Thomas L. Nichol Jr., 63, Winfield, Ala., formerly of Davenport, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, in Winfield.

Services are 1 p.m. Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Burial is in National cemetery , Arsenal Island. Visitation is noon to 12:45 p.m. Monday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.

He was born Dec. 29, 1936, in Rock Island, to Thomas and Helen Grey Nichol Sr.

He worked at the Rock Island Arsenal before he retired. He served in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy as a Seabee.

Survivors include his wife, Diane; a daughter, Jean Carber, DeWitt; sons, Thomas III, Ottawa, Kan., Charles, Fort Scott, Kan., and Matthew, Davenport; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Janice Shirley, Guin, Ala.

Rosa Ramirez-Vorhauer

Services for Rosa Ramirez-Vorhauer, 71, Davenport, 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony Church. Burial in Holy Family cemetery .

Visitation 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries; 4:30 prayers.

She died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, at Manor Care Nursing Center.

Surviving are children, Delores Cain, Coralville, Adena Hernandez, Rock Island, Rita Ferreyra, Moline, Tony Vorhauer, of Florida, Angelo Lake, Davenport; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Celia Rangel, Aurora Schroder, John, Joseph, George and Lupe Ramirez, all of Davenport, and Alcadio Ramirez, Hoffman Estates.

Barbara Wilson
Barbara A. Wilson, 44, Davenport, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, at Trinity Medical Center, North, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Runge Mortuary, Davenport.

Eugene Ramser
Eugene H. Ramser, 76, of Rock Island, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Knox-Larson Funeral Home, Rock Island, where further arrangements are pending.

Jack Cattrell

Services for Jack Cattrell, 75, Moline, are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline. Burial is in Rose Lawn cemetery , Moline.

Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. tonight and 1 p.m. to service time Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the Moline Parks Department for preservation of Ben Butterworth Parkway, or to Trinity Medical Cardiac Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Cattrell died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, at home.

He was born March 14, 1925, in Bozeman, Mont., the son of Charles and Bertha McAllister Cattrell. He married Rachel I. Engh Nov. 25, 1950, in Moline.

He was a sales representative for Lehigh Safety Shoes, retiring in 1990 after 22 years.

He was a World War II Army veteran. He enjoyed golfing and restoring antique furniture.

Survivors (and spouse) include his wife, Rachel Cattrell, Moline; daughter, Colleen (Bill) Combs, Colchester, Ill.; a brother, Roy Cattrell, Bozeman; a brother-in-law, Carl Engh, Silvis; and a nephew, Martin Engh, Moline. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Paul, and a daughter, Gail Anne.

Lillian Hauskoetter
Lillian E. Hauskoetter, 96, formerly of Moline, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at the Kahl Home, Davenport.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline, where she was a member. The Rev. John Laux will officiate. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.

Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Esterdahl Mortuary, 1216 5th Ave., Moline. Memorials may be made to the church.

Lillian Hallquist was born May 5, 1904, in Moline, the daughter of Adolf and Alvina Maasen Hallquist. She married Lawrence F. Hauskoetter Aug. 31, 1935, in Burlington, Iowa. He preceded her in death April 7, 1988.

Lillian was employed as a cashier at Fisk-Loosley Department Store in Moline, and later at the New York Store, also in Moline.

She was very active at the church. She had a great sense of humor and was always there for her family.

She is survived by a sister, Violette Bulger, Silvis; nieces, Mary Maze, Nancy Warren, and Norma Tunberg, all of Moline, Patti Latchaw and Betty Beldin, both of East Moline, Marcia Rausch, West Palm Beach, Fla., and Joy Taylor, Coal Valley; nephews, Tom Bulger, Fresno, Calif., Bruce Bufe, Bettendorf, Lester Hallquist, East Moline, and Jack Tunberg, West Palm Beach, Fla.; several grandnieces and grandnephews, and a special grandniece, Heather Warren, Moline. She was preceded in death by four sisters and a brother.

Glen Hostens Jr.
Glen H. Hostens Jr., 59, Moline, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, at Veterans Hospital, Iowa City, from surgical complications. At his family's request, his body organs were donated to the Iowa Donors Program in Iowa City.

Services are 1 p.m. Friday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline. Burial is in National cemetery , Rock Island.

Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established by the family.

He was born Aug. 13, 1941, in Moline, the son of Glen H. and Yvonne Bonte Hostens Sr. He married Joy I. Hill Oct. 13, 1962, in Rock Island.

He was employed as an installer for 20 years with Freed Heating, Moline, last working in 1996.

He was an Army veteran and, while in the service, won the All-Army Boxing Championship. He was a member of Friends Circle Club, East End Club and Ex-Servicemen's Club, all of Moline, Rock Island Bolders Club, and East Moline Eagles. He was an avid golfer and rolle bolle participant, having competed in many tournaments in Western Illinois.

His family meant everything to him. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.

Survivors include his wife, Joy; daughters and their husbands, Ilene and Bill Chamra, Moline, and Tamra and Mark Scott, Moline; a son and his wife, Glen and Michelle Hostens III, Moline; 13 grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Lynne and Merlin Sebastian, Geneseo.

Maridean Andree
Maridean R. Andree, 70, formerly of Orion, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at Seminary Manor, Galesburg.

Arrangements are pending at Kirk, Huggins and Esterdahl Funeral Home Ltd., Orion.

Maxine Baldwin
Maxine Baldwin, 70, Emmett, Idaho, formerly of Kewanee, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, in Boise, Idaho.

Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kewanee, where she was a member. Burial is in Pleasant View cemetery , Kewanee. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rux Funeral Home, Kewanee.

She was born April 8, 1930, in Bushnell, Ill., the daughter of John and Luella Mae Little Wilson. She married Wayne Baldwin on March 28, 1947, in Cambridge. He preceded her in death April 17, 1981.

Surviving are a son, Wayne Baldwin Jr., Cooperton, Utah; daughter, Julie VonWald, Emmett; six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and five sisters.

John Bembenek
John R. Bembenek, 72, of Reynolds died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001 at his home.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in National cemetery , Arsenal Island. A memorial fund will be established.

John R. Bembenek was born Nov. 20, 1928, in rural Rock Island County, the son of John and Minnie (Rausch) Bembenek. John married Betty Alma Gean Shoemaker July 9, 1954, in Iowa City, Iowa. She died Jan. 14, 1988.

John was employed as day foreman at Lucky Foods in Milan, retiring in 1987. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.

He enjoyed riding motorcycles, watching auto racing, assembling models, collecting guns, and square dancing with his wife.

Survivors include his three children and their spouses, Kathy and Charles D. Kingston, Mineral Wells, W.Va., Amy Pete, Bedford, Texas, and Jon and Joy Bembenek, Des Moines, Iowa; six grandchildren, Timothy Wells, Detroit, Mich., Michael Kingston, Adriane Kingston and Charles Ryan Kingston, all of Mineral Wells, David Pete, Bedford, and Aaron Bembenek, Des Moines; and a brother-in-law, Benjamin Shoemaker, Sun City West, Ariz.

Paul Betts
Paul A. Betts, 60, Kewanee, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, at his home.

Graveside services are 11 a.m. today at Evergreen Memory Gardens, Kewanee. The Rev. Carter Smith will officiate. There will be no visitation. Rux Funeral Home, Kewanee, is in charge of arrangements.

Paul was born March 30, 1940, in Kewanee to Paul and Eleanore (Winter) Betts. He married Jane Dixon July 15, 1972, in Kewanee.

He graduated from Kewanee High School in 1958. He worked as an assembler at Caterpillar in Peoria until retiring in 1986.

Survivors include his wife; a brother, John Betts; and a sister, Susy.

Ethel Bevington
Ethel Bevington, 84, Kewanee, died Jan. 15, 2001, at Kewanee Hospital.

Services are 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Kewanee. Burial is in Mount Olivet cemetery , Kewanee. Visitation is 6-8 tonight at Rux, Kewanee, with a rosary at 8.

She was born in Osakis, Minn. She married Walter Wilamoski in 1965 in Kewanee. He died in 1977. She married Van Bevington in 1979 in Kewanee.

Survivors include her husband; a brother, Dale Whisker, Kewanee; and a sister, Gloria Peed, Kewanee.

]Teresa `Tessie' Boyles
Teresa B. ``Tessie" Boyles, 88, of Reynolds died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at Mercer County Hospital Extended Care Unit, Aledo.

Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Aledo. Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery , Preemption Township. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Family Funeral Services, Aledo, with a rosary at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family.

Teresa Bridget O'Connor was born Feb. 23, 1912, in Ennis, County Claire, Ireland, one of nine children of Timothy and Johanna Meaney O'Connor. She was a graduate of Immaculate Conception Academy in Davenport.

Teresa married Francis W. Boyles Jan. 9, 1937, in Aledo. He preceded her in death Nov. 15, 1998.

Teresa was a homemaker and retired after 12 years of service as a nurse's aide at Mercer County Hospital. She was a member of St. Anthony's Altar and Rosary Society. She like gardening, loved golfing, and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Teresa is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Augie Martel, Silvis, Patricia and Vern Fuller, Aledo, and Frances and Daniel Curran, Davenport; 11 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Ernest Carlson
Ernest W. Carlson, 89, Aledo, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo.

Arrangements are pending at Trimble Funeral Home, Aledo.

Richard Crangle
Richard Murray Crangle, 83, Monmouth, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, at Pinewood Health Care Center, Monmouth.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth. Burial is Thursday at Evergreen cemetery , Evergreen Park, Ill.

Visitation is 10 a.m. to service time. Memorials may be made to Heritage United Presbyterian Church, Monmouth, or Pinewood Health Care Center Activity Fund.

He was born Aug. 21, 1916, in Chicago to James and Elizabeth McMurray Crangle.

He worked as a custodian at Homewood-Flossmoor High School, Homewood, Ill., retiring in 1980.

Survivors include a brother, James, Rock Island; seven nieces; one nephew; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by three sisters.

Ella `Verlea' DeKeyrel
Ella ``Verlea" DeKeyrel, 76, of Illinois City, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at Lutheran Home, Muscatine, Iowa.

Arrangements are pending at Family Funeral Services, Reynolds.

Eva Engelkens
Eva D. Engelkens, 100, Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at the nursing home.

Arrangements are pending at the Morrison Chapel of Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.
