Tamara Miller

Tamara Kay Miller, 40, of New London, died Sunday, August 5, 2001, at her home. Arrangements are pending at Elliott Chapel, New London.

E. Dale Eddington

Edwin Dale Eddington, 67, of rural LaHarpe, Ill., died at 4:20 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at his home.

Born Jan. 4, 1934, in Warren County, Ill., he was the son of Lloyd and Pearl Spry Eddington. He married Marilyn Kraft on June 5, 1954.
Mr. Eddington served in the U.S. Navy from February 1955 to February 1959. He graduated from Lincoln Christian College in 1969, and served as minister at the Christian Churches in Bushnell, Astoria, and for 25 years at Webster Christian church in Webster, Ill. He also farmed near LaHarpe since 1973.

He was a licensed pilot and enjoyed gardening, playing guitar, woodworking and photography. He was involved with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and liked to take walks with his dog and visit with friends.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Dean Eddington of LaHarpe; one daughter, Deanna Cibak of Newton; six grandchildren; two sisters, Elaine Berlett of LaHarpe and Linda Blythe of St. Louis; one brother, Gary Eddington of LaHarpe; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe.

The memorial service for Mr. Eddington will be at 2 p.m. Monday at LaHarpe Christian Church, with Bob Tillman and the Rev. Ron Green officiating.

Memorials have been established for McDonough District Hospice and Parkinsons' Disease Research.

Lavina Leichty

Lavina Leichty, 90, of Wayland, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at Parkview Home in Wayland. Arrangements are pending at Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland.

Sally Sanford

Sally K. Sanford, 48, of Fort Madison, died Wednesday morning, Sept. 5, 2001, at Donnellson Health Center in Donnellson.

Born March 7, 1953, in Fayetteville, N.C., she was the daughter of Richard and Edna White Duus. She married William R. Sanford II on July 29, 1969, in Fort Madison.
Mrs. Sanford was a graduate of Keokuk High School and had lived in Fort Madison for the past 30 years. She worked at Sheaffer Pen in Fort Madison, Metromail in Mount Pleasant, Aqua World Pet Shop in Donnellson and, most recently, at Fort Madison Health Center.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Fort Madison and enjoyed sewing, taking long walks and reading. She was an avid fan of baseball, especially the Yankees, and collected candles and wind chimes. She was a loving mother and grandmother and treasured the time she spent with her family.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Lance Sanford of Fort Madison and Billy Sanford of Keokuk; one daughter, Jennie Gregory of Denmark; her mother, Edna Duce of St. Patrick, Mo.; two sisters, Renne Heath of Ottumwa and Judy Lawson of Keokuk; a half brother, Richard Duus; a half sister, Diane Sorenson of Racine, Wis.; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, one sister and a half brother. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Sanford will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Christopher David officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk. A memorial has been established.

William Judd

William K. Judd, 75, of Keokuk, died Tuesday evening, Sept. 4, 2001, at River Hills Village in Keokuk.

Born March 4, 1926, in Rockwood, Tenn., he was the son of James and Jane Lawler Judd. He married Grete Enser in Openheim, Germany.
Mr. Judd was a sergeant major in the Army, serving for 20 years, in Germany, Korea and Vietnam. After retiring from the military in 1970, he worked at Best Western in Waynesville, Mo., until retiring in 1988. He moved to Keokuk in 1998.

He was a member of New Testament Christian Church in Keokuk, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed sports of every kind.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Karl Judd of Montrose and Adam Judd of Bel Air, Md.; one brother, John Judd of Monterey, Tenn.; one brother-in-law; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

There will be no visitation.

The graveside service for Mr. Judd will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Keokuk National Cemetery , with Brother Vic Coston officiating.

A memorial has been established for his church.

Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk is in charge of arrangements.

Naomi McNeill

Naomi Elsie McNeill, 96, 512 Eighth St., Fort Madison, died at 1:35 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2001, at Fort Madison Community Hospital.

Born Sept. 30, 1904, in Denmark, she was the daughter of George L. and Nellie Catherine Grant McNeill.
Miss McNeill worked for Sheaffer Pen Co. for 41 years before retiring.

She was a member of Fort Madison Senior Citizens and the American Association of Retired Persons.

Survivors include two nieces, Janet Groene and Martha Groene, both of Dunedin, Fla.; and one nephew, Donald A. Groene of New Orleans.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.

Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Tuesday at King-Lynk Funeral Home in Fort Madison, where the family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m.

The funeral for Miss McNeill will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at King-Lynk Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Simpson officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Fort Madison.

Memorials have been established for Fort Madison Senior Citizens and the Cattermole Library.

Arthur Howard

Arthur E. Howard, 45, of Winfield, died Wednesday, July 4, 2001, in Storm Lake.

Born Oct. 7, 1955, in Ottumwa, he was the son of Arthur E. and Madine Chesser Howard. He married Vickie Lu Bozarth. She died Aug. 18, 1996. He later married Vickie Jo Mosley on April 24, 1998.
Mr. Howard attended New London High School. He worked in shipping at CECO in Mount Pleasant.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Tara Howard of Winfield; two stepdaughters, Amanda and Amber Mosely, both of Winfield; one stepson, Jim Mosely of Winfield; his mother of New London; four sisters, Joyce Purdie, Marcella Hanson, Henrietta Cousins and Terri Lynn Howard; two brothers, Tommy and Brian Howard; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral for Mr. Howard will be at 10 a.m. today at Honts Funeral Home in Winfield, with the Rev. Greg Carr officiating. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery , New London.

A memorial has been established.

Eileen Ferrel

Eileen T. Ferrel, 97, of Mount Pleasant, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at New London Nursing and Rehab Center.

Born March 26, 1904, in Jefferson County, she was the daughter of W.H. and Dorothy Scannell Thoma. On Oct. 5, 1923, she married Howard Ferrel in Kansas City, Mo. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Ferrel was an inspector for the AEC at the Iowa Ordnance Plant in Middletown until retiring in 1969.

She was a member of Mount Pleasant First United Methodist Church and Mount Pleasant BPW.

Survivors include one son, Howard Ferrel Jr. of Davenport; one daughter, Polly Peters of St. Paul, Minn.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, two brothers and one grandson.

The body of Mrs. Ferrel was deeded to science at University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A memorial service, with the Rev. Edward Peterson officiating, will be at a later date at Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant.

Janet Rowe

Janet H. Rowe, 79, formerly of Rock Island, Ill., died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born Feb. 2, 1922, in Rock Island, she was the daughter of Oren and Lucinda Corbett Rowe.
Miss Rowe was an assembler for Servus Rubber for more than 40 years. She retired in 1976.

She was a member of Bethel Assembly of God and later St. Paul's United Church of Christ in West Burlington. She enjoyed flower gardening.

Survivors include one brother, Oliver Rowe of Silvis, Ill.; many nieces and nephews, including Serena and Frank Burkholder of West Burlington, who cared for her; and many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. today at Knox-Larson Funeral Home in Rock Island.

The graveside service for Miss Rowe will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Chippiannock Cemetery in Rock Island.

A memorial has been established for St. Paul's Lutheran Church in West Burlington.

Rosanna Taylor

Rosanna Taylor, 70, of Mount Pleasant, died at 7:40 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at Maple Leaf Health Care Center in Mount Pleasant.

Born June 26, 1929, in St. Paul, Minn., she was the daughter of William and Kirkvoid Taylor.
Survivors include two brothers and five sisters, including Lillian U. Wittich of Mount Pleasant.

The body of Miss Taylor has been cremated. Burial will be at a later date in Ashley, Ill.

Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant is in charge of the arrangements.

Rosanna Taylor

Rosanna Taylor, 70, of Mount Pleasant, died at 7:40 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at Maple Leaf Health Care Center in Mount Pleasant.

Born June 26, 1929, in St. Paul, Minn., she was the daughter of William and Kirkvoid Taylor.
Survivors include two brothers and five sisters, including Lillian U. Wittich of Mount Pleasant.

The body of Miss Taylor has been cremated. Burial will be at a later date in Ashley, Ill.

Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant is in charge of the arrangements.

Daryl McCall

Daryl A. McCall, 75, of 1513 Exchange St., Keokuk, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at his home. Services are pending at DeJong's Funeral Home in Keokuk.

Carolyn Herman

Carolyn Estella Herman, 63, of Danville, died at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

Born Aug. 27, 1938, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Maurice B. and Adra R. Harrison Shipley. She married Richard A. Herman on Dec. 15, 1956, in Burlington.
Mrs. Herman was a homemaker.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, doing arts and crafts and baking. She was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include her husband, Richard A. Herman of Danville; two sons, John (Chris) Herman and Mike Herman, both of Mount Pleasant; four daughters, Amanda Herman and Jan (Troy) White, both of New London, and Joni Herman and Susan Herman, both of Danville; her mother, Adra R. Shipley Barr of West Burlington; 10 grandchildren, Joshua and Ashley Siefken of Danville, Adam, Jacob, Jenna and Aubrey Herman of Mount Pleasant, Brieanne and Bryton Culler, Tanner Earp and Allisa Puffinbarger of New London; three brothers, Otis, James and Tom Shipley, all of Burlington; five sisters, Nancy Moore, Laura Parks, Judy Coyle, Velma Johnson and Rhonda Miller, all of Burlington; nieces and nephews; and close family friends, Kathy, Shasta and Colton Ketcham of New London.

She was preceded in death by her father; two brothers, Larry and Johnny Shipley; one niece, Tara Johnson; her mother-in-law, Thyra Herman; one aunt, Virginia Anderson; and special friends, Jim and Dusty Ketcham.

There will be no formal visitation.

The funeral for Mrs. Herman will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Danville, with Pastor Harry Hollingsworth officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.
