Terry Dooley
Services for Terry L. Dooley, 60, of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Monday in the All Faith Chapel of Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Pastor David Bendickson will officiate. Burial will be in National cemetery , Arsenal Island.

Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the family or to the Vietnam Veteran Motorcycle Club.

Mr. Dooley died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, from complications following a motorcycle accident.

Terry LaVerne Dooley was born Sept. 10, 1942, in Davenport, the son of Alvin and Elsie Conger Dooley Jr.

He was a graduate of Davenport High School. He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the Marines where he was awarded the Rifle Marksmans Badge and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Vietnam Veteran Motorcycle Club.

Terry was a self-employed auto body technition. He truly enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. He will be dearly missed by his brothers and sisters in the motorcycle club.

In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife, Sue McConnell, Davenport; sons, Michael Dooley, Virginia, and Jason Dooley, Waterloo, Iowa; four grandchildren; brothers, Richard Dooley and his wife Dian, Lowden, Iowa, and Danny Dooley and his wife Sherry, Eldridge, Iowa; his sister, Hazel Gast, Collinsville, Okla.

Naomi Doyle
Services and Mass of Christian Burial for Naomi J. Doyle, 100, a resident of the Kahl Home, Davenport, will be 11:15 a.m. Saturday at the Kahl Home Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary cemetery , Davenport.

There will be no visitation. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials can be made to the Kahl Home or for Mass Intentions.

Mrs. Doyle died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at the Kahl Home.

Naomi Johnson was born Dec. 29, 1901, in Rock Island, a daughter of Clifford H. and Naomi Berry Johnson. She married Darrell E. Doyle July 18, 1957, in Rock Island. He preceded her in death Feb. 10, 1987.

She was a former member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Survivors include a niece, Carolyn Katherman, Sioux City, Iowa; a nephew, Terry Johnson, Indio, Calif.; a step-daughter, Judy (Mrs. Jerry) Waters, Davenport; stepsons and their spouses, Edward and Mary Doyle, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Patrick and Ann Doyle, Owensboro, Ky.; and numerous stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

Helen Stoefen
Helen Stoefen, 89, of Davenport, passed away Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Runge Mortuary, Davenport.

Johanna Casey
Johanna E. Casey, 86, of Lacon, Ill., died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at St. Joseph Nursing Home, Lacon.

Memorial services are 1:30 p.m. Friday at Lacon Sparland United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Cremation rites will be accorded. Burial of ashes will be in Lacon cemetery .

There is no visitation. Memorials go to the church or nursing home.

She was born Jan. 3, 1916, in Hopewell Township, rural Lacon, to Wilbur B. and Ella Kanive Casey.

She was a teacher and principal for Rock Island School District 41 from 1942 to 1973, until retiring. Prior to that she taught school in Marshall County Township and Lacon Grade School. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers Fraternity and the Illinois Retired Teachers Association. She also was a life member of the Marshall County Historical Society.

Survivors (and spouses) are nephew, Chuck (Diane) Casey, Lacon; three nieces, including Mary Ann (Mike) Murphy and Nina (Dan) Herridge, both of Lacon.

Mariza DeCap
Mariza V. DeCap, 45, of Rock Island, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, in Davenport.

Services will be 7 p.m. Sunday at Larson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation also will be Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Kabankalan, the Republic of the Philipeans. Memorials may be made to the family.

She was born Jan. 17, 1957, in Kabankalan, to Nicolas and Benedicta Vergara. She was a Philippine princess from the island of Cebu.

Mariza was a supervisor at Carlos O'Kelly's in Davenport. Prior to that she worked at Lady Luck Casino and Burger King. She attended Black Hawk College. Mariza enjoyed playing bingo and the slot machines and bowling.

Mariza is survived by her husband, Daniel DeCap, Rock Island; son, Marden, Rock Island; nine brothers and sisters; a host of nieces and nephews; special friend, Ruby Watkins, Rock Island; aunt, Adelia Domingo, New Orleans, La.; cousins, Carmelita March, Davenport, and Alicia Hall, New Orleans. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Adeline DeCap, and a brother.

Manuela Ruiz
Manuela Flores Ruiz, 91, of Rock Island, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at Aspenwood Health Care Center, Silvis.

Arrangements are pending at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island.

William Tagtmeier
William J. Tagtmeier, 84, of Moline, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, in Rosewood Care Center, Moline.

Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, where funeral arrangements are pending.

William Case
William E. Case, 69, of Taylor Ridge, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at his home.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. Private inurnment will be in the Chippiannock cemetery , Rock Island. Visitation is 9:30 a.m. to service time Saturday. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Case was born June 1, 1933, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Louis and Nellie Hesseltine Case. He married Mildred J. Davis May 28, 1955, in Creston, Iowa.

William retired as general foreman of the International Harvester Farmall Works, Rock Island, in 1982, after 32 years of service.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict. Mr. Case was a member of the Illinois City Fur, Fin and Feather Conservation Club and the Hillcrest County Club, Orion. He enjoyed golf, woodworking, tennis, fishing, camping, motorcycle touring and repair. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, William and Stacey Case, Denver, Colo., Jim and Debbie Case, Milan, Steve Case, Clinton, Ill., and Jeff Case, Bettendorf; grandchildren, Amy and her husband, Brandon Retherford, Ryan Case and Madison and MacKenzie Case; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Gordon Gilliam, Deland, Fla.; special nephew and friend, Dave King and Sandy Sterns, Orion; and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Louis Case.

Adda Mortenson
Adda Mortenson, 88, of Woodhull, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at Seminary Manor in Galesburg.

Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home, Woodhull, where further arrangements are pending.

Gladys Witte
Gladys Evelyn Witte, 89, of Hillcrest Home, rural Geneseo, formerly of Kewanee, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at Hillcrest Home.

Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Schueneman-Tumbleson, Kewanee. Burial is in Pleasant View cemetery , Kewanee. Visitation is 10 a.m. to services.

She was born Nov. 20, 1912, in Elmira, Ill., the daughter of Alonzo A. and Vada Dell Krause Gallogly. She married Raymond Witte March 25, 1944, in Kewanee. He died April 25, 1980.

She was preceded in death by an infant son in 1950, a daughter in June 1984, and a brother, Corliss Gallogly.

Lucy Bloch
Lucy A. Bloch, 57, of Davenport, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.

Visitation is 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Monday at the All Faith Chapel at the funeral home. Further arrangements are pending.

Naomi Doyle
Naomi J. Doyle, 100, of Davenport, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at Kahl Home, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Fuenral Home, Davenport.

Frances Gustafson
Frances J. Gustafson, 87, Davenport, died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, at Kahl Home, Davenport.

Memorial services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Elim Covenant Church, Moline. As per her wishes, her body has been donated to Palmer College of Chiropractic, Davenport. Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, handled arrangements.

She was born Sept. 2, 1915, to Aaron and Amy Snider Arnold. She married Harold Gustafson Nov. 19, 1938. He died in 1991.

Surviving are her daughter, Sharon Boyle, Long Grove, Iowa; two grandchildren; and sister, Edna Bogner, Fairfield, Iowa.

Louis Larkin
Services and Mass of Christian Burial for Louis J. Larkin, of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Oakdale Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, Scott County Humane Society, the church or a charity of your choice.

Mr. Larkin died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

Louis James Larkin was born Nov. 15, 1923, in Rock Island, the seventh of 11 children of Dalton Bugee Larkin and Harry J. Larkin. Louis attended college at St. Ambrose College and University of Iowa where he studied engineering. On Dec. 10, 1955, Louis married Lois Fahrner Ford in Davenport.

He served in World War II in the Air Corps in the 8th, 9th and 15th divisions as an engineer bombardier. Louis flew 30 missions from England to France, Italy and Germany and was awarded Distinguished Flying crosses and air medals.

In 1947, Louis began his more than 30-year career with Alcoa. Louis's international and domestic projects included real estate, sales and construction in more than 30 locations. Among his accomplishments was the construction of United Nations Plaza, Lincoln Towers, Century City, Golden Gate Parkway, John Hancock Building and the Alcoa Chemical and Metallurgical Laboratory. In 1980, he returned to Davenport to manage the construction expansion of Alcoa's local facility. He retired in 1981.

His memberships include the church, and the Outing Club.

Survivors include his wife, Lois; children, Kathleen Larkin and spouse, Zeke Houk, Evergreen, Colo.; a son, James Larkin, Alma, Colo., and Judith Larkin, Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Abigail Houk and Julia Houk; sisters, Peggy (Mrs. Don) Scapini, Peeble Beach, Calif., Hattie (Mrs. Lorney) Dussliere, East Moline; and brothers, Harry (Sue) Larkin, Madison, Wis.; Richard (Dode) Larkin, Des Moines, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Gay Fahrner, Santa Rosa, Calif.; a brother-in-law, Joseph Fox, Lafayette, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers, Dalton Block, Mary Louise Crist, Rita Freeman, Elizabeth Fox, Kathryn Demorest, and John Larkin.

Rolland Ries
Rolland A. Ries, 79, Bettendorf, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, in Lansing, Mich.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Gardens. Visitation is 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with a 7:30 p.m. Masonic service.

He was born Nov. 18, 1922, to Harry and Lenora Reed Ries. He married Ilene Paul June 15, 1946.

Surviving are his wife; daughter, Ila Lundgren, Lansing, Mich.; sons, Richard, Columbus, Ohio, Paul, Packwood, Iowa, David Ries, Topeka, Kan.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister.

Mary Rohrer
Memorial services for Mary P. Rohrer, 62, Bettendorf, are 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of the River Catholic, Princeton-LeClaire, Iowa. There is no visitation. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, Davenport, is handling arrangements.

She died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at Genesis East, Davenport.

She was born Feb. 2, 1940, in Lansing, Mich., to E.J. and Margaret Behan Turmell. She married C.R. Rohrer in 1972. He died in 1985.

Surviving are her son, Ray Henry, Plover, Wisc.; daughter, Kathy Zeppuhar, Davenport; three grandchildren; and brother, Mike Turmell, Cincinnati, Ohio.

Walter Stedman
Walter W. Stedman, 67, of Davenport, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at Trinity Medical Center, North Campus, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at McGinnis, Chambers & Sass Funeral Home, Bettendorf.

Mariza DeCap
Mariza V. DeCap, 42, of Rock Island, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, in Davenport.
