Lawrence E. Kohler, 86, Davenport, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.

Further arrangements are pending at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport.

Gerald Linenberger
Gerald D. Linenberger, 60, Davenport, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at home.

There will be no services or visitation. McGinnis, Chambers & Sass, Bettendorf, is in charge of arrangements.

He was born June 27, 1940, in Denver, Colo., to Theodore and Alma Myers Linenberger. He married Phyllis Cutrell Dec. 27, 1977, in Long Beach, Calif.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Falon, Davenport; two grandchildren; and siblings, Judy, Deanna, Rocky, Dennis and Teddy, all of California, and Larry, of Washington.

Gilbert Lynch
Gilbert E. Lynch, 57, Davenport, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at his home.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport, with visitation from 12:30 to service time. Further arrangements are pending.

Vernon Mildren
Vernon J. Mildren, 77, Davenport, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island, following an extended illness.

Services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Further arrangements are pending.

Philip Walters
Philip Walters, 32, of 1306 Harrison Drive, Clinton, Iowa, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, Morrison. Burial is in West Genesee cemetery , Coleta, Ill. Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today. Memorials may go to an education fund for his children or Leukemia Research Foundation.

He was born July 15, 1968, in Morrison to Harold and Ruth Stuart Walters.

Survivors include his wife, Christine; daughters, Stephanie and Tiffany, at home; a son, Matthew, at home; his mother, Ruth Walters, Morrison; sisters, Jane Heath and Dawn Bauer, both of Morrison, brothers, Paul, Morrison, and Harlan, Justin, Texas; and nieces and nephews.

Anna Holdorf
Anna Marie Holdorf, 45, Rock Island, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Services are 1 p.m. Friday at Hodgson Funeral Home Ltd., Rock Island. Burial is in National cemetery , Arsenal Island.

Visitation is noon to service time. Memorials may be made to an educational fund for her son, Adam.

Anna Ruckman was born Dec. 27, 1954, in Rock Island, to Dale and Bonnie Brown Ruckman. She married Gary L. Holdorf Sept. 2, 1989, in Rock Island.

She had worked for 25 years at the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 1999 as accounting technician, due to ill health.

She was a member of Fifteenth Avenue Christian Church, Rock Island. In prior years, she was a member of Memorial Christian Church, Rock Island, where she had been very active and had served as a Jr. Deaconess, was involved in a local 4H club, had been a candy striper at the former St. Anthony's Hospital and volunteered at the former Franciscan Medical Center.

She enjoyed bingo, did flower-arranging and had received many awards for her designs.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Adam, at home; her parents, of Rock Island; her grandfather, William A. Brown; a sister, Rita Korthals, East Moline; brothers, Rickey and Dale Anthony ``Tony" Ruckman, both of San Antonio, Texas; and nieces and nephews.

Mary Leonard
Mary J. Leonard, 74, Rock Island, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Arrangements are pending at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island.

Harold `Buzz' Kruse
Harold H. ``Buzz" Kruse, 83, of Moline, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Funeral services will be Saturday 10:30 a.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline, with visitation Friday 5 to 8 p.m. The burial will be at Chippiannock cemetery , Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or a favorite charity.

Harold H. was born Jan. 4, 1917, in Rock Island, the son of Hartvig and Edna Ellis Kruse. He married Ethel I. Johnson March 20, 1955, in Moline.

He was employed as a machinist at International Harvester Co. in East Moline for 10 years and retired in 1982 from the Rock Island Arsenal after 25 years as a machinist.

Harold was involved with the Manhattan Project during World War II. While at the Arsenal, he received an award from former President Gerald Ford for designing a technique that shows how to machine the rifling inside the howitzer barrels in order to save the government money.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, doing math problems and puzzles as well as he loved to read. Harold really enjoyed riding his bicycle until he was not able because of ill health.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel; a daughter, Diane Kruse, Moline; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Christine Kruse, Bettendorf; grandchildren, Stefanie Kruse, Brandon Kruse, Jason Kruse and Jennifer Kruse, all of Bettendorf; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sadie Doonan.

Beatrice Ludwick
Beatrice Ludwick, 87, of 54 41st Ave., East Moline, died on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Visitation will be held today from 5 until 8 p.m. at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline. Services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Memorial Park cemetery , Rock Island.

Beatrice Cunningham was born on Sept. 20, 1912, to Harry and Ruth (Philebaum) Cunningham in Hartford, Ind. She married Alvin W. Mohr on May 4, 1937, in Rock Island. He preceded her in death in 1970. She then married Howard C. Ludwick in 1973 in Montezuma, Iowa.

She was employed as a service assistant for Illinois Bell Telephone Co. at Rock Island for 25 years, retiring in 1969.

Survivors include sisters, Mary Axt, Pequot, Minn., Dorine Magnuson, Chattanooga, Tenn.; nieces, Denise Cross, Tyler, Texas, and Melody Dagen, Shreveport, La.; and a nephew, Charles Carr, Ringgold, Ga. She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands.

Gary Cameron
Gary L. Cameron, 42, of Milan, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at his home.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home Ltd., Orion. The visitation will be today 5 to 8 p.m. The burial will be at Cable cemetery . Memorials may be made to the family.

Gary LaVerne was born Dec. 17, 1957, in Moline, the son of Clifford and Dorothy Tharp Cameron. He married Peggy J. Logston Dec. 19, 1975, in Matherville, Ill.

Gary was a laborer with Local 309, Rock Island, for the past 24 years. His last employment was with GCI (General Constructors Inc.), in Bettendorf.

He was active and truly enjoyed his work in construction. Gary especially enjoyed time spent with his grandson, Kase, in fishing, hunting, shooting pool and racing.

Survivors (and spouses) include his wife, Peggy; a daughter, Nikki Cameron, Davenport; sons, Gary ``Tom" Cameron, Matherville, and Clifford Cameron, Milan; a grandson, Kase Thomas Cameron, Matherville; his mother, Dorothy Harader (John), Aledo; a sister, Eva Kellett (Jim), Joy; brothers, Ken Cameron (Susan), Milan, and Clifford ``Junior" Cameron (Linda), Matherville; a stepbrother, Max Harader, Grand Prairie, Texas; and a stepsister, Cindy Harader, of Virginia. He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Ronnie Cameron.

Edith Kinnamon
Services for Edith L. Kinnamon, 76, Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley, formerly of Milan, will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. tonight at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island, where a Christian wake service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the church or a favorite charity.

Mrs. Kinnamon died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at the home, following an extended battle with A.L.S., ``Lou Gehrig's Disease."

Edith Potter was born Aug. 31, 1923, in Rock Island, the daughter of Orlando and Elsie Lelonek Potter. She married Maynard Kinnamon May 24, 1944, in Tampa, Fla. He died Jan. 11, 1992.

Edith had worked as a foreman at the former Sash and Door Co., Rock Island. She later worked for Regalia Manufacturing Co., Rock Island.

She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan, Chapter 326, Order of Eastern Star, Milan, and the Milan American Legion Post 569 Auxiliary.

Survivors include sisters, Dorothy Walt, Moline, and Mary Davis, Rock Island; brothers, Norman Potter, Silvis, John D. Potter, Milan; many nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Andrew Hovonick, Milan. A brother, Richard Potter, and sisters, Darlene Wallace, Ethel Krauel and Shirley Potter, preceded her in death.

Coal Valley

Helen Matheis
Helen M. Matheis, 75, of 11210 95th St., Coal Valley, formerly of Rock Island, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley.

Graveside services are 10 a.m. Friday at National cemetery , Arsenal Island, Rev. Lawrence Morlan officiating. Hodgson Funeral Home Ltd., Rock Island, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Jan. 3, 1925, in Rock Island, the daughter of Charles H. Baird and Elsie Hough Baird. She married Louis B. Matheis September 1946 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rock Island.

She was an actuary for Modern Woodmen of America, retiring in 1970.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rock Island.

Survivors include a son and spouse, Lauerence A. ``Larry" (Chris) Matheis, Chicago; a grandson; a great-granddaughter; a sister, Sylvia Baird, Rock Island; and brothers, James E. Baird, of Iowa, Charles H. Baird, Rock Island, and Allen D. Baird, Phoenix, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1981 and a son, Charles, in 1979.

Virginia Boruff
Virginia Boruff, 82, Aledo, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at home.

Arrangements are pending at Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo.

Ollouse Daggett
Ollouse Daggett, 68, Viola, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at his home in Viola.

Arrangements are pending at Family Funeral Services, Viola.

Scott Myers
A memorial Mass for Scott Myers, 42, Memphis, Tenn., will be said at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Colona. Inurnment will follow in St. Mary's cemetery , East Moline.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, is handling arrangements.

Scott died July 12, 2000 in Smyrna, Tennessee.

He was born June 7, 1958, in Chicago, the son of Fred and Elinor Myers. He married Julie Merideth Nov. 3, 1984, in Colona.

Scott had worked 20 years for International Dairy Queen and had just begun a new career with Captain D's Restaurant, when he was killed on his last night of training in Smyrna.

Scott was raised in Chicago and was an avid Cub fan.

He was a humanitarian and also served as an usher at his church. He was a very good husband and an awesome dad. Everyone who knew and loved him, will miss him dearly.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Amanda, Allison and Ashley, all at home; his mother, Bradenton, Fla.; a brother, Stuart, Texas; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ron and Sharon Merideth, Silvis. Scott was preceded in death by his father, Fred.

Maynard Tervelt
Maynard B. Tervelt, 86, Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, Morrison. Burial is in Grove Hill cemetery , Morrison. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. Memorials may go to Ebenezer Reformed Church Radio Fund, Morrison.

He was born Nov. 5, 1913, in Fargo, N.D., to Ben and Ivy Cooper Tervelt. He married Viola L. Bush June 4, 1941, in Morrison. She died Jan. 9, 1990.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Vern (Nola) Tervelt, Morrison; grandchildren, Dustin and Kasie Tervelt; stepgrandchildren, Shellie and Sonja Parkinson, Sara Young, Shelia Oostenryk and Stephanie Hartman; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Tichler.

Mary Castor
Mary Gertrude Castor, 88, of Taylor Ridge, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at Lutheran Homes, Muscatine.

Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Buffalo Prairie Presbyterian Church. Burial is in Muscatine Memorial Park cemetery .

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday. Memorials to the church.

Mary Hessman was born April 21, 1912, in rural Buffalo Prairie, Ill., to Kline and Mary Ann Bopp Hessman. She married John V. Castor Feb. 20, 1935, in Nashua, Iowa. He died in 1991.

Survivors include a daughter, Cherryl Mueller, Taylor Ridge; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Everett Hessman, Taylor Ridge; and sisters, Lulella Doonan, Reynolds, Ruby Castle, Joy, Martha Kirkland, Taylor Ridge, and Eileen Anderson, Solon, Iowa.

Royce Dugan
Royce R. Dugan, 52, Davenport, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at home.

Graveside services are 9 a.m. Friday at Fairmount cemetery , Davenport. There is no visitation. Memorials may go to the family. McGinnis, Chambers & Sass Funeral Home, Bettendorf, is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include daughters, Kristie and Becky Dugan, a son, Robert Dugan, a stepdaughter, Tonia Holst, all of Davenport; five grandchildren; a sister, Barb Bauer, Burt, Iowa; and brothers, Richard Dugan, Eldon, Iowa, and Roger Dugan, Davenport.
