Maridean R. Andree, 70, formerly of Orion and Alpha, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at Seminary Manor in Galesburg.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Orion. The Rev. John Lekander will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery , Geneseo.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home Ltd., Orion. Memorials may be made to the church, where she was a member, or to Francis House of Galesburg, where her son is a resident.

Maridean Gould was born Nov. 23, 1930, in Ipava, Ill., the daughter of Percy Jay and Mary Elizabeth Barnes Gould. She married Raymond Glenn Andree Sept. 11, 1948, in Orion.

Maridean was the manager of the Woodhull Plaza Restaurant for 15 years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Orion. She belonged to the Glover Circle, WELCA, stewardship committee, and was a Sunday school teacher. She was a leader for Brownies, Girl and Boy Scouts. She was a gold member of American Legion Auxiliary of Orion and she also was a member of the Auxiliary VFW Orion Post. Maridean also belonged to various card clubs.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond; daughters and sons-in-law, Jolleen and Bill Montgomery, Orion, and Julie and Tom Armstrong, Parkfalls, Wis.; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey L. and Carol E. Andree, Kissimee, Fla., Jonathan G. and Wendy Andree, St. Cloud, Fla., and Jim Andree, Galesburg; 11 grandchildren, Candace Andree, Jacqueline Andree, Debra Andree, Jason Montgomery, Leslie Andree, Wade Andree, Justin Montgomery, Cabrina Andree, Tyler Armstrong, Emily Armstrong and Christian Armstrong; a great-grandson, Luke Hebert; a sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Ralph Spence, Aledo; brothers and a sister-in-law, Willard Gene and Ella Gould, Prince Frederick, Md., and Jerry Gould, DeWitt, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Thomas Gould.

Glenice `Marty Myers' Britt
Glenice ``Marty Myers" Britt, 52, of Geneseo, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, in Geneseo.

Arrangements are pending at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.

Ernest Carlson
Services for Ernest W. Carlson, 89, of Aledo, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Messiah Lutheran Church, Aledo, with the Rev. David Schweppe officiating. Burial will be in the Aledo cemetery .

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Messiah Lutheran Church. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the church. Trimble Funeral Home, Aledo, is in charge of arrangements.

Ernest died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at Mercer County Hospital.

Ernest was born on July 19, 1911, in Joy, to Carl Gustaf and Amanda Monson Carlson. He married Katherine Rose Morgan Oct. 16, 1942, in Aledo. She preceded him in death Nov. 6, 1980.

Ernest was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, Aledo, of which he was a past member of the Church Council. Ernest was an active member of the community, including: past president of the Aledo Rotary Club and a recipient of the Paul Harris Award; past master of Aledo Masonic Lodge 252 AF&AM; Past Patron of the Aledo chapter 126, Order of the Eastern Star; member of Scottish Rite, Valley of Moline; past president of Mercer County Historical Society; past president of the Henry-Mercer Audubon Club; past member of the Mercer County Gem and Mineral Society; past president and treasurer of the Mercer County Food Pantry and a member of the Mercer County Farm Bureau. He was also a recipient of the Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging 1992 Gallary of Ageless Achievers.

Ernest farmed his entire life, retiring in 1976. Ernest enjoyed woodworking, carpentry and carving. He also braided rugs for exhibition. Ernest enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Linda Katherine and George Wylie Phelps, and a grandson, David Wylie Phelps, all of Kingsley, Iowa. Also surviving is a first cousin, Ruth Heck of Aledo and numerous other cousins. Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a sister, Helen Carlson.

Ella `Verlea' DeKeyrel
Services for Ella ``Verlea" DeKeyrel, 76, Illinois City, are 10 a.m. Thursday at Family Funeral Services, Reynolds. Burial is in Illinois City cemetery . Visitation is 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Illinois City Grade School.

She died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at Lutheran Home, Muscatine, Iowa.

Mrs. DeKeyrel was born Feb. 6, 1924, in Duncan Township, Ill., the daughter of Joseph and Evva Pullen McCormick. She married Alois DeKeyrel April 5, 1941, in Davenport. He died May 23, 1982.

She was a cook at the Illinois City Grade School for 15 years, retiring in 1998. She also was a farm wife. She enjoyed bingo, stitchery, reading and spending time with her family.

She is survived by children and spouses, Virginia Brade, Illinois City, Dean and Mary DeKeyrel, Alexis, James and Marilyn DeKeyrel, Muscatine, Daniel and Cathy DeKeyrel, Burlington, Iowa, Elizabeth and Steven Goodnight, Illinois City, and Joseph and Roxanne DeKeyrel, Illinois City; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Vella Hessman and Mary Jeanne Parchert, Reynolds, and Margaret Jaecques, Clifton Hill, Mo.; brothers, Lawrence McCormick, Monahans, Texas, and Kenneth McCormick, Gold Hill, Ore; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Clarence and Everett McCormick, and a son-in-law, Carl Brade.

Eva Engelkens
Services for Eva D. Engelkens, 100, Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, are 1:30 p.m. Friday at Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison. Burial is in Grove Hill cemetery , Morrison. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Morrison Chapel of Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. She died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at the nursing home.

She was born Aug. 5, 1900, in Morrison, to Thomas and Rena Wiebenga. She married Jacob Engelkens in 1923. He died in 1966.

She is survived by daughters, Doris Shuck, Apache Junction, Ariz., and Margaret Anspach, Byron, Ill.; son, Allan, Chadwick, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Beatrice Riley, Lake Alfred, Fla. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy; grandson, Larry Engelkens; four sisters; and two brothers.

Gladys Gustafson
Gladys L. Gustafson, 79, of Kewanee, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at Kewanee Hospital.

Ronald Hall
Memorial services for Ronald J. Hall, 51, of Carbon Cliff, will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Colona.

He died Jan. 4, 2001, at home.

Forest Loveridge
Forest W. Loveridge, 95, Alpha, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at his home.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home, Alpha, with the Rev. Andy Busch officiating. Burial is in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Visitation is 5:30 to 7:30 tonight. Memorials may be made to Alpha Baptist Church.

Forest was born Aug. 5, 1905, rural Alexis, Ill., Mercer County, the son of Thomas and Pearl Wilson Loveridge. He married Inez Brown Aug. 8, 1936, in Galesburg. She died Sept. 13, 1994.

As a young man he worked in a candy factory in Chicago. He then worked for Gunther Construction, Galesburg, from 1932 to 1943. From 1943 to 1963, he farmed in the Alpha area and then worked for the Alpha Oil Co., retiring in 1970.

He enjoyed listening to baseball games and the Lawrence Welk TV show. He is a former Mason and was a former member of the Eagles Lodge, Galesburg.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Myra and Calvin Wright, Moline; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Betty Love-ridge, Sherrard; four grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; sister, Opal Cillian, Mukwonago, Wis.; brothers, Roger Loveridge, Rio, Ill., and Alvin Loveridge, Galesburg; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, infant son, two grandchildren and two sisters.

Joseph Michalik
Joseph Michalik, 85, Kewanee, died Jan. 16, 2001, at Oakwood Health Care Center, Kewanee.

Private services are Thursday at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee. Burial is in Mount Olivet Cemtery, Kewanee. There is no visitation. Memorials may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Kewanee, where he was a member, or Oakwood Health Care Center.

He was born Nov. 13, 1915, in Kewanee, the son of George and Mary Szuberla Michalik.

Mr. Michalik worked for many years as a farmhand in the area. He enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Andrew and Donna Michalik, and a sister-in-law, Margaret Michalik, all of Kewanee; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Marvin Haertel
Graveside services for Marvin Haertel, 92, Davenport, are 1:30 p.m. Jan. 23 at Memorial Park cemetery , Davenport. Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport, is in charge of arrangements.

He died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, at Bettendorf Health Center.

Marvin was born Dec. 6, 1908, in Stevens Point, Wis., the son of Edward and Barbara Ida Vogel Haertel. He married Emily Gimm, April 10, 1948, in Muscatine. She preceded him in death Dec. 3, 1998.

He is survived by a stepdaughter, Dolores Orr, LeClaire, Iowa; a stepgrandson; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

Michael Harris
Services for Michael A. Harris, 19, Davenport, are 2 p.m. today at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial is in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. Visitation is noon to service time today.

He died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, at Trinity, North, Davenport.

He was born July 26, 1981, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, to Daniel and Grace Long Harris. He was a student in the graduating class of 2001. He had been employed at the Locust Street Papa John's.

He is survived by his parents, and brother, Willis Harris, all of Davenport; extended family, Robert and Shirley Mapes, Charles City, Iowa, and Barb Puff, Emmetsburg; maternal grandfather, Clarence ``Hap" Long, and paternal grandparents, Fred and Mary Harris, all of Davenport; and adoptive maternal grandmother, Mary Anne Collis, Centerville, Iowa.

Daniel Johnston
Daniel C. Johnston, 70, of Bettendorf, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, where further arrangements are pending.

Sister Maria Rand
Services for Sister Maria Trinitas Rand, CHM, 85, are 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Humility of Mary Center, Davenport. Burial is in Mt. Calvary cemetery .

Visitation is after 4 p.m. Thursday at Humility Center with a wake service at 7 p.m. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Sisters of Humility.

Sister Rand died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at Bishop Brumm Care Center, Johnston, Iowa.

She was born May 1, 1915, in Dorchester, Mass., the daughter of James and Katherine Rand. She entered the Congregation of the Humility of Mary Jan. 6, 1950. She professed her final vows July 19, 1955.

She is survived by cousins, Mr. and Mrs. John Casey, Braintree, Mass.

Margaret `Midge' Strasser
A memorial service for Margaret ``Midge" Strasser, 92, Bettendorf, will be 3 p.m. Saturday at the Iowa Masonic Nursing Facility Chapel. She died Jan. 13, 2001, at the nursing facility.

Jean Turner
Jean Turner passed away peacefully at home in her paradise, Marco Island, Fla.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. today at the United Church of Marco Island, 320 N. Barfield Dr., Marco Island, Fla. 34145. In lieu of flowers or other remembrances, donations be made to the church.

She was born Aug. 18, 1924, in Davenport, to Robert and Hazel Hosier. She married Jack Turner Oct. 30, 1944, in the Methodist church in Davenport.

Jean will be remembered not only as a devoted wife, mother, and friend, but also as a community volunteer. She was a member of Kings Daughters, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, as well as a nursing home volunteer and most recently a Stephens Minister of The United Church of Marco Island.

She was a devoted wife of 56 years. Jean and Jack have four children, Connie, Mark, Doug and Laura. They also had a daughter, Cynthia, whom they lost as an infant. They have five wonderful grandchildren and a devoted niece, Bonnie, who has always been like a daughter to them. Their son-in-law, Butch, and Jack's sister, Juanita, will all sadly miss Jean's presence in their lives.

Everyone whose life she has touched will miss Jean. It was indeed a privilege and an honor to have known her.

Ethel Cawley
Ethel M. Cawley, 87, Rock Island, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Services will be 9:30 a.m. Monday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park cemetery .

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Rock Island Evening Lions Club.

Ethel Stone was born Nov. 27, 1912, in Rock Island, the daughter of Myron and Myrtle Donlin Stone. She married Warren B. Cawley in May 1935 in Milan.

In early years, Mrs. Cawley worked at Torrence Electric Co., Rock Island.

Ethel was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island, and Rock Island Evening Lions Club Auxiliary. She had served as an election judge for several years.

She loved her family and enjoyed caring for them.

Survivors include her husband, Warren; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Kristine Cawley, Milan; grandsons and their wives, Michael and Jeri Cawley, Rock Island, Mark and Ann Cawley, Cottage Grove, Minn.; great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Dustin, Tyler, Chelsi and Shawn; and sisters, Betty Sheets, Rock Island, and Grace Hellebuyck, Portland, Ore.

Donald Lannoo
Donald R. Lannoo, 68, East Moline, formerly of Moline, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, at Aspenwood Health Care, Silvis.

Services are 12:30 p.m. Monday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, and 1 p.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial is in National cemetery , Arsenal Island. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Sunday, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Church.

Donald was born July 16, 1932, Moline, the son of Gerard and Mary Laethem Lannoo. He married Marie D. Tanghe April 24, 1954, in Moline.

He had been employed as deputy program manager for spare parts at Armament Material Chemical Command, Rock Island.

He was a U.S. Navy Korean War veteran, serving in 2nd and 3rd Marine Corps.

He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline, and Moline American Legion Post 246.

He enjoyed golf, hunting and rolle bolle.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter and her husband, Rebecca and Scott Christensen, California; a son and his wife, Mike and Sue Lannoo, Indiana; grandsons, Ben Pirmann and Peter Lannoo; and a sister and brother-in-law, Yvonne and Don Hamer, Moline.
