Rev. Raymond Lassuy
Funeral services for Rev. Raymond Lassuy, 89, former pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island, will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island, where the vicar general of the Diocese of Peoria Msgr. Steven Rohlff will officiate.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church, and one hour prior to the services on Monday at the church. Rev. Ambrose Cunningham will conduct a Christian Wake service at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. Burial will be at St. Mary's cemetery , East Moline, in the Priest Circle. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2810 5th Ave., Rock Island, IL 61201.

Rev. Lassuy passed away Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, at the Rivac Care Center, Phoenix, Ariz.

Rev. Lassuy was born to Theophil and Irma Soens Lassuy, July 16, 1911, in Racine, Wis. Rev. Lassuy attended grade school and high school in Silvis, and Moline. He obtained a bachelor of arts degree in Philosophy from St. Ambrose College, Davenport.

Rev. Lassuy did his theological work before his ordination at St. Paul Seminary, in St. Paul, Minn. He was ordained a priest on May 29, 1939. Rev. Lassuy's first assignment was at St. Patrick's Church and its mission St. Augustine Church in Danville, Ill. Rev. Lassuy also was assigned to the parishes of St. Mary's in Loda, Ill., (1948), St. Mary's, Loretta, Ill., (1949), Sacred Heart, Annawan, (1957), Sacred Heart, Rock Island, (1960), and St. John's, Lonstant, Ill., (1979), retiring to Phoenix, in 1981.

Rev. Lassuy was a Boy Scoutmaster and an Eagle Scout. He served at Schlarman High School, Danville, the Peoria Diocesan School Board, the Rock Island Alleman School Board, as well as the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Arizona. Rev. Lassuy also served as chaplain at both the Scottsdale Memorial Hospital and for St. Vincent de Paul Society in Arizona.

Survivors include a sister, Madeline C. Finney; sister-in-law, Mary Ann O'Riley Lassuy; 12 nieces and nephews; 16 great-nieces and nephews; and three great-great-nieces and nephews. Preceding Rev. Lassuy in death are his parents, and brothers, Albert and Adiel.

Stanley Foslien
Stanley R. Foslien, 56, Moline, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline. The funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. also at the church.

Further arrangements are pending at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline.

Gladys Goodman
Gladys L. Goodman, 85, formerly of 4212 15th St., Moline, died on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, at Heartland Health Care Center, Macomb.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Evangelical Free Church, Moline. Visitation will be held on Sunday 5 to 8 p.m. at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline. Interment will take place at Memorial Park cemetery , Rock Island. Memorials may go to the First Evangelical Free Church of Moline.

Gladys L. Curtman was born on Jan. 18, 1915, to Elmer and Maud (Branson) Curtman in Maries County, Mo. She married Austin L. Goodman on Nov. 25, 1931, in Vienna, Mo. He preceded her in death in 1981.

Survivors include sons (and spouses), William (Janet) Goodman, Cape Coral, Fla., Ronald (Cheryl) Goodman, Macomb, and Kenneth (Linda) Goodman, Eureka, Ill.; sisters, Lorene Farmer, Jefferson City, Mo., and Mayme Earl, Granite City, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Austin Goodman Jr., Gary Goodman and Robert Goodman; two brothers; and three sisters.

Gene Johnson
Gene F. Johnson, 68, East Moline, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Arrangements are pending at Sullivan-Phillips Mortuary Ltd., East Moline.

Jack Meeds
Funeral services for Jack R. Meeds, 72, of Coal Valley, will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be in Rapids City (Ill.) cemetery .

Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.

Mr. Meeds died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, at Illini Hospital, Silvis.

Mr. Meeds was born March 31, 1928, in Geneseo, the son of Ralph and Belva (Edwards) Meeds. He married Lorraine I. Tyler May 4, 1949, in Moline. She died June 12, 1999.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He had worked as a forklift operator at the former International Harvester, East Moline, for 40 years.

He enjoyed camping. He was a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Russell Blank Jr. of Geneseo; grandchildren, Steven, Keir, Tristan and Trey; and sisters, Carol Elliot and Wynona Vallejo.

Barbara Gann
Barbara A. Gann, 59, of 1530 11th St., Silvis, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, at her home.

Services are 1 p.m. Monday at Green Rock Free Will Baptist Church, Colona. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.

Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Memorials may be made to the church, where she was a member.

She was born May 28, 1941, in Vina, Ala., the daughter of James and Lilly Mae Lay Chamly. She married H. Gene ``Hank" Gann Oct. 21, 1957, in Fulton, Mo.

She was a sales clerk for Montgomery Wards, Moline, and a seamstress for Von Maur, Davenport.

She was a member of Zal Caldron, Order of Eastern Star, Moline, and Business Women's Association.

Survivors include her husband; daughters, Sherrie and Debbie Gann, both of Houston, Texas, and Kim Wellman and her husband Greg, Colona; her mother, Lilly Mae Ayers, Adrian, Mich.; a sister, Ella Jean Humphreys, Adrian; and grandchildren, Rachael, Cody and Jody. She was preceded by a sister, Irene Smith.

Charles `Ed' Behnke
Charles Behnke, 95, Fulton, formerly of Galva, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, at Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Rux Funeral Home, Galva. Burial in Evergreen Memory Gardens, rural Kewanee. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

He married Verna Osborn in 1927. She died in 1985.

Surviving are daughters, Joreen Gingerich, Goshen, Ind., Joyce Daehler, Fulton, and Louise Lasky, Kewanee; brother, Vern, Fort Lauderdale; sister, Eva Orwig, Toulon; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Edgar Boney
Edgar E. Boney, 71, well-known Aledo businessman, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Aledo United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Aledo cemetery .

Visitation is 2 to 6 p.m. Monday at the church, with Masonic rites given by the Buffalo Prairie Masonic Lodge. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Edgar E. Boney Memorial Fund, Serenity Hospice or a favorite charity.

Trimble Funeral Home, Aledo, is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Carlson
Dorothy E. Carlson, 84, of Orion, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Beulah United Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery , Cambridge. Rev. Charles Cunningham will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services. Memorials may be made to the Beulah United Presbyterian Church.

The former Dorothy Newman was born Sept. 28, 1915, in Cambridge Township, the daughter of Fred and Jennie (Stewart) Newman. She was educated in Cambridge area schools. She married J. Raymond Carlson on Nov. 16, 1937, in Kahoka, Mo. She and her husband farmed in the Lynn-New Windsor-Alpha area for several years before moving to their present farm 52 years ago.

Mrs. Carlson was a member of the Beulah United Presbyterian Church and the Women's Circle of the church. She attended the Christian Women's Club in Geneseo. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, reading and baking.

Survivors include her husband, J. Ray; daughters and sons-in-law, Verna and Arlo Arkelle Sloan, Osco, Judy and David Anderson, Cambridge; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Nancy Carlson, Colona; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and a stepgreat-grandson. Also surviving are sisters and a brother-in-law, Marge and Ken Wongstrom, Geneseo, and Roberta Little, Geneseo; brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard and Donna Newman, Annawan, Eldon and Lucille Newman, Woodhull, Dwayne and Barbara Newman, Lynn Center, and Ray and Ruth Ann Newman, Osco. She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter; and two sisters.

Belva Dirck
Belva M. Dirck, 88, of Geneseo, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Gibson Funeral Home, Erie. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery , Geneseo.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to service time. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Geneseo, where she was a member or the Activity Fund of Hillcrest Home.

The former Belva Weber was born Aug. 22, 1911, in Geneseo, the daughter of Casper and Viola Hoover Weber. She married Harold E. Dirck Jan. 3, 1931, in DeWitt, Iowa. He died Nov. 19, 1987.

She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and cooking.

Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Loretta Bohnert, Prophetstown, Beverly and Kenneth Bonnen, Illinois City; sons and daughters-in-law, Roland ``Bud" and Doris Dirck, Hillsdale, Charles and Donna Dirck, Cambridge; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Chester and Dee Weber, Geneseo, Dale and Dee Weber, Loveland, Colo., and Howard Weber, East Moline. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Ed Bohnert, a granddaughter and a brother.

Albert Howell
Albert C. Howell, 58, Taylor Ridge, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, at home.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Family Funeral Services, Reynolds. Burial is in Edgington cemetery .

Visitation is 1 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.

He was born Oct. 15, 1941, in Rock Island, the son of Homer and Deloris Mockmore Howell. He married Carol Hofer Feb. 17, 1962, in Taylor Ridge.

He was employed at Roth Pump, Milan, for 36 years and was the machine shop foreman. He was a member of Taylor Ridge United Methodist Church. He was a stock car fan, enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, restoring Model T antique cars and baking wedding cakes.

Survivors include his wife, Carol, Taylor Ridge; daughters and spouses, Cynthia and Gene Koehler, Milan, Vicky and Wayne Ryckaert, Taylor Ridge, and Julie and Mike Kerres, Taylor Ridge; grandchildren, Kristin and Danielle Ryckaert and Cole and Sarah Kerres; sisters, Ellen Daly, New Cambria, Mo., Phyllis Moskowitz, Milan, Debra Stegall, Aledo, and Wanda Mooreman, Davenport; and brothers, David Howell, Tucson, Ariz., Larry Howell, Milan, and Terry Howell, Coal Valley. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Carol Howell, and a brother, Raymond Howell.

Ralph `Doc' Hunt
Ralph I. ``Doc" Hunt, 99, Kewanee, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, at home.

Memorial services are Saturday, Aug. 26, at First United Methodist, where he was a member. Cremation rites were accorded. Inurnment is in Pleasant View cemetery , Kewanee. Memorials to the church.

He was born Nov. 19, 1900, in Kewanee, to Joseph and Christina Capesius Hunt.

He was a drummer, leading his own ``Doc Hunt Orchestra" for many years playing around the area. He was a member of American Federation of Musicians Local 100 since 1917.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; a daughter, Jill Bogers, Newberg, Ore.; a son, Tyler, Naperville; and six grandchildren. He was preceded by two brothers and a grandson.

Elbert `Buck' Richardson
Elbert ``Buck" Richardson, 75, of Geneseo, died at Hammond-Henry Hospital Thursday evening, Aug. 17, 2000.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Myers Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Geneseo. Dr. Roger Perry will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery , Geneseo. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Myers Chapel where Masonic services will be held at 8:30 p.m. followed by a Service of the Moose.

``Buck" Richardson was born June 13, 1925, in La Belle, Mo., the son of Elbert and Christa Carter Richardson. He graduated from Roseville (Ill.) High School in 1943. He married Helen Ray on April 23, 1944, in Biggsville, Ill. He first farmed in the Monmouth area. He then worked as a welder for Butler Manufacturing in Galesburg. He retired in 1987 from the Burlington-Northern Railroad where he worked as an electrician for over 30 years.

Mr. Richardson was a member and past governor of the Loyal Order of Moose, Farmington, Ill., and a member of the Masonic Lodge 142 AF & AM, Sheffield. He enjoyed feeding and watching the birds and squirrels in his yard. He loved his cats, Inky and Mouse.

Mr. Richardson is survived by his wife, Helen; a daughter and son-in-law, Christa and Bill Hocker, Geneseo; a daughter and fiance, Susan Richardson and Ronald Hukill, Fairview, Ill.; grandchildren and spouses, Todd and Krisann Benson, Dahinda, Ill., Annette and John Bickett, Geneseo, and Terry and Kristy Benson, Yorkville, Ill.; 10 great-grandchildren; his mother, Christa Richardson, Monmouth; sisters, Margaret Spry, Monmouth, and Frances Dochterman, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and brothers, Robert Lee Richardson, Roseville, Ill., William Richardson, Monmouth, and Lewis Dean Richardson, El Paso, Texas. His father, Elbert Richardson Sr., and a granddaughter, Robin Hoy, preceded him in death.

Donald Smith
Donald J. Smith, 66, Barstow, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, at his home after a brief illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Burial will be in Homeland cemetery in Barstow. Visitation is Sunday 2 to 5 p.m. with the rosary being said at 4:30 p.m. A reception will be held at the Eagles Aerie 1839 Club after the funeral. Memorials may be made to Aerie 1839 Eagles, Silvis, for the cancer fund.

Mr. Smith was born on Jan. 31, 1934, in Moline, the son of Cleo A. and Augusta M. Smith. He graduated from Moline High School in 1952. He married June Evans on Oct. 20, 1965. She preceded him in death on Nov. 9, 1982.

Mr. Smith served in the U.S. Army as a combat engineer. He was a heavy equipment operator and was a 47+ year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 537 and 150, retiring on Jan. 19, 1996.

He was a 25-year member of Aerie Fraternal Order of Eagles; a member of AARP; and the Good Sam Club.

Mr. Smith was an avid fisherman and hunter, and loved nature and the great outdoors. He built trailers as a hobby.

Survivors include a special friend and companion, Julia Amrine, Barstow; a sister, Nancy Byrd, Cambridge; a brother, James F. Smith, Moline; nieces, Mary ``Kathy" Shore, Geneseo, and Deanna Merkwan, Flanagan, Ill.; nephews, Marcus Byrd, Altona, Ill., Michael Byrd, Galva, and Larry Heimer Jr., of Florida; and eight great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a sister; a brother; and a nephews.

Glenn Campbell
Glenn J. Campbell, 77, LeClaire, Iowa, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, at Genesis West, Davenport.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at McGinnis, Chambers & Sass, Bettendorf. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, with a Masonic service conducted at 6 p.m.

He was born May 6, 1923, to Glen and Effie Holloway Campbell. He married Nancy L. Rock Feb. 11, 1955, in Rock Island.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy; sister, Virginia Quinn, Davenport; aunt, Mildred Tingle, Cedar Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.

Terry Ehlers
Terry Ehlers, 45, Davenport, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000.

Visitation is 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport, where further arrangements are pending.
