Henry `Hank' Bowen
Henry L. Bowen, 81, of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away Friday, Nov. 22, 2002, in Browning Care Center, Waterville, Ohio.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home, Bowling Green, (419) 352-2171, the Rev. Paul Ramsey officiating. Interment is in Union Hill cemetery . Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
He was born Aug. 31, 1921, in Rudolph, Ohio, the son of Oren and Cora Allen Bowen. He married
Betty June Dukett Jan. 13, 1944.
Hank was employed at the Toledo Desk from 1948 to 1951, the Rossford Ordance from 1952 to 1962, the Rock Island Arsenal from 1962 to 1972. He also was chief of police in Colona from 1963 to 1971, and the Bowling Green Elks Club from 1973 to 2001.
He was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a member of the Illinois Sheriffs Association, Ordnance Service Club of Rock Island Arsenal, The Izaak Walton League of America and the Wood Country Senior Center Bowling League.
Survivors (and spouses) are his wife; son, Richard (Maria) Bowen, Colona; daughters, Nancy (Ron) Pfouts, Bowling Green, Dorothy (George) Sheldon and Marilyn 'Kay' (Dan) Cook, Colona; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brothers, Olen Bowen, Portage, Ohio, Archie 'Jim' Bowen, Carson City, Nev.; sister Goldie Stewart, Swanton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Robert Cartee
Robert G. Cartee, 70, of Albany, Ill., formerly of Aurora, Ill., died Friday, Nov. 22, 2002, at Mercy Medical, North, Clinton, Iowa.
Memorial services are 1 p.m. Monday at Lemke Funeral Chapel, Clinton. Visitation is noon to service time. Cremation rites have been accorded.
He was born Jan. 28, 1932, in Elvins, Mo., to Joseph and Ola Henderson Cartee. He married
Marilyn Joyce Smith Aug. 4, 1951.
Surviving are his wife; sons, Larry, Earlville, Ill., Michael, Albany, and Robert Jr., Aurora; three grandsons; mother-in-law, Florence Smith, Albany; a sister; a brother; and an uncle.
Bruce Clausen
Bruce E. Clausen, 78, of Galva, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, at Kewnae Hospital.

Clarence W. 'Punk' Deets, 92, of Lyndon, Ill., died Friday, Nov. 22, 2002, at Prophets Riverview Center, Prophetstown.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Gibson & Son, Prophetstown. Burial is in Lyndon cemetery . Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
Clarence was born Dec. 5, 1909, in Emerson, Ill., to Charles and Bertha Mensch Deets. He married
June Snyder. He later married
Darlene Maronde in 1966.
Surviving are his wife, Darlene; daughters, Susan Gammon, McFarland, Wis., Sheri Roberts, Rock Falls, Ill., Sally Schreiner and Sheila Gallentine, both of Sterling, Ill.; stepdaughter, Dallas Andersen, Lyndon; son, Robert, Sterling; stepsons, Dan Scott, Rockford, Ill., and Bill Scott, Rock Falls; 24 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Kay Schwank, Sterling.
Donald Gray
Donald R. Gray, 70, of Bay Village, Ohio, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, at Fairview General Hospital, Cleveland, from complications of cancer.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at College Avenue Presbyterian Church, Aledo. Burial is in Aledo cemetery , with military rites by Mercer County VFW Post 1571. Arrangements are by Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo.
Donald was born Aug. 11, 1932, in Cleveland, Ohio, a son of Russell M. and Vera Kittinger Gray. He married
Shirley J. Burmeister, Nov, 15, 1952. He was a Navy veteran serving with the Seabees during the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife; daughters, Sandra Swanson and Sharon DeVall both of Kalispell, Mont., and Susan Mugford, Aledo; a son, Russell E., Chapel Hill, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; and a sister.
Kathryn Heyvaert
Kathryn M. Heyvaert, 73, of Erie died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, at Illini Hospital, Silvis.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Erie. Burial will be in Erie cemetery . Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday with a Rosary at 4:30 p.m. at Gibson Funeral Home, Erie. A memorial fund has been established.
The former Kathryn Marie Redman was born July 3, 1929, in Moline, the daughter of Herbert and Marie Madeline 'Minnie' Hinsberger Redman. She married
Robert Heyvaert on June 27, 1953 in Erie.
She had been employed as a special education bus driver for the Erie School District for 27 years retiring in 1994. Kathryn was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, the Denton-Schreiner American Legion Auxiliary, Erie, and the Erie Fire Flies. She enjoyed her yard, but most of all enjoyed being with family and friends.
Survivors include her husband; daughters and son-in-law, Tori Anne and Stephen Sullivan, and Terri Weeber, all of Erie; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Vicki Heyvaert, Erie; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Loretta Streitmatter, Carbon Cliff, and Lillian Israelson, Erie; and brothers Dick Redman and Louis Redman, both of East Moline; and a special friend, Ruth Stubbs, Erie. She was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.

She was born Dec. 9, 1946, in Davenport, to George and Norma Hahn. She married
Marlan White Feb. 8, 1964.

Marvin Reed
Marvin R. Reed, 68, Springfield, Ill., formerly of Rock Island, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at home.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Vancil Memorial Chapel, Springfield. Burial is in Rosehill cemetery , Petersburg, Ill.
Visitation is 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Our Savior's Lutheran Church building fund or to First United Methodist Church, Rock Island.
He was born Sept. 6, 1934, in Moline, the son of Clyde L. and Clara N. Devinney Reed. He married
Marjorie E. Meeker in 1960 in Rock Island.
He attended Our Savior's Lutheran Church. He was a member of UAW Local 1304. He was past president and coach of the Rock Island National Little League.
He retired from Case-International Harvester in 1990 after 38 years of service. He was an Army veteran.
Survivors (and spouses) are his wife; daughter, Melinda (Roland) Lucht, Springfield; grandchildren, Stephen and Megan Lucht; brother, George (Lavonne) Reed, Rock Island; sister, Nellie (Fritz) Hufford, Coyne Center; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry.

John 'JC' Teague, 66, of Rock Island died Friday, Nov. 22, 2002, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Sandra Hufford
Sandra Elaine Hufford, Danbury, Wis., formerly Moline, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002, in Duluth, Minn.
As she wished, her body was cremated. Her family will hold a memorial service in the spring. Arrangements are being made by Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster, Wis.
She was born Jan. 28, 1945, in Moline, the daughter of Clifford and Mayme Rathburn of Cordova. She married
Richard Hufford May 16, 1965, in Gordon Memorial Church, Moline.
She worked for Hasty Tasty food services in Moline and retired from there in 1995.
She loved and enjoyed visits from her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, camping, traveling, and watching wildlife. She loved hearing and writing to friends and family.
