Pearl Wuestenberg
Pearl A. Krolak Wuestenberg, 91, of Rock Island, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at St. Anthony's Continuing Care Center, Rock Island.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, and 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island, where she was a member for 50 years. Burial is in Calvary cemetery , Rock Island. Visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with a rosary recited at 4 p.m. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Church.

The former Pearl A. Pilarski was born May 12, 1911, in LaSalle, Ill., the daughter of Anthony and Margaret Mikolajewski Pilarski. She married Walter F. Krolak Aug. 31, 1935, in LaSalle. He preceded her in death March 4, 1965. She married Norman Wuestenberg May 28, 1969, He died Jan. 17, 1980.

She retired from the general accounting department of Modern Woodman of America in June 1973 after working there for 20 1/2years. She previously had worked at the former Unley's Insurance Agency.

From 1974 to 1979, she was a member of the Advisory Council Committee for the retired Senior Volunteer Program. In April 1974, she became a member of Franciscan Medical Center Auxiliary and worked as a volunteer at the hospital.

Her memberships include the Sacred Heart Sodality, Modern Woodman Camp 26 Ladies Auxiliary, Franciscan Medical Center Auxiliary, Senior Volunteer Program, Plus 60 Club, Rock Island County Senior Council and Friends Circle Club, Moline.

Pearl enjoyed family gatherings, gardening, fishing, dancing, traveling and playing cards.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Donald W. and Patricia Krolak, Rock Island; grandchildren and spouses, Cheryle and Bryan Mitchell, Dawn and Peter Sherwin and Donald A. Krolak; great-grandchildren, Erin and Ryan Mitchell and Nicholas and Emily Sherwin; sister, Helen Spriet, Moline; stepsons, Charles Wuestenberg, Durant, Iowa, and James Wuestenberg, Arizona; eight stepgrandchildren; and numerous stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth A. Krolak; a stepson, Richard Wuestenberg; and brothers, Edward and Ray Pilarski.

Elinor Case
Elinor Case, 88, of Moline, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at home.

Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline. Visitation is noon to service time.

Ardelle Gentry
Ardelle J. Gentry, 81, of Moline, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at her home.

Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, where further arrangements are pending.

Judy Jaeke
Judy Ann Jaeke, 62, of Moline, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, in Port Charlotte, Fla.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. Inurnment will be at a later date. Visitation will be 2 p.m. to services Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Pathway Hospice.

Judy was born July 24, 1940, in Superior, Wis., the daughter of Edward and Magdalene Elewaut Paloski. She married James Jaeke in 1961 in Milwaukee, Wis.

Judy is survived by her children and their spouses, Jackie and Randy Engh, North Port, Fla., Janette and Kirk Kettler, Port Charlotte, James Jaeke Jr., Rock Island, and Julie and Jim Neer, Seattle, Wash.; grandchildren, Allyson, Ashley, Colton, Kirk, Kayte, and Jack; mother, Magdalene Paloski and brother, Robert Paloski, both of Eau Claire, Wis.; and two nieces. She was preceded in death by her father.

Bertha Soliz
Bertha Elena Soliz, former Silvis resident, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, in Anthony, Texas, after a long illness.

She was born April 22, 1929, in Tacambaro, Michoacan, Mexico.

Surviving are her three sons, Javier Soliz, Luis Francisco Solis U.S. Army, and Maria de Lourdes Sapien; four grandchildren, Alena Soliz, Carlos Ramirez, Alesandra Sapien and Jordan Alexis Soliz; her husband, a Silvis resident, Margarito Lopez Soliz, is a retired university professor, also survives. The couple met in Mexico in 1957 and were married on April 23, 1958. She also is survived by two brothers, Guillermo Aburto and Javier Aburto in Morelia Michoacan, Mexico.

Mr. Soliz's brothers, Frank, Tanilo and Guadalupe attended the funeral and served as pallbearers. Other pallbearers were Carlos Ramirez, Javier Soliz and Henry Sapien. Also attending were Frank's wife, Josie, Tanilo's daughter, Cindy Gomez and Cindy's daughter, Marissa. Carlo Soliz of Colorado Springs, Colo., attended after the funeral. A cousin, Graciela Perez Villegas and her daughter, Graciela Perez, came in from Mexico City for the rosary and funeral.

Bertha was a beautiful, sincere, dedicated housewife.

Wilbert Taylor
Services for Wilbert 'Bill' Taylor, 88, of Silvis, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Anne's Catholic Church, East Moline. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline.

There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Genesis Hospice Care.

Mr. Taylor died Feb. 3, 2003, at home.

He was born Aug. 18, 1914, in Kewanee, the son of Frank Taylor and Louise Vershaw Taylor. He graduated from Visitation High School, Kewanee, in 1932 and was the president of his class. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corp in Illinois, Oregon and Wisconsin. In 1941, he married Gladys P. Chinlund, of Kewanee, in Edina, Mo.

He served in the United States Coast Guard for three years in World War II. They moved to the Quad-Cities after World War II.

He was employed by International Harvester, East Moline Works, for 39 years as a process engineer in the manufacturing, planning, and research departments, retiring in 1976.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling. He loved sports, especially his grandchildren's Little League baseball and soccer. He was a Chicago Cub and Bears Fan. He was an excellent husband, father and provider.

Survivors (and spouses) are his wife of 62 years, Gladys; daughter, Mindy (Dan) Hoffman, Germantown, Wis.; son, Rodney (Carolyn) Taylor, Cleveland, Tenn.; grandchildren, Brad (Carol) Hoffman, Raleigh, N.C., Brian (Stephanie) Hoffman, Greeneville, Tenn., Kris (Sara) Hoffman, Detroit Mich., and Shane Taylor and Kimberly Taylor, both of Cleveland, Tenn.; and great-grandchildren, Kristoffer and Molly Hoffman, Detroit, and Logan Hoffman, Greeneville.

Edith Vicevich
Services for Edith M. Vicevich, 86, of Coal Valley, are 9:20 a.m. Friday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, and 10 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Coal Valley, where she was a member. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.

Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home where a rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Memorials may be made to the church.

Mrs. Vicevich died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at her home.

The former Edith M. Allardyce was born Nov. 14, 1916, in Numa, Iowa, the daughter of William and Jessie Gillispie Allardyce. She married Fred Harbour. He preceded her in death in 1947. Edith married Joseph A. Vicevich July 11, 1953, in Chicago. He preceded her in death Nov. 23, 2000.

Edith was co-owner of Joe and Ediths Tavern, Moline, with her husband for 21 years, retiring in 1972.

Survivors include stepdaughters, Linda Benston and Pat Olson, both of Salt Lake City, Utah; a stepson, Howard Vicevich, Toole, Utah; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Pauline Allardyce, Moline; brother-in-law, John Vicevich, Centerville, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

Myrtle Bollivar
Myrtle E. Bollivar, 98, of Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center, Prophetstown, formerly of Tampico, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at the center.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Garland Funeral Home, Tampico. Burial is in Tampico Memorial cemetery . Visitation is 10 a.m. to service time.

She was born Dec. 27, 1904, in Dysart, Iowa, to John and Catherina Huyett. She married Everett Bollivar in 1923. He died in 1970.

Survivors are children, Clarence, Largo, Fla., John, Prophetstown, Wayne, McLean, Ill., Alice VanDeVoorde, Erie, Caroline Parkinson, Rockford, Ill.; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; siblings, Inez Frerichs, Collins, Iowa, Ruth Tucker and Everett Huyett, Dixon.

Marlene Curry
Marlene Curry, 65, of Matherville, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at her home.

Services are 11 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Matherville, where she was a member. Burial is in Western Township cemetery , Orion. Visitation is 9 a.m. to services Friday at the church. Arrangements are by Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

She was born May 28, 1937, in Moline, to Leslie and Zelma Brooks Holdt. She graduated from Sherrard High School. She married Alvin Junior Curry in 1956 in Rock Island. He died Nov. 11, 1972.

She was a bookkeeper for Kroll Siding, Colona, for seven years, retiring in May 2002. She also had anembroidery business out of her home. Marlene was an excellent seamstress.

Surviving are her daughter, Juliann Dowell, Moline; stepdaughter, Donna Poston, Rock Island; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Brenda Curry, Orion, and Shawn Curry and Marnita Frese, Viola; seven grandchildren; sister, Mary Lou Linkous, Kentucky. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, son, Patrick Allen Curry; and a brother, Lanny Holdt.

Judith Hartman
Judith Hartman, 65, of New Boston, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo.

Arrangements are pending are Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo.

Mildred Morris
Mildred E. Morris, 82, formerly of Alexis and Davenport, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at Bettendorf Health Care Center.

Graveside services are 1:30 p.m. Friday at Alexis cemetery . There is no visitation. Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Aug. 31, 1920 in Mercer County to Daniel and Esther Giffen Kelley. She was reared and educated in Alexis and graduated from Alexis High School. She married Earl Morris. He died in 1978.

She is survived by her brother and spouse, Casey and Bernice Kelley, Galesburg; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, James, Robert, William and Richard Kelley.

Florence Olson
Services for Florence A. Olson, 91, of Illinois City, are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Buffalo Prairie Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Robert Anderson will officiate. Burial is in Buffalo Prairie cemetery .

Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. today at Trimble Funeral Home, Aledo. Memorials may be made to Buffalo Prairie Presbyterian Church or Buffalo Prairie Volunteer Fire Department.

Florence died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.

Florence was born Aug. 30, 1911, in Illinois City, to John R. and Margaret Hessman Boruff. She married Earl O. Olson Sept. 19, 1934, in Aledo. He preceded her in death April 30, 2002.

Florence was a member of Buffalo Prairie Presbyterian Church and its organizations. She was a talented poet who was devoted to her family. Florence farmed with her husband in Eliza township.

Florence is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Martha Olson, Joy; granchildren and their spouses: Michelle and Joe Hall, Taylor Ridge, and Rob and Tammy Olson, Illinois City; and great-grandchildren, Ashley, Danielle, Jeri and Jordan Hall, and Jake and Brittany Olson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, Chester Boruff.

Judith Spears
Judith Spears, 52, of Willow Wood Health Care Center, Rock Falls, formerly of Tampico, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at the care center.

Arrangements are pending at Garland Funeral Home, Tampico.

Henry Vereecke
Henry A. Vereecke, 88, Bradford Ill., formerly of Kewanee, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at the Illinois Veterans Home, LaSalle Ill.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Schueneman-Tumbleson, Kewanee. Burial is in Pleasant View cemetery Kewanee, with military rites. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to services.

He was born March 17, 1914, in Kewanee. He married Margaret Hay. She died in 1976. He married Lucille Vandersnick. She died. He married Naomi Shaner in 1983.

Surviving are wife; children, William, Pensicola, Fla., and Melaine Vereecke, Chicago; a granddaughter; stepchildren, Phillip Shaner, Bradford, Dale Shaner, Ft. Collins, Colo., Sharon Allen, University Park, Ill., Sandra Johnston, Willmington, Del.; 11 stepgrandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; brother, Art, Kewanee.

Helen `Heidi' White-Farber
Helen 'Heidi' White-Farber, 45, of Morrison, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at home.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, Morrison. Committal services are 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Elmwood cemetery , Warren, Ill. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Friday.

She was born Jan. 30, 1958, in Freeport, Ill., to Robert and Mary O'Neil Krupke. She married Russell R. Farber Jan. 24, 2003.

Survivors are her husband; daughters, Jenny White, Clinton, Iowa, and Emma White, Fulton; son, Matt White, Fulton; grandchildren, Taylor Swearingen and Peighton White; mother, Mary Krupke, Warren; sisters, Nancy Rowe, Red Lake, Ontario, and Jenny Holland, Gratiot, Wis.; brothers, Jeff Krupke, Freeport, and Tim Krupke and Jim Krupke, both of Warren.

George Andrews
George D. Andrews, 82, of Davenport, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at his home, following a lengthy illness.

Arrangements are pending at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport.

Jeanette Gapinski
Jeanette R. Gapinski, 84, of Bettendorf, died Wednesday, Feb.5, 2003, at her home, following a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. James Lutheran Church, Bettendorf. The family will greet friends from 9 a.m. to service time. Arrangements are pending at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport.
