Bernard Lyons, 80, of 408 N. Henderson Road, Alexis, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

Services are 11:30 a.m. today at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel, Galesburg. Burial is in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg, with military rites by James Harvey Scott American Legion Post 189, Alexis. Visitation is 9:30 a.m. to service time.

He was born Aug. 12, 1920, in Galesburg, to Stanley and Mae Coziahr Lyons. He married Frances Hunt March 21, 1943, in Reno, Nev. He farmed in the North Henderson and Rio area 44 years, retiring in 1990.

Surviving are his wife; children, Barry, Dayton, Ohio, Karen Johnson, Media, Pa., and Liana Terwilliger, Alexis; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and brother, Stanley, Galesburg.

Harriett Meurs
Harriett Meurs, 80, Fulton, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, Fulton. Burial will be at Fulton Township cemetery . Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials to the home.

She was born Aug. 26, 1920, in Union Grove Township, Ill., to Albert and Annie (Dykstra) DeVries. She married Henry Meurs Feb. 10, 1941.

She had been a nurses aide at Harbor Crest and Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison.

Survivors include her husband; daughters, Norma Haan, Morrison, and Joan Wiebenga, Fulton; nine grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, a sister; and a brother. She was preceded by two brothers and two sisters.

Carole Neff
Services for Carole Ann Neff, 57, of Carbon Cliff, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Green Rock Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.

Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Sunday at Family Funeral Services, Colona. Memorials may be made to the church.

Mrs. Neff died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Rosewood Care Center of Moline.

Carole was born Oct. 25, 1943, in Fort Smith, Ark., the daughter of Harold and Virginia Stanford Loving. She married Gerald Neff March 29, 1964, in Greenville, Miss.

She was formerly a salon rep for Chenall Employment Agency. Prior to that, she was a lease auditor for John Deere Parts Depot for 13 years.

She was a Sunday school teacher at the church.

She enjoyed her church activities and her family.

Survivors include her husband; daughter, Virginia Fritts, Port Byron; sons, Gerald Neff, Aaron Neff and Micah Neff, all of Carbon Cliff; a brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Delores Loving, Republic, Mo.; several nieces, nephews and three great-nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Harold Loving and a sister, Eva Jo Thompson.

Ivan Peterson
Ivan C. Peterson, 97, Andover, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Illini Hospital, Silvis.

Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Augustana Lutheran Church, Andover.

Visitation is 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Kirk, Huggins and Esterdahl Funeral Home Ltd., Orion, where further arrangements are pending.

Clarice `Peg' Van Loo
Services for Clarice ``Peg" Van Loo, 83, Sheffield, are 1:30 p.m. Monday at Stackhouse-Moore, Sheffield. Visitation is 12:30 p.m. to service time. Memorials to Sheffield Rescue Unit.

She died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Kewanee Care Nursing Home.

She was born June 28, 1917, in Neponset, the daughter of Clarence and Amy McKey.

She worked in Sheffield at the Royal Super Market and the former Barcol Overdoor Company. She retired as a nurses aide from Perry Memorial Hospital, Princeton.

Surviving are husband, Clarence; daughter, Judy Brody, Lady Lake, Fla.; son, Jim, Peoria; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and 13 stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded by two sisters.

Arthur Walwer
Arthur R. Walwer, 78, Kewanee, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Kewanee Hospital.

Services are 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Kewanee, where he was a member. Burial is in Pleasant View cemetery , Kewanee, with military rites. Visitation is at the church, 9 a.m. to service time. Rux, Kewanee, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Walwer was born Nov. 6, 1922, in Mendota, Ill., the son of Jacob and Mabel Dillon Walwer. He married Helen Price July 30, 1955, in Kewanee. He was a World War II U.S. Marine Corp veteran.

He is survived by his wife; stepsons, Theodore Oldeen, Plano, Ill., and Robert Oldeen, Kewanee; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother Ben, Dallas; sisters, Juanita Peed and Margaret Cunningham, both of Kewanee; several nieces and nephews.

Warren Wheelhouse Jr.
Warren Wheelhouse Jr., 72, Kewanee, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Cremation rites were accorded. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Evergreen Memory Gardens, Kewanee. Rux Funeral Home, Kewanee, is in charge of arrangements.

He was born July 22, 1928, in Kewanee, the son of Warren and LaVerne Stanbaugh Wheelhouse Sr.

Mr. Wheelhouse was a WWII U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany. He had worked as a mechanic for American Appliance.

He is survived by sisters, Mary Nelson, Kewanee, Lois Weismiller, Lansing, Mich., and Violet Jaspers, Carbon Cliff. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a sister.

Leonard Clemons
Leonard A. Clemons, 82, of Pleasant Valley, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at his home.

Arrangements are pending at McGinnis, Chambers & Sass Funeral Home, Bettendorf.

Dolores `Gram' Jepsen
Dolores ``Gram" Jepsen, 91, Bettendorf, formerly of Cicero, Ill., died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at home.

Arrangements are pending at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport.

Donald Long
Services for Donald E. Long, 74, Davenport, are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, Davenport, with Masonic services by Lodge 37. Burial is in Rosehill cemetery , Buffalo. Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Long died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Genesis West.

He was born Nov. 1, 1926, in Linwood, Iowa. He married Bettye Northrup in March of 1948.

Surviving are his wife; sons, Larry, Downers Grove, Ill., and David, Moline; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Grace Carstens and Clarence, Davenport, and Mae De Lap, Metamora, Ill.

Betty `Nano' Pfaff
Services for Betty ``Nano" Pfaff, 78, Bettendorf, are 2 p.m. Monday at McGinnis, Chambers & Sass, Bettendorf. Burial is in Rock Island National cemetery .

Visitation is 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

She died Jan. 18, 2001, at Bettendorf Healthcare. She was born Jan. 22, 1922, in San Francisco, Calif., to Robert and Rhoda Caldwell Fenton. She married Karl Pfaff in 1945 in Vallejo, Calif. He died in 1994.

Survivors include a daughter, Judy Cary, Bettendorf; a grandson; a sister, Margaret; and a sister-in-law, Nora Fenton, St. Louis, Mo.

Mike `Ace' Reisdorf
Services for Mike ``Ace" Reisdorf, 48, Davenport, are 1 p.m. Monday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, Davenport. Burial is in Mt. Calvary cemetery , Davenport. Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Sunday.

He died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Genesis East.

Surviving are his children, Vanessa and John, both of Davenport, his fiancee, Judy Carstens, Davenport, and her children, Dan Carstens, Crystal Westmoreland and David Carstens; his mother, Dona Reisdorf, Davenport; and siblings, John, Linda Stock, Patti Kloppenburg, Laura Reisdorf, all of Davenport, and Vicki Heiser, Monmouth.

Ethel Sowl
Ethel E. Sowl, 65, of Bettendorf, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at River Park Healthcare Center in Rock Island.

Arrangements are pending at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport.

Marie McFall
Marie Yvonne McFall, 65, Morning Sun, Iowa, formerly of Rock Island, died Feb. 16, 2001, at her daughter's home in Morning Sun.

Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at the National cemetery , Arsenal Island. There is no visitation.

She was born Aug. 27, 1935, in Rock Island, to Delmer and Evelyn Elgin Engesser. She married Jerome McFall Nov. 19, 1955, in Nashua, Iowa. He died in 1995.

She had worked as a waitress primarily at Bishop's Buffet in Southpark Mall, Moline.

Surviving are daughters, Laurie McFall, Rock Island, and Deena Kitchen, Morning Sun; sons, Darren, Phoenix, Ariz., and Brett, Rock Island; five grandchildren; a sister, Sharon McFall, Rock Island; and brothers, Larry Engesser, Sherrard, Wayne Engesser, Moline, and Greg Engesser, Rock Island.

Lloyd `Pete' Peters
Lloyd L. ``Pete" Peters, 66, Rock Island, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at Edward Hospital, Naperville, Ill.

Arrangements are pending at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island.

Ramon DeAnda
Ramon R. DeAnda, 80, of Moline, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at Parkview Heatlh Care Center, East Moline.

Arrangements are pending at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.

George Paytash Jr.
George Paytash Jr., 86, East Moline, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at Illini Hospital, Silvis.

Visitation is 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where further arrangements are pending.

James Zissis
Services for James Zissis, 74, East Moline, are 10 a.m. Monday at Sullivan-Phillips Mortuary Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in National cemetery , Arsenal Island, with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 227 and VFW Post 2056. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Zissis died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at Illini Hospital, Silvis.

James was born Sept. 1, 1926, in Moline, the son of Constantine and Ethel Robinson Zissis. He married Waunita Allmendinger Aug. 23, 1952, in Kewanee.

He worked 50 years in the construction field and currently was employed with Centennial Contractors of the Quad Cities.

He lived in the Quad-Cities his entire life.

He was a WWII Marine Corps veteran and a member of Amvets Silvis/East Moline Post 145 and VFW Post 2056.

Survivors (and spouses) are his wife, Waunita; daughter Dawne (Tim) Knudsen, Moline; James Massa, East Moline, was like a son; granchildren, Luke and Zak Knudsen; Jayme B., Nikole and Kris Massa, who were like grandchildren; sisters, Georgia Mulhern, California; and a sister-in-law, Virginia Kirkpatrick, Moline.

John Butkus Sr.
John Butkus Sr., 74, Morrison, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at Morrison Community Hospital.

Services are 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Morrison, preceded by a 1 p.m. family prayer service at the Morrison Chapel of Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Burial is in Grove Hill cemetery , Morrison. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Sunday. Memorials to Mass offerings.

He was born May 4, 1926, in Farmington, Ill. He married Evelyn Johns July 3, 1948, in Farmington.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Beth Wahl, Sterling, and Mary Butkus, Milwaukee, Wis.; sons, Mike, Minneapolis, Minn., Tom, Kansas City, Mo., Andy, Arlington Heights, Ill., and John, Aurora, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; and a brother, Joseph Butkus, Indianapolis, Ind.
