Clyde Potter
Clyde D. Potter, 72, of Ava, Mo., formerly of Colona, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, in Ava.

Services were held in Ava. Burial was in Whites Creek cemetery , Ava.

He was born Oct. 17, 1930, in Ava, the son of Floyd and Millie Hatfield Potter. Clyde married Rose Berberich Jan. 10, 1951. He later married Velma Ruhs in January 1965.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He worked 30 years as a spot welder at John Deere Harvester Co., East Moline, retiring in 1980.

Surviving are children, Jim Potter, Colona, Diane Brookhart, East Moline, and Norman Potter, Council Bluffs, Iowa; step-children, Jon Armel, Nixa, Mo., and Mary Ingram, Silvis; three grandchildren; brother, Buster Potter, Ava; and sister, Dorothy McIntosh, Mansfield, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David; sister, Lotus; and wife, Velma, in 1999.

Verla Pruett
Verla O. Pruett, 68, of New Windsor, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at Illini Hospital, Silvis.

Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Calvary Lutheran Church, New Windsor, where she was a member. The Rev. Mark Carr will officiate. Burial will be in Alexis cemetery . Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today at the church. Memorials may be made to Cozy Haven Homes or Mercer County Home Health Care. Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home, Alpha, handled arrangements.

She was born Sept. 24, 1934, in Oneida, Ill., the daughter of Ernest and Abigail McCormick Shannon. She married Curtis Bodeen Nov. 14, 1951. She married Ed Pruett Sept. 3, 1977.

Verla owned and operated a restaurant in Viola for several years. She later worked at the Woodhull Plaza. Most recently she worked at Amy's Pantry, Alpha, from where she was retired.

She enjoyed crocheting, collecting bells and spending time with her family.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-laws; Becky and Ron Tornquist, New Windsor, Janice and Bob Harmon, Aledo, and Lori and Keith Taflinger, Alpha; sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Deb Bodeen, New Windsor, Kenny and Cindy Bodeen, Milan, and Bill and Janet Bodeen, Viola; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Lee Shannon, Chillicothe, Ill., Ansel Shannon, Burlington, Iowa, Dyson Shannon, East Galesburg, Rod Shannon, Fairbury, Ill., and Stan Shannon, Alexis; sisters, Mary Reeves, Willie Heflin, and Carol Bridges, all of Alexis; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.

Loren Robbins
Loren Robbins, 70, of Cambridge, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Arrangements are pending at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Cambridge.

Corrita `Rita' Shoemaker
Corrita A. 'Rita' Shoemaker, 60, Chunchula, Ala., formerly of Keithsburg and Aledo, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, at home.

Services were Nov. 25 at Gulfcrest cemetery , Chunchula. Freeman Funeral Home, Citronella, Ala., handled arrangements.

Surviving are children, Robert, Ronald, Karen Grawet, Brenda Stokes, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, all of Chunchula; sisters, Arlene Shoemaker, Keithsburg, Gloria Cooper, Abingdon, Joyce Paschal, Roseville; and brothers, Robert, Rio, David, San Jose, Calif.

Paul Van Dyke
Paul C. Van Dyke, 95, Morrison, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at CGH Medical Center, Sterling.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ebenezer Reformed, Morrison, with a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. Burial is in Grove Hill cemetery , Morrison. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, Morrison.

He was born Aug. 31, 1907, to Claus and Lena Van Dyke.

Surviving are wife, Tena; children, Karen Wilkinson, Mahomet, Ill., Linda Van Dyke, Edwardsville, Ill., Vernon, Morrison, Arlyn, Rochelle, Ill.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

Rosetta `Rosie' Wilson
Rosetta 'Rosie' G. Wilson, 91, of Geneseo, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Wright Chapel, Stackhouse-Moore, Geneseo. The Rev. Dr. David Esche will officiate. Burial is in Rosedale cemetery , Cambridge. Visitation is one hour before service. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or the Daughters of the American Revolution.

The former Rosetta G. Gault was born Oct. 20, 1911, in Cambridge, the daughter of John S. and Della Knapp Gault. She married Wesley 'Nooks' Wilson May 25, 1943, in Kahoka, Mo. He died July 2, 1994.

She was a 1930 graduate of Cambridge High School and then attended beautician school in Peoria. Rosetta was a beautician for 58 years in Geneseo, where she owned her own business until retiring in 1989. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church and the D.A.R. Rosie was an avid collector, loved sewing, going to auctions and participating in Geneseo parades.

Surviving are nephew, several nieces and their families. Her husband and four brothers preceded her in death.

S. Kent Anderson
S. Kent Anderson, 61, Davenport, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at Genesis Medical Center East Campus, Davenport, after a brief illness.

Arrangements are pending at Runge Mortuary, Davenport.

Hilda Koehnke
Hilda Koehnke, 87, of Davenport, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at Crest Health Center, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Runge Mortuary, Davenport.

Yolanda Liendo
Yolanda Liendo, 41, of Davenport, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at University of Iowa Hospitals.

Services are 1 p.m. Friday at Runge Mortuary. Burial is in Fairmount cemetery , Davenport. Visitation is noon to service time.

She was born Aug. 21, 1961, in Shawano, Wis., to Tomas Sr. and Virginia Wynos Liendo.

Survivors are father; children, Hilda, Nelda, Raul and Moeneca Garcia and Thalia Liendo; brothers, Tomas Jr., Ricardo, Raul, Jorge, Adrian and Robert Liendo; sisters, Rosa Garcia, Diana, Carmen and Maria Liendo; and one granddaughter.

Nola Peterson
Nola A. Peterson, 87, Davenport, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at Iowa Masonic Health Facilities, Bettendorf.

Visitation is 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at Weerts, Davenport, where further arrangements are pending.

Elizabeth `Betty' Power
Elizabeth 'Betty' Power, 108, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at the Kahl Home for the Aged, Davenport.

Services are 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic, Davenport. There will be a 4 p.m. prayer service Friday with visitation until 7 p.m. at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, Davenport. Burial is in Mt. Calvary cemetery .

She was born Dec. 12, 1893.

Surviviors (and spouses) are daughter, Mrs. Richard Hines, Davenport; son, Paul (Grace), Prairie Village, Kan.; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Patsy Hart
Patsy J. Hart, 65 a resident of Coventry Apartments, Rock Island, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at her residence.

Services are 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island.

Further arrangements are pending.

Wilma Fiagle
Services for Wilma I. Fiagle, 89, of Moline, are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. The Rev. Stephen Lovelady will officiate. Burial is in Downey, Iowa, cemetery .

Visitation is one hour before the services. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Silvis, where she was a member.

Mrs. Fiagle died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, in Aspenwood Health Care Center, Silvis. The former Wilma Irene Askam was born Oct. 25, 1913, in West Liberty, Iowa, the daughter of Clark and Erma Finley Askam. She married Lawrence Fiagle Oct. 3, 1934, in Rock Island.

She had been employed by a housekeeping service for 11 years, retiring in 1976.

Wilma is survived by her husband, Lawrence; a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Marilee Fiagle, Providence, Utah; a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Larry Jones, East Moline; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings and their spouses, Walter and Leola Askam, Clark Askam, Leo and Joan Askam, and Betty and Howard Birkhofer, all of Muscatine, Iowa. She was preceded in death by eight siblings.

Ruby Nuxoll
Ruby Nuxoll, 80, of East Moline, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley.

Arrangements are pending at Sullivan-Phillips Mortuary, East Moline.

Clell Barker
Clell Barker, 82, of Bushnell, Ill., died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at Heartland Health Care Center, Macomb.

There are no services. Cremation rites will be accorded and private burial of ashes at a later date. Visitation is 6 to 8 tonight at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home, Bushnell, where friends may call after 2 p.m. Memorials to a favorite charity.

He was born July 1, 1920, in Archie, Mo., to John and Clara Phillips Barker. He married Hazel White April 21, 1945, in Bushnell.

He was an independent livestock and grain hauler.

Survivors are daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Grady Usrey, Cambridge; grandchildren, Neil Jordan, Normal, Ill., and Sara Usrey, Geneseo; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Idelle Ruebush, Burlington, Iowa.

Walter Causemaker
Walter Causemaker, 92, of Atkinson, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo.

A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Atkinson. The Rev. Gerard VerHoy and the Rev. Don Fitzpatrick will celebrate. Burial will be in St. Anthony's cemetery , Atkinson.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Vandemore Funeral Home, Atkinson, with a rosary being recited at 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Atkinson Rescue Squad.

Walter Causemaker was born March 20, 1910, in Atkison, the son of Peter and Louise Corman Causemaker. He married Lauretta Vandersnick Nov. 23, 1932, in Atkinson. She died in 1998.

Walter was a lifetime farmer in rural Atkinson, retiring in 1974. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and the Atkinson Bolders Club. He enjoyed traveling and rolle bolle.

Survivors include three daughters and spouses, Bonnie and Bob Park, Atkinson, Carole Causemaker, Herndon, Va., and Cindy and Rich Bassier, Geneseo; a son and spouse, Keith and Lynnette Causemaker, Atkinson; a brother, Carl and Doris Causemaker, Mesa, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Mae Hammond
Mae Hammond, 70, of Mount Carroll, Ill., died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at her home.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, Fulton. Burial is in Oak Hill cemetery , Mount Carroll. Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

She was born March 7, 1932, in Fulton, to Henry and Stella Temple Hoogheem.

She worked at Flower Fan-A-See Floral Shop, Mount Carroll, and farmed with her husband in the Mount Carroll area from 1953 to 1972.

Survivors include her husband, Eugene; daughters, Gaylene Hammond, Clinton, Iowa, and Janis Pepple, Mount Carroll; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Ruth Vogel, Fulton. She was preceded by three sisters and a brother.

Nancy Long
Nancy Long, 51, of Viola, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at her home.

Memorial services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Church of the Open Bible, Aledo. Memorials may be made to Humane Society. Dennison Funeral Home, Viola, is handling arrangements.

She was born March 13, 1951, in Birmingham, Ala., the daughter of Wilfred and Naomi Cooper Ross. She grew up in California. She married William Hart in California. He died in 1985. She married Donald Long Sept. 1, 1990, in Chula Vista, Calif.

She graduated from Mara Vista High School, Imperial Beach, Calif., and went to Black Hawk College and earned her nursing degree in 1994. She worked in that field as an LPN while caring for her sister-in-law, Chris, from 1993-1998.

In 1999 Nancy started as an over-the-road truck driver with her husband. She was very proud of her perfect safety record. She enjoyed animals, music and singing. She also collected clocks.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Long, Viola; a daughter, Desiree Wilson, Tacoma, Wash.; grandchildren, Dierdre, Dayna and D.J. Wilson; a sister, Marty Ayers, Phoenix, Ariz.; and mother, Naomi Alsworth, Phoenix, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her father.
