Clyde Heaton
Funeral services for Clyde T. Heaton, 80, of East Moline, will be 10 a.m. Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline.
Burial will be in National cemetery , Arsenal Island. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Mr. Heaton died Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at Illini Hospital, Silvis.
Mr. Heaton was born March 8, 1923, in Bussey, Iowa, the son of Gary and Margaret Brown Heaton. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married
Virginia Mae McCormick Jan. 20, 1945, in Rock Island. She died Jan. 19, 1980. He later married
Sylvia Bane McAllister Oct. 10, 1981, in Rock Island.
He retired from Eagle Signal, Davenport, in 1988 after 42 years of service. He enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling. He had a special friend 'Jonny, ' his dog.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Heaton, East Moline; daughters and son-in-law, Pamela and Rob Hoogerwerf, Geneseo, Karen Lockwood, Hiawatha, Iowa; son and daughter-in-law, David and Sharon Heaton, Andover; stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Mike Bauer, Davenport, Diane McAllister, Davenport, Sharon and Ed Warner, Bettendorf; stepsons and daughter-in-law, David McAllister, Davenport, Rick McAllister, Davenport, Tom McAllister and Janice Guimond, Plymouth, Minn., Robert McAllister, Bettendorf; 23 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Janet and Jim French, Oskaloosa, Iowa, Judy and Lonnie Clark, Bussey, Iowa, Marie and Bob Van Benthuysen, Bussey; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Ellen Heaton, Van Meter, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Heaton; a son, Thomas Heaton; parents; a sister and two brothers.
Bernice Bedwell
Bernice Carolyn Bedwell, 86, of East Moline, died Friday, March 28, 2003.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethesda Lutheran Church, rural Clarinda, Iowa, with a visitation one hour prior to service time. Local visitation will be 3:30-5 p.m. Friday at Esterdahl Mortuary, 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery , Nyman, Iowa. Memorials may be made to Salem Lutheran Church, Moline, or Beacon of Hope Hospice.
Bernice Burnison was born May 6, 1916, in Moline, the daughter of Lloyd and Selma Johnson Burnison. She married
Robert Bedwell Feb. 8, 1941, in Moline. He passed away Dec. 15, 2002.
Bernice was employed as an alteration clerk for Ydeens and McCabes, Rock Island.
Bernice was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Moline. She was also a member of Lady Vikings, Eagles Auxiliary, Friends Circle and Senior Citizens.
Survivors (and spouses) include her son, Darrell (Alberta) Bedwell, Moline; daughter, Carolyn (Jerry) Worthen, Murphysboro, Ill.; grandchildren, Craig (Kim) Worthen, Murphysboro, Kimberly Worthen, Jonesboro, Ark., Tim Bedwell and Tom Bedwell, both of Moline, and Bruce (Melissa) Bedwell, Laurel, Md.; six great-grandchildren and one great-granddaughter to be born in May; sisters-in-law, Arleene Burnison, Essex, Iowa, Shirley Durham, Azle, Texas, and Geneva Burnison, Red Oak, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Richard Burnison, Glen Burnison and Robert Burnison.
Etta `Connie' Koenig
Etta 'Connie' Koenig, 77, of Sun City, Ariz., died Monday, March 31, 2003, in Sun City.
Services are tentatively set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where further arrangements are pending.
Among survivors is her husband, Wesley Koenig.
Charles `Bud' Doss
Charles Edward 'Bud' Doss, 74, Silvis, died Monday, March 31, 2003, at his home.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice.
Mr. Doss was born June 9, 1928, in Henrietta, Okla., the son of Edward and Alta Morey Doss. He married
Joy Dean Cook March 20, 1950, in Searcy, Ark.
He was a forklift operator for John Deere Parts, Milan, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Crossroads Christian Center, East Moline. He loved going to church, fishing, working crossword puzzles, listening to bluegrass and gospel music and was devoted to his family.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Joy; a sister, Pauline Coleman, Marysville, Calif.; sons, Robert, Houston, Texas, Melvin Sr., Carbon Cliff, Melvin Jr., Bettendorf; daughters, Diane Heard, Kingwood, Texas, and Angela Doss, East Moline; four grandchildren; and a special friend, Larry Rogers, East Moline. His parents preceded him in death.
David Lacy
David G. Lacy, 46, of Winter Haven, Fla., formerly of Erie died Saturday, March 29, 2003, in Florida.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Steele's Family Funeral Services, Winter Haven. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
David was born April 20, 1956, in Geneseo, the son of David L. and Faye Jean Melton Lacy.
He was employed as a welder in Florida.
Survivors include his father in Winter Haven; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Chrissy Lacy, Albany, Ill., and James 'Joel' and Lori Lacy, Erie; a sister and brother-in-law, Vanessa and Curt DeShane, Cambridge; five nieces; and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and a sister, Cyndi.
Ronald Dehm I
Services for Ronald K. Dehm I, 60, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., formerly of Alpha, are 2 p.m. Friday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. The Rev. Donnie Plemons, Grace Bible Fellowship, Moline, will officiate. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is one hour before the services.
Mr. Dehm was found dead in his residence on Saturday, March 29, 2003.
He was born Sept. 30, 1942, in Pontiac, Ill., the son of Weldon and Evelyn Norbit Dehm. He was a truck mechanic both in Alpha and Murfreesboro.
Ronald is survived by three children and spouses, Rhonda and Jack Wright of Moreno Valley, Calif., Ronald and Tasmin Dehm of Sherrard, and Donald Dehm, Hinesville, Ga.; two grandchildren, Samantha and Jacob Dehm, Sherrard; a sister, Alvera Andreas, Joliet, Ill.; and three brothers, Bruce Dehm and William Dehm of Odell, Ill., and Michael Dehm, Orange, Texas.
Eva Somers
Eva F. Somers, 83, of Cordova, died Monday, March 31, 2003, at home.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Cordova cemetery . There is no visitation. Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron, is in charge of arrangements.
The former Eva Frances Davis was born June 2, 1919, in Jacksonville, Ill., the daughter of Eugene and Ila Shive Davis. She married
Willard Everett Somers.
She was employed at the Bendix Aviation, later called Clifton Precision, Moline, retiring Aug. 25, 1985, after 35 years of service.
Survivors include sons, Stephen Somers, Moline, and Willard 'Bill' Somers, Cordova; six grandchildren; and a sister, Imogene Rief, Tulsa, Okla. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Willard III.
William `Howard' Burris
William 'Howard' Burris, 59, died unexpectedly Friday, March 28, 2003, doing what he loved, boating.
A gathering to remember Howard will be 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at Gateway Building, Room 201, Peoria, IL, 61602. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 28441 Bonita Crossings Blvd., Bonita Springs, FL 34135.
He had been a Naples resident for the past three years coming from Illinois. He served in the U.S. Air Force and married
the former Rebecca Garrett of New Windsor in 1964.
Howard spent most of his career in the car business in Quincy, Jacksonville, Danville, Springfield and Peoria, Ill. His passion for pleasure boating turned into his career in Lake Ozark, Mo., in 1994. Most recently, he was employed by Freedom Yacht Club of Naples.
Howard was known for his sense of humor, his fascination with boats, cars and motorcycles, and his love of Yorkshire Terriers.
Howard is survived by his children (and spouses), William T. (Jolie) Burris, Oakwood, Ill., Angela (Mark) Milstein, Pacific Palisades, Calif., Alison Burris, Peoria, Ill.; and their mother, Rebecca Burris, New Windsor; his sisters, Imogene (Max) Petersen, New Windsor, and Viola (Donald) Muhlenburg, New Boston; and his grandchildren, Cole and Carli Burris, and Emma and Grace Milstein. His latest love, Aphrodite's Maximus, his Yorkshire Terrier, also survives.
Winona Marsh
Services for Winona Mae Marsh, 87, Andover, are 11 a.m. Saturday at Osco Community Church with the Rev. David Knudsen and Dr. Ken Kline officiating. Burial is in Andover Township cemetery .
Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Sullivan-Phillips Mortuary, East Moline, with additional visitation one hour prior to services at the church.
Mrs. Marsh died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at home.
She was born Sept. 25, 1915, in Wataga, Ill., the daughter of Frederick N. and Sarah F. Anderson Nelson. She married
Koiel Marsh July 7, 1935, in Moline.
She was a bookkeeper at Harker Olds and Cadillac, Moline, for 15 years, retiring in 1975.
She retired to Wisconsin for 21 years before moving to Andover eight years ago.
She was a member of Osco Community Church. She was active in her church and in PTA in her earlier years. She created beautiful needlework and treasured her family and friends.
Survivors (and spouses) are her husband, Koiel; daughter, Barbara (Jerry) Stinocher, East Moline; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Marsh, Bettendorf; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Elsie Nelson, Tucson, Ariz.; and brother, James (Sharon) Nelson, Rock Island. She was preceded in death by a son, Calvin, in 1993; and sisters, Frances Toland and Juanita Lowrance.
Rolland `Curly' Terpening
Rolland 'Curly' Terpening, 89, of Monmouth, died Monday, March 31, 2003, at Marigold Health Care Center, Galesburg.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday, at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth. Burial is in Gerlaw cemetery . Visitation, with family present, is 1 p.m. to services.
He was born June 6, 1913, in Coldbrook Township, Warren County, Ill., the son of Wilbur and Mabel Swighart Terpening. He married
Martha Stice Feb. 21, 1936, in Terra Haute, Ill.
Rolland was a member of Gerlaw Christian Church. He was a farmer and loved to dance.
Survivors (and spouses) are his wife; daughter, Marcia (William) Miller, Alexis; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Sherrell Terpening, Galesburg, and Kyle (Dorothy) Terpening, Monmouth.
Robert Stage Sr.
Robert E. 'Bob' Stage Sr., 55, Fulton, Ill., died Monday, March 31, 2003, at his home.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Fulton Chapel of Bosma-Renkes. Burial is in Upper York cemetery , Argo Fay, Ill. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday.
He was born May 2, 1947, in Clinton, Iowa.
Surviving are wife, Verna; children, Shelly Baughman, Camanche, Iowa, Chris Sansom and Ronda Wilkerson, both of Clinton, Iowa, Robert Jr., Fulton; 14 grandchildren; siblings, Joy Pettenger and William, both of Milledgeville, Ill., Mildred Burden, Donald and Ronald, all of Fulton.
Beatrice Bloomfield
Beatrice 'Bea' E. Bloomfield, 79, Aledo, died Monday, March 31, 2003, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.
Memorial services are 1:30 p.m. Saturday at College Avenue Presbyterian Church, Aledo, with the Rev. Carl Stoldt officiating. Private burial is in the Aledo cemetery . Friends may greet the family after the service in the church basement. Memorials may be left to the Aledo High School Music Boosters.
She was born May 29, 1923, in Bennett, Iowa, a daughter of Florence and Victor Bruhn Standusky. She graduated from Rock Island High School in 1942. She married
Eugene Harroun March 24, 1944, and later married
Edward Bloomfield Oct. 5, 1951, in Aledo.
She was employed at Royal Neighbors of America for 16 years, retiring in 1985, and most recently she was a greeter at the Aledo Wal-Mart.
Bea was a member of College Avenue Presbyterian Church where she was a deacon. She attended the Christian Women's Club, helped with the Wednesday Kids program and also was a former member of the Sauk Valley Doll Club.
She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, doll collecting, her friends, and most especially, her grandkids.
She is survived by her husband, Edward; two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Don Greer and Carol and Andrew Koresko, all of Aledo; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Kathy Harroun, Reynolds, and Dale and Cheri Bloomfield, Aledo; five granddaughters; five grandsons; four great-grandchildren; and a stepbrother, Charles Walter, Zapata, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents and one infant son.
Kevin Stoner
Kevin M. Stoner, 47, Kewanee, died March 31, 2003, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Schueneman-Tumbleson, Kewanee. Burial is in Pleasant View cemetery , Kewanee. Visitation is 12:30 p.m. to services.
He was born March 13, 1956, in Kewanee, to Melvin and Ruth Currier Stoner. He married
Connie L. Puckett Jan. 1, 1976, in Kewanee.
Surviving are his wife; sons, Brian K., Shaun K., and Lance K., all of Kewanee; his mother, Kewanee, brother, Mark, Milwaukee, Wis. He was preceded in death by his father in December 1986.
Carole Anderson
Carole J. Anderson, 55, of Bettendorf, died Monday, March 31, 2003, at her home, following an extended illness of cancer.
A memorial service celebrating Carole's life will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Esterdahl Mortuary, Moline. A luncheon at the Arsenal Golf Club, Arsenal Island, will follow the service. After graduating from Augustana College, Carole commenced her career as a social worker for the Department of Public Aid in Illinois, and then received a masters degree in social work from the University of Iowa in 1975. After heading a youth shelter agency in Waterloo for several years, she went on to attend law school at the University of Iowa, receiving her J.D. in 1985. She worked as a law clerk for Iowa Supreme Court Justice McCormick for a year, and then was hired at the Lane and Waterman law firm, where she worked as a partner until her retirement in January of 2003.
Carole was a leader in the field of adoption reform, serving many years as national president of Concern United Birthparents. She held positions on the Scott County, Iowa State, Illinois State and American Bar associations as well as the Supreme Court Grievance Committee and the Iowa Association of School Board Attorneys. She was also active in the Child Abuse Council, the Family Museum Board and VASA, a Swedish fraternal organization.
She will be most remembered for her strong commitment to friends and family, but other interests included reading, sewing, archaeology and travel.
Left to mourn her death are her husband, Daniel Prescott; son, Thomas Waltz; two daughters, Kristina and Anna Prescott; mother, Margaret Anderson; sister, Marsha Anderson Harvey; two nephews; 10 nieces; and two grandchildren, Jessica and Samantha Waltz. She was preceded in death by a brother, Dean Anderson; and by her father, Robert Anderson.
