Mercy `Mike' Bribriesco
A Mass of Christian burial for Mercy 'Mike' Bribriesco, 83, of Davenport and Des Moines, Iowa, will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial is in Mount Calvary cemetery , Davenport.

Visitation is 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, where a prayer service will be offered at 5 p.m. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to St. Anthony's Care and Share.

Mr. Bribriesco died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at Manor Care Health Services, Davenport.

Mercy was born June 20, 1919, in Bettendorf, a son of Juan 'John' and Trindad Delgado Bribriesco. He married Irene M. Meierotto Sept. 22, 1956, in Galesburg. She preceded him in death Dec. 18, 1988. He then married Mary Briggs Sept. 30, 1990, in Des Moines.

Mr. Bribriesco retired from Sivyer Steel Corp. and had also been employed by the former M. L. Parker Department Store and the former Davenport Bank and Trust Co.

Mike was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and was an avid Chicago Cubs Fan.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Bribriesco, Des Moines; daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Robert Emmert, Coal Valley, Diane and Donald Schmidt, LeClaire, Iowa, and Linda and Michael Kessler, Spokane, Wash.; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Estela Bribriesco, East Moline; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins; a son-in-law, John Jansen, Racine, Wis; a stepson and his spouse, Ronald and Lora Briggs, Columbia, Md.; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Gene Sparks, Lincoln, Neb.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Mary Bribriesco, Bettendorf, and W. Manuel and Antonia Bribriesco and Tom Bribriesco, all of Davenport; and a sister-in-law, Eloise Bribriesco, Bettendorf.

In addition to his parents and his first wife, two brothers and a sister-in-law, Joe and Juanita Bribriesco and John Bribriesco, and a sister-in-law, Betty Bribriesco, preceded him in death. May they rest in peace.

Jeanette Carrera
Jeanette D. Carrera, 81, a resident of Grandview Terrace, Davenport, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at Genesis East, Davenport.

Services are 1 p.m. Monday at McGinnis, Chambers & Sass, Bettendorf. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park.

Visitation is 4-6 p.m. Sunday.

She was born May 2, 1921, to Edward and Frieda Lange Dreher.

Surviving are children, Mary Shipley, Buffalo, Mo., Laura Beinke, LeClaire, Iowa, Arthur Madesian, Bettendorf, Charles Bock, Newburg, Ore., and David Bagdonas, Elkland, Mo.; 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson and a brother.

Russell Chapman
Russell L. Chapman, 65, of Davenport died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at his home.

Arrangements are pending at McGinnis, Chambers & Sass Funeral Home, Bettendorf.

Robert Copeland
Robert Copeland, Florida, formerly of Davenport, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002.

A celebration of his life will be 1 p.m. today at his home. His ashes will be scattered at a later date. Beyer Funeral Home, Key Largo, Fla., handled arrangements.

He was born Feb. 17, 1946, in Eugene, Ore., to Ralph Robert and Annadell Best Copeland.

He worked at Illinois Gas & Electric Co. from 1964 to 1978.

He was a Marine Corps veteran.

Survivors are his wife, Marguerite Faye Whiteside, and numerous people who loved and were loved by him.

Darlene Lindquist, 70, of Davenport passed away Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at Trinity Medical Center, North Campus, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Runge Mortuary, Davenport.

Donald Pahl
Donald Pahl, 71, of Walcott, Iowa, passed away Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at his home.

Arrangements are pending at Runge Mortuary, Davenport.

Jimmie Fentress
Jimmie Hines Fentress, 76, Rock Island, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.

Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Sullivan-Phillips, East Moline, where further arrangements are pending.

J. Lorraine Payton
J. Lorraine Payton, 87, of Rock Island, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Arrangements are pending at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island.

Barbara Thomas
Barbara Thomas, 73, Rock Island, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at home.

There will be no visitation. Private burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery , East Moline. DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rock Island Humane Society.

She was born Nov. 21, 1929, in East Moline. She grew up in the Quad-Cities and graduated from the Villa.

Her love and care for animals will be how she is remembered by her friends and acquaintances.

She has no immediate survivors, but will be sorely missed by her dear friends, Gerald and Linda Plunkett, Clearwater, Fla., and by all the Plunkett children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving dog, Samantha, who died Nov. 26, 2002.

Ila Dalton
Ila L. Dalton, 73, of Moline, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.

Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Coal Valley. The Rev. Robert Hagen will officiate. Burial is in Point Pleasant cemetery near Roseville, Ill. Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. today at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley. Memorials may be made to the church or the Susan B. Koman Foundation.

The former Ila Louise Strickler was born Aug. 4, 1929, in Swancreek, Ill., the daughter of Roy and Fern Shaver Strickler. She married Robert V. Dalton March 2, 1947, in Davenport. He died May 20, 1997, after celebrating 50 years of marriage.

Ila was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Coal Valley, where she was a member of the Mary Martha Guild, the Widows Club and Sociable Seniors. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and enjoyed oil painting, gardening and reading.

Ila is survived by four children and their spouses, Sandra and Ed Kuykendall, Coal Valley, Michael and Cathy Dalton, Chenoa, Ill., Denise and Alex Woloch, Sevierville, Tenn., and Penny Fleming, Moline; a former son-in-law, Joe Fleming, Moline; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Max and Kay Strickler, Oakridge, Ore. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Virginia Ford.

Angelique `Angie' Lindquist
Angelique M. 'Angie' Lindquist, 77, of 4107 13th St., Moline, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church, Rock Island. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, Silvis. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline, and one hour prior to services at the church.

Angelique M. Neu was born May 12, 1925, in Eden Valley, Minn., to Christ and Marie Fischbach Neu. She married Harold R. Lindquist May 11, 1950, in Willmar, Minn. He preceded her in death Sept. 20, 1980.

She had been a member of First Lutheran Church since 1953, and had been a Sunday school teacher in the nursery. She enjoyed dancing Sunday nights at Moline V.F.W. She was a bowler with the Lucky Strikers Bowling League.

Survivors include daughter, Mary (Steve) Florence, granddaughter, Candi Florence, Moline, Kim (David) Stoutt, and great-grandchidlren, Noah and Sky Stoutt, East Moline; daughter, Judy Dennison (Al Schomer) and granddaughters, Tanika and Lorielle Dennison, and grandson Ethan Praught, all of East Moline; son, Rick Lindquist, Moline (Cyndi Bowser, Rock Island); stepson, Rich (Gerri) Miklos, Austin, Texas, and stepgrandchildren, Jason, Kyle and Kirstin Miklos, all of Texas; stepson, Jim Miklos, stepgranddaughter, Sarah, and stepgreat-grandson, Brennan, all of St. Paul, Minn.; brothers, Sylvester (Inge, deceased) Neu and Herbert (Hattie) Neu, both of Minnesota, David (Mary), Georgia, Melvin (Carol), California; sisters, Alice (Bob, deceased) Haines, Minnesota, Arvilla (Bob) Bennett, Washington, Shirley (Louis) Leyendecker, Minnesota; brother-in-law, George Casper, Oregon; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Neu, Missouri, and Janice Neu, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jerry Lindquist in 1978; stepdaughter, Beverly Lindquist; brothers, Wilfred and Merlin 'Huns' Neu; infant sister Ermaline Neu, and sister, Delrose Casper.

Betty McLaughlin
Betty L. McLaughlin, 82, of East Moline, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis.

Services are 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline, where she was a member. Burial will be in National cemetery , Arsenal Island, at a later date. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline.

She was born April 19, 1920, in Moline, the daughter of Charles and Ellen Frey Radden. She married Joseph R. McLaughlin Oct. 17, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo. He died May 29, 1989.

Mrs. McLaughlin was employed as an activity director at the former Lexington House and at Parkview Terrace, East Moline. She was a licensed beautician and enjoyed singing and playing the piano. She was a most loving and caring mother and grandmother. She adored her children and grandchildren.

Survivors (and spouses) include daughters, Mary Kyser and John Foster, Mt. Joy, Iowa, Judy and Tim Greene, Moline; son, Dan and Mary McLaughlin, Lincoln, Ill, ; grandchildren, Mike and Tom McLaughlin, Neil Meier, Heather Greene, Christopher Meier, Aaron Greene; and four great-granchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert C. Radden, and twin grandsons, Alex and Andrew Greene.

Melvin Doerscher
Melvin Arthur Doerscher, 76, Silvis, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis, after an extended illness.

Services are 1 p.m. Friday at McGinnis, Chambers and Sass Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Quad-Cities Chapter of the American Diabetes Association.

He was born Feb. 2, 1926, near Argo, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Malinda Franck Doerscher. He married Lois Holst at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport, March 22, 1947. She preceded him in death Dec. 24, 1988.

He and his wife farmed near Walcott, Iowa, for 17 years. Following his retirement from the farm, he was employed as a truck driver for the city of Davenport for more than 20 years, retiring in 1988.

During the Korean conflict, he served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged as a sergeant in 1956.

Melvin was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Davenport.

Among the things he enjoyed were dancing (especially the polka), bowling and playing cards with his friends. He especially enjoyed farming and working with Black Angus cattle with his good friend, Bob Boyd. They worked together like father and son for many years.

Those left to honor his memory include his close friend, Delores Boyd, Moline; his brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Judy Doerscher, Bloomfield, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Delores Hulke, and by his parents.

Rosa Johnson
Rosa L. Johnson, 98, Milan, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo.

A funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Burial is in Calvary cemetery , Rock Island. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan, with a Christian wake service at 4:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the church.

Rosa was born May 31, 1904, in Brookfield, Mo., the daughter of John J. and Louise Yagle Burns. She married Lloyd J. Lower. He died in 1940. She later married Ralph C. Johnson. He died in 1987.

Survivors include a son, Lloyd J. Lower Jr., and his wife, Kathryn, Aledo; 10 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. She was preceded by a daughter, Margaret Skinner, and seven brothers and sisters.

Harry `Hank' James
Harry 'Hank' James, 49, of Tomah, Wis., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center, La Crosse, Wis.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Geneseo. The Rev. Dr. Roger Perry and the Rev. Joye Perry will officiate. Family and friends are invited to the church for visitation at 10 a.m. Saturday until time of the service.

He was born on Feb. 10, 1953, in Canton, Ill.

Hank loved to go snow skiing, boating and ATV four-wheeling. His hobbies were woodworking and home remodeling, electronics and working with computers.

He is survived by his parents, Ralph and Lois Smith, Geneseo; wife, Linda James, Tomah; children, Mike Jelinek, Columbus, Neb., Jenn Joyner, Davenport, Shellie Rhoads, Bensalem, Pa., Jon 'JJ' Jelinek, Tomah, Wis., Melissa Andrews, Albuquerque, N.M., Jorden and Tyler James, Tomah; grandchildren, Chelsea and Dylan Rhoads; siblings, Robert James, Geneseo, Laurie Cullen, Atlanta, Ga., and Patrick Smith, Chicago; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Donald Majeski
Donald F. Majeski, 88, Prophetstown, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at the Skilled Care Facility of Morrison Community Hospital.

Services are 11 a.m. Friday at First Congregational, Prophetstown. Burial is in Riverside cemetery . Visitation is 5 to 8 tonight at the church. Arrangements were handled by Gibson and Son, Prophetstown.

He was born April 14, 1914, in Polo, Ill. He married Elaine Olinger in 1935. He later married Betty Warner July 19, 1962, in Gaylord, Minn. She died in 1969.

Survivors are daughters, Audrey Lindskog, Prophetstown, Donna Aguilar, Sterling, Jean Majeski, Chicago; sons, Larry and Arnold, both of Prophetstown; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Helen Olsson, Prophetstown.
