy Brothers, East Moline.

Survivors include a sister, Doris Parker, and a brother, Frank Parker, both of Beloit, Wis., and several nieces and nephews.

Raymond Solomon
Raymond Solomon, 67, Coal Valley, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at home.

Further arrangements are pending at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley.

Among survivors is his wife, Carol.

Virginia Graham Boruff
Virginia Graham Boruff, 82, of Aledo, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at her home.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo. The Rev. Carl Stoldt of the College Avenue Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Aledo cemetery . Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where memorials may be left to the College Avenue Presbyterian Church or the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She was born May 12, 1918, in Aledo, the only child of Paul and Francis Smull Graham. She was valedictorian of the Aledo High School Class of 1936 and graduated from the University of Illinois. She married her beloved husband John on May 17, 1947, in Aledo. He died Jan. 10, 1981. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.

She was active in local Republican politics for many years, a member of the Women's Republican Club, the DAR, University of Illinois Alumni Association, Oak View Country Club and a lifelong member of the College Avenue Presbyterian Church. She was currently serving on the Youth Services Bureau and the City Zoning Board. Virginia served on the Mercer County Board of Supervisors, filling out the term of her late husband. She was also a member of the Mercer County VFW Post 1571 Auxiliary, Mercer County Hospital Auxiliary and lifetime member of the Mercer County YMCA.

For most of her life, she was an avid golfer, loved playing bridge and was interested in art. She was actively involved in farm management for many years. For the past several years, she wintered in Venice, Fla. Of most importance to her were other people, especially her immediate family, and she deeply treasured her six beloved grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by her family, friends and the community.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Sharon Boruff, Aledo, and Paul and Kim Boruff, Raleigh, N.C.; six grandchildren, Philip Boruff, Tucson, Ariz., Hannah Boruff, a student in Boca Raton, Fla., Sarah Boruff, Aledo, and John, Matthew and Julie Boruff, all of Raleigh, N.C. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and infant daughter Julie.

Ollous `Doodle' Daggett
Services for Ollous ``Doodle" Daggett, 78, of Viola, formerly of Boden, are 10 a.m. Saturday at Family Funeral Services, Viola. Burial is in Viola cemetery , with military rites by Viola American Legion Post 229.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to the family.

He was born Jan. 23, 1922, in Saffell, Ark., the son of John and Ophelia Perrin Daggett. He married Alberta Fretueg Jan. 27, 1951, in Galesburg.

He was a welder employed by IH Farmall for 28 years, retiring in February 1982.

He was a World War II Army veteran, having served in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of the Monmouth VFW.

Survivors include his wife; daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Ray Docherty, Matherville (Boden), Barbara Sue and Bob Day, Milton, Iowa, Juanita Jones and Robert Verplaetse, Davenport, and Diana and Russell Bieri, Aledo; a son and daughter-in-law, Dean Daggett and Candi Ketcherside, Viola; grandchildren, Jeff Docherty, Kristy Elgas, Stephanie Hughes, Kevin Day, Casey and Derek Jones, Alissa Daggett, and Brittney and Tyler Bieri; and great-grandchildren, Maddisen and Payten Hughes, Austin Day, Garrett and Karsen Elgas; a sister, Shirley Harris, Florrisant, Mo.; and brothers, Carl Daggett, East Moline, James Daggett, Saffell, Ark., and Lefty Daggett, Walls, Miss. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.

Bertha McCallum
Services for Bertha McCallum, 89, Colona, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Memorials may be made to the Children's Miracle Network c/o St. Francis Hospital, Peoria.

Mrs. McCallum died Wednesday Aug. 9, 2000, at Parkview Health Care Center, East Moline.

She was born Sept. 25, 1910, in Unionville, Mo., the daughter of G.H. and Maude (Lesher) Pearson. She married Herman Osborn in 1929. He died in 1965. She later married Donald McCallum Sr. Oct. 3, 1965.

Bertha enjoyed writing gospel music and has songs waiting for review in Nashville.

Survivors include her husband, stepchildren (and spouses); Katherine (Kenneth) Nelson, East Moline, Donald (Nancy) McCallum Jr., and Carol Carroll, of Lancaster, Mo., and Robert (Mary) McCallum, Davenport; grandchildren and their families, Ricky Osborn, Moline, Gary Osborn, Nebraska, and Russell Osborn, Galesburg; a sister, Zona Chapin, Arizona. Bertha is preceded in death by a son, Harry Lee Osborn.

Scott Myers
A memorial Mass for Scott Myers, 42, Memphis, Tenn., will be said at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Colona. Inurnment will follow in St. Mary's cemetery , East Moline.

Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church. Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Myers Family Trust Fund; c/o First Tennessee Bank, 7080 Shelby Dr., Memphis, TN 38120.

Scott died July 12, 2000, in Smyrna, Tenn.

He was born June 7, 1958, in Chicago, the son of Fred and Elinor Myers. He married Julie Merideth Nov. 3, 1984, in Colona.

Scott had worked 20 years for International Dairy Queen and had just begun a new career with Captain D's Restaurant, when he was killed on his last night of training in Smyrna.

Scott was raised in Chicago and was an avid Cub fan. He was a humanitarian and also served as an usher at his church. He was a very good husband and an awesome dad. Everyone who knew and loved him will miss him dearly.

Survivors include his wife; daughters Amanda, Allison and Ashley, all at home; his mother, Bradenton, Fla.; a brother, Stuart, Texas, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ron and Sharon Merideth, Silvis. Scott was preceded in death by his father, Fred.
