Alta Mary Corso
The Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Alta Mary Corso, 94, will be 10:30 AM Monday, February 2, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Patrick J. Hilgendorf as Celebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery . Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM Monday at the Hass Funeral Home. There will be no family visitation. A memorial has been established to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Inez Johnson–Kull
Inez Johnson–Kull, 80, of Keokuk died at 9:53 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at Keokuk Area Hospital.
Born Jan. 6, 1925, in Elizabeth City, N.C., she was the daughter of Charles Henry and Elise Tadlock Creekmore. On Nov. 4, 1944, she married Donald R. Johnson in Norfolk, Va. He died May 27, 1989. On July 18, 1998, she married John E. Kull in Keokuk. He died Dec. 13, 2001.
Mrs. Johnson–Kull worked in production from 1965 to 1986 at Shellor Globe.
She was a member of United Rubber Workers Local 444. She regularly volunteered at Keokuk Area Hospital and served as a poll watcher for the Democratic Party. She enjoyed traveling and visiting gambling boats.
Survivors include four sons, Donald R. Johnson Jr. of Lima, Ohio, Kenneth W. Johnson of West Chester, Ohio, Clay A. Johnson of Joliet, Ill., and Vern Johnson of Olathe, Kan.; two daughters, Nancy C. Sanders of Franklin and Paula Johnson of Keokuk; one stepson, Kevin Kull of Keokuk; 27 grandchildren; 14 great–grandchildren; one brother, Charles Creekmore of Greensboro, N.C.; and one sister, Adelaide C. Adler of Virginia Beach, Va.
Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at DeJong's Funeral Home in Keokuk, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Johnson–Kull will be at 10 a.m. Monday at DeJong's Funeral Home, with Phil Kimmel officiating. Burial will be in Keokuk National Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for her grandchildren's education.
Francis James
Francis Bernard "Bucky" James, 81, of Ainsworth, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 2, 1922, in Washington, he was the son of Lee and Cecelia Irene Roth James. On May 10, 1947, he married Sadie Elizabeth Raymond Strain in Rock Island, Ill.
Mr. James worked for the Rock Island, Milwaukee and Sioux Line Railroad for 21 years as an inspector. He retired in 1984.
He lived in the Ainsworth community most of his life and attended Ainsworth schools. He was a World War II veteran, where he served as a tank driver in the 14th Armor Division. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Riverside and American Legion in Durant. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife of Sunrise Terrace in Winfield; two stepsons, Jerry Strain of LeMars and Ted Strain of Estherville; three stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat–grandchildren; three half brothers, Junior Marvin Buck, Lloyd Dale Buck and Richard Lee Buck, all of Ainsworth; and three half sisters, Helen Johnson of Washington, Mary Lou Edgar of Crawfordsville and Katie Kiesey of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two half sisters.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Friday at Jones–Eden Funeral Home in Washington, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. James will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Jones–Eden Funeral Home, with military honors following the service. The Rev. Scott Nesbitt will officiate. Burial will be in Columbus City Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for Ainsworth and Crawfordsville First Responders and Hospice of Washington County.
Elizabeth Ertz
Elizabeth H. "Betty" Ertz, 83, of Burlington died at 7:42 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at Prairie Ridge Care and Rehab in Mediapolis. Funeral arrangements are pending at Hass–Thielen Funeral Home.
Frances Hall
Frances E. Hall, 62, of Denmark, died at 8:20 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, at Fort Madison Health Center.
Born Sept. 26, 1942, in Franklin, Ky., she was the daughter of William and Bernice Stein Hall.
Ms. Hall worked at DuPont Corporation.
She was a former member of Moose Lodge in Fort Madison and DuPont Union.
Survivors include a special friend, Bill Owen of Kahoka, Mo.; two daughters, Phyl Hinds of Denmaek and Lori Hills of Monroe City, Mo.; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three brothers, Felix and Glenn Hall, both of Fort Madison and Howard Hall of St. Louis, Mo.; two sisters, Betty Pope of Fort Madison and Beverly Spivack of Boca Raton, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at King–Lynk Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
The funeral for Ms. Hall will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at King–Lynk Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Simpson officiating. Burial will be in Denmark Cemetery
in Denmark.
A memorial has been established to Fort Madison Health Center. Contributions may be left at King–Lynk Funeral Home.
Irma Ridenour
Irma W. Ridenour, 86, of 413 E. Baker St., Mount Pleasant, formerly of the Pleasant Lawn area, Mount Pleasant and Bloomfield, died at 5:40 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, at New London Nursing and Rehab Center in New London.
Born Jan. 4, 1919, in Bloomfield, she was the daughter of Frank and Lilly Larue Johnson Walker. She married Irvin Warren Ridenour on July 27, 1939, in Lake of the Ozarks, Mo. He died April 26, 2001.
Mrs. Ridenour was a graduate of Bloomfield High School. In 1945, she and her husband moved to the Pleasant Lawn area of Mount Pleasant. She was a long–time secretary and receptionist for Dr. Sutton in Mount Pleasant. She later worked at Mae Kennedy's Nursing Home and the Pleasant Manor Care Center, both in Mount Pleasant.
She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and reading. She loved to travel with her husband, primarily out west, and also enjoyed the many bus trips they took with their bank's Emerald Club.
Survivors include one son, Darrel Ridenour of Mount Pleasant; two daughters, Sherry Osborne and Sheryl Ridenour, both of Mount Pleasant; one sister, Ellen Goodwin of Bloomfield; three grandsons; and four great–grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, three brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. today at Weir & Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. There will be no family visitation.
The graveside funeral for Mrs. Ridenour will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Troy Cemetery , east of Bloomfield, with Guy Sammons officiating.
Elaine Rovane
Elaine Jensen Rovane, 75, of Keokuk died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at River Hills Village in Keokuk.
Born Nov. 14, 1929, in Atlantic, she was the daughter of Jens C. and Agnes P. Jensen. On June 14, 1952, she married John Agnew Rovane. He died Oct. 13, 2004.
Mrs. Rovane was a speech therapist in the Des Moines public schools. She later worked for the Speech and Hearing Clinic in Columbia, S.C. After moving to Keokuk, she provided speech therapy in her home to private clients.
She attended Atlantic public schools and was a 1951 graduate of the University of Iowa with a bachelor of arts in speech therapy.
She was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Keokuk, where she was a vestry member, Sunday school teacher and president of the ECW and Altar Guild. She was a member of the Keokuk Country Club board of directors and the Friendly House board of directors. She was a recipient of the YMCA Layman of the Year award. She was a member of PEO Chapter LZ and Keokuk Area Hospital Auxiliary. She was president of the Mother's Study Club. She was an active volunteer for Birthright and the United Way for many years.
Survivors include one son, Steven Rovane of West Des Moines; two daughters, Celeste Anderson of Council Bluffs and Mary Weld of Cedar Falls; seven grandchildren; one sister, Darlene Gardner of Maryland; one brother, Kenneth Jensen of Clarinda; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Cleo Johnson
Cleo Mildred Johnson, 96, of Burlington died at 10 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, at Rosebush Gardens Health Center.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Lunning Chapel.
A graveside service for Ms. Johnson will be in Memorial Park Gardens in Tulsa, Okla., at a later date.
Dennis Whitmore
Dennis "Dutch" Whitmore, 75, of Taylor Ridge, Ill., died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at Trinity Medical Center West in Rock Island, Ill.
Born Dec. 28, 1926, in Stronghurst, Ill., he was the son of Harry and Hazel Burrell Whitmore. On March 16, 1947, he married Winona Jeanne Connery in Burlington. She died Feb. 8, 1978.
Mr. Whitmore was an iron worker for Ironworkers Union Local 111.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
Survivors include four daughters, Pam Einfeldt of Andalusia and Nancy Larson, Cindy Leyendecker and Lori Weber, all of Taylor Ridge; six grandchildren; and six great–grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
The funeral for Mr. Whitmore will be at 2 p.m. today at Family Funeral Services in Reynolds, Ill. Burial with military rites conducted by Reynolds American Legion will be in Chapel Grove Cemetery
in Taylor Ridge.
Georgetta Thompson
Funeral Services and Mass of Christian Burial for Georgetta M. "Jetta" Thompson, 86, a lifelong resident of Davenport will be 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will in Mt. Calvary Cemetery , Davenport. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today (Monday) at the Halligan McCabe De Vries Funeral Home, Davenport, where a Christian Wake Service will be offered at 6:30 p.m.
Mrs. Thompson died Saturday, February 26, 2005 at Davenport Lutheran Home.
Georgetta M. Condon was born November 2, 1918, in Davenport, the daughter of Richard S. and Anna (Rasmussen) Condon. She attended and graduated from Brown's Business College, Davenport. .
Georgetta was united in marriage to Glenn E. Thompson, August 31, 1940, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport. In her earlier years Georgetta was Secretary to the Manager of C, D, & M Railway. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, and she served as past president of Catholic Charities and Sacred Heart Cathedral PTA.
Memorials may be made to St. Anthony's Catholic Church or Davenport Lutheran Home.
Survivors include her husband, Glenn, Davenport, and a daughter and son–in–law, Connie and Michael Storck, Burlington, Iowa; granddaughters, Susan (Boyd) Klossing and Gina (Keith) Luegering; and great grandchildren, Dylan and Camryn Klossing and Kayla and Madelyn Luegering.
A sister, Patsian Duggleby, preceded her in death in 1988.
