Mabel Otelia Elam, 101, Kewanee, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at Oakwood Health Care Center, Kewanee.

Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Schueneman-Tumbleson, Kewanee. Burial is in Evergreen Memory Gardens, rural Kewanee. Visitation is one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.

She was born Aug. 2, 1899, in Burns Township, Henry County, the daughter of Henry and Hannah Girkin. She married Charles Elam Nov. 26, 1926 in Kewanee. He died in 1968.

Surviving are grandchildren, Lisa Stahl, Fordyce Walker and Kelly Tiscarino, all of California; and nieces, Mildred Moore, Kewanee, and Betty DeCraene, Madison, Wis. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Walker in 1986, four sisters and three brothers.

Dan Hegwood
Dan J. Hegwood, 75, of 100 Fairview Dr., Morrison, died Thursday Feb. 15, 2001, at his home.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian, Morrison. Burial is in Evergreen cemetery , Kewanee. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Morrison Chapel, Bosma-Renkes, Morrison, followed by a Lion's memorial service.

He was born Dec. 12, 1925, in Wyoming, Ill., to Melvin and Clara Troxel Hegwood. He married Glenda Tracy in 1946, in Macomb.

He was a former teacher and principal at AlWood Grade School; principal at Northside and Southside Grade Schools, Morrison; and superintendent of Clystic School of Whiteside County.

Survivors are his wife; daughter, Melanie Schoenborn, Glen Carbon, Ill.; sons, Alan, Terre Haute, Ind., and Jon, Peoria; and five grandchildren.

Curtis Larson
Curtis B. Larson, 54, Dewey, Ariz., formerly of Galesburg, died Feb. 14, 2001, at home.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West, Galesburg. Burial is in Woodhull cemetery . Visitation is 2-4 p.m. Sunday. Memorials to the family.

He was born Jan. 15, 1947, in Rock Island, to Ralph and Lucille Larson. He married Carolyn Cantwell in 1974 in Las Vegas.

He worked construction, where he was a member of Labors Local 538. He also worked as new and used car manager at Yemm Chevrolet-Galesburg. He moved to Arizona in December 1998.

Survivors include his wife; son, Benjamin, Marina del Ray, Calif.; daughter, Tamara Cavenaux, San Antonio, Texas; stepdaughter, Karen Hirsch, San Jose, Calif.; three grandchildren; and a sister, Deb Fetters, Aledo.

Dustin `Dusty' Medley
Dustin J. ``Dusty" Medley, 17, of rural Cambridge, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at his home.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Cambridge United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dr. Garry Gromley will officate. Eulogist will be Ron McCanless. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery , Cambridge. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Cambridge. Memorials may be made to Pathway Hospice or Make A Wish Foundation.

Dustin Medley was born Sept. 5, 1983, in Galesburg, the son of Eugene W. and Arleta K. Rice Medley. He was a lifelong resident of Cambridge and was a junior at Cambridge High School. He was a member of Future Farmers of America. He enjoyed farming and worked for several area farmers. Dusty enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially driving his truck.

Survivors include his parents Gene and Arleta Medley, Cambridge; brothers, Buckley Medley, a student at the University of Illinois, Champaign, and Culley Medley, a student at Western Illinois University, Macomb; grandparents, Walter and Burnetta Medley, Cambridge, and Don and Marilyn Rice, Woodhull; great-grandmothers, Bertha VanRie, Cambridge, Addie Ethridge, Galesburg, and Cynthia Hough, Victoria. His four great-grandfathers and a great-grandmother preceded him in death.

Donald Ohnen Sr.
Donald L. Ohnen Sr., 72, Rock Falls, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at Prophets Riverview Center, Prophetstown.

Services and burial will be at a later date in Riverside cemetery , Sterling. Gibson, Erie, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ohnen was born March 13, 1928, in Sterling, to Edward and Marie Ohnen. He married Nancy Williamson in 1954 in Rock Falls.

Donald had been a machinist at various places. He enjoyed playing championship pool, making pool cues, fishing and hunting.

Survivors include daughters, Michelle ``Micki" Heitzler, Carmichael, Calif., and Nora Kaye Poulter, Prophetstowns; sons, Gregory, Atkinson, Donald Jr., Chino, Calif., and Kenneth, Prophetstown; seven grandchildren; sisters, Loraine Bankes, San Diego, Calif., Janice Sonneman, Stevensville, Mich.; and brothers, Edward, Chicago, Richard, Indianapolis, Ind., and Warren, Dallas, Texas.

Ethel Slager
Ethel Slager, 87, Morrison, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, Morrison. Burial is in Grove Hill cemetery .

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday. Memorials to First Baptist Church, Morrison.

She was born Aug. 6, 1913, to George and Myrtle Siedenburg Pennhollow. She married Harold R. Slager Dec. 21, 1940, in Clinton, Iowa. He died Dec. 21, 1974.

Ethel had lived in Morrison since 1950, where she was employed at Volkman Furniture Co. for 23 years, retiring in 1975.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Sandell, Morrison; a son, James, Saratoga, Calif.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mabel Beeksma, Herbster, Wis.

William `Blackie' Trout
William F. ``Blackie" Trout, 65, Warsaw, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001, at his home.

Graveside services are 10 a.m. today at Rock Island National cemetery by the American Legion Post 246, Moline. Arrangements by Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.

He was born Dec. 4, 1934, in Rock Island, the son of Harold Albert and Helen Fern Hogan Trout.

Mr. Trout served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1961. He was employed by International Harvester Farmall from 1961 until 1985.

On Dec. 28, 1985, he was united in marriage to Arlene Uhlenberg. They made their home in Springfield, Ohio, where he was employed by Navistar International until his retirement in 1991. Following his retirement, they moved to Warsaw.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene, of the home; daughters, Helen Miranda, LaVere Munez and Sharon Francis, sons, Dale Dean Trout and Terry Trout, all of Davenport; stepson, James Byrd, Springfield, Ohio; stepdaughter, Terri Cook, Florida; 27 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Betty Trout; nieces, Maxine McDonald, Pamela Adams, Susan Cameron and Timi Trout and a nephew, Jim Cope, all of the Quad-Cities; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded by his parents; a sister and brother-in-law, June and Maxie Cope; a brother, Harold Trout; half-brothers, Earl Cramer and John Phillips; and friends, Mr. and Mrs. James Fuller, Rock Island.

Linda Walker
Linda S. Walker, 52, Morrison, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at her home.

Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, Morrison. Burial is in Grove Hill cemetery , Morrison. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday. Memorials may be made to Huntington Disease Foundation.

Linda was born Nov. 16, 1948, in Morrison, to Martin and Johanna Ottens Vegter. She married Edward C. Walker June 3, 1967, in Morrison.

She was employed by Drives, Inc., Fulton, for eight years. Prior to that, she was employed by Isle of Rhodes Restaurant, Morrison.

Surviving are her husband; daughter, Amy Walker, son, Tony Walker, grandson, Brent, her mother, Johanna Vegter, sister, Judy Rus, and brother, John Vegter, all of Morrison.

Alberta Christy
Memorial services for Alberta Christy, 66, of Bettendorf, are 1 p.m. Sunday at McGinnis, Chambers &, Sass, Bettendorf. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park.

She died Feb. 15, 2001, at Genesis East, Davenport.

Alberta Casady was born Nov. 29, 1934, in Milton, Iowa, to Albert and Mildred Casady. She married Richard Christy in June 27, 1959. He died in 1986.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Matthew Lukes, Bettendorf; three grandchildren; sister, Jeanette Bohnenkamp, Fort Madison; brothers, Donald, Fort Madison, and William, Santa Fe., N.M.

Helen Ellsworth
Helen K. Ellsworth, 64, Davenport, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at Trinity Medical Center, North Campus, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport.

Frances Fox
Frances J. Fox, 92, of Davenport, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at Ridgecrest Health Care, Davenport.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Ridgecrest Koning Chapel. Arrangements are pending at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport.

Judith `Judy'
Henderson

Judith ``Judy" A. Henderson, 57, of Davenport, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at the University of Iowa Hospital following a lengthly illness.

Visitation is 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport, where further arrangements are pending.

Francis McConnell
Francis L. McConnell, 87, a lifelong Bettendorf resident, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at Genesis Medical Center, West, Davenport.

Services are 11:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Bettendorf. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at McGinnis, Chambers and Sass, Bettendorf, with a 5 p.m. prayer service.

Surviving are sons, David and Russell, Davenport; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; sister, Mary Fort, Danville, Ill.; brothers, Jim Boland, Davenport, and John Boland, Sacramento, Calif.

Maxine Obukowicz
Maxine Catherine Obukowicz, 82, Kenmore, Wash., formerly of Davenport, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001, in Kenmore.

Arrangements are pending at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.

Fred Spies
Services for Fred W. Spies, 85, Davenport, are 1 p.m. Monday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Burial is in Memorial Park. Visitation is 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Fred died Feb. 16, 2001, at home with his family present.

He was born April 9, 1915, in Scott County, the son of Adolph and Amanda Spies. He married Alma Lineburg Aug. 21, 1940, in Davenport. He retired from the Rock Island Arsenal in 1972 after 32 years service.

Surviving are his wife; daughters, Lorraine Banning, Florence, Ala., Marilyn Bromberg, Denver, Colo.; son, Leon, Iowa City, Iowa; and four grandchildren.

Milton Votroubek
Milton Votroubek, 80, Rock Island, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Memorial services are 4 p.m. Thursday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. His body has been donated to Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, for medical research.

Visitation is 1 p.m. to service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Mr. Votroubek was born Aug. 28, 1919, near Swisher, Iowa, the son of Harry and Mabel Mundill Votroubek. He married Wilma Holub Aug. 23, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo.

Milt worked as a stock control analyst for Deere & Co., both in Moline and East Moline. He retired in 1980 after 40 years of service. In earlier years he had worked on several farms.

He was a member of Family Campers on Wheels. He enjoyed playing cards and gardening. Milt also enjoyed using his talent at repair to fix things for many people.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma; son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Pam Votroubek, Moline; daughter and son-in-law, Vicky and Mike Bealer, Coal Valley; grandchildren, Scott and Sara Votroubek and Kelly and Kristen Bealer; a brother, Elmer Votroubek, Solon, Iowa; and sisters and brother-in-law, Val Stahle, Clearwater, Fla., and Eleanor and George Cropp, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Frank Bardoel
Frank C. Bardoel, 82, entered eternal rest in Bakersfield, Calif. on July 17, 2000. His family was at his side. He lived a full and rewarding life, being married his wife, Jayne, for 55 years.

Services were entrusted to the care of the Bonewell Family of Lake Isabella Funeral Home.

He was born to Remi and Emma Bardoel, who came to this country from Belgium.

Frank served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945, holding the rank of first sergeant.

He was an avid fisherman and golfer and a member of Kern Valley Golf Club for many years. He was also a masterful storyteller who could entertain an audience for hours.

Surviving are his wife; son, Roger, Panama City, Fla.; daughter, Michelle Berg, Moorpark, Calif.; granddaughter, Stephanie Bardoel; great-granddaughter, Alexis Bell. He was preceded in death by sisters, Loraine Aitken and Adrienne Kozikowski, both of Moline. Frank will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Gary Cameron
Gary L. Cameron, 42, Milan, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at home.

Arrangements are pending at Kirk, Huggins and Esterdahl Funeral Home, Orion.
