Martha D. Miclot, 85, Davenport, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at the Kahl Home for the Aged.

Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, with a wake service at 7 p.m.

Further arrangements are pending.

Eldon Pensinger
Eldon Pensinger, 71, Bettendorf, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at Genesis East, Davenport.

Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

He was born March 20, 1929, in Blandinsville, Ill., to George and Alice Marlowe Pensinger. He married Doris Robinson in 1964.

Survivors include his wife; son, Steve, Bettendorf; daughter, Julie Klein, Bettendorf; three grandchildren; and sisters, Eleanor Gifford, Acton, Calif., Barbara Howe, Albuquerque, N.M., and Pat Riggins, Macomb.

Ruby Posten
Ruby Posten, 76, Muscatine, Iowa, formerly of Davenport, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at Lutheran Homes, Muscatine.

Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Burial is in Rosehill cemetery , Buffalo, Iowa. Visitation is 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. today.

She was born * in Tuscaloosa County, Ala. She married Ellis Posten in Cordova, Ala. He died in 1973.

Survivors include sons, Jim, Davenport, Dave, Beech Grove, Tenn., and Ellis Jr., Muscatine; a daughter, Brenda Craig, Blue Grass, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and a brother, William Hallman, Cordova, Ala.

Lorene Schwarz
Lorene Schwarz, 76, Davenport, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at home.

Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Koning Chapel, Ridgecrest Village. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park.

Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Memorials go to Dubuque Arboretum and Botanical Garden, 3125 W. 32nd St., Dubuque.

Arrangements are pending.

William `Billy' Van Hoosier
William ``Billy" Van Hoosier, 49, Davenport, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at home.

Arrangements are pending at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport.

Michael Carr
Michael Francis Carr, 92, formerly of Rock Island, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, in Laguna Niguel, Calif., after a bout with pneumonia.

Mr. Carr worked until his retirement at Novaks TV in Rock Island as head service man. His wife, Bernice, died in 1976. They had lived at 2702 10th St., Rock Island. Mr. Carr moved to California in the late 1970s.

He is survived by grandchildren, Michael Kevin, Shawn A. and Timothy L., all of Rock Island.

He was preceded in death by his wife; children, Colleen and Michael L.; a sister, Madge Hogue; brothers, John J., Charles D., Patrick L., Matthew C., Daniel J. and Edward F.

Lloyd `Yokie' Dettmann
Lloyd H. ``Yokie" Dettmann, 79, of Rock Island, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hodgson Funeral Home Ltd., Rock Island. Burial is in National cemetery , Arsenal Island. There is no visitation.

He was born Sept. 8, 1921, in Clarence, Iowa, the son of Herman and Lydia Lerch Dettmann. He was a U.S. Army WWII veteran. He was employed by the City of Rock Island in the sanitation department until his retirement in 1983.

He is survived by a sister, Jeanette Pierce, Rockton, Ill; brothers and a sister-in-law, Howard and Pauline Dettmann, Milan, and Herman Dettmann, Laughlin, Nev. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, LaVern, and a sister, Darlene.

Melvin Martensen
Melvin D. Martensen, 69, Haines City, Fla., formerly of Rock Island, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Orlando Regional Medical Center, Orlando, Fla.

Services were held Jan. 6 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Give Kids the World, 210 S. Bass Road, Kissimmee, FL 34746. Condolences may be sent via www.oakridgefuneral.com.

He was born May 8, 1931, in Rock Island. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired systems engineer with Raytheon Corp.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; daughter, Lori Keller, South Grafton, Mass.; son, Dale, Whitinsville, Mass; five grandchildren; sisters, Jeanette Lemon and Marjorie Murphy, both of Moline; and a brother, Robert, Rock Island.

Raymond Myers
Raymond E. Myers, 69, of Largo, Fla., formerly of Rock Island, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Bay Pines Veterans Hospital, Bay Pines, Fla. Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Bay Pines National cemetery . Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Lewis W. Mohn Funeral Home, Seminole, Fla.

He was born in Monmouth. He was the owner of Myers Vault Co., Rock Island. He moved to Florida in 1978.

He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran and drove for Gen. VanFleet in 1951 when he visited Korea. He received the Combat Infantryman's Badge, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with four Bronze Stars, United Nations Service Medal, a Presidential Unit Citation, the Presidential Unit Citation badge and was to receive the new Korean Medal Feb. 3, in a ceremony at Bay Pines National cemetery .

He was a life member of American Legion Post 273, Madeira Beach, Fla.; Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 9272, Seminole; Disabled American Veterans Chapter 93; 40 & 8 Voiture Post 541; 2nd Indianhead Division Association, 23rd Regiment Korean War Branch, Korean War Veteran Alliance, member of Army-Navy Union 36, and BPOE Lodge 2519, Seminole.

He was of the Catholic faith.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia L.; a son, Thomas E., St. Petersburg, Fla.; daughters, Raymonda Cueno, Taylor Ridge, Mary Alice Wiese, Rock Island, and Trudy Weber, Seminole; a sister, Nancy Finfrock, Mesa, Ariz; six grandchidren; and a great-grandson.

Wesley Erickson
Wesley Erickson, 93, of Moline, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Forest Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center, East Moline.

A memorial gathering will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Riverside Mausoleum, Moline. Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline, is in charge of arrangements.

Wesley was born Oct. 2, 1907, in Moline, the son of Carl and Hilga Erickson. He married Martha DeGrande in Moline. She preceded him in death Aug. 1, 1974.

He was retired from the Moline Viking Club, where he was a manager for years. He enjoyed gambling on the boats.

Survivors (and spouses) include a daughter, Jane (Greg) Naylor, Moline; granddaughter, Leanna Robbins, Davenport; grandsons, Curt (Paula) Erickson, California, Bill Miller, Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Richard Miller, Moline; great-granddaughter, Taylor Miller; and nieces, Maryanne, Vicki and Nancy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha; a son, Richard; brother, Everett; and sisters, Doris and Marge.

Martha Groman
Martha J. Groman, 85, Moline, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Trinity Medical Center, West, Rock Island.

Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. today at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., 1216 5th Ave., Moline. A prayer service will be held at 4 p.m. prior to visitation. Family and friends are welcome to meet at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Monday and process to Riverside cemetery , Moline, for graveside services. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church of East Moline, where Martha was a member.

Martha Jevert was born Sept. 10, 1915, in Moline, the daughter of Bengt and Hannah Carlson Javert. She married Robert H. Groman Aug. 14, 1940, in Davenport. He preceded her in death Dec. 26, 1985.

She is survived by cousins, neighbors and dear friends.

Velsie `Anita' Kinast
Velsie ``Anita" Kinast, 80, Moline, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at Trimity Medical Center, West, Rock Island.

Services are 1 p.m. Monday at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline. Graveside services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the City of Marion Odd Fellows cemetery , Marion, Ill. Visitation is noon to service time Monday. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Trinity Medical Center.

She was born May 18, 1920, in Marion, the daughter of Hugh O. and Nora Harris Belford. She married Earl Kinast June 17, 1950, in Marion. She earned degrees from both the University of Illinois and Southern Illinois University.

She taught music at various schools and also taught private piano lessons in her home. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Marion, for more than 30 years.

She is survived by her husband, Earl, Moline.

Kent Wahlgren
Kent M. Wahlgren, 49, of San Francisco, Calif., formerly of Moline, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at California Pacific Medical Center, San Francisco.

Memorial services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline. Burial is in Nationl cemetery , Arsenal Island, with military rites conducted by Moline American Legion Post 246.

He was born Dec. 20, 1951, in Davenport, the son of Wilbert and Rhea Pomeroy Wahlgren.

He was a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran.

He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Val and Paul Welsh, Moline; brother, Charles Wahlgren, Escalon, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

Margaret Hasbrook
Margaret L. Hasbrook, 93, 1014 42nd Ave., East Moline, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at Aspenwood Care Center, Silvis.

Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Gibson Funeral Home, Erie. Burial is in Erie cemetery . Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. A memorial fund has been established.

The former Margaret Earles was born Sept. 19, 1907, in Amboy, Ill., the daughter of William and Minnie Heldman Earles. She married Charles E. Hasbrook Aug. 17, 1930, in Geneva, Ill. He died May 4, 1965.

She was a member of Erie United Methodist Church and for many years had been a member of the former Albany Birthday Club.

Survivors include her daughter, Peggy Elizabeth Stone, Sycamore, Ill., two grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lester Earles, Sartell, Minn. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert, in 1984.

Ann Hendricks
Ann Hendricks, 95, of East Moline, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Rosewood Care Center, Moline.

Private graveside services will be held at a later date at National cemetery , Arsenal Island. Sullivan-Phillips Mortuary Ltd., East Moline, is in charge of arrangments.

She married Julius Hendricks, who preceded her in death in 1979.

Mrs. Hendricks had worked as a dispatcher at the Deere & Co. Administrative Center.

She is survived by her son-in-law, Edward Owens, East Moline.

Coal Valley

Virginia Dowell
Virginia Dowell, 80, of Coal Valley, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, in her home.

Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Mortuary, Trenton, Mo., where visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to service time. Burial is in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Trenton. Memorials may be made to Pathway Hospice.

The former Virginia Shuler was born Oct. 27, 1920, in Trenton, the daughter of Gilbert and Maudie Brinser Shuler. She married Warren Woodrow Dowell on Oct. 16, 1939, in Chillicothe, Mo. He died July 12, 1984.

Virginia is survived by 11 children, Charles Dowell, Lathrop, Mo., Ruth Lees, Lynn Center, Ill., Darlene Allen, Port Byron, LeRoy Dowell, Cleveland, Ill., Cheryl Dhaemers, Coal Valley, Joyce Stablein, Moline, Joy Farren, Hampton, Dean Dowell, Rock Island, Teresa Burnett, Coal Valley, Terry Dowell, Moline, and Jerry Dowell, Sherrard; 28 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lillie Shuler, Rock Island; and brothers, Jessie Shuler and Junior Shuler, Trenton, and Melvin Shuler, Jamesport, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister and four brothers.

Glenn Carlson
Glenn E. Carlson, 92, of Geneseo, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo.

Memorial services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Myers Chapel, Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Geneseo, with the Rev. Thomas Heyd officiating. At his request, the body will be cremated. Burial is in Oakwood cemetery , Geneseo, with military rites conducted by Geneseo American Legion. Visitation is one hour prior to services Tuesday at Myers Chapel. Memorials may be made to the family.

Glenn Carlson was born Sept. 17, 1908, in Munson Township, Henry County, Ill., the son of Fred L. and Minnie Dennis Carlson. He graduated from Geneseo High School in 1926. He married Mabel G. Giebel March 6, 1942, in Springfield, Mo.

He served in the Seabees in both World War II and the Korean War.

Mr. Carlson had worked as a carpenter and then worked as a plumber with Giebel Bros. Plumbing, Geneseo.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Geneseo; Shearer Post 350, American Legion, Geneseo; Don Cherry Post 5083 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Geneseo; and Henry County 40 et 8, Voiture 433, Annawan. He enjoyed doing woodworking and watching the Chicago Cubs.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel; a son, John E. Carlson, Geneseo; daughter-in-law, Betty Carlson, Geneseo; three grandchildren and spouse, Derik Carlson, Geneseo, Elizabeth and Ryan Carlson-Swemline, East Moline, and Kenneth ``Tubby" Carlson, Geneseo. His parents and a brother, Leonard, preceded him in death.
