Norman Horst
Norman E. Horst, 85, of 1853 24th Ave. Court, Moline, died Friday, April 13, 2001, at his home in Macon, Ga.

Graveside services are 2 p.m. Friday at Memorial Park cemetery , Muscatine. The Rev. Richard Nye will officiate. Memorials may be made to Arrowhead Ranch, Coal Valley. Arrangements by Wendt Funeral Home, Moline, and Hart's Mortuary, Macon.

Norman E. Horst was born Jan. 22, 1916, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Ed and Nellie McGill Horst. He married Margaret Schwertfeger April 10, 1947, in Crown Point, Ind.

Norman earned bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Iowa, Iowa City. He was employed as head industrial engineer for the former American Air Filter Corp., Moline, for 29 years, retiring in 1978.

He served in the Navy during WWII. He was a member of the Triangle Engineering Fraternity, the Industrial Engineering Society of the Quad Cities, Moline American Legion Post 246 and First Congregational Church, Moline, where he served as scoutmaster for many years. He enjoyed fishing and golf.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Horst, Moline; sons, Michael (Kathleen) Horst, Macon; a granddaughter, Kathryn Horst, Macon; a niece, Diane Weis Olson, Muscatine; and a nephew, Dr. Robert Weis, Muscatine. He was preceded by his mother; father; and sister, Pauline Weis.

Lloyd `Nails' Nelson
Services for Lloyd ``Nails" Nelson, 74, Moline, are 5 p.m. Wednesday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. The Rev. John Jacobi, Elim Covenant Church, Moline, will officiate.

Graveside services are 10 a.m. Thursday at National cemetery on Arsenal Island, where Moline American Legion Post 246 will present military honors.

Visitation will follow the service from 5:50 until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Mr. Nelson died Saturday, April 21, 2001, in his home.

Carl Lloyd Nelson was born April 17, 1927, in Moline, the son of Carl G. and Ethel (Wardlow) Nelson. He married Charlotte Douglas Nov. 17, 1949, in Rock Island.

He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and was a member of Moline American Legion and a life member of Disabled American Veterans. He was a lineman for the former Iowa-Illinois Gas & Electric Co. for 40 years, retiring in 1991. He served as business manager of IBEW Local 109 for eight years.

Since 1967, Lloyd has been active in many local theater groups, appearing in more than 40 area productions. Many will remember him for performances at the Playcrafters Barn and Quad City Music Guild. Some will remember him as Gentleman Jim, a costumed host and greeter on Casino Rock Island.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Charlotte; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Barbara Nelson, Silverthorne, Colo.; a daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Greg Wierenga, Moline; granddaughters, Sarah Mahieu, Nicole Wierenga and Melissa Wierenga; and a sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Gary Schnoebelen, Moline. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas, and a sister, Jackie Horton.

Margaret Richeson
Margaret L. Richeson, 86, formerly of Moline, died April 11, 2001.

McNerney's Mortuary, San Pedro, Calif., was in charge of services, which were held Monday, April 16, 2001, at Mary Star of the Sea Church, Wilmington, Calif., with burial at All Souls cemetery , Long Beach, Calif. Memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan.

Margaret was born June 26, 1914, in Moline to Minnie Bowen and Greeley Henry. She married William Zawada in 1937. She married Clarence Richeson in 1942 and moved to California.

Margaret was a homemaker and did volunteer tutoring for developmentally disabled children.

She is survived by her son, Preston Zawada and his wife, Joyce, Milan; sister, Sandra Henry of Anaheim, Calif.; grandchildren and their spouses, Elizabeth and Brian Coberly, Taylor Ridge, James Zawada, Coyne Center, Lori and Alan Zahringer, Moline, and Joseph and Christine Zawada, Milan; great-grandchildren, Jennifer Marks, Brandon Zawada, Evan Coberly, Betsy and Ally Zahringer; and a niece and her husband, Patricia and James King, Camarillo, Calif. Her husband Clarence, their son, James Richeson, and a sister, Erma Henry, preceded her in death.

Adria Hanson Murphy
Adria L. Hanson Murphy, 81, East Moline, peacefully went to be with the Lord Sunday, April 22, 2001, at Heartland Healthcare Center, Moline.

Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. today at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., 1216 5th Ave., Moline. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bethany Baptist Church, Moline, with the Rev. Byron Hand officiating. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, Bethany Baptist Church or Intouch Day Care.

Adria was born May 23, 1919, in Galesburg, the daughter of Charles and Anna Tetterman Nelson. She married Clifford Hanson July 6, 1941. After his death in May 1981, she married Leland Murphy June 26, 1982.

Adria was employed as a school secretary at Jane Addams and Garfield schools in Moline for 18 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church for 60 years, a member of Kathrine Walther Circle of King's Daughters, and Clara Lodge 118, Independent Order of Vikings, Moline. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors (and spouses) are her husband; sons, Norman (Linda) Hanson, Lancaster, Wis., and Jeffery (Vicki) Murphy, Billings, Mont.; daughters, Barbara Smith, Moline, Naniloa Smith, Tucson, Ariz., Sharon (Al) Collins, Sherrard; and Ruth Murphy, East Moline; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, the Rev. Edwin (Vivian) Nelson, Galesburg; and a sister, Esther (Lavern) Carlson, Galesburg. She was preceded in death by her first husband and a daughter, Paula Hansen.

Margaret Lodico
Funeral services for Margaret D. Lodico, 80, of Silvis, are 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, with a rosary service recited at 7:30 p.m.

Mrs. Lodico died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at her home.

Further arrangements are pending.

Clara Glockhoff
Clara Glockhoff, 88, formerly of Milan, died Sunday April 22, 2001, at Kahl Home, Davenport.

Services are 9:30 a.m. Thursday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, and 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline, where she was a member. Burial is in Memorial Park cemetery , Rock Island. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with a rosary recited at 4 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Alzeheimer's Association or Kahl Home.

She was born May 26, 1912, in Moline, the daughter of Fidel and Martha Monsaert Bomelyn. She married Richard Glockhoff Sept. 3, 1938, in Moline. He died May 17, 1990.

Clara and her husband were owners and operators of Glockhoff Orchard and Dairy Farm on U.S. 67, south of Milan, for 50 years, retiring in 1990.

She is survived by sisters, Ida Vershaw, Moline, and Irene Claeys, Rock Island; sister-in-law, Charlotte Grymonprez, Spokane, Wash.; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Roels and Emma Heirbrandt, and a brother, Charles Bomelyn.

Coal Valley

Olene Tacker
Olene V. Tacker, 84, Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley, died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at the home.

Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Family Funeral Services, Colona. Burial is in Riverside cemetery , Moline. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Oak Glen Home or Green Rock First Freewill Baptist Church, where she was a member.

She was born March 26, 1917, in Marion County, Ala., the daughter of Boyd and Elzora Williams Maddox. She married Luie C. Tacker May 26, 1933, in Hazen, Ark. He died May 13, 1998.

She was employed as a dietitian with the Rock Island County Health Department Tuberculosis Department for 18 years, retiring in 1974.

She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and sewing.

Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Doylene and Bill Griffith, Rapids City, Judy and John Goodnight, Coal Valley, and Jone and Kenny Cantrell, Fort Gibson, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ollie Reeves and Ruby Tidwell, both of Guin, Ala.

Fay Groharing
Fay Groharing, 83, Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at the home.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, Morrison. Burial is in Grove Hill cemetery , Morrison.

Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

He was born April 5, 1918, in Thomson, Ill., to Charles and Myrta Cobb Groharing. He married Norma Robison in 1942 in Huntsville, Ala.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Glenda Ottens, Chadwick, Ill., and Gayle Schmidt, Richland Center, Wis.; a son, Gary, Naperville; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Lois Adolph, Milledgeville, Ill., Myrtle Foltz, Chadwick, and June Luckstead, California; and a brother, Fred, Morrison.

June Pearson
June I. Pearson, 91, Prophetstown, died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center, Prophetstown.

Services are 11 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church, Prophetstown. Burial is in Riverside cemetery , Prophetstown. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church. Arrangements are by Gardner-Gibson & Son, Prophetstown.

She was born June 1, 1909, to John and Emma (Olson) Gibson. She married C. Harry Pearson May 3, 1933. He died May 3, 1992.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and John Moretz, Milford, Conn.; grandchildren; Judy Paskvan, Nancy Jacek, Jonathan and David Moretz; great-grandson, Jake Jacek; and sister, Mildred Merrill, Prophetstown. She was preceded in death by a daughter, two sisters and three brothers.

Mary Bermel
Mary J. Bermel, 71, Davenport, died Monday, April 23, 2001, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

Ralph Fowler
Ralph W. Fowler, 88, of Bettendorf, died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at Iowa Masonic Health Facilities.

Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and services are 1 p.m. Thursday at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, where further arrangements are pending.

Vera Kroeger
Vera Kroeger, 71, of Davenport, died Monday, April 23, 2001, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

Patricia Lipplegoes
Patricia Lipplegoes, 75, Princeton, Iowa, died April 23, 2001, at home.

Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Chambers & Sass, Eldridge. Burial is in Greenwood cemetery , Muscatine. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

She was born April 29, 1925, in Cedar Rapids. She married John Owens Sr. in 1946. He died in 1968. She married Alfred Lipplegoes in 1970. He died in 1984.

Survivors include son, John Jr., Princeton; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ada Roster and Viola McNeill, Vinton, Iowa.

Edward Lunardi
Edward A. Lunardi, 80, of Davenport, died Monday, April 23, 2001, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.

Ruth Mehrens
Ruth Mehrens, 95, Bettendorf, died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at Iowa Masonic Home, Bettendorf.

Services are 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 1:30 p.m. to service time.

She was born May 18, 1905, in Buffalo Prairie, Ill. She married Edward Mehrens May 1, 1928, in Davenport. He died Aug. 21, 1959.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Irene Mehrens, Palos Heights, Ill.; a granddaughter; two nephews; three nieces; and a brother-in-law, Herman Mehrens, Tucson, Ariz. She was preceded by a son, Jerry, May 13, 1968.

Marguerite Mader
Marguerite N. Mader, 72, of 4231 14th Ave., Rock Island, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at St. Anthony's Continuing Care Center, Rock Island.

Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island, where she was a member. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.

Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island, where a Christian wake service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m.

Marguerite Dunsworth was born May 4, 1928, in Chicago, the daughter of Frederick and Pearl Shirey Dunsworth. She married Delbert E. McGinnis April 22, 1946, in Keokuk, Iowa. She later married Bernard K. Mader June 30, 1963, in Reynolds.

She enjoyed her grandchildren and following politics.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Robert Neyens, East Moline, Catherine and Arthur Torres, New Windsor, and Peggy and Mark Bierman, Rock Island; sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael and Sherry McGinnis, Phoenix, Ariz., and Daniel McGinnis, Rock Island; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Darlene Wigle, Taylor, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph Neyens, and a daughter, Melody Torrance.

Darraya Sierra Teague
Darraya Eugenia Sierra Teague, infant daughter of Andrea M. Sierra and Darnell E. Teague, Rock Island, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, shortly after birth at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.

Visitation is noon to 12:30 p.m. today at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis, with graveside services afterwards in St. Mary's cemetery , East Moline.

Survivors include her parents; brothers, Darell Teague and Markell Sierra; grandparents, Donna and Jim Sierra, Silvis, and Inez Teague, East Moline; and great-grandmothers, Jesse Sierra, Silvis, and Elrita Teague, East Moline.

Milton Votroubek
Milton Votroubek, 80, Rock Island, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Arrangements are pending at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island.

Mark Hanneman
Mark Hanneman, 48, Racine, Wis., passed away Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, at home.

Services are 1 p.m. Tuesday at Wilson Funeral Home, 1212 Lathrop Ave., Racine. Interment will follow at Graceland cemetery .

Friends may meet with the family at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to service time Tuesday.

He was born Aug. 2, 1952, in Davenport and lived in Racine for the past 11 years. In Delray Beach, Fla., on Dec. 13, 1986, he was united in marriage to the former Mary Frymire.

He was a bicycle mechanic for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Hanneman, Racine; a son, Matthew Hanneman, East Moline; brothers, Rusty, Jan and Milton Hanneman; sisters, Paula Thurman and Tam Burns; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marilyn and Jack Frymire, Racine; aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
