Patricia A. Kroeger, 69, Bonita Springs, Fla., formerly of Davenport, died Saturday at Health Park Lee Memorial Hospital, Fort Myers, Fla.

Arrangements are pending at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.

Harry Morris
Harry Morris, 83, Calamus, Iowa, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at the VA Hospital, Iowa City.

Services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at McGinnis-Chambers, Bettendorf. Burial is in National cemetery , Arsenal Island.

Visitation is 12:30-1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

He married Lavon Wilmes April 8, 1950. She died in 1991.

Surviving are his children, Gail Youngman, DeWitt, Iowa, Rachel Bibby, Calamus, Jerry, Janesville, Wis., David, Aldrich, Mo., James, Clinton, Iowa, and John, Rock Island; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rosemary Siem, Davenport.

Ethel Robbins
Ethel R. Robbins, 77, Bettendorf, passed away Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at Bettendorf Health Care.

Services are pending at Runge Mortuary, Davenport.

Tako `Mama' Sharoian
Tako 'Mama' Sharoian, 96, a well-known and longtime resident of Bettendorf, peacefully passed away at her home Friday evening, Sept. 26, 2003, surrounded by her beloved family.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. The Revs. Basil Papanikolaou and Peter Pappas will officiate. Burial will be in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport.

Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice or to Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Quad-Cities.

She was born May 22, 1907, in Moush, Armenia. She was united in marriage to Mike Sharoian in Constantinople, Turkey.

In 1921 she arrived at Ellis Island in New York, where she was reunited with her husband, and they eventually made their way to Bettendorf. Mike preceded her in death on April 21, 1937.

In early years, she was employed at the former M.L. Parker Department Store in Davenport, and was the housekeeper for the Oakley Tyler family in Davenport for 16 years. For more than 50 years, she and her family owned and operated the Arrowhead Tavern on State Street, Bettendorf. In addition, she cared for her father-in-law, Joseph Sharoian, until his death at age 99.

Her memberships included the Armenian Relief Society and St. George the Illuminator Armenian Apostolic Church, Granite City, Ill.

She was an active participant in the International Folk Festival in Bettendorf for many years and also loved to travel. 'Mama' loved to cook for her family and many friends and will always be fondly remembered by those who knew and loved her. Her home was always a haven of friendship and love to all who entered.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jane and Jasper Perry, Las Vegas, Nev.; her daughter, Sandra J. Mohr, Davenport; her son-in-law and his wife, Dr. James E. and Donna Murray, Henderson, Ky.; 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Also honoring her memory are Art and Elsie Tatoian, who thought of 'Mama' as a mother; and her longtime and very special friend, Thelma Ehredt, Riverdale, Iowa.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughters and sons-in-law, Deba Sharoian, Alice Murray, Alma and James Geary and Gary Mohr; her sons and daughter-in-law, George 'Ossie' Sharoian, John Sharoian, and Joseph and Marge Sharoian; and her parents.

David `Stewie' Traver
David S. 'Stewie' Traver, 80, of Davenport died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at Meadowlawn Nursing Center, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport.

Ella Heerde

Ella Elizabeth Heerde, 91, formerly of Moline, passed away Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, at Maple Lawn Health Center, Eureka, Ill.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Calvary Lutheran Church, 2900 Avenue of the Cities, Moline, with visitation one hour prior at the church. Interment will be in Moline Memorial cemetery . Memorials may be made to the church or to Lutheran Social Services, 1601 N. Western Ave., Park Ridge, IL 60068. Esterdahl Mortuary, Moline, is assisting the family.

Ella was born June 14, 1912, in Rock Island, the daughter of Fred and Ida Ferberg Heerde.

She was a former missionary from Calvary Lutheran Church, Moline. She was sent to Colombia, South America. She also was a director of the Augustana Central Home in Chicago.

Survivors (and spouses) include her sisters, Ida Bischoff, Eureka, and Elfrieda Goodman, Wyoming, Mich.; brother, William 'Bill' (Patty) Heerde, Albuquerque, N.M.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Fred and Walter.

Michael Jaimes-Salmeron
Michael Jaimes-Salmeron, 17 days, son of Enrrique Jaimes and Hermenegilda Salmeron, Moline, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, at Illini Hospital, Silvis.

Services are noon Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial is in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery , East Moline.

Visitation is 10 a.m. to service time Monday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline. Memorials may be made to the family.

He was born Sept. 8, 2003, in Silvis.

Surviving are his parents and brothers George Enrrique and Elmer, both at home.

Katherine Gieseman
Katherine Marlene Gieseman, 66, of East Moline died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Esterdahl Mortuary, 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Katherine M. Kemp was born Oct. 7, 1936, in Remsen, Iowa, to Roman and Modesta Cross Kemp. She married Calvin Gieseman Sept. 17, 1955, in Dubuque, Iowa. He preceded her in death.

Katherine had been working as a dietary aide for Crosstown Square, Silvis. She had taught dance in Dubuque and had her own studio in Lancaster, Wis. She had also worked in the cafeteria at Roosevelt Elementary School, Moline.

She enjoyed bingo and loved watching her grandchildren grow and watching their sports and school activities.

She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline.

Survivors (and spouses) are her daughters, Christine (Scott) Moffitt, Matherville, and Jody (Fred) Anderson, Mukwanago, Wis.; sons, Timothy (Linda) Gieseman, Coal Valley, and John (Debbie) Gieseman, Fallbrook, Calif.; grandchildren, Jill Gieseman, Jennifer Gieseman, Courtney Gieseman, Jeremiah Gieseman, Jessica Moffitt, Kory Moffitt, Kyle Moffitt, Erica Anderson, Benjamin Anderson and Ashley Widdopp; sister, Sally Richards; and brothers, Ronald Kemp, William Kemp and James Kemp. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Calvin; son, James; and brother, Larry Kemp.

Alice McKay
Alice Rose McKay, 84, of Milwaukee, Wis., formerly of East Moline, died Friday, Sept. 19, 2003, in Milwaukee.

Services were Sept. 23 at St. Rita's Catholic Church, West Allis, Wis. Burial was in Mount Olivet cemetery , Milwaukee.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was the wife of the late John Charles McKay; loving mother of Debbie McKay-Lacy; beloved grandmother of Cheryl Lacy, John and wife Lisa Lacy, and Juliana and husband John Marohnic; great-grandmother of Nicole Ann, Anthony and Joey; and dear sister of Ann Fawks, Florida; and also was survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Christina Andries, East Moline, and a brother, LeRoy.

William Ferguson
William Stewart Ferguson, 90, of Silvis died Friday, Sept. 26. 2003, at Illini Hospital, Silvis.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Esterdahl Mortuary, Moline. Visitation is 6-7:30 p.m. at Esterdahl, where further arrangements are pending.

Travis Church
Travis Church, 23, formerly of Coal Valley, was killed in a traffic accident in Frazier Park, Calif., on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003.

Arrangements are pending.

Keith Kempin
Keith D. Kempin, 50, of rural Galva, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, at his home.

Arrangements are pending at Rux Funeral Home, Galva.

Jimmie Main Jr.

Jimmie Main Jr., 41, of Thomson, Ill., died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, at Mercy North, Clinton, Iowa.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bosma-Renkes, Fulton. Private burial is in Fulton Township cemetery .

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Bosma-Renkes.

He was born July 7, 1962, in Morrison, the son of Jimmie and Mary Homer Main Sr.

Surviving are his daughter, Ashley Main-Stiner, stepdaughter, Christine Stiner, and stepson, Jesse Stiner, all of Thomson; two grandchildren; parents; five sisters, including Donna Bergren, Kewanee, and Dale Ludvigsen, Fulton; and a brother, Bruce Brasel, Fulton.

William Slocum
William C. Slocum, 61, of Colona died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Assembly of God, Geneseo. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.

Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Memorials may be made to the family.

He was born April 17, 1942, in Rock Island, the son of Wilbur and Ideal Veirs Slocum. He married Sharon Bowker June 2, 1967, in Colona.

He served in the National Guard.

He was an inspection special investigator for John Deere Harvester, retiring in 1993 after 30 years.

He enjoyed woodworking, cooking, gardening and fishing. He was a good Christian man who loved his family.

Survivors (and spouses) are his wife, Sharon; sons, Warren and David Slocum, both of Colona, Charles (Angie) Slocum, Moline, and Danny BeVelheimer, Rapids City; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Norma Anderson, Moline, and Sandy Forster, Rock Island; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Pastor Jeff and Sue Prater and Keith and Elsie Eckhardt. He was loved by many. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Caitlyn Marie Slocum.

Marilyn Crowl

Marilyn J. Crowl, 74, Davenport, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, at Genesis Medical Center, Davenport.

Services are 1 p.m. Monday at Weerts, Davenport. Burial is in National cemetery , Arsenal Island. Visitation is 1-3 p.m. Sunday at Weerts.

She was born April 22, 1929, the daughter of Elsie Schrieber and Arthur Hanssen. She married Robert M. Crowl July 30, 1949, in Davenport. He died June 19, 2002.

Survivors include daughters, Lisa J. Crowl, Davenport, and Sally A. Foit, Omaha, Neb.; sons, Steven C. Crowl, Davenport, and Scott A. Crowl, Milan; and five grandchildren.

Phyllis Cruchelow
Phyllis Cruchelow, 78, of Davenport died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at Genesis Medical Center, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Runge Mortuary, Davenport.
